### "Wordpress is our go to website platform"

April 25, 2026

5.0

We use Wordpress for all of our websites as they have a good light SEO friendly structure and easy to use dashboard.

Pros

Wordpress is probably one of the easiest website platforms to use. User friendly and has tons of great plugins to accommodate all types of services and functions.

Cons

We tend to get a lot of spam comments, there are apps to filter them but they still manage to get though.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

Their dashboard was more user friendly and the plugins they offered solved our problems.

### "Cool for building websites if you don’t know how to code"

May 1, 2026

4.0

My client asked me to use Wordpress for their website and online store and it was an adventure. I usually use php, css, html to create sections and craft a beautiful website. But this time I used Wordpress with other plugins and it saved me a lot of time because their visual layout was nice. Click and drop. The main learning curve was finding where to add these code snippets or personalized css. But there’s a lot of information and tutorials so was quite easy.

Pros

I like how easy is and also is well integrated with other tools. Even if you don’t know how to code, you can built a website for free. The mobile experience is also nice. Their plugin library is amazing.

Cons

It could be quite confusing for a programmer because I couldn’t find the settings I wanted to change. With codes is easier.

Alternatives considered

### "Feels a little old school!"

April 3, 2026

3.0

It's not really changed in years which is probably a good thing for some people but I think there are slicker, cheaper, easier to use options out there now.

Pros

It's the old school option for website building, trusted and used by many. There are also a lot of skins available for design at cheap prices.

Cons

It's just too behind when it comes to the updates in online website building these days. I felt like I was working on my blog back in 2013 rather than building a professional website.

### "Wordpress - The most used software in my daily routine"

March 7, 2026

4.0

I have been using wordpress for years, starting back in the day of name.wordpress.com to buuld your owne personal page. My websites have ecommerce embedded with payment solutions that I can manage myself. Plus for my personal sites, I can have a lot of fun creating different designs and add-ons.

Pros

Ease of use. I can get a simple page up and running in literally minutes, and an ecommecre site in under an hour. Beyond that, the templates and add-ons make it possible to design really great looking, functional websites across multiple industries.

Cons

Free plug ins. Most plugins have the danger of being hacked, especially if not updated. People...it's free for a reason. Purchase the upgrade!

### "Flexible, Reliable, and the Backbone of Our Web Solutions"

April 26, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with WordPress has been very positive. It has proven to be a reliable and flexible platform that consistently meets the needs of a wide range of projects. From simple websites to more advanced builds, it provides the tools and scalability needed to grow without major limitations. It is also the core web product we rely on, because it offers strong control over design, functionality, and performance. With the right setup, it delivers a solid balance of ease of use and powerful customization, making it a dependable foundation for both clients and long term development.

Pros

What I like most about WordPress is its flexibility. It can power everything from a simple blog to a full scale business site without locking you into one approach. The plugin ecosystem is a major advantage, there is almost always a tool available for any feature you need. It also balances ease of use with advanced customization. Beginners can launch a site quickly, while more experienced users can modify nearly every aspect. Having full control over content, hosting, and SEO is another strong benefit compared to more restrictive platforms.

Cons

What I liked least about WordPress is that it can become overly complex as a site grows. Managing plugins, updates, and compatibility issues can take time, and things can break if updates are not handled carefully. Security is another concern, since its popularity makes it a frequent target for attacks, requiring ongoing maintenance and monitoring. Performance can also suffer if the site is not properly optimized, especially when too many plugins are used.

Alternatives considered

[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

WordPress offered a more intuitive experience and a larger ecosystem compared to Joomla. It is easier to manage on a day to day basis, especially for content updates and client handoff. The availability of plugins, themes, and developer resources is significantly stronger, which makes building and scaling sites more efficient. It also aligns better with our workflow and long term goals, allowing us to standardize it as our core web product. The flexibility, community support, and overall ease of customization made it the more practical choice.

### "Flexible, easy and empowers business. "

April 16, 2026

5.0

Couldnt recommend it more. If you have no web development knowledge, or if you have been doing it for years, you can very easily get to grips with WordPress to create sites.

Pros

How far you can push it. Most people turn their noses up at easy web builders like WordPress but the flexibility, ease of use and how quickly you can build fully customisable sites using templates empowers so many business.

Cons

The bloat that can happen with WordPress core files, themes and alot of plugins can make the sites slower, but with careful consideration this can be overcome

### "My go to website setup, easy to use, cheap to run"

May 11, 2026

4.0

its my go to web install for anything, single page, web shops, even digital displays. There is nothing you cant do

Pros

Wordpress is so versatile, its great value for money and really easy to use. Once its setup you can easily create pages, lots of layout options, themes and templates

Cons

The biggest issue for us are the security updates. You always have to be running updated installs to keep your site secure and dealing with the add-ons is a pain

### "WordPress is the Easiest and Most Supported CMS"

April 6, 2026

5.0

I use wordpress everyday to update and add content to my client's website. We are now ranking organically for many key phrases.

Pros

WordPress is the easiest and most customizable open website programming system. It allows me to choose from thousands of plugins to accomplish anything you could ever want a website to do and all for free. If I ever have any issues I can usually find a solution online from someone else who already fixed it or found a work around.

Cons

The frequent updated can sometimes cause issues for my website or plugins without my knowledge so I test the sites each morning on web and mobile versions.

### "Flexible, Powerful, and Easy to Grow With"

April 11, 2026

5.0

I have been using WordPress for quite some time and am very satisfied with it. It is one of the most flexible platforms I have worked with and makes it easy to build and manage websites of different sizes. The system is intuitive enough for regular content updates, but also powerful enough to support more advanced needs through themes, plugins, and customization options. What I value most is that WordPress gives me a lot of control while still remaining accessible for everyday use.

Pros

WordPress offers an excellent balance of ease of use and flexibility. It is simple to publish and update content, and the large selection of themes and plugins makes it possible to adapt a website to almost any requirement. The platform is widely supported, regularly updated, and suitable for blogs, business websites, and more complex projects. Its strong community and ecosystem make it easy to find help, extensions, and solutions when needed.

Cons

One downside is that the many available plugins can sometimes lead to extra maintenance, and not every extension works perfectly with every theme or update. For beginners, the amount of choice and customization options can feel a bit overwhelming at first. Performance can also depend heavily on the quality of the hosting environment and the plugins being used. Even so, these are manageable trade-offs for the level of freedom WordPress provides.

### "Brilliant Website Development Tool"

April 3, 2026

5.0

Overall a positive experience. Makes maintaining and updating websites possible for any business no matter how much software experience owned.

Pros

Wordpress has made website design and editing easy for everybody, especially those with no coding experience. The interface makes all tools and pages understandable. Wordpress also contains a huge array of templates making any website design possible.

Cons

My biggest concern would be the maintenance that needs to be put into WordPress. Having many plugins within the website can cause many updates otherwise the website and certain plugins can run slowly.

### "WordPress is the Premier Website Builder"

June 17, 2025

5.0

In my opinion, WordPress is the premier website builder and content management system. I wouldn't consider other products as none come close to the number of features and level of customization.

Pros

In my constantly changing industry, WordPress is so valuable because it allows nearly endless customization to fit my needs.

Cons

The thing I like least about WordPress is that it can be difficult to keep up with the number of updates required.

### "What can't be done with WordPress?"

June 25, 2025

5.0

I love WordPress. I used it for a basic blog a zillion years ago and have built dozens of sites using it. I love that WordPress can make a simple and fast site for a brand new business - or can be full fledged and robust for a large company.

Pros

I love developing in WordPress - I love watching it grow and seeing new features added. It makes me excited to see all the things WordPress can do.

Cons

The WordPress community has been fracturing and Matt Mullenweg's behavior is concerning. I don't love worrying that a CMS I've been using for 20ish years could vanish due to his whims.

### "Quick start, very flexible but time consuming"

February 1, 2025

4.0

Relatively simple to start but the more I uncovered, the more I needed to learn. Quick to get things off the ground but money needs to be spent on builders like Elementor rather than the native builder imo.

Pros

Flexibility, adaptability and sheer amount of choice. After a reasonably small learning curve, everything becomes quite clear on how wordpress and all the myriad plugins work together. The theme options are also great.

Cons

I found resolving issues can be very time consuming. Also even with what i felt was enough security, I somehow got hacked and eventually the website got consumed with so many fake pages i had to close it down and chose Wix.

Alternatives considered

[Squarespace](https://www.capterra.com/p/143461/Squarespace/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

Squarespace, especially then, was a little to straight out of the box. WP in comparison was cheaper, gave way more customisability but the tradeoff was the continuous learninf curve.

### "Essy to understand and easy to use."

February 27, 2026

5.0

I got on really well with WordPress as someone who used it for our online ordering system every day. It was simple and customers rarely had an issue placing their orders. I would use it again.

Pros

WordPress was our website host when i first began to be involved with the back end of the website. It was simple and worked for us as a website/ webshop. Orders were easy to understand and could be quickly categorised or actioned. Pictures and updates of products were simple to action. We did not have outside IT support at this time so all issues were fixed by the WordPress team themselves.

Cons

Although simple and user friendly, we were limited in what we could do using WordPress as our host. This was not an issue or even apparant until we wanted to redesign our website so was not an issue at the time of using it.

### "You can't get much better even if it has issues sometimes!"

October 3, 2025

4.0

Overall my experience has always been great. There's been times when I have been frustrated with the platform but due to it's widespread use and open source nature, fixes are almost always readily available.

Pros

It's very easy to install with almost any hosting platform. It's also very easy to self host. Updates are easy and can even be set to auto install so that you can always have the latest security updates.

Cons

There are many vulnerabilities. This is mostly due to it's popularity as it powers more websites than any other platform. Sometimes it takes too long to have things patched but that is not always an issue with the core of WordPress. That could very well be an issue for the addon and theme devs.

### "In a league of its own"

August 25, 2025

4.0

I run over 20 WordPress websites, and there is no doubt that Automattic is one of the greatest forces behind the democratisation of the internet. I recommend the GeneratePress template for a clean, flexible build.

Pros

As one of the few open source content management systems, WordPress is in a different league to other CMS options. Free to download, there is no better value for money. Since the inclusion of Gutenburg, WP has been easier to use. Woo Commerce is a fantastic plugin for ecommerce.

Cons

There is a frustrating bug at the moment which is affecting the scheduling of posts. The Gutenburg block system could also be improved with more sophisticated user controls.

### "Great visual editor and content manager for websites."

May 30, 2025

5.0

Overall, my experience has been mostly positive. WordPress is a powerful platform for designers who want both creative freedom and scalability, but it does require regular maintenance and performance optimization to run smoothly.

Pros

As a designer, I appreciate how flexible WordPress is when it comes to customisation. The vast library of themes and plugins allows me to create high quality sites without touching much code, and tools like Elementor or custom CSS give me extra control over the design when I need it.

Cons

Sometimes it can feel bloated and clunky, especially when too many plugins are installed—it slows down the site and sometimes leads to conflicts.

### "Using WordPress for Chapter & P2P Websites is Easy!"

August 28, 2025

4.0

Pros

Our foundation got WordPress about 10 years ago to build our chapter websites. The look was good and the build was pretty straight forward. Since then are also using WordPress for one of our P2P program websites. The decision to use this, instead of another software we had, was for it's capability to create nice, clean, and stylish pages. We can create multiple templates and the pages are easy to edit. It works well our other software and has a good selection of API plugins. Also, it's cost, is minimal. We only pay for one plugin! Plus, customer support is pretty good. Overall, I would recommend WordPress for those wanting to create website that are easy to build and look great!

Cons

Only issue I have seen with WordPress is sometimes the syncing/updating of data on our WP pages, from our source software, can take some time.

Pros

Customer service is pretty good. Its great for wrb designers, page editing, templates to lay out the web sites.

Cons

The ease of use is not very good for those getting started. Can be a little complicated. More designed for experienced users. And the cost could be a little better. Free version is ok but really lacks.

### "Great flexible platform"

August 22, 2025

5.0

Overall solid. I’ve used it to build a few different sites over the years, including my latest projects OverLoaded and Bulgariya. It does what I need without being overly complicated, and once you know your way around themes/plugins you can move pretty fast. Definitely a good balance of easy + powerful if you don’t want to build from scratch.

Pros

It’s flexible. You can make basically any kind of site without much skill or experience. Even though it's so easy to use for beginners, there's a ton of room for customization as well. I personally use a ton of custom code on my site https://overloaded.ai and even run a simple webgame with a global chat. Tons of plugins, easy to tweak design, and it scales from a simple blog to a full business site.

Cons

Sometimes the plugins cause issues and there's no way to prepare other than making backups. Updates break stuff once in a while, which is annoying.

### "Wide user support, robust and suitable for a wide range of web pages"

March 15, 2025

5.0

One of our projects required us to build a web store from scratch for a client. I was able to put the page of articles, shopping cart and payment options with WooCommerce (a plugin) quickly and easily. The client was very happy because it worked. It is also good to highlight that I had some issues, a few hours of downtime occurred once when an update plugin crashed with the theme. It was a difficult time, but we got over it quickly with the help of the community and tutorials. That experience taught me the value of creating backups and running test environments for updates before deploying them to the live site. WordPress has been like staring at a blank canvas for us; with enough time, persistence and occasional assistance, we can create just about anything we may require.

Pros

From corporate websites to e-commerce platforms, WordPress works great for almost every project I’ve worked on as a web developer. I have managed to customize each development to my needs without starting from scratch due to its extensive ecosystem of plugins and themes. Anything from a simple personal blog to a sophisticated business website is within our capabilities. It is a powerful instrument as the possibilities are almost unlimited. Themes and plugins are another strong point. You can customize your website without knowing how to code thanks to the plethora of free and paid options. Do you prefer a more contemporary style? For this, there is a theme. Need a social media widget, advanced search engine optimization tool, or contact form? For that, you can find a plugin. It is a toolbox full of solutions for your projects.

Cons

To keep your site safe and running smoothly, you should update it frequently. This includes WordPress, its themes and plugins. Site slowness or, worse, vulnerability to attack may result from not doing so. You have to be very careful with this.
