### "WordPress has taken my website to another level"

March 5, 2020

5.0

Wonderful, it has taken my online business to another level, the number of templates and plugins are huge, you can also create a website in 20 minutes and that's great.

Pros

I started using wordpress in 2016 and since then I use it, I have created more than 50 websites with this CMS and it has not failed me. They always update it and it's free.

Cons

To update it very often does not mean that it is always good, sometimes new updates bring problems to your website, plugins can fail, and can cause the site to fall and require time to resolve the problem or contact support Web hosting technician.

### "Best and widley known tool for Simple Website Building"

It is well suited for small companies and personal use, but I have seen it used by major companies too. It has something for everyone.

Pros

Large community support and user management is pretty easy.

Cons

Need to put more focus on security side.

### "It keeps getting better and better"

March 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

I've been using Wordpress since 2014. Every year, it gets so much better. From a non-technical user standpoint, it still looks the same. But from from a front-end developer standpoint, it's so flexible. I've built tons of a software and features on top of Wordpress. It's well documented, lots of plugins (with direct access to their code), and changes are immediate.

Cons

Since you can see the code right under the hood, that opens the door to exploitations. There's a lot of malicious agents who attack Wordpress users. But that's a small price to pay.

### "WordPress review"

July 3, 2019

4.0

I have been using WordPress for over 5 years and my first experiences of developing web sites comes from WordPress and I can say that my experiences have been mostly positive.

Pros

WordPress offers people who have little to no tech background to make a fully functional and sightly web site in a small amount of time. I like that it has a large community of users and a large amount of add-ons and pre-made templates that makes implementing complex features pretty easy. I also like that trough WordPress you can easily manage content displayed on the website, meaning that you can delegate the duty of managing a website to an employee or user who has little knowledge in web development.

Cons

I dislike that WordPress itself doesn't offer a built in drag and drop builder, but this isn't a big deal since you can find a add-on that will make this possible.

Alternatives considered

[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

As as IT expert I have knowledge with both of these CMS, WordPress and Joomla, but people assigned for taking care of the content on the web site had more knowledge with WordPress which was a deciding factor.

Very positive overall. I haven’t really had many issues and if I have I was able to solve them pretty fast by just looking on forums or asking for help by using the help feature which is very resourceful for beginners

Pros

I like that I can use the ‘what you see is what you get’ feature because it helps clients as well and is such an easy way for people Without experience to create their own websites

Cons

It can be a little overwhelming if you aren’t used to the content management systems set up. Otherwise it’s pretty user friendly

### "Highly recommended"

November 7, 2017

5.0

Easy to customize therefore, having a live website running easier to optimize

Pros

Wordpress is a very easy to use too, you can customize it according to your need. The availability of themes and also plugins are a lot. You don't need technical skills in order to have a running website. This tool is built for everyone whether it is for corporate or blogging, really good.

Cons

Security is one of the key issues that Wordpress has to work on. It's easy to hack. Sometimes, updates can ruin my existing current theme, so i would also have to need to do a little debugging.

### "My Go-To Site Software"

February 20, 2019

5.0

Ten years ago, I started out with little more knowledge of how to build a website than the coding it took to make forum posts blink or scroll across the forum. When I needed to start a blog, cPanel suggested WordPress, so I gave it a go. I haven't looked back since.

Pros

If there is anything you want or need to do with WordPress, someone has gone before you and created a plugin or a piece of code. It's versatile, easy to use, and can be whatever you need it to be.

Cons

Human error can lead to major faults, but so long as you control who has admin access, and keep backups, there's no problem that can't be solved.

### "WordPress: Free but"

September 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

WordPress is the best FREE website management software. It is also probably the only one. Considering this price tag, its extensive library of extensions and plugins is impressive. Customization is pretty easy and most plugins that you can think of are available for download.

Cons

While the customization is great, learning how to customize your website is definitely a learning curve for beginners. Perhaps the biggest challenge is that to truly customize a page, you have to know at least a little HTML and CSS, which can be daunting for basic users.

### "Sometimes the best things are free"

June 14, 2018

4.0

Pros

I believe this is the case for WordPress. It has most of the functionalities you'll need for your website and the ease of use can't be improved. You don't need any HTML knowledge to put your website together thanks to WordPress as the look and feel is one of a Word editor. So, if you need to edit a page you only need to know where to find the page you need to edit on the menu and implement the change. Another good feature is the possibility to add comments so that another person can review and resolve before publishing a given page. You can go a bit further by adding plugins to your site through WordPress as well, so you can have more granularity other than the basics if you want to.

Cons

The bad of open source software is that often there is not much documentation available. The counterpoint of this is that there is a large community with multiple forums where you can ask questions.

### "Great for beginners"

November 30, 2019

4.0

I had a great experience using WordPress and I have built multiple sites on it. I would without a doubt recommend it to anyone who is new to creating a website because it is easy to understand and to customize.

Pros

WordPress is great for beginners but also good for advanced users creating a new blog or a full website. It has a lot of themes and it is great for customization. There are also a huge amount of plugins for photo gallery, SSL, for improving speed and caching. It is really easy to use and to understand fundamentals.

Cons

One of the main problem is the speed of website. With WordPress my website speed was never good. I tried free and paid plugins, optimizing pictures and theme but WordPress simply isn't meant to be the fastest CMS out there.

### "Review of WordPress. The Heartache and Triumphant Moments."

April 3, 2019

4.0

Wordpress has its ups and downs but Weebly is definitely better.

Pros

Wordpress has great prices. And there was a boom in interest in regards to Wordpress and SquareSpace. Wordpress also has a great timeline feature like Facebook has. That's an awesome add on. Some people can like your blog posts via the Wordpress Homepage.

Cons

Some tools are difficult to use on the site such as changing 'featured images' and more. There seems to be too many glitches. It's hard to increase font size too. And adding blocks can be difficult if you'd like to add them in specific areas.

### "My favorite open-source software out there!"

January 1, 2019

5.0

The community behind it is just awesome! I've made friends through this passion, had huge excitement with new plugin and product releases! Anything related to product management should have basic experience with this software!

Pros

This framework has just enabled to me to pursue so many different projects! You can really quickly build a basic site, use it for a blogging, but a lot of other complex systems can be created behind it.

Cons

There can be some trash-ware out there, that they sell plugins or themes, that look nice, but on the inside, they are just horrible. Do your research, trust your sources!

### "Wordpress - Not just for blogs anymore!"

March 10, 2019

4.0

Great. In my opinion, it's the gold standard for anyone wanting to set up a blog or a simple website. The tools and "Widgets" are really fun to play with and give you a lot of ability to customize and grow your site.

Pros

I stumbled into Wordpress years ago when I needed to build a blog. I've used it for a dozen blogs since due to its price, awesome add-on's and how customizable it is. I've also used it as the forward facing website for a small business that grew into a multi-million dollar business (which was great for both its simplicity and building SEO). Pretty awesome support online both officially through Wordpress, as well as the huge community of users.

Cons

The first few times of using it, uploading it to a domain and setting it up took a bit of fumbling around because of me (the user), not because of Wordpress. It's become increasingly easy to use over the years and is now a piece of cake with a wide variety of hosting options.

### "DEVELOPER FRIENDLY CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM"

### "Wordpress.org, my go-to for creating a website"

October 9, 2021

5.0

Pros

Of course, my favorite thing about WordPress is that it's super accessible to the public because it's free! Wordpress.com can be completely free to use (unless you pay for a custom domain) and Wordpress.org is free from WordPress, but you have to pay for hosting. For me, this is worth it in the long-run because I own my content.

Cons

There's complaints about Wordpress' newest updates sometimes containing bugs and that it's slower than some other options like Squarespace. I've never used Squarespace to compare; I'm simply stating a common complaint. My complaint: I wish there was a way to preview the CSS before saving the changes. This would make me feel 1,000 times more confident in messing around with the style sheets with coding. As it stands, since I'm unable to preview the style sheets before publication, I'm reticent to mess around with my site in this capacity. I would think that would be something easy for WordPress to alter since they have other areas with their software where you can preview before hitting publication.

### "Wordpress: The Standard in Blogging Websites"

March 4, 2020

It has made my blogging experience fun and profitable. I love this software!

Pros

It is so easy and fast to make my blog look beautiful and eyeworthy with this software! All the plugins also function great!

Cons

At first, I did not like how it seemed like every add-in or plug-in had an extra fee, but with the way that they function flawlessly, I would pay for most of them again!

### "May not be the best choice depending on what you need"

April 2, 2020

4.0

Overall it's been good, but that's because I know what I'm doing. I've run into speed bumps with plugins or functionality here and there, but nothing detrimental.

Pros

Wordpress is great if you know how to use it (big learning curve) and if you're not using it for eCommerce. Wordpress is not straightforward, and you would need training or a lot of experience. It's impossible to build a good website in Wordpress if you don't know what you're doing. Wordpress is great for plugins as well, and most plugins have a free option and great customer support.

Cons

Wordpress can still be used for eCommerce, but not optimal because the eCommerce plugins don't work really well with Wordpress, they're difficult to setup, and they slow the website down a lot. If you're running a pure eCommerce website, I would recommend Shopify or a similar platform dedicated to eCommerce. Shopify also makes it easy for people with no web design experience.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

I didn't like Wix at all. Shopify is best for eCommerce and easy web building. Wordpress is good for the most customization and control (if you know what you're doing).

### "Wordpress - the best cms. period"

August 30, 2018

i love it. I use it daily and make new websites with it monthly. There is also a tonne of resource to help clients whenever they need help.

Pros

I like that wordpress will be there for the long haul.. learning wordpress means that it isnt something that is going away anytime soon. IT will be here for lifie. sure it will change and update, but its so integral to how the internet works,

Cons

it does take a long time for big changes to happen in it. I mean guthenberg, which is an update to the text editor, has been talked about for well over a year and still isnt officially integrated.

### "Manage web pages and blogs easily."

May 30, 2018

5.0

I create and manage a couple of pages with wordpress and the truth is that it is very easy to add and edit information.

Pros

Without knowing much of programming, I can create beautiful web pages and manage them easily, I forget the programming, since WordPress has many tools that make my life easier, I can find all kinds of free add-ons and themes, as well as payments.

Cons

There are some add-ons that can damage the CMS in such a way that it is useless what causes the work to be wasted. Ideally, do not download add-ons or themes from any strange page, as it could be a headache.

### "WordPress- Best CMS to develop webpages"

November 4, 2018

4.0

We are using WordPress for designing and developing websites used in our company. Back end is managed using MySql and the server is easy to set up.

Pros

Wordpress is the widely used management system for webpages. Its the CMS that was just used for developing blogs but now Users can add forms, email lists, links and many more. It based on php and MySql. Best thing is that it is free and open source so developers can customise according to their needs.

Cons

Its risky to add extensions in WordPress as its open source so might be having bugs. Moreover it the most easy and reliable CMS.

### "The best part? Plugins!!!"

October 5, 2016

4.0

Our company recently updated our website and moved it to Wordpress. Working in Wordpress has been very straightforward in most instances. Most of the tools are very user-friendly and it is easy to create a professional looking website without extensive knowledge of site-building. Working within the templates and presets can give you a great looking site easily, but if you want to alter things outside of those presets it can get difficult really quickly. Adding custom touches to elements will require someone that has experience with coding. Luckily, there are SO many available plugins that you can almost always find one to accomplish what you are looking for and most of the time they are free. This is really the best part of Wordpress; the possibilities to expand are limitless using plugins.

Pros

\- Very user-friendly within the templates and presets - Tons of useful plugins for most anything you can think of

Cons

\- Some seemingly simple customizations will require coding knowledge - Some settings can be difficult to find
