### "I love WordPress, but it sure is hard!"

February 12, 2020

5.0

I'm using it to build my own websites, and I hope to use it to build a web design company once I figure it out.

Pros

It is so flexible! There are all kinds of drag-and-drop page building tools, MILLIONS of free and paid templates, lots of free and paid training and people to help, and tons of plugins to do anything you want to with your web page design. I can tell it's extremely powerful, and not only because so many big firms are using it!

Cons

I don't know why, but I'm having trouble using it. I know HTML, PHP, SQL, and CSS, and I just can't get some of it to work. The parts I do finally get take me a long time -- a lot longer than I think they should. I'm going to keep trying, because I think it's valuable software that's just going to get bigger in the future. I just want to warn people that it's harder than (at least some of) the training makes it out to be.

### "The Best and Easy CMS for Web Development"

June 2, 2020

5.0

I have developed my personal websites using the WordPress. The dashboard of WordPress is really easy to understand. Where I can add my website content using the Pages and Posts Section. Woo Commerce is a great plugin of WordPress which has allowed me to build professional e-commerce websites. My overall experience with this software is really incredible.

Pros

If you want to build a professional blog, website or even an app without the knowledge of difficult programming languages then WordPress is really awesome. Free and Premium themes are perfect for your projects. There are lots of plugins which allow you to build a responsive and professional website.

Cons

According to my experience and knowledge, I've found WordPress really unique content management system. There are some external paid themes, I think so there should be free demo versions of these themes also. So any buyer of theme can test the template before buying it. All other features are really outstanding.

### "A good tool for the creation of web pages"

December 3, 2018

4.0

My experience with WordPress has been bittersweet since I think it is a tool that should be used by those who are not 100% clear as is the website they want since when we talk about a website made to measure I think the best is to resort to programming and creation through code, of course it is a very powerful tool and also has many plugis and worldwide support to be one of the most famous. This tool has helped me in several occasions to make work projects of simple websites, besides the implementation of payment systems is quite simple as well as the creation of pages that offer or sell services or products.

Pros

WordPress is a content manager that allows the creation of web pages and has very important positive aspects, first of all among all the options for the creation of a website is one of the best since the number of templates that exist allow achieve the product we want, also its integration with different payment methods or with different systems or components is quite broad and compatible, is constantly updated and therefore little by little improvement also can parameterize the security of the websites of so that it is impenetrable and finally that editing or uploading content becomes quite simple once the website is created.

Cons

WordPress despite being one of the best options in the market, in my opinion it has quite negative aspects, such as plugin costs or quality templates, they have to be somewhat high and in most cases it is inevitable not to have to go to these resources because to program these components would take a lot of time, besides that is heavy on the platform, also the constant updates sometimes cause incompatibilities that are solved after a certain time, among other things.

### "Flexible option for every website needs."

October 24, 2022

5.0

Exceptional experience indeed. You can go for this without second thoughts.

Pros

WordPress actually is flexible for whatever the need is. It provides variety of options from blogging to advance multi functional web apps. WordPress is compatible with thousands of plugins and themes. Moreover, to get complete customization over the website we can also build our own theme which can be installed and used seamlessly without any effort. Thousands of plugins allows us to add multiple functions which aren't there by default and most of them are completely free of costs. Creating a Forum, Ecommerce, Social Media, Blogging Websites & News Magazine Websites are really cost efficient and easy with WordPress.

Cons

WordPress.com doesn't allow adding custom domain to the free plan and installing plugins and themes are also limited to few options that they provide. WordPress does have open source version which doesn't have any limitations tho! They need to improve limitations on hosted version. I found the UI recently upgraded is really confusing for the new users.

It has allowed me to create dozens of blogs easily, in just minutes, and without any programming knowledge. I can do everything thanks to its free plugins.

Pros

The most remarkable thing is the ease of use, and is that any user without knowledge will be able to create and edit your blog to your liking. There are hundreds of free templates and plugins available so you can do almost anything.

### "A professional choice for highly reliable and secured websites with vast plugin choices. "

December 8, 2018

5.0

Wordpress has always been my first and foremost choice for preparing and designing highly reliable and secured websites for my clients. Due to high speed functionality and vast choice for themes , it is always easy to go with.

Pros

Wordpress has the advantage of maintaining content easily and more conveniently. There's also lots of plugins to choose from a multiple and diverse niches. Along with it , easy customization can done through plugins which is really easy. Wordpress themes are very much responsive due to user-friendly features.

Cons

Updates now and then often causes troubles in sorting the pre-arranged themes and disturbs a little in order to continue. Also , few of the unsecured plugins lead to insecurity that's why we have to be extra careful while choosing such unreliable plugins. Same case applies for those high coding themes which often causes slow in speed and customer experiences bad experience due to slow response.

### "Great for those with intermediate technological skill!"

November 17, 2020

4.0

It was definitely difficult to figure out in the beginning, and it was a bit tricky at first finding the various customizing options, but once you figure out how their software works, it's incredibly easy to use and helpful!

Pros

I like the versatility of the software, and the ability to customize it using not only WordPress add-ons, but those made by third parties for WordPress websites. I love the fact that it's an open-source program, so you have a wide variety of options to choose from, both free and paid for.

Cons

It does have a steep learning curve, though not nearly as difficult to work with as some other website-building software. It's fairly easy if you're going with a ready-made template, but becomes significantly more difficult the more you customize your site.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

### "Learning Curve but Powerful"

October 13, 2017

5.0

I have been converting all my existing and new clients to the Wordpress framework. It is great to offer smaller businesses this option to help them save on costs incurred with other CMS' that charge monthly fees.

Pros

Wordpress' advantage is working directly from a database, allowing users to start small and scale with growth and saving a good chunk of change in development. Because Wordpress is open-source and has a huge community built around it, you can get the help you need easily and for free. There really is no limit with what you can build on the Wordpress framework and you save money not having to pay monthly fees you would have to pay with other CMS software.

Cons

It can be a bit overwhelming to new users. If you like the options of scalability, work with a designer to build your site. Depending on your designer's experience level, they can customize the backend for you to meet your needs and make it less intimidating.

### "Excellent alternative to custom website platform"

December 29, 2020

5.0

So far, we've had an excellent experience working with WordPress. It's excelling at what we need it to do.

Pros

WordPress is the basis for all of the websites that we do for our clients. As an out-of-the-box CMS, I don't think that anything rivals it. WordPress bridges the gap between template-type options (like Squarespace and Wix) and fully-custom sites built on their own custom CMS from the ground up. WordPress gives us the flexibility to have a back-end that's easy to manipulate and update, while having a front-end that looks completely unique.

Cons

Depending on the widgets that you incorporate into WordPress, you can occasionally have inexplicable UI issues. Widgets are developed by individual developers (sometimes) and odd bugs can creep in. Other than that, I'm happy with WordPress.

### "Website building made easy"

October 9, 2021

4.0

Very satisfied

Pros

Easy to use - even for those of us with little to no experience in website building and maintenance. I run a small business - a rather tiny one, and I am a huge fan of simple designs and straightforward solutions. WordPress has all one might need to create not just simple but more complicated designs. Plenty of templates, hundreds upon hundreds of plugins, user-friendly dashboard - and even for free you can get to impressive levels. I cannot recommend it enough: blogs, websites, online stores - you name it.

Cons

It took me a lot of digging, tutorial watching and trial and error to figure everything out. BUT. Since WordPress is such a widely-used platform, there is a plethora of information and guidance in and around it. Whether it is customer service or forums, so far I found the answer/solution to all my questions/problems, and my website is up and running, working like a charm. If, like me, you have no experience with websites, patience and curiosity is key: the effort and time invested in the figuring-it-all-out pays off at the end of the day/month/season.

### "A must have tool for small to medium size organizations due to high functionality & low cost."

January 17, 2018

4.0

The ability to make a fully functional, professional looking website in an inexpensive manner. Way better option than Wix, which I used previously.

Pros

The software enables you to create a fully functional, professional looking website for a very limited fees. It also contains access to plug-ins, which will connect with the platform, to provide additional service the platform doesn't contain itself. For example, YOAST SEO is one of the most frequently used plug-ins, which allows the entry of customized metadata for all pages. A boatload of other plug-ins are available as well, such as form submission, content creation, and analytics. Different levels of packages are also available for organizations with varying degrees of service/functionality.

Cons

There's very little not to like about WordPress. Sometimes plug-ins won't play nicely together, resulting in some time consuming troubleshooting. Analytics are also not automatically recorded, a plug-in needs to be installed here as well (just like SEO). Essentially, plug-ins are the key to WordPress, and if you're unfamiliar with them, it could result in frustration. Customer support is also very limited (slightly better at premium levels), and you may also find support from forums and plug-in creators.

### "Great Website Platform for SEO"

March 14, 2021

5.0

Overall Wordpress is a great platform for web development. However you are not able to take care of or pay for the monthly maintenance, you could be setting yourself up for some real problems and in that case I would recommend another platform.

Pros

Our agency has been 95-99% Wordpress since about 2008. It's been a great platform providing beautiful looking websites that include sophisticated functionality and are great for building search engine presence.

Cons

You have to be prepared to keep up with monthly updates to Wordpress, the themes and plugins. We're finding this takes more and more time each month to keep everything dialed in so you either need to be prepared to do that yourself or pay someone to do it. Access to support can also vary widely for the themes and plugins so you have to be careful when selecting those. We've found ourselves stalled out badly with problems at times because a theme or plugin had terrible support.

Cons

WordPress is very good for Blogging and e-commerce. The only place I would want them to improve on, is on free templates. They should delete outdated templates.

### "If you're looking to build your own website then start here."

January 30, 2023

5.0

Positive. Sure, there are hurdles on the way but once you've installed, authored and launched your first Wordpress site, there really isn't anything left to scare you from doing it again and again.

Pros

Wordpress has been around for a long time. Whilst there are plenty of off-the-shelf / pay-by-the-month solutions for building either a blog, website or web store, Wordpress has number of things going for it: Loads of people use it = good support and knowledge bases; most web hosts offer a one-click install serve to get you and running; and there is a plethora of skins and templates to change the appearance of your design.

Cons

There is a learning curve. That said, the basic learning curve with Wordpress itself is pretty easy if you are conversant with most word processing packages like MS Word etc. Where it gets tricky is where you want to make customisations to a theme you may have downloaded for free or have bought. Depending on how friendly-to-understand your Wordpress theme is will hugely determine the ease with which it'll take to build your website. In short, buy a theme which has been purchased 1,0000s of times and offers a good support package - you'll be pleased you did.

Reason for choosing WordPress

The strength of its pre-existing user base and the depth of the support articles on hand.

### "Great web tool"

January 10, 2020

5.0

WordPress has helped me in many years and I feel happy since I have done several projects with this tool, it is easy and simple to work and all the people in the work team feel comfortable to be able to use it, also it brings efficiency due to the speed that you can get in the creation of web pages because when you have experience it is clear that you can do high quality projects and quickly with the tools it offers.

Pros

The essential characteristics of this tool is that it is very simple and easy to use and its website interface is very easy to understand, also if you have any questions you can search for tutorials and you will quickly have a lot of information to study and learn, it also has excellent utilities to creation of web pages with templates that make web creation very simple, fast and easy. It has many resources and options that can be used for every taste of the user, with a very good training you can use WordPress for websites in a professional way using a high quality hosting and good content you can get to position the web pages.

Cons

They should improve the interface of the assigned templates to be able to configure the website faster and easier and thus have a better quality of website and save time in each configuration, and I could also add that they should improve the loading speed of the websites when add-ons are added, however this is the only thing I can say that they would have to change because I feel quite comfortable using WordPress.

### "It is not an one for all solution, obviously"

January 25, 2021

5.0

There are better CMS alternatives in the market, but the popularity of WordPress made it be the "go to" solution.

Pros

The core WordPress is a stable and well-tested blog and small website software, content manager. It is flexible.

Cons

The biggest problem with WordPress is the lack of understanding that it is a blog software. Trying to use it as a one for all solution is very complicated, demanding a great number of plugins than not always work fine, creating Frankstein like solutions.

### "Very simple and effective platform"

August 28, 2018

5.0

Due to me being completely ignorant of the internet, SEO, and everything related to these things, I and my company were being taken to the cleaners day after day by unscrupulous marketing people who preyed on our ignorance and charged exorbitant prices for something as simple as creating a Google listing. Our online presence was a mess. I finally got fed up and began to immerse myself in learning all I could about online marketing, and soon decided to bring it all in-house. Best move ever. It took a long time and a lot of effort to get our online presence cleaned up but we now know that all of our listings are accurate and complete. I've enjoyed it and I feel that by writing and creating my own content I am able to have a leg up a lot of amateur or even professional copywriters and designers out there, because I know the ins and outs of my industry and can create content rich with a wide variety of industry-specific keywords or terms, whereas a person without knowledge of the work we do would use more generic verbiage which could potentially reduce the number of relevant search results we show up on. Because let's be honest, for every good professional web developer out there, there are ten who are mediocre or worse. No regrets.

Pros

I started with WordPress and zero knowledge of how to build websites. Using the many free and paid themes and plugins I was able to build a very professional-looking site that ranks very well in search results. I've gotten many compliments from the average user, web designers, and SEO people alike on my site, and they have a tough time believing me when I say I built it myself. Very happy.

Cons

The learning curve is steep, but that comes with the territory I'm sure when a person like me who has no experience or knowledge of graphic formatting, HTML code, etc sallies forth into the world of website design.

Pros

It is free. It is easy to install. There is no reason to use any other tool for blogging since wordpress has all the features you need to manage a website, very simple to very complex. Maie sure to install some must have plugins like wordfence, total cache and yoast seo. There are plugins for almost everything.

Cons

Unfortunately wordpress is also the preferred target for hackers. Make sure to setup wordfence with strict rules. You also have to keep it updated, so enable auto-updates even if they can break your themes or plugins.
