### "When you need them, they will disappoint "

Onboarding is convenient, integrated forms are nice

Cons

The support has gone sharply downhill over the last year. They are hard to get ahold of, and minimally helpful when you do. Their idea of what part of your information you can have access to is really screwed up. When I requested background data, they told me they couldn’t, and then referred to a completely irrelevant part of the user agreement. I finally had to accelerate the issue all the way to the legal counsel who was abrasive rude, and essentially told me unless I produce a court order forcing them they’re not going to tell me my own payroll information.

### "Hands down the best payroll app I have ever experienced "

Pros

The ease of use, the ease of login on my computer and from my phone. The app is user friendly and I can find everything I need to click in and out right from my phone. I have had several situations where my income needed to be reported and they kept an easily accessible record right in the app for me to print of all my paystubs and tax documents. I don’t think I’ve seen a payroll app offer so much and be as easy to use as Gusto.

Cons

Nothing. Gusto really is the best payroll app I have worked with

From my very first client to the many I've added since, Gusto has been easy to get in touch with.

Pros

Setting up the company is a breeze. It walks you through every step to help make sure you have all the information correct. It'll even show you how to get state and local tax numbers, if needed. Setting up employees is even easier! All you need is the employees name, pay rate, and email! How crazy is that. After you enter that information, and email gets sent to the new employee to fill out all their paperwork online. Remember though to get their i-9 forms, because once they are done filling out their paperwork, you'll need to verify their i-9 docs, but it's way too easy!! Haha. Let's run payroll. Well, if it's the same each time, you can have it set up to go auto. Set it and forget it! If not, again, they make it easy. Click run payoll. Enter the times for your employees, days off, yada yada, and then submit. If you need to make a change to an employee while running payroll, just click on their name and it pulls them up for editing. Gusto submits all tax payments and reports too. Even submits child support!

Cons

One time deductions. I would love to see that feature. As for now, you have to create a deduction on the employee screen, then go back to the process payroll screen. I wish it could be added to the other more detailed pay options.

### "Gusto is a Great Payroll Option"

My overall experience with Gusto has been very positive and they are a company who wants to support their customers. I have faith that they will sort out the customer service issues and that they are just a result of growing pains.

Pros

We have been with Gusto for a long time now and find it to be easy and intuitive to use. Employees are able to log in and access their information. Gusto is constantly adding new features and now allows for time tracking by project which is a feature offered by several of their competitors. It is possible to assign managers to approve employee hours without making them a full admin with access to salary info.

Cons

It is not possible to assign managers to contractors to approve hours which would be helpful. Also, they are experiencing severe growing pains. In the beginning, Gusto support was excellent, however, the response time has gone way up in recent months. They are currently taking 2-3 weeks to respond to many support questions. This is very frustrating and I have clients who have incurred state tax penalties while waiting on Gusto to reply. Their reps are not as knowledgeable as they were earlier either, probably due to having to increase their team so quickly.

GUSTO is great software, and I could not say enough great things about it.

Pros

Ease of use. Every step in the payroll process is completely seamless. Especially the reimbursements and garnishments.

Cons

There is nothing that isn't great about GUSTO. We Started using GUSTO through a recommendation and soon learned it was a great move.

Pros

Switching to Gusto from ADP was painless. The software is easy to use as an admin and employee. Since switching to Gusto, we've had to do a lot less tedious tasks such as updating employee contact information and updating bank information. Employees can access their accounts and make updates as needed at any time. Gusto also has an easy to use app which all of our employees use.

Cons

My only complaint is that the app doesn't offer all the features the website does. Many of our employees only want to use the app and ask that we update the information they can only update on the website.

Gusto has made our office administrators job significantly easier when it comes to logging hours as well as running payroll.

Pros

The best thing about this software is definitely the very convenient and easy to use mobile app. All of our employees have the app intstalled and are able to use it with ease.

Cons

we personally dont have any complaints about Gusto. It has worked very well for our business. It easy to use and even our not so tech savvy technicians use it with ease. it is a very user friendly software.

WE have had pretty good experience with Gusto until now

Pros

It integrates with QuickBooks and our clocking program. We can also use it for clocking in directly as well. Very easy to set up various automations. Lots of useful reports. Customer service in general pretty good. They file everything for us.

We wish customer service was more responsive when escalation is required

Its great payroll and HR tool till now for me. I have started with it within 10 mins so its easy to learn basic features to run your payroll system for employees. No matter if you're a new or experienced HR manager, it helps everyone.

Pros

I loves their user interface, its not typical like other traditional payroll system. I enjoy working in such environment. And also their easy mobile version for employee helps them a lot to see and update any information in the go. also price is much lower than traditioanl big payroll administrator.

Cons

As they are still growing as HR tool they meed to improvise. Therw should be time tracking feature available in basic plan. Contractors and employee need time off screens contradict with each other. It should be seprated in some way.

While their online platform is great, the core competencies that their service is supposed to do is constantly lacking. Their support is all offshore (not US based) and often is not able to clearly understand the problem being communicated. When/if you ask to get an issue escalated, you're often not given a phone follow up and just an email with no real answer to your problem.

Pros

Easy to setup and add users. Onboarding process is clean and easy to use.

Cons

Constant tax reporting issues with state and federal agencies. Support is lackluster, taking days, weeks and months to investigate issues and not providing a clear answer to them. This resulted in fines, and fees from the tax agencies that they were supposed to handle

### "Love and Hate with Gusto"

If all you are doing is simple payroll processing then I think this is a good option for you. If you have many employees and you offer benefits good luck. Gusto has the worst customer service I would say in the industry. It is extremely hard to get help from their customer service. It seems like the thought and belief is pass the buck to someone else.

Pros

This software is easy to setup and has basic things for businesses. Gusto has a nice user website site that you can do many things very quickly. If you are looking for simple reports and processing than this is good.

Cons

The Absolute worst customer service! If you ever need help with your payroll especially benefits administration good luck getting help. Gusto completely messed up our health insurance plans and signed up our employees with health plans that are not even offered in our state. It took 5 months and threats from our lawyers before they would finally respond from someone that knew what they were doing.

Gusto saves our company lots of time! I spend literally an hour on HR/payroll each week, because Gusto does so much of the heavy lifting. For the price, I totally believe I am getting great ROI. It also integrates well with our accounting software.

Pros

Gusto makes managing employee relations, payroll, and benefits so simple. You truly get a lot of bang for your buck. We're able to manage payroll processing; time/attendance; benefits; onboarding; and salary offers all in place. Their web-based technology has great up-time and is very easy to use. I also like the fact that Gusto does all of your federal and state payroll document filings and return (quarterly and annual). Every form needed to remain in compliance with the feds and state are filed by Gusto on your behalf. That takes the headache away and allows my company to focus on matters that are more critical at this time.

Cons

There is not much I can say here other than their support isn't necessarily a phone call away. That said, they answer emails and tickets super quick. I haven't been much in a pinch to need an immediate response to issues, and their self-service support center is rather extensive.

The experience of our business using Gusto has been very positive and we recommend other businesses to implement this software if they are facing issues relating to payroll as well as other HR services. The software is very user friendly and no great technical knowledge is required.

Pros

This software has been of great importance for our business in managing payroll as well as other HR services. We implemented this software as we hit 9 employees as we were having issues relating to payroll receiving several complaints from our employees. The complaints have reduced drastically as soon as we implemented Gusto, which hence resulted in time as well as cost savings as well as more satisfied employees.

Cons

There can be some improvements made to leave management as sometimes it is difficult to navigate through the software especially when the leave is of less than a day.

### "Great Platform that gets the basics done - Gusto "

Overall great app that gets the job done and covers the base of what you would want in a payroll platform.

Pros

The app works really well for the functionality it has for the user employees and the interface is new age and fun to look at it. It also offers both an app and has a website. No delays on your paycheck based on what you see on your employee calendar. Easy to use and understand for new users and employees.

Cons

There wasn’t much I didn’t like about it, but I didn’t like that the app didn’t have as much functionality and features compared to the site. My advice would be just to add the same functionality to the app. I would also that I didn’t like as much that it didn’t have as much features I thought. It covered the base features and didn’t expand from that, I would love to see you being able to make goals to save up to on the platform and being able to see your payroll earlier rather than last minute.

### "Switching back to Square Payroll by year-end"

Not at all pleased. I was hoping to love this but did not

Pros

The accountant login feature is what drew me in so I could move multiple clients over under one user login and switch back and forth between payroll clients.

Cons

Difficult to use. Not user friendly. Time-consuming and complicated. Report section needs major overhaul. Their Indiana WH1 payroll report needs to be DETAILED but it is a generic "summary" that does NOT include employee name, wages, etc. which is information that was needed to file COVID reports and ERC amendments. I wanted to love this software but ended up hating it. One client ended up with double processing that caused an overdraw and it took forever to fix it. I had to give them money out of business account to cover this mistake. Gusto was not quick to help out and never made it right with my company nor my client. I am glad I did not move all of my clients to this software and have moved all but one, who will be switching back to Square payroll by year-end.

THE only reason was the accountant login feature, but everything else in Gusto was a bad experience, so we are going 100% back to using Square Payroll

Pros

Nothing. I was migrated to it from XERO, when they decided to no longer do payroll

Cons

Honestly, I HATED the stupid animated piggy bank. Probably seems trivial, but it seemed emblematic of a company that was more concerned about making their software look like an iPhone app, than making it work well. The payroll was cumbersome. It woudn't let me do payroll early, or late. It basically made me run payroll within a two day window. Bank account low? Still made you run payroll, or would hassle you about messages about being late. Want to go on vacation and do a couple weeks of payroll early? Nope, out of luck. When they told me they would manage my health care premiums, I thought, great! Nope, after a week of emails and after several phone calls, I found out they were just trying to be group managers, and insurance brokers by offering me different insurers that I could choose. Zero help if I already had a group plan set up. Plus too expensive. Patriot is way simpler, and way cheaper. I do see lots of my millenial patients that are working for startups that probably won't be in business in 5 years seem to have Gusto as their payroll, so I'm just not the business that Gusto is a fit for.

### "Gusto is worth a try"

Gusto I believe will make our process better as we start the new year. I would not recommend a midyear conversion unless necessary as they could not support our questions .

Pros

Gusto removed a number of time consuming activities from my staff at a reasonable price. Once set up the software has been easy to use, but getting to this point took more time than we anticipated.

Cons

Customer service is lacking. Their CS team does not understand their own product and much time is spent educating THEIR staff. Set up mid-year was also difficult even though our account manager said we would have assistance.

### "Payroll that does not disappoint"

Pros

This system is not only easy to set up but the user end is incredibly friendly. The system tracks all of our payroll, PTO and tax information and all but runs itself. After having used a few other options this was by far the best value for our money.

Cons

They used to offer a paycheck advance option that some of our employees took advantage of and this feature was removed.

### "I couldn't operate with out"

It's the best. I was a small business other with employees for the first time and I was just overwhelmed. I tried several other payroll companies but it just seemed like an arduous process and I was not taken seriously. I had to get things in order so signed up for Gusto and was ready to go in just a few hours. It's the first thing I tell anyone looking to start a company with employees to get. I'm actually friends with some my accountant is crazy about it. They say i am the most organized client they have and they're blown away by all Gusto's features

Pros

I love the payroll management. I was so lost trying to understand how to handle employees payroll and taxes. I spoke to other companies but it was all behind closed doors. Also the automation. I like being able to set up my services with out talking to dozens of other people.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about Gusto. it doesn't things I don't even realize i need it to do before some tax form comes up.

What a shame for the defects. After all I appreciate the design and the quick management. But, when you need a good program for manage by your own Many and many people, you deserve a great attenction by the software you bought

Pros

I can explain my own experience with that software. It s a real up-to-date system , the best description I can use to explain Gusto is like an “Accounting social network”. Indeed, you can track everything of the life circle of the employer since his first step in the Company, and follow him situation about payroll, day off, accrued holidays, debts, down payment, time of entrance, exit or desease. Every page has its history for each person you want discuss about. Really helpful to paint an employer picture, even for a future recommendation letter for example, or for an employers cut, how to choose the most problematic person.

Cons

But..to be honest, let s start to talk about what makes Gusto the software I won t never choose again. First step: you can t test the software. No free trial. Let s buy it with blind eyes and it requests time to be improved, as well no good infoes shown . Second : bad bad bad and please help me to say bad assistance, terrible or inexistent. Plus, with that price, u can get some better software. Just has to check for it.

Pros

Onboarding new hire is now easy and fast with Gusto. I’m able to process payroll on time and very accurate, my employees are happy every month. I’m very keen with financial reports and Gusto helps me keep the payroll reports in check and updated at all times. The customer service is very friendly and helpful. I love the fact that I’m able to schedule payments which pays on time without any delays or challenges. Gusto is very affordable comparing the feature it has you will get value for your money. Handled payroll taxes like a pro. Gusto helps me track and monitor my employees time and attendance, this really helps when computing the employee benefits.

Cons

Gusto makes everything super easy. I recommend it to everyone but especially HR practitioners
