### "Wordpress provides a simplistic way to design build and implement a great functioning website"

July 11, 2018

5.0

Pros

Wordpress is a fantastic platform for beginners, intermediate and advanced website builders. Its funtionaility is second to none with a vast array of plugins and themes that can make it anything you want. I have built websites that span from online elearning platforms, ecommerce, splash and landing pages with relative ease. The Wordpress community is also great when it comes to newbies. You can post a question on the forums and receive a reply within a couple of hours.

Cons

The software can become fiddley when you have a number of plugins running at the same time. As the plugins are usually coded by different people sometimes inadequencies within the code can cause issues with the stability of your website. You then have to go through a series of elimination by disabling all plugins and bringing them online one at a time to check which one the culprit is. For this reason its always a great idea to have a staging site before pushing the changes to the live server.

### "Very technical"

October 20, 2022

3.0

We have a very specific situation and we could implement it on WordPress but we haven’t been able to improve some options because we don’t have technical support. We also had big spam issues.

Pros

There is a wide variety of settings and add-ons that can be used for different purposes.

Cons

It is a software very difficult to use if you technical skills are on the low side

### "WordPress - Powerful Platform to Create Your Amazing Websites"

November 10, 2019

5.0

I have been using the platform for testing purposes. I mean I try to make my own projects and see if it is easy or not because I was listening from my friends for that Platform and finally decided to take a look at it. And the result was awesome because many things impressed me. Even further I am thinking of learning to create WordPress themes which I found challenging and interesting. I pretty recommend everyone who is end-user or even a programmer to test and work with the platform because it saves you a lot of time with a lot of functionalities that it supports.

Pros

I think WordPress is a very cool platform because of: 1. You can create your own website, as well as you can use the platform to create websites for other people. You can easily fit your needs with a few clicks. 2. There is a free version - you can use it for very small projects or you can just try the platform and if you like it there are very cool pricing plans that for me are not expensive and can meet different scenarios for every end-user or software developer. 3. There are a lot of templates - some of them free, which can meet your needs and help you create your powerful site or your beautiful portfolio. 3. You do not need to be a designer or a programmer to build your site. You just need to have the idea and you can easily drag and recreate your site intuitively and fastly. 4. They can host your site for you and you can change its content whenever you want and the changes are published immediately and can be seen from your clients. Of course, you can update your website from everywhere you are and from any device because everything is on the cloud and you can access it through your account. 5. If you have some knowledge in programming, you can create your personal themes and sell them, which is a cool job because you can sell your websites and end-users can just edit them in an intuitive way. 6. It is so big platform, so you have a lot of cool things to explore when creating your website.

Cons

Since my experience with the platform, I haven't seen any issues. On the contrary, I saw many things that I did not expect which grabbed my attention.

### "Amazing CMS for a functional website"

December 21, 2018

5.0

Pros

As an open source platform, plugins and templates are easily available and allow for lots of customization. Tons of flexibility - can be used for a basic, simple website but also for a much more complex website.

Cons

Because it's relatively intuitive and easy to use, it's been promoted as a CMS that "anyone" can use - I don't believe this is true...and people who are not tech-savvy can really mess things up. Although permission levels can be set, a lot of clients don't want to feel like a developer is keeping them "out" of their own website, but it can be frustrating when inexperienced users inadvertently mess up the site.

### "Easy to start. Ideal CMS for website MVP"

February 16, 2021

5.0

Thanks to huge WordPress developers society, every year is more easily to find great developer to create site using WordPress from zero. Even without help from developer, you can find a bunch of free tutorials. With great variety of plugins, templates and code snippets even with basic knowledge of HTML and PHP you can build your MVP website.

Pros

Easy to use. A lot of plugins, templates and code snippets. Huge base of documentation. Large community of developers. Cheap to maintain and integrate with your API or 3rd party services.

Cons

Some integrations are overpriced. Most paid templates have a lot of bugs. There are security bugs - keep your eye on regular updates.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

### "Takes just 10 minutes to launch a new website"

May 7, 2019

5.0

I love making a new website for all my ideas without putting too much time and energies in technicalities of CMS.

Pros

Thanks to the echo system developed around Wordpress, you can find thousands of themes & plugins for almost every requirement. Most of the web hosting providers offer one click installation. In less than 10 minutes, you can create an amazing website. Focus on producing content and forget about the technicalities of a CMS.

Cons

The popularity is a double edged sword. Wordpress websites are more prone to be hacked than any other CMS because of its popularity. It requires to be kept updated and all best practices applied to keep it secure.

### "The CMS everyone should be using"

September 30, 2021

5.0

Pros

I see WordPress as the most robust content management system out there. I like the fact that a WordPress website or a webpage can be customized pretty much in any way you want to give it the feel and look you wished for. Pre-built themes ensure that you can quickly and easily pick a "look" for your website, while plugins let you enhance what your website does and offer to its visitors (and to you, as the admin). If you are new to the WordPress world, I would recommend picking one of the main builders available so that you can build webpages without having to resort to coding, rather by following the WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) approach.

Cons

The main challenge of WordPress is that, in all likelihood, you are going to be needing to use a little bit of coding in order to be able to customize a webpage or website the way you wanted it to look like. Theme and plugins will help you, but if you don't know absolutely anything when it comes to coding, customizing – or trying to customize – a WordPress site isn't going to be easy

### "Perfect product if you know what you are looking for"

May 18, 2018

5.0

It has helped me to run my blog for the last ten years.

Pros

WordPress is easy to set up and even easier to use. The UI is clean and simple and helps me to get my writing done efficiently. To run my blog, it is the most elegant solution I could wish for. If you are working on a different, more demanding project, you should decide carefully if it is the right software for you before you invest all your resources into it. Even so, you will always find help in case something doesn't work. The huge open source community is WordPress - greatest feature.

Cons

While easy to install and configure on the surface, a lot of the features are hidden deeper. If you want to use WordPress in a way that it wasn't designed to be used out of the box, you will find yourself throwing around code snippets in your template directory or installing countless plugins of varying quality. It might be wise to try a range of different CMS products first to figure out what the demands of your project are and find the solution that is best for you.

### "Great basic way to get started with a content-focused website"

December 3, 2018

5.0

I've written for several content-focused websites that have used WordPress as a content management system, and currently run my own blog on the service. It's been around since 2016.

Pros

Wordpress is the industry leader for a reason. It's easy to figure out (WYSIWYG), no-risk (free to start), and has a huge community of other users, meaning there's lots of support, mods, and general know-how going around. The software is reliable and has a history of quality. It's also easy to get collaboration teams going with user permissions.

Cons

Wordpress lowers customization options to make you pay for stuff. I also don't like the storage limit, which rival Blogger doesn't have.

### "Make a homepage with ease! "

July 18, 2019

5.0

I have had my WP host page for five years and love it! I wouldn't change it for the world.

Pros

WordPress has so many customizable options and pre-existing themes to choose from, making it so much easier to use than some other more complicated hosting sites. For this reason alone, I prefer them.

Cons

WP can be somewhat confusing at first, but once you learn how to navigate the system it is very easy to work with.

### "Wordpress, why are you so finicky?"

June 9, 2017

3.0

Pros

If your website has a blog component, word press probably is the best available. And, considering a majority of websites do host blogs, most people have probably had some experience with it or will need to use it. Even without much background in using this kind of program, most people should be able to muddle through it. It's pretty straightforward, there won't be many surprises.

Cons

On the face of it, word press is supposed to be easy to customize. while you can do some customization, it is so tricky and glitchy for the average user, it's tremendously frustrating to use. Even just to simply make formatting changes in a blog post, you can often end up with errant little bits of code that come out of nowhere, change the look of what you're trying to do, and not let you change anything back. Although you shouldn't need to know how to write code, if you don't, You will almost certainly be stuck at some point, unable to change something and having no idea why the program is not responsive. Even something as simple as text alignment can go completely haywire, seemingly for no reason. For something that supposed to be user-friendly, it can be incredibly unfriendly a lot of the time.

### "Building and customizing a website tailored to your specific needs has never been easier."

March 16, 2018

5.0

It makes building and customizing websites really simple, even for those that have very little site-building experience or knowledge.

Pros

The basic features that Wordpress offers are great in and of themselves, but the true magic of this software comes from its ability to be customized! There are thousands of themes and plug-ins that work with Wordpress to make a site be just about anything you want it to be, and do just about anything you want it to do. Wordpress itself is free to use, you just need to have hosting, and there is a vast myriad of hosting services that not only support but also encourage the use of Wordpress installs. A lot of people commonly assume that Wordpress is just for blogs and that hasn't been true in ages. It is fantastic for blogs, but it can do so much more.

Cons

It would be very nice if the admin bar and the nav menu on the left in the admin area could be more easily adjusted and arranged natively. Additionally, I think it would be better if customer user types and permissions were handled natively also.

### "CMS for novice to enterprise level."

September 19, 2018

5.0

My team is geared more towards BI, so WordPress wasn't something we've had extensive experience with. But when we had to start using WordPress, it was really easy to on-board another team's member and start developing a few core websites. We also worked in parallel with another company that used another CMS, so it was nice to see how versatile WordPress was in comparison.

Pros

It's the main to go CMS that everyone needs to have some familiarity with if they've ever done any kind of website design or management. As such, I found that it was easy to get help and procure talent knowledgeable about WordPress. It's also incredibly robust and versatile. The interfaces are simple and intuitive, I've had non-designers easily make changes. Plugins are also a great value-add. The last time that I checked, I believe there were 50,000 or so plugins available. They can range from darkening a theme, to SEO, to analytics functions. Users don't really lack for options with WordPress.

Cons

Personal support is quite lacking compared to some dedicated enterprise CMS and I'm not surprised. Every entry level site designer has used WordPress at some point and it's unreasonable to think that they can support everyone. Most problems can be solved by exploring the vast forums, FAQS, and dedicated links. I've also received decent turnaround time for any inquiries I submit.

### "Excellent CMS, which allows creating flexible sites"

January 27, 2018

5.0

\- Convenient administrator panel; - Support for themes and plug-ins; - Automatic installation of important updates; - Active OpenSourse-community, developing and developing CMS; - Rapid elimination of critical vulnerabilities by the developer community.

Pros

I'm engaged in Web development and I constantly have to deal with different CMS and platforms, on the basis of which websites and portals work. Of all the CMS I had to work with, I selected WordPress for myself, which I often use to develop sites of medium complexity. In CMS WordPress you can create business cards, sell pages, corporate websites, as well as full-fledged online stores (by expanding the capabilities of CMS with the WooCommerce plugin). CMS WordPress is a fairly safe system, subject to competent tuning and quality service.

Cons

Since WordPress was launched in 2003 and was originally intended for blogging, the CMS has an outdated structure and logic of work for the sake of maintaining compatibility and the ability to update sites created many years ago.

### "Easy content system"

December 11, 2019

5.0

Fabulous experience, managed to design my own website with YouTube tutorials. Made a few mistakes but had an excellent learning curve.

Pros

Its quiet easy to use the software has plugins that you can use to upscale your website. It can also be used by someone without coding skills to design their on website and install plug ins so that one has a unique functional website. There are many themes to choose from as well and a lot can be customized to ensure that there is no duplicate web designs. even their hosting prices are quite reasonable too.

Cons

Perhaps a small disadvantage it has is the need for constant updates on the plug ins. Otherwise its a very good software and is used by millions of people. Also one needs to understand how to properly extend WordPress\` functionality and also the right plugin to use.

### "In this day and age, who doesn't use wordpress?"

December 6, 2018

5.0

My experiences with wordpress have been very positive both in addressing client needs and in using it for my own business's web presence.

Pros

It's FREE. And it WORKS. And it works WELL. Seriously, everyone is using it. There is so much support in the way of communities dedicated to various users and levels, plugins and accessories both free and paid, the resources can't be beat. You can find a pro to address whatever need you might have in the development process without even blinking an eye. You will never find yourself in a pickle because this platform is so ubiquitous.

Cons

Updates can be scary when you have older plugins that run parts of your site.

I've used wordpress for years and wouldn't have it any other way. I think Wordpress is the most accessible and user friendly option for bloggers.

Pros

I love that it is user friendly and affordable. It comes with a Reader that helps you belong to the wordpress community of other bloggers. It has a lot of great and necessary plugins and is widely recognized!

Cons

What I like least is that there isn't a Chat help option for support.

### "WordPress really offers everything one can imagine"

December 14, 2018

5.0

I've done just about everything with WordPress that one can do. I have been using it heavily to build sites and plugins and themes for about seven years and have never encountered something I couldn't do with it.

Pros

WordPress is a really solid foundation to build on top of. Since it has the largest market share, it has been the most heavily scrutinized. It has had the most developers stress testing it, fixing bugs, closing security holes, expanding features, and so on. Because of this, I feel safer and more free using it than any alternative.

Cons

Because it really does allow anything, there's naturally a bit of work to be done to get a really nice site fully operational.

### "The platform we have built our business off of. "

January 4, 2019

5.0

Pros

We have used WordPress for the entire life of our business for every website we have built. We chose WordPress for the ease of use for our clients. The Admin portals are easy to use and over all of the features that our clients wanted. It also was simple for us to upload our custom themes into WordPress. We also use WordPress for the thousands of plugins available. This greatly reduces our build time and saves us and our clients time and money. The user interface is simple and easy to use, which was also a big plus for us.

Cons

We don't have any major issues with WordPress since we can customize it as much as we need.

### "Work Required but not Hard to Learn"

May 15, 2019

4.0

After putting in the time, my experience with WordPress has been overall positive. I'm happy with my results and it did not take too long to learn how to create the website that I wanted.

Pros

I've built two websites using WordPress and I'm happy with how they both turned out. I used the templates that were provided by WordPress and tweaked them to my preferences. They look like professional websites instead of something that someone threw together, but that is because I took the time to make them look that way using the features provided. If you're just looking for the basic pages like "Home", "FAQ". "Contact Us", "Our services", WordPress makes that easy.

Cons

WordPress requires taking time to learn how to use it. It's not 100% idiot-proof but you definitely don't need a masters degree to use it. If someone doesn't dedicated time/effort to the software, the website will not look professional. It is difficult to have a larger number of pages. If you want a separate page per blog post, WordPress does not have that feature (that I have found)

### "LOVE/HATE with Wordpress"

November 11, 2017

5.0

Pros

What I LOVE about Wordpress, is that there are so many Bloggers that use it. It makes my blog look professional and there are so many choices for themes, integrations and plug ins. It is very diverse and also integrates with my domain manager Godaddy.com I also like that there is a community of users who an help with support, if not actual support from WP.

Cons

There is no ACTUAL support from Wordpress, but the good news is that there is a GLOBAL Community of other users who can help. I HATE when it crashes and I never know why. I have to disable all of my plug ins to figure things out.....a lot of trial and error.

### "Endless Possibilities!"

September 25, 2018

4.0

Has been hosting my site since 2016! And for many years more.

Pros

I love that I can just add in plugins. BY FAR the BEST thing about wordpress is all the useful little things you can always add on. It really is very versatile and with a great theme or plugin developer, you can really create an excellent, professional site on your own.

Cons

Navigation can be confusing. Sometimes a plugin can be right in the main menu or you'll have to go around searching for it in the submenus. Because you can add on so many different plugins, there can be overlaps, and you soon get confused as to, for example, which social media plugin to use for 1 page.

You have different functionalities that will help you improve your blog day by day. You can use different templates with very nice designs that adapt whatever your project is. Cons
