### "Excellent Tool to make website with little tech knowledge"

June 20, 2020

5.0

The overall experience is very good. Using WordPress for almost 5 years now. made more than 300 websites for my clients. including simple business websites, E-Commerce website with the help of woo-commerce. Running two directories made with it, and a course website for one of my clients.

Pros

it's free, comes with every hosting, takes seconds to install, and works like a charm. Very easy to make and publish simple websites with it. A huge range of free plugins and themes.

Cons

It has basic functionality as a CMS. Need Premium themes to make a very good website. Sometimes encountered a problem such as a white screen of death and that needs to fix ourselves with the help of information presented online.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)[Weebly](https://www.capterra.com/p/246168/Weebly/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

At the start, I try to use Wix because I was unfamiliar with WordPress. But Wix did not have some basic functions at that time. Such as Sitemap, Rich Snippet, SEO, and most importantly we cannot move the website from one server to another. Wix was costly too as compared to WordPress.

### "Been using wordpress for years"

April 5, 2022

5.0

Pros

Wordpress gets better and better every year. Plugins and customization for novice or experienced users is amazing. Great platform to learn the basics or advanced. Currently running woocommerce with great success and massive sales. SEO ability is also incredible.

Cons

Wordpress can through random errors and is easily hacked because you are relying on a multitude of themes and plugins from random developers. To get a site up and running smoothly can be a challenge.

### "WordPress review"

September 17, 2021

5.0

We use WordPress as a platform for building basic company websites and for blogging. The WordPress contains all features we need. In case something special is required - we can always use WordPress extensions (both free and paid).

Pros

I can say WordPress is the most popular website building platform. It's very easy to implement on almost any webserver. We and our customers use WordPress a lot. There are lots of free addons and templates for WordPress available.

Cons

Well, since the WordPress is very popular tool it attracts the attention of hackers. Therefore the WordPress based websites are probably the most frequently hacked targets. Nevertheless the developers continuously improve the security of the WordPress.

Reason for choosing WordPress

WordPress is mostly free (for basic functionality) and very flexible product. It has many advantages over other alternatives and can be used by novices as well.

### "Start With The Free Option & Upgrade As Needed"

October 25, 2022

4.0

Pros

When starting my Girltakesmundo.com blog, I knew ease of use was a big priority for me as my coding and website skills were very amateur. After reviewing multiple website builders, I decided on WordPress. Why? It’s easy to set up and build a basic website for those beginning or have little knowledge. You can upgrade to WordPress Pro to add on features and help your site grow as your website/business improves without having to build a new website or go with another website builder.

Cons

As with all website builder platforms, there are things still being spoken in tech language which makes me think I am not fully taking advantage of my Pro plan given my lack of website builder experience.

### "I posted to my blog multiple times per week for three years and used WordPress the whole time."

November 16, 2017

5.0

This software allowed me to post a very professional blog for years without the struggle of being a web developer as well. WordPress was referred to me by a good friend who is a web developer because she knew how much I didn't know. This software allowed me to have a great looking site focused on content with all the tools a blog should have. As the managing editor, I knew we would eventually have the opportunity to expand to selling merch via WordPress as well, but we didn't get that far.

Pros

The WordPress software allowed me to focus so much more on content than design or layout, it made blogging an absolutely pleasant experience. I would still be doing it if the subject matter hadn't become too expensive! My team and I were able to put together drafts for review, add multimedia content and express our individual styles all with easy feedback and control of content. As the managing editor, I even got to set the comment security allowing me to review comments before they were posted to maintain our professionalism and high content standards.

Cons

This will sound strange, but all of the options ended up being a drawback. If I had had the opportunity to run my blog as a full-time job instead of a hobby, I would have had the time to filter through all of the different layouts and tools available, but as it was, I just focused on my own content with the nagging feeling that we weren't getting everything out of the web site that would could.

### "WordPress Makes Getting Online Very Easy."

September 25, 2021

5.0

My overall experience with WordPress has been interesting and great. With the use of the software, I find it easier to create any type of website. I can as well recommend this to a friend to implement the use of WordPress.

Pros

The features I find most impact full in this software are the open-source and easy-to-use features. I have the opportunity to get ideas from the knowledge of a huge community of developers that are experts. Definitely, it is easy to use.

Cons

Actually, I feel the software should be improved for more accuracy. My integration with my already existing business processes becomes easy with the use of WordPress.

### "Wordpress, NOT for Complete Beginners "

February 14, 2020

3.0

Although Wordpress is a fairly fast and easy way to get website up and running relatively fast, it requires a lot of upkeep, maintenance, and constant monitoring and continuous configuring of code updates and settings to keep running smoothly and safely in the long run. Do not reccomend to complete beginners or novices. Highly recommend to business owners who have a budget for proper upkeep and maintenance.

Pros

Highly customizable with extensive knowledge and experience

Cons

Doesn't work out the box, needs a lot of customization and configuring in order to work properly, not for Complete beginners.

### "Wordpress is very easy to use, has excellent templates and SEO is really very good."

April 11, 2018

5.0

As a web developer it has brought me great benefits since you can program a web page in hours, which translates into time savings and increased profits. The platform is very robust and easy to use.

Pros

I like the variety of free payment templates, most adapters for any mobile device. The development is extremely easy. The positioning in the search engines is very good, allows friendly urls. Content management is simple and allows you to add, modify and delete any content in a matter of seconds.

Cons

It consumes many resources. As expected, perform many queries to the database and load the various scripts of all the plugins used. It is necessary to modify the default memory value in the wp-config.php so that the load is a little faster when we are in applications such as online stores with thousands of products.

### "WordPress--A bloggers perspective "

September 20, 2018

4.0

We were completely happy with our experience using WordPress for our blog. We were able to see results from it through customer engagement and the event vendors that we worked with also had a way to promote our business (as well as theirs) when we showcased their work at our events.

Pros

I used WordPress to start a blog for an event planning company. We would feature all of our weddings and events on our blog, and tried to post at least once a week writing an article about something in the industry to help keep clients engaged with our page. What I loved most about this software is its ease of use as well as how professional the page looked. It allowed us to customize the page to reflect our brand, and we just wanted to keep our page simple, which it allowed us to do. It did have the capability of making our page very complex with different features, but we didn't want to do that, and it was great that it didn't make us add tons of buttons, etc.

Cons

My only complaint with this is that if you have HTML or CSS knowledge it can be a little difficult. As a beginner using this software, I did not have this knowledge which would have come to my advantage had I known a little more about coding. It definitely isn't necessary in order to successfully use this software, but it definitely helps if you do have a coding background.

### "Best CMS For Building Websites"

August 2, 2019

5.0

I build any type of Website for clients and firms with WordPress so i'll say am really enjoying the simple drag and drop settings on the platform. One cool thing is that everyone can create a website with it even without learning any programming lanuage

Pros

It is the best Content Management System i've seen for a very long time.. I remember when I started out with Blogger and was feeling real bad cause I don't know much about coding then. Later when I switch to WordPress, I get to learn that I can enjoy some premium things for free even without coding or programming knowledge. So I say WordPress is the best software to consider when building a website or any type. Be it Blog, Business Website, Port folio e.t.c I recommend WordPress

Cons

Most of the softwares are expensive and the default WordPress.com hosting fee is too much. WordPres really need to fix this

### "Great for running my own websites as well as giving Clients CMS access too"

October 27, 2018

5.0

I needed to be able to design and build websites quickly and efficiently for myself and for clients, and have them look good and be easy to manage and update for non-techy clients. WordPress lets me do that :)

Pros

I love how versatile WordPress is, and how it can be used to create some really advanced and nice looking designs as well as very basic pages and blogs. The basics are simple enough for clients to understand after an hour's training, whilst also being powerful enough for me to build pretty much anything I need to.

Cons

The plugin system is generally good but you do have to be careful about security and stability with plugins not interfering with each other. Caching plugins and setups can often cause some problems, and in an ideal world WordPress would be less lenient about supporting older PHP versions.

Pros

Cons

### "You can build almost anything on wordpress"

December 22, 2020

5.0

I use WordPress to this day and I've been using it since 2013. It is without a doubt an easy and highly customizable application that anyone can use and can create any type of website.

Pros

It's simple, easy to make websites for people who don't have any background in coding or related fields. The quickest way to create a business website. I've also worked on multiple e-commerce websites on WordPress. The best part is everything you want to do on your website there are 9/10 times a plugin available for that. You can make a website like Facebook in it as well! Yes, WordPress can be molded to create any type of website.

Cons

WordPress is open source meaning anyone can download the full code and can change it and upload it to their own server. This makes WordPress websites open for attacks from bots and hackers. So, in order to do it you can make sure you make your site secure there are plugins available for that but you need to have backups ready so buy a hosting plan that can quickly get your site backup.

### "What's All The Buzz About?"

January 24, 2021

3.0

I am seriously curious why so many website builders like/love this software. I have tried to build a site from scratch and I have edited a website that was built for one of my businesses. I never finished the site I started, and I am having a new site built to replace the one that was built using WordPress...because I don't like it...the site nor the software. Sorry, but just being honest.

Pros

The fact that the software is basically free is a good thing. I guess I would say because of the popularity of the software, based on so many people I know, made me think it would be awesome.

Cons

I find it too complicated. Too many options. Granted, I haven't spent as much time in this software as I have in the other web design software I use more often. But that's the point! The other software is easier and, to me, just as or more effective for my purposes.

### "Best Open Source Content Management System"

September 9, 2021

5.0

Website building makes easy.

Pros

Wordpress has been my go-to CMS for years now. It is always evolving and growing, I've never had any problems with content censorship either. The best thing about it is that it's open source which means anyone can download the code and make modifications to it to change how it functions or make custom plugins according to their needs.

Cons

Lost of plugins needs to install for working effectively.

### "Our website never looked better"

May 25, 2020

5.0

We are very satisfied with wordpress and about once a month we install another add-on because it solves another gap in our business.

Pros

It took a while to set up our website but once it was set up, it was very easy to maintain it. The constant updates keep it up-to-date- and secure and a lot of our business partners are dependant on our website. There are so many add-ons available online, it is basically endless. Our next website will definitely be built with wordpress again.

Cons

It was a bit complicated setting everything up in the DiviBuilder at the beginning and it takes a while to understand where everything is but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to use. I find it quite sloq at times. Not sure if that is becaue of wordpress or because of the server space that we are renting.

### "ePortfolio for Students"

November 20, 2019

4.0

We used WordPress to implement a large-scale eportfolio project so that students would have a space to collect, reflect, and engage with a virtual community for language acquisition courses. Additionally, I have used WordPress for my professional website and other projects that I have need to create. It is a great and easy way to express your self in a multi-media way.

Pros

To implement an eportfolio project at the University of Virginia, we used Word Press. I created a course portoflio that contained all the information related to the course. WordPress allows for easy display of documents in a way that the learning management system does not. It is easy to implement multimedia documents that provide a more aesthetically pleasing visual experience. Also, via plugins and widgets, we were able to link all the student portfolios with the teaching portfolio.

Cons

The learning curve for the students was a bit difficult. Also, the linking and grouping of multiple sites together was a bit difficult. I did not like that all of the provided templates did not work as advertised. All in all, considering all the good qualities of this program, the cons are not enough to justify not using it. I still use WordPress for my personal sites.

### "Very flexible blogging system with antiquated codebase."

July 18, 2019

5.0

Use it on a daily basis to provide CMS interfaces to various clients new and old.

Pros

It is \*extremely\* flexible, we often use it for more than just blogging - it can be adapted to be an extremely easy to use CMS either using the WordPress theme system or to create an API which can be accessed with react and 'new' JS. It is very easy to use and clients are used to it so we don't need to spend as much time on training and documentation.

Cons

Because the developers focus on backwards compatibility they are not very open to modernizing the code base. As a result, from the perspective of a developer, some parts feel outdated. The worst offenses in my opinion are half procedural half object oriented code and refusal to 'composerify' so that it can be officially included as a dependency.

Overall wordpress is very usefull software for any kind of people who willing to create website to own business by own self.As a photographer I created my own photography website for my business and it is very useful to improve my photography business. There for I highly recommend to any photographer for create ththeir website rather than ppaying higher cost to build a website.

Pros

As a photographers our own web site is very important for show our photofolio to coustomers. But we need know to some programing language to create a website by own.Programing languages are very deffernt from our photography feild therefore it is very hard and time consuming to learn a programing language. There for we need to get a man for create a website for us.Sometimes it can be very costly. But we can build our own website by using Wordpress without knowing much of programing language. There many ways to build our website. We can start our web page by A to Z one by one. Therefore we can create our own desinig to our web page. There is lot of widgets and supporting software to help our web creating project. With using of those we can creat a website without knowing single bit of programing knowledge. If it too difficult to create a website by from bottom level then we can use pre build template to create website and customize it by our own needs. If there is a problem we can solve by easily because it has huge customer base and we can get any help from them. And also Wordpress has good customers support center and it has quite good service. So I recommend it for any photographer who willing to create a website to try this valuable software.

Cons

Wordpress is very useful software but It has very few little ddrawbacks. When we starting on Wordpress it gives some default templates. But those template are very basic and not suitable to wide verities of catogaeries. There for we need to find another templates.Lot of good templates are must be to buy.An also when starting it gives only few templates.Lot of people are comes to Wordpress because they do not know much of programing knowledge. There for it will be good to have many default templates when we start. These are the ddrawbacks I saw in Wordpress.

### "If you are technically inclined, this is the best way to build a website!"

February 9, 2021

5.0

Overall I am very pleased with WordPress. All my sites (3 plus others I manage) run on WordPress. It's powerful, customizable, and stable, with a HUGE community of support.

Pros

I really like the ability to do custom website design, and the ability to start with a template for speed and/or inspiration. Compared to the free website builder that your hosting provider provides, this is the real-deal: fully customizable. Your time and skill are your only limits (and there are many tutorials out there to improve your skill).

Cons

If I'm using a theme on a site I don't update regularly, it can be a challenge to find where to adjust specific things. Also, the more plug-ins there are, the more complicated the site management becomes.

### "(so far) the best choice to have a website"

February 27, 2019

5.0

We've been using Wordpress for the last 7 years and altough we haven't found an alternative so far to build a website with a CMS, the're are some aspects that could be improved, like the transition from the previous editor. Our overall experience is nevertheless very positive.

Pros

It covers a many different needs from a personal blog to a medium company website. There are many plugins that offer extra funcionality. Many themes to choose from. Great integration with other tools and platforms. Multilingual versions.

Cons

The new text editor, Guttenberg. Any website more complex than a personal blog will require a number of plugins to work that will require constant updates. The minimum version should include some basic funcionalities that now require plugins: spam, cache, security, ecc. Some third party plugins may be pricey.

### "One of the best!"

February 23, 2018

5.0

I like the free wordpress blog where you can practice your skills

Pros

Ever since I started my journey as Virtual Assistant, I have learned how to set-up a blog and design a website. Of all the platforms I've tried WordPress is my number one choice. I like how easy it is to set-up a blog or a website especially for beginners. Also, I use it to set-up my clients website because it is their preferred platform. As far as I can remember, I have built nearly 100 blogs for my clients using only WordPress. I love that there are lots of plug-ins that you can use for free to make your site or blog more personalized. It can be use not only for personal use but for business too. I highly recommend WordPress to everyone, especially to those who have zero knowledge in blogging. Posting also is very easy, you can simply use offline poster and linked it to your blog. I just love WordPress.

Cons

The only cons that I found in WordPress is that they don't have the online support, they have this Community but most of the advisers are the user too. So when I am having issues with codes, I usually search and went to multiple tech sites.

### "my opinion"

October 22, 2021

4.0

Pros

I appreciate the vast number of models and the variety of styles and forms. Even if I am a designer, I appreciate the following: You don't need to be one to come up with great ideas. You also don't really have to be a professional web designer to create great websites. All you need is time and a desire to learn how to use the tool.

Cons

Use CMS meaning lots of unnecessary files which slow down the website ( from the perspective) of a person that wants to make things as fast as possible.) Also, if you' re setting up too many plug-ins on Single Install, it begins to slow down. For example, if you are using a single installation for e-commerce, blogs, lead generation, the number of installations of plugins will increase... which in turn slows down the site.
