### "Wordpress is STILL the best Do-It-Yourself Website Software"

August 28, 2020

4.0

I have used WordPress for about a decade since I started building my first websites in middle school to now as a professional developer.

Pros

Wordpress is the #1 best product for managing and building a website. It has hundreds to thousands of plugins that other users have designed and developed for your use. Yes, many of them cost money, but you only pay for what you want to use. The main features of wordpress are ALL FREE.

Cons

Sometimes there is the occasional time where you may have a critical error. The worst thing that can happen to you is that you don't backup your website and then you update and it all goes away. It's rare, but it can happen. Make sure you backup before you update always.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Wordpress allows you true modification abilities. You can change it from the floor up however you want to modify it.

### "Perfect for the beginners, but sometimes it gives you a terrible headache."

March 9, 2018

4.0

Overall it is a good software if you want to build a website fast and don't need very spesific changes. But I do not recommend it if you like to be in control because at some point it drives you crazy.

Pros

My experience started very good with Wordpress. My boss picked a theme and next thing I know we had a brand new website. We used a lot of plugins to beautify it. There are so many plugin options in the market. Go ahead and pick one and ta-da you have a new functionality with little effort.

Cons

Then one day my boss started to make custom requests that none of the plugins can fulfill. The only option is to bury your custom code to the Wordpress pages which is easy but if your code block is huge like mine Chrome cannot open the page and while you wait for Firefox to open it you can enjoy a cup of coffee. One thing that I like the least about Wordpress that sometimes theme breaks (deletes some files on its own, changes database configurations) and you even didn't do a change in the website.

### "The Best Content Management System WordPress"

November 8, 2018

5.0

I highly recommend this Content Management System (CMS) because it is fast and secure. I have learned a lot by using WordPress. It integrates with a lot of apps which makes my task easy. Now I can create my own websites even I can sell it or I can guide someone else.

Pros

WordPress is an open source software. Open source software provides awesome features which make it easy to use, modify and build upon. You can make your website the way you want it to be. WordPress itself is a community where there are thousands of people out there who have made their contribution to make it a great software. There are many Content Management Systems (CMS) available but WordPress is a popular one. It is a free and open source, the large number of developers making it popular. The things which I like about WordPress is its simplicity and usability you don't have to be an expert to use WordPress everything is already set up you just have to install the plugin and there you go. If you want to customize your website you can hire someone or a developer or otherwise you customize on your own.

Cons

One of the major advantages of WordPress is it is an open source software but sometimes it becomes its disadvantage since it is an open source it is always at the target of hackers especially if the codes have been written by someone else. When you install lots of plugins the website becomes laggy or stuttering it takes time to complete the process. Sometimes due constant updates of plugins it slows down the website or even some of the functions of plug-ins don't work. But for me, the advantages are more than the disadvantages and WordPress is free so I always prefer WordPress.

### "By far the Best"

August 31, 2019

5.0

So far the experience is very good. Twice i have bought the WP hosting and have regretted it, anyway. The plugin marketplace is great, you can always find a great and suitable theme for your website needs. WP is famous enough to have integrations with almost every service and company out there.

Pros

WP is by far the best CMS for the simple reason, ease of use. Everyone likes it and the plugin, theme collection, add-ons... almost every company and service has a separate integration for WP.

Cons

hosting plans are bit meh. i prefer going to other hosting services like WPX, kinsta or somewhere else... because in the price that WP offers, its just not that good of a deal, not to mention the speed suffers as well.

### "Wordpress is the excellence the best CMS for websites with blogs"

April 8, 2019

5.0

I've been using WordPress since 2007 and will probably continue using it as my main option for creating standard sites which require a basic blog and possibly a simple e-commerce solution. I'm able to get a basic site up & running in record time.

Pros

Features, reliability, flexibility. Wordpress has the biggest community I've seen among other CMS's, which makes for a good knowledge base if you ever have to trouble shoot any issue. The ability to extend WP and customise it to any of your project's needs is probably one of the best virtues it has.

Cons

It lacks some essential features from other CMS's, like easily creating roles and protecting it based on privileges. Apart from that, the menu management is not the best, especially for menus with tens or hundreds of items as it lags a lot. Vulnerability must be considered whenever implementing e-commerce or member management features - WordPress doesn't include many built-in options to increase security as it wasn't designed for these purposes originally.

### "building a website in wordpress is so easy"

December 8, 2018

4.0

Pros

One of the great website builder in the world. yes, it is very easy to build a website in WordPress especially who want a free website .ofcourse you have to pay for the domain name. I build a website with the help of WordPress and the features, images, tools, plugins. if you are searching for a website to build I definitely recommend wordpress.they will never let you down and give you latest updates every time. just come out with an idea what you want to show that's all.if you go for paid version you will be more surprises.Tons of preloaded themes and pre build websites are waiting for you

Cons

i dont see much problems in wordpress but slightly there will be some errors with everybody.it happens sometimes but that is not a big problem.if you are first time to enter in wordpress ofcourse if you understand the basic stucture its easy.or if you are a tech guy its wonderful.but the website will be tagged with the wordpress that is minor problem

### "My favorite site-building instrument"

November 5, 2018

5.0

Best website solution for small businesses and blogs. Streamlined navigation and multitude of plugins, widgets, and customizations. (Also, you can buy premium themes on themeforest, for example.)

Pros

\- I have begun using WordPress over 10 years ago, probably, and I started with WordPress.com. I later grew out of the confines of the .com option and moved to my own domain at the .org. I love it! - if you need a simple website or a blog, WordPress.com would fulfill all your needs. - if you need to create a more complicated website, WordPress.org is a better idea because it’s more customizable (for example, you can install your own themes or plugins). - there are SO many various plugins available for every imaginable feature, that you don’t need anything else really besides WordPress. Also, there is woocommerce, which is a WordPress e-commerce platform.

Cons

\- it might take more time to learn WordPress administration than for example with Wix, but I like it more than Wix or other platforms.

### "As simple or as featured as you need it to be"

December 12, 2019

5.0

Very happy that I have switch to wordpress for its woocommerce plugin. It makes running a business more viable and not as limited as when using an all in one CRM/eCommerce solution.

Pros

It allows for amazing scalability as you grow your blog, site, or business. You are provided a great simple tool to get started and create the site you need. With a huge library of options in plugins to expand the capabilities and themes to curate the brand image displayed. It is the building blocks that can really help anyone build what they would like. Best of all, what you build travels with you. You can change domains, host servers, themes, and everything can be migrated or backed up so you can bring your site over. Even if you scale up to have a dedicated server, you can maintain the design of your site.

Cons

It can be a bit daunting with its capabilities, it doesn't hold your hand and you are required to research your own solutions and contact theme/plugin developers for help with issues. Finding incompatibilities between plugins can be a bit draining at times when something just doesn't seem to be working.

### "Save time, and develop web pages quickly."

July 17, 2019

5.0

My experience with Wordpress has been quite positive, it helps me to speed up my work, besides that for the clients it is quite useful for how easy it is to do CRUD with Wordpress for the intuitive and easy to use that is your CMS, the plugins have facilitated adding functionality to websites, which otherwise would be much more complex, is a tool for people without any knowledge on web page design, or professionals.

Pros

Wordpress has been the best cms for a long time, what I like the most is the great variety of templates that have what allows to choose a base design appropriate to the project you need to develop, besides saving a lot of time, and allows you to modify all the code of the website, another thing that I really like to use Wordpress is that there is a large community that always helps to solve doubts, in addition to access to many plugins that make it easier to add functionalities to the website. It also allows integration with different frameworks which makes it much more functional.

Cons

Wordpress has very few negative things, in my opinion one of them is that by using templates that code is generic and many people have access to the same code, so it is easier for websites to be vilenerable to hackers, however it is something that can be solved but takes more time to develop the website, another aspect is that you always have to be updating wordpress with each new version to keep the website up to date.

### "Long Live WordPress!"

May 16, 2018

5.0

Pros

WordPress is a great option for a Web-based software that allows to manage content with a vast amount of add in, plugins and third party features making WordPress one of the top content management software that for sure will help you to create great blogs, websites, e-commerce solutions. Even tho its features are set in a variety of open source and a decent number of freebies complements, you can also choose whether invest in custom content such as themes, plugins, add ins, of develop content using skilled web developers or do it your self with the support of large community of people that for sure will have something to offer to your WordPress Project.

Cons

WordPress has several limitation such as the ability to create custom permission templates using the native built-in features. Cannot create groups or delegate specific access to single users. The e-commerce has a wide range of options but is hard to find something that can fit advance to complex requirements, I do suggest to move forward looking for a third party solution outside of the WordPress universe that allows you to embed content into your WordPress Project. It’s easy to build a bad WordPress site since the lack of knowledge can turn your project goals against you, you better invest in a proper training to achieve a successful Web site using WordPress.

### "WordPress can make what you want. But you have to work for it."

February 10, 2021

4.0

WordPress has been great for being free. It helped me launch my web development career while building online businesses on the side. It is a powerful tool if you do not know where to start or need a quick blog created. It is also a great prototyping tool for young businesses that don't have the funds to build a custom solution from scratch. It was a great start for me and it can be for you!

Pros

WordPress has an intense amount of customization for open-source software. The web was built on WordPress so there are a ton of developers that form a great community to help you with plug-ins or anything else you need. You can build whatever website you like using WordPress.

Cons

You have to work for your customization. WordPress uses an outdated language in PHP and has a ton of built-in functionality that you must wrestle with as your projects get more complicated. WordPress has a steep learning curve.

### "Wordpress is our go-to CMS for special website projects"

November 19, 2019

5.0

We use Wordpress for many special web projects including: running our intranet site for employees/students, managing content for two online magazines, running our campus-wide blog network, and more.

Pros

We love how flexible Wordpress is! It provides a great backbone system that allows us to fully customize it using themes, plugins and other features. I can't think of anything that we've tried to build in Wordpress that was not possible.

Cons

Although Wordpress is super flexible, it also requires a decent amount of in-house knowledge of how the system works - especially if you're going to be doing and customizing of things that come out of the box. Luckily we have an in-house Wordpress expert in our web designer and developer, so this is not an issue for us.

Reason for choosing WordPress

We started using it to run our blogs, but quickly learned it could do so much more - we chose Wordpress over other blogging platforms because of how flexible it was to accomplish so many different things.

### "Great Open Source software to build a Website!"

May 5, 2018

4.0

The benefits i get from using WordPress I can used it for my graduate program course work to integrate an existing web application and used WordPress to make the website efficient, fast, and up-to-date with my College's announcement. The plug-in are available to integrate within my website such as Google search bar, FB,Twitter, and other social media icons that i can connect my college' website with. So all in all a ton of feature for the zero price, I urge users to use it for their benefit.

Pros

WordPress is a great open source software to build a website using thier underlying software; some of the many features i like about WordPress are; many plug-ins that are readily available to use within my website, easy to use application you do not need to be a developer to use it, there are theme options that i can choose from to add to my website and change the colors, styling, and other features. Moreover, WordPress is less cost effective for me since i chose to use WordPress in my capstone coursework to build a webpage for my university. Nevertheless, it is a great application to use if you want to promote your small business or a non-profit organization.

Cons

The support behind WordPress is lagging, since it is a open source application getting the a hold of a human being for any issue encountered can be a pain, just questions in journal there are is a forum page in WordPress that i can use to post a question, which typically is fast in terms of response time, where fellow WordPress users can comment and assist if they countered similar issue.

### "Go deep, go further with WordPress"

September 15, 2020

3.0

My experience with WordPress is very positive, because it was through it that I saved a lot of money to have my own content platform and get more visibility. Yes, I recommend it! However, prepare to dedicate a lot of time.

Pros

It is undeniable that WordPress is the best platform for content management / Web. It has some features that are exclusive, or at least rare to find in competitors. The quality of SEO is paramount today. And that needs to be stressed. The (money) savings from using WordPress is commendable. So many features at such an affordable price are premium.

Cons

Complexity and vulnerabilities, these, may be the Achilles heel of WordPress. On the one hand is the above average complexity. You need to be an intermediary in HTML and CSS to take advantage of the vast resources offered by Word. It never happened to me, but we see consistent reports about vulnerabilities in the platform and protection for owners.

### "From "newbie" to "not quite professional" blogger, Wordpress has gotten me through it all."

June 18, 2018

5.0

On my personal website, I have developed friendships throughout the world. We support each other through tough times and I never would have had this without my Blog with Wordpress.

Pros

I use the paid version (dot com) because of some additional features, such as the ability to upload my videos directly to my site instead of going through another medium such as youtube. I love this feature. There are tons of themes to choose from and customize. I love being able to pick what I want to use on my sidebar, how comments are processed and shown, the ability to add links to both internal and external sites, and the huge amount of storage space. It's great having a "like" feature that I don't find on other websites, and the ability to link to other social media such as Facebook.

Cons

There's an editor for pictures that never seems to work for me, so I edit all my pictures before I upload them. I have never successfully joined in blog hops sponsored by folks using google-based websites.

### "WordPress is Awesome!"

I use this software quite often as I have my business website under a domain with them. I like the variety of templates and widgets available for use, it makes it easier to maintain my website and has really cool features that convert it from desktop to mobile view and everything is usually very crisp and precise.

Pros

I use this software quite often as they are the host of my website. I love the features that are offered for use in site building and design. I like the templates that are available, makes it so much easier to design a page.

Cons

### "Open Source is gonna change the world. WordPress is leading the path."

October 1, 2018

5.0

Since I came to know about WP our business has totally changed. Up untill now, I have built over 200 websites on WordPress. Managing a website is also a piece of cake. I extremely recommend it to anyone who want to create their website and want to make it interactive. WordPress is all about empowering the user. Worlds 30% website are now built on website. So anyone can understand why its the best.

Pros

Its Open Source so its practically free. All the money that is made is gone to WordPress Foundation that is an NGO. Limitless possibilities in customization. So many developers available and at cheap prices for practically making any website. Best CMS ever for any Startup, SME or Multi-Corp. So many themes and Plugins you can use to customize at any point in time. SEO friendly.

Cons

Its difficult to manage big ecommerce stores on WordPress. Especially over 10k products. Major customizations are difficult for lay man user. Basic installation knowledge is required for WordPress. Little more vulnerable to virus as compared to other CMS.

### "A Must For Bloggers"

September 23, 2018

5.0

Wordpress is a primary feature of all of my online businesses for good reason.

Pros

Wordpress is a top-tier online solution for blogging in 2018. Without Wordpress, building an online media site would have been a nightmare. At risk of needing to learn to code or employ a team of professionals to design a solution for me, I might have just given up. Now, I've been using Wordpress to establish and maintain multiple blogs across different niches. - I particularly love the freedom of customization and the ability to purchase themes - There is a fantastic range of add-ons and plugins available to users - I can't think of a faster and easier way to publish great content online

Cons

I've never felt like Wordpress was missing anything in particular. I mean, there are difficulties when it comes to customizing particular themes and designs, but that's a natural result of my inability to code using HTML and CSS. If I need something done, I can employ someone to do it.

### "Honest review of Wordpress"

September 9, 2021

4.0

Overall I find WordPress easy to build a blog and website with. I have both and it's hard to find an alternative that provides so many good features.

Pros

The features of WordPress I like the most are the available plug-ins and themes available for blogging. I found the integrations I needed to run my marketing business easily in the plug in area. Also, I like to change the theme every few months to keep my blog fresh. I like the many different themes to choose from. Also the automatic updates to the newest versions of themes and plug-ins makes my blog accessible on the internet without getting lost. Their set plug-in from Yoast has been very helpful in improving my seo.

Cons

The least liked feature of WordPress is the lack of font availability in most of the themes. I feel that by now with so many features on the internet and all the technology advances, WordPress should have a larger package of available fonts in the themes area.

Switched from

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

I switched from Wix to WordPress because I found their features very limited. Wix may be free but they do not have the settings, plug-ins, features and variety of themes available. My blog is much more attractive because of WordPress.

### "The Ultimate CMS"

May 8, 2019

5.0

There should be no need to use any other CMS when you've got WordPress. We've created e-commerce sites, LMS sites, directories, download databases and simple run of the mills all with WordPress.

Pros

Honestly, everything about WordPress is awesome. As a web developer, I don't use anything else. Because it's open source, it's free to get started, and once you have an extended licence for a high quality theme you're really spending pennies to build a bespoke website. WordPress is incredibly easy to use - a 40 minute training session is more than enough for the majority of my clients - and functionality wise, there's essentially nothing you can't do, as the open source nature means there's a plugin for every feasible scenario.

Cons

I find that many clients are a bit scared to begin with because it feels like a space that novices shouldn't enter. They're more accustomed to the tacky builders that charge a fortune. Once they've been trained on the platform though, they never look back.

### "WordPress Still Rocks For Starter Sites"

November 19, 2019

5.0

I have an ecommerce site, multiple information sites, and have been using it since 2008 to build customer sites. Both the self-hosted and the .com versions are excellent for starter sites. Until 2018 I would have said that the self-hosted is the best option for any type of site. But, with recent core changes and reliance on Gutenberg for editing, I've noticed that all of my sites need to be updated weekly when it used to be a monthly thing to update. So, while I recommend it I do so with a word of caution to the person new to it. If you plan to have a complicated site, it may not be the best site to start with at the moment. Maybe in a year. If you plan to have a simple site of 10 pages and focused mainly as a blog, then it is a good way to build your site.

Pros

Easy to set up and get an informational site operational quickly. A basic blog takes 10 minutes, a site with 5 pages and an optin form takes 2 hours.

Cons

The recent changes to Gutenberg and core updates are making it less user friendly than it could be.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Ease of use and self-hosted because the sites are business assets and I believe those should be owned. I can easily move my sites to another hosting account, download WordPress and be done. I can easily move a WordPress.com site to a self-hosted site. I own my content, I can change out functionalities in a reasonably easy way, and in most cases I can have a full information site up and running in less than 24 hours.
