### "WordPress is the BEST CMS out there!"

July 6, 2018

5.0

WordPress is the BEST CMS for SEO/SEM.

Pros

As a website design and development company, 99% of the websites we build are on WordPress. It offers the best quality, features, functionality and value for our clients. The best thing is how easy it is to manage a live site (adding pages, content, images, etc.) Plus it is the best for SEO.

Cons

There isn't much to say that is negative about WordPress itself. The only thing that comes to mind is some of the WordPress themes out there are complicated to customize. We don't use themes often, since we typically build custom WordPress sites, but when we do use themes some of the are overly customized especially when they are industry specific.

### "The best platform to create your site own"

April 29, 2019

5.0

I love Wordpress because it was the first platform that came along and allowed you to create dynamic websites. One of the things that makes it so great is just how flexible it is. You have the freedom to create whatever you want - and aren't locked into a subscription like you are with Squarespace or Wix. There are also a lot of great plugins out that make building a website easier than it's ever been. The only downside with such an open platform, is that there's a lot that can go wrong as well. It's important to learn (or hire someone) to help keep your site secure and loading quickly.

Pros

\- Incredibly flexible - Plenty of addon software and plugins available - You're able to create any kind of site you want

Cons

\- All of this flexibility means that it can be a challenge to optimize security and site speed

### "The Swiss Army Knife of CMSes!"

August 31, 2021

5.0

Pros

\- Highly extensible. - Easy deployment. - Fast automatic security patches (via minor updates). - Frequently updated with new features.

Cons

Lacks native multilingual capabilities, though it can be added through external plugins. For a global CMS like WordPress, built-in multilingual functions should've given much higher priority.

### "A brilliant website hosting platform"

March 21, 2021

4.0

I have been working with WordPress for a long time and we have utilized it for some tasks in new companies and different ventures. It has astounding security and a great deal of advancement. With some plugins, you can make amazing stuff out of WordPress.

Pros

After a short learning period, you can start creating amazing websites. Practically any usefulness you need can be conveyed through a plugin. Odds are another person required something very similar and has concocted a decent arrangement, so looking through the huge vast community will lead you to the best answer for your own (or your client's) business.

Cons

It's truly clear when you utilize a WordPress site. Also, in case you're not cautious, it's not difficult to pull a Denial Of Service assault on, they don't even need to know coding to do it. Also every week, you might have to update the plugins you are using.

### "Nothing compares to WordPress"

July 8, 2020

5.0

Building a website used to be a huge pain. WordPress turned that around and now everyone can have the chance to have their website.

Pros

It's easy to use, reliable and there are thousands of developers that provide free plugins and themes that you can do anything you want with your WordPress Website.

Cons

It takes some time to learn the philosophy behind it. Sometimes websites load slowly but not significantly slowly, depending always from the theme you're using.

### "Good basic website"

December 4, 2019

3.0

Overall, I would say that we have had a positive experience with WordPress, although there is a lot of room for improvement. First, I would recommend increasing security, then focus on speeding up the overall platform/backend. Other than that, it's a great entry-level platform for anyone looking to build basic sites.

Pros

Easy to use, relatively easy to set up a basic website, easy to maintain, decent backend that provides good metrics on site visitors, etc.

Cons

While the WordPress platform is helpful in developing basic sites, it is still very clunky and slow. We have needed to buy external packages to create a reasonable site for 2019 and, while it works, the backend still functions rather slowly.

Alternatives considered

### "Start publishing on the web now"

November 27, 2018

5.0

Pros

WordPress is a widely used and supported web platform that has evolved from a blog service into a fully functional content management system. A multitude of paid and free plug-ins make customizing WordPress for your needs easy. Additionally, there are hundreds of developers and designers who are available to create or customize the platform for your needs.

Cons

Support options for WordPress are not always clear. While the online forums dedicated to the base system and to various plug-ins are helpful, depending on your level of expertise you may be best served in hiring an administrator to handle the technical details of implementation and integration with other tools.

### "Honest view"

May 30, 2019

4.0

Wordpress is really a great application and modern day web designers will agree to this,it has made my site designing easier than expected,i can play and twist anything i want as soon as i notice any fault with no worries of which codes to use

Pros

The honest truth about wordpress is that it saves time, the days of coding are gradually becoming something of the past, with wordpress you can build any type of site to fit whatever you want for yourself ,an organization or even the government without thinking of the next code to use or where to fix the code.may God bless the brain behind wordpress

Cons

My only worry about wordpress is creativity and upgrades. If there is any little upgrade then you need to check back all your settings, because any little change can make you almost break the site down,as you might not quickly notice where the fault originated from. As for the creativity, because themes can be downloaded, most modern site tends to look alike based on what gets the attention of the eye and this makes wordpress look less creative when viewed by professionals

### "Can We Survive without WordPress?"

November 7, 2018

4.0

I had been using a different platform for a few websites, but I went back to WordPress because, simply put, the expansion abilities with various plugins that I can find here.

Pros

This is one of the most prolific blog hosting platforms out there and as a result, there are thousands of plugins, template themes, and forums that can help even the novice web developer and blogger get started. It's become far more than just a blogging platform, though, as you can build and establish your own ecommerce outlet, share content on social media, and more from your WordPress site.

Cons

Until the development of some plugins that give you visual editing capabilities that were easier to use, it was a bit complicated. For the complete beginner, without guidance and a really good 'how to' book with step-by-step instructions, it can quickly turn into a test of will. I'd been frustrated beyond measure years ago just trying to build a simple site, but thankfully there are easier tools to get there (though they also require some level of practice to get a handle on them).

### "WordPress - website option to consider but must keep WordPress hosting, theme, and plugins updated."

December 20, 2018

4.0

I like WordPress and the websites that can be quickly created using it. As long as the site is kept updated the site will perform great and be useful for all visitors. Depending on where you host the site... it can be one of the lowest cost ways to have a website (that is not ad-supported).

Pros

WordPress is a great website builder choice for 2018... (it wasn't always an option I would recommend... as back 5-7 years ago it was not nearly as good as it is today) but in the last few years WordPress has become a stable and reliable option for a website and/or blog. For most websites, it is usually lower overall cost to use WordPress than it is to use a service like Weebly or SquareSpace for a site.

Cons

The WordPress website admin/owner must make sure that the WordPress hosting, theme, and all plugins are kept updated at least monthly. Without that attention the website will degrade or not show at all. Once the website fails you better have a backup manager setup so you can restore the files and database or you may not get back into the website without using the sFTP access, which can require knowledgeable assistance.

### "Extremely Versatile Platform, Always Improving"

September 9, 2021

5.0

I have created and maintained many websites in WordPress over the last decade or so. The platform is reliable and has kept pace with new developments. It may not be as clean and spiffy as some of the newer options, but I think it more than makes up for that in its capabilities.

Pros

+WordPress offers a very robust free version. +Paid version has seamless integration with domain/hosting services. +Great editing tools built into the system. +Lots of free an premium themes and templates to choose from.

Cons

\-Right to Left language support is very poor. I maintain one blog in Urdu and a single word of English breaks the editor. -Forms, calendars, and listserv features that are available rely on plug-ins that are sometimes built by third-parties and cannot be relied upon.

### "Going Strong But For How Long?"

October 19, 2018

4.0

Pros

WordPress has been my go-to for website and blog design for the better part of the last decade. WordPress' open source format allows for people brave enough to bootstrap some code and build a truly, from the ground up, custom website. I learned everything I know about front end web development by using WordPress.

Cons

WordPress will always be a favorite and go-to for me but it's had some steep competition from other more streamlined site creators and services. For people with a deeper sense of curiosity and the extra time to learn a new coding language, WordPress is irreplaceable. But, if you are short on time I can see choosing one of the newer companies out there.

### "Dont know what I would do without WordPress!"

April 28, 2020

5.0

I have set up over a dozen WordPress websites and the process is intuitive, easy to understand, many templates are available, and it is a very well known product so a lot of support is available.

Pros

WordPress is by far the easiest product to use to build a website. There are SO MANY extensions and add ons that allow you to customize the website to your liking.

Cons

The basics are pretty simple, but if you want a website with more features you need to have some coding experience. I wish it were all user friendly to the point where coding experience wasn't necessary.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Because it is very well know, it is a stable platform, and there are many extensions that have been built because its open source.

### "I build websites and give website support for Wordpress"

July 26, 2018

5.0

Wordpress is free and the community is incredible, so it's a really good choice for creating your personal website or a business website.

Pros

Wordpress is a great web plateform for small-medium business. With specific design templates (like DIVI or others) we can build a website at lower cost than other plateform, and it's free. I like to be able to install multiples plugins to get what my client needs. Wordpress is my day to day job, so I love it. I make my living for me and my big family with Wordpress ... yeah !

Cons

Sometimes Wordpress in unstable with some web hosting, or specific plugins or templates. We must know the core of Wordpress to be able to develop something strong and reliable.

### "An easy to use content management system"

February 1, 2023

5.0

Excellent overall experience, Wordpress is a content management system that I use almost every day. It is free and easy to use.It allows you to do almost anything you want as long as you have some web skills.

Pros

I like Wordpress for its ease of building and creating websites. An interesting feature is its use on different devices such as a tablet, a cell phone. This allows a certain mobility.Wordpress offers a real drag-and-drop platform that is very practical even for computer laymen to build their own website according to their taste.

Cons

The least appreciated in this software is sometimes when downloading a photo, it takes a little too long. Also the storage is very limited.

### "The written word, for everyone"

March 15, 2021

5.0

Pros

It's not easy making a website from scratch, especially if you just want to get content out there. WordPress makes it easy to build a website and start making content, worrying about the look and developing the site later. It's great for making a blog, or just sharing recipes and over time developing it into a full-fledged website.

Cons

To do the more advanced features you have to know a little bit about coding, which is par for the course, but it'd be nice if some of those features that can be done for free were not put behind a pay wall. Though some of them make sense, there are others that would be easier if it was part of the freemium sub.

Wordpress is a beginner friendly tool that gives you control of your blog or website in terms of look and feel of your website. A little knowledge of IT helps the user to more effectively deploy and maintain the website build and hosted with wordpress.

Pros

Affordable solution. Mobile friendly. Lot of available themes. Ecommerce sites friendly.

Cons

Page speed is usually slow. Lots of plugins required. SEO ranking is not that good.

### "You get a lot for free"

July 30, 2018

5.0

Ability to create a relatively cost-effective website for my business.

Pros

I've used WordPress for two different blog sites. I love the ability to have a blog post automatically publicized to my selected social media sites and to truncate the post in order to drive interested readers back to the site. I also love the WYSIWYG interface of the WP Bakery plug-in, though there definitely is a learning curve.

Cons

I don't like that the free website themes all seem to have tiny headers. I wound up purchasing a theme f because, as far as I could tell, that was the only way to size my header appropriately. I picked a theme that touted its user-friendliness and easy-to-import demos, but then it wound up being so difficult for me to use that I spent on a web developer -- I am a reasonably capable person and already had experience with WordPress, but I simply didn't have the time to figure it out with my current workload. I will say, now that it's set up and my developer showed me how to do certain things, I'm able to use it just fine.

### "Best open source website building tool"

February 3, 2019

5.0

I've been using Wordpress for a variety of projects, starting from a simple blog to a website with commercial capabilities integrated.

Pros

Wordpress is very powerful and capable tool, and at the same time even a very beginner person can figure out how to build a website with it. It has a lot of support, it undergoes constant changes and improvements, and it has an amazing community where people are happy to help and share their knowledge. In addition to core themes and widgets, Wordpress allow installation of additional themes and widgets, and, given you have a knowledge of the tool, PHP, and html with css, you can create your own design and functionality, the exact way you want it. Majority of hosting companies will have support for it.

Cons

It may require you some trials and errors or even a professional developer's help to add complicated custom features or even configure existing ones, but it totally worth it. Also, there might be situations when you will have to do changes on backend and that may also require technical knowledge.

As a developer, I have always suggested my clients to go with Wordpress, as it is easier to manage even for a non technical or programmer. Cons

The websites built in WordPress are Vulnerable to security threats if we do not upgrade the code as it releases. But if we upgrade, the theme files gets messed sometimes.

### "Wordpress made building a website and starting a business so much easier"

December 21, 2018

5.0

I love Wordpress. I think this is something everyone should learn and use. We are living in a time where everything we do involves the internet or some sort of technology.

Pros

Wordpress let’s you build any type of website and it’s really easy. Of course there’s a subscription to pay, but you would have to pay almost the same amount with any other hosting site. At first I thought Wordpress was a bloggers site, which is what it is normally used for, but you can do so much more with it. I created a webcam video chat site using plugins and different themes. You don’t have to go through Wordpress if you want to host a Wordpress website. Other host services also have Wordpress hosting for you and some of the other guys are way cheaper.

Cons

The prices for the subscriptions are a little bit pricey, but you always have the option of using another hosting service.

Pros

wordpress has a million different plugins and has a database attached to it and it has a completly back-end content mangement system that allows to go in there and add post, edit pages and things like that to our liking.

Cons

It limits our ability to learn UI design, visual design, HTML, css , Because wp has an existing pre-built website templates and a million different plugins all we need to customize to our liking .
