### "Template Websites - Not Recommended for Pro Use. Building From Scratch - Highly Recommend "

March 5, 2019

3.0

Wordpress is a great tool when used by reliable designers. I enjoy the flexibility and ease of use of building a custom website from scratch.

Pros

WordPress is great if you need a simple template based design and you don't alter it much. Its very cost effective, and most hobbyists can afford it. If you are planning on using a template for your business, I highly recommend not using WordPress as you are very limited on what you can do. If you plan on using WordPress in a professional capacity, I highly suggest building your website from scratch, so you can have complete control and no limits to SEO & functionality.

Cons

For building from scratch there are no cons. I highly enjoy using it. But template based websites from WordPress have may limitations (like SEO), hidden costs, and basic things needed for a website, you are charged for at sometimes a crazy rate. If you are not familiar or proficient in coding I would not recommend using WordPress.

### "You can't argue with half the sites on the internet!"

February 3, 2019

5.0

Pros

We previously used WordPress for our Customer Support Center. We have since migrated all of our support docs to a shared system with our ticketing application. This wasn't because we no longer liked WordPress, but rather to meet other business needs. I still love WordPress and haven't given up on the old site yet. WordPress is fantastic and gives you so many options to customize your site and still have a solid backend. The amount of support from the community and other resellers is bar non, and you can always just build your own theme.

Cons

Because it is so popular (like Windows OS) it is also the target of continued malware attacks. We get anywhere from 5 to 50 unauthorized login attempts each day (usually from eastern Europe). So while that isn't a drawback on the software itself, it is something to consider if you are going to be using wordpress, expect (and be prepared for) people trying to get in.

### "It's the gold standard for a reason"

November 5, 2019

5.0

I am a longtime small business owner. I have used both third party platforms and wordpress and love wordpress. It is user friendly so it is easy to ramp up your own skills, both so you can be an educated buyer of website services and so you can make some changes on your own. But by choosing wordpress you know you have flexibility and capabilities you need so you won't run into large issues.

Pros

Total flexibility. Selecting Wordpress, you can do whatever you need to. You're not tied to any third party platforms or technology.

Cons

Since the software itself is free, you would think it would be low cost, but your cost comes in the developer time. However, if you take the time to educate yourself you can minimize that and buy developer time wisely.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Far superior, flexibility, no risk to your domain by tying yourself to a third party. With wordpress you own your site outright and can take it anywhere.

### "There are better CMS tools out there"

September 4, 2021

3.0

I switched to Wix years ago and one of the main reasons is that WordPress felt outdated. Moreover, as compared to Wix, its design is a little complicated to navigate through (or maybe you don't feel like navigating through it because of its interface). All in all, I find WordPress only average and only ideal for someone new or irregular to blogging.

Pros

WordPress is one of the first blog writing websites. It goes without saying that it has really made blogging an easy and popular medium of expression among the masses. It was a go-to blog site for anyone who wished to start blogging a few years ago. But honestly, in today's time and age, there are better blog sites out there, offering far more advanced features. However, its simple and neat interface is still liked by many. For someone new at blogging, it is fairly easy to navigate through the website and get used to its features. And most importantly, the ability to know exactly how your blog/website will look once it is published is supreme!

Cons

As mentioned above, there are better alternatives out there. In 2021, WordPress doesn't really feel 2021, hence feels a little outdated especially in terms of its interface and design. Its free plan is okay for a newbie but for a professional, there aren't many helpful features in the free version and the paid version isn't exactly worth it.

### "WordPress Makes Website Building and Maintenance an Ease"

October 13, 2022

5.0

I would highly recommend WordPress to anyone who wants to build a website.

Pros

WordPress is easy to use and a great value. It also makes the maintenance end of having an on-line store easy.

Cons

It took a little bit of trial and error to master all the functions.

### "The easiest CMS for building websites but still a few hiccups"

October 31, 2018

4.0

Overall we believe Wordpress is the best choice for rolling out new websites for ourselves and our clients. The ease of development on this CMS has made it our preferred platform for over 5 years.

Pros

What I love most about this software platform is the myriad of plugins and themes that developers have made. You can create just about any type of website if you buy the right theme and plugins.

Cons

One glitch I have seen with Wordpress is that it constantly shows update icons for plugins, even when there are no updates needed. It causes a little bit of a concern regarding attention to detail with all of the new updates.

### "Great System"

December 10, 2019

5.0

We are using WordPress for 5+ sites for our business all in different capacities for different purposes. Great tool to utilize as a base product that can serve many different purposes.

Pros

Easy to create a website with a variety of features - blog, informational microsite, transaction eComm site. With all of the plugins available, you're hard pressed to find something that can't be done with a plugin out of the box.

Cons

It's an open-source software and anyone can develop plugins for it. While the plugins are convenient, it quickly can become messy when updating and plugins collide causing features to stop working.

### "Completely changed the web industry"

September 21, 2018

5.0

WordPress has allowed a novice to learn how to build websites and has allowed small business owners (who have enough patience and skill) to build and manage their own website.

Pros

WordPress is an incredible tool to build websites. You can do everything from simple blogs to complex websites that integrate with various systems, processes, etc. I have built and worked on over 30 WordPress websites over the past 8 years. I have done everything from blogs to e-commerce websites and each one looks unique and different. By using themes and plugins, the options are limitless. It is my favorite content management system by far.

Cons

Because it is so limitless it can be daunting and overwhelming for users. There are so many plugins and features that it's hard to know the best way to go for each situation. However, my solution to this problem is just research as much as you can and be careful when installing plugins. Also, it required me to learn a new code (PHP).

### "If You Are Good At HTML/CSS, You Can Make a Great Blog/Website"

December 3, 2019

4.0

Overall, it was a bit challenging getting my site up and running but with help from some friends, I was able to get it up and running smoothly.

Pros

I like the number of things that you can do to your website. You can make your site look like a retail online store, you can create your own blog, you can make your Wordpress site anything you want it to be. The possibilities are endless!

Cons

The only thing about Wordpress that is challenging is that if you aren't necessarily experienced with Wordpress, it can be difficult to get the design, layout, and functionality you want out of your blog or website.

### "WordPress Review"

I would recommend this product. This platform can be used for a basic project or something more complex. Either way, the ease of use is a big plus.

Pros

I do not have any true coding experience and this software makes it extremely easy to building a website and/or blog. I've used this software on multiple projects and the final product comes out great each time.

Cons

Some features I could not access without contacting customer support for their assistance. I believe when using this software for my company's purposes, we should have had access to all areas without having to reach out on an almost weekly basis.

### "Easy to learn even for...all!!"

September 12, 2018

4.0

Most of the time, Wordpress helped an inexperienced user (like me ) keep a clean and tidy site with ease. There were times though that my life as the owner of the website became hell. Those bad times were pretty few but very "painful"

Pros

The plurality of the plugin you wish to add are there waiting for you, already researched by the developers and tested with reviews from owners of Wordpress sites.

Cons

Wordpress most of the times after the updates (that are very constant) might crash your site because it cannot test your site before upgrading it. So, be extra careful of when you will upgrade to a newer version of Wordpress!!!

### "Super customizable, lots of plugins, great overall"

November 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

WordPress (.org version) is a fantastic content management system. It has a bit of a learning curve, but as you use it more and more, you realize you can create almost anything you could imagine with it. Before I started diving into the development side of things with WordPress, I still had a lot of flexibility with my site. There are tons of plugins to choose from in the WordPress directory, and with them you can add almost any functionality you could think of.Once you start going behind the code and using PHP and custom WordPress functions, even more functionality can be added.

Cons

As I said, there's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using WordPress. Having some coding knowledge (at least some basic HTML and CSS) is recommended but not required.

### "Great way to start creating websites."

March 17, 2020

4.0

A great way to start developing websites, plenty of information to keep you working in a fast pace, and it is way more cheaper to have than something like Shopify ( in case of ecommerce)

Pros

Ease of use is great, it is quite capable without plugins, and whenever it comes a need for plugins there are thousands of resources that will fit your needs, a lot of plugins are free, plenty of information to go deeper into wordpress development.

Cons

When it comes to do specific things or requirements, it can be a little tricky, there are some restricionts that will now allow you to fulfill specific requirements, there's where some expensive plugins come in place to make it work again. CSS developers agree that wordpress is restrictive.

Switched from

[Shopify](https://www.capterra.com/p/83891/Shopify/)

You can have a wordpress ecommerce working for free. Shopify is at least around $70/mo with the same features you can add in wordpress after spending hosting and domain.

### "The grid is not so fluid"

April 3, 2019

3.0

For me it has been poorer than with other CMSs.

Pros

I liked the plugin marketplace and how simple it is to install and update the installed plugins. They are all in the same place and it is very easy to uninstall, also. The massive amount of plugins available are an advantage.

Cons

The grid is a bit rigid and the overall experience is less fluid and harder to achieve the result you need than with other CMSs. This can be solved with third party templates but after a time of building many sites for clients it becomes difficult having to pay many memberships for each template builder.

### "Easy to use with basic web building knowledge"

October 18, 2022

Pros

I like the versatility of this software and the ability to connect to mostly every type of 3rd party software on the web.

Cons

The software can be glitchy and fail to save front end updates and requires some basic website building and technical knowledge.

### "Web Design"

November 14, 2019

5.0

I use Wordpress every day and feel like it helps me to individualize each and every website i do specific for each company.

Pros

As a full time web designer, I can honestly say that this is my most consistent interface that i've ever used. I build all my websites on this programing system and love its customizability

Cons

There should be a "daily editor" feature for my clients to edit pieces of their own site without having to consult me. Im talking like a super easy friendly app that a store owner could edit something like a menu or add inventory.

### "Best CMS out there"

February 9, 2021

My whole business is based on it, its an amazing platform that we will not be changing any time soon.

Pros

An amazing library of addons that can make almost any function possible. From document passworded pages to portfolio systems Wordpress has it all.

Cons

The security could be improved but to be fair it's usually a third party plugin, not the Wordpress cms itself.

### "Wordpress the best software to make your website"

March 14, 2020

5.0

The problem I solved using wordpress software is that when my business start to grow I needed to make a website for myself but i didn't about coding that is when I Found wordpress software and it helped me to make an amazing website without even knowing about coding. I really like this amazing software and I like their updates.

Pros

The most thing I like about wordpress software is that it allow me to make website very easy without need to learn about coding. It also very amazing features and themes that makes the website more amazing and dynamic. It is Easy and simple to use not need to much effort to learn how to use it.

Cons

The least thing I like in wordpress software in my opinion is that everything need to be downloaded so i can use in my website when I make it. I think If they make all these features active and not needed to be downloaded and the owner of the website when he make his own website Choose what to remain active and what is not. I think that will be very good Otherwise I like everything in this software.

### "Excellent Website Builder"

June 25, 2020

5.0

I think that the overall experience with Wordpress is excellent. I like the interface of Wordpress and I find the templates very attractive. Though I faced a lot of trouble in the beginning to understand different plugins but after few days I was able to understand it. I think before you start to build your website on WrordPress you should go through tutorials, it would be very helpful.

Pros

It is the easiest tool to create website. The good thing is that if you don’t have technical and coding skills, you can still use WordPress seamlessly to build a perfect website. The interface of WordPress is intuitive. There are very good plugins which you can add to your websites. I find these plugins very helpful. There are attractive templates which you can use while creating a website on WordPress.

Cons

WordPress is a good website developing tool but I think that for beginners it would be a great challenge to build a website from scratch. Though it is easy to create website as you don’t need any coding skill to build your website on WordPress but it is time consuming as there are lots of plugins that you need to understand before you it apply to your website.

### "Powerful, Customized Websites Without the use of Code "

December 10, 2019

4.0

As far as CMS is concerned, I have used several different plateforms but I always go back to using Word Press. The way that it is structured, the unlimited possibilities regarding its design, features and security make it a win win for me and my many website projects.

Pros

I like that fact that there an unlimited number of options, plugins and resources dedicated to making website design be whatever the client needs it to be. I have used hundreds of different plugins, themes and other options with a variety of clients and WordPress is my go to foundation to build these sites from.

Cons

Sometimes, having to many options to choose can be a bad thing. I am glad that there are so many users that help weed through plugins and themes that do not work and that for the most part, solutions to issues can be found. Sometimes, however, finding these solutions can take up a lot of time. Additional, sometimes what I think may be a good solution ends up becoming problematic at best.

I have been using Wordpress stir years. I've used it for personal projects, for paying customers, and for my employer. It's my go-to recommendation for a website platform, for sure.

Pros

Wordpress is free! It's also a platform used by a large number of websites, so community support is easy to find.

Cons

### "Difficult to use for the average person"

July 15, 2021

4.0

Pros

I love that it is the industry standard and that you are able to make beautiful websites for relatively cheap. It also gives coding freedom.

Cons

It has a high learning curve, so for those business owners who don't have the time or energy to learn how to use Wordpress, it's not worth it. None of my clients have ever had the inkling to learn how to edit their own website and make their own choices. They always pay someone else at a high price point to do it for them and are almost 100% of the time disappointed in some way and would like to make changes but run out of money in their tech budget to get those changes implemented. Or, in the long run when there are updates that need to be made for the website, they have to hire someone again to make those coding changes for them. Small businesses don't always have money to throw at stuff like this, so they just ignore the website and hope for the best even though they know that it needs some work.
