May 28, 2021 5.0 Great customer service, great value, great UI, I've referred to to so many people already. Pros It's like someone was listening to me complain about Quickbooks payroll and ADP (and Tsheets) and made a software just for me. It's so simple - I was using an accountant to run payroll through ADP - Gusto saves so much time I can do it myself. Cons The reporting tools aren't super robust. Alternatives considered [QuickBooks Payroll](https://www.capterra.com/p/174981/QuickBooks/) Reason for choosing Gusto Great sales and onboarding experience and multiple people referred me to them. Switched from [RUN Powered by ADP](https://www.capterra.com/p/185859/RUN/) ADP is so archaic and the employee experience was too confusing for them. Analyst Investment Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Makes getting paid and managing my retirement easy" November 27, 2019 5.0 The UI of Gusto is robust. There was only one time while working with Gusto that I didn't know how to find something: which was when I switched from being a contractor at the firm to being a part-time employee. I wasn't sure where I could find my employee paystubs and this was due to the system thinking I wanted to see the contractor's dashboard. I eventually figured it out but it would have been nice if Gusto automatically showed me the employee dashboard considering that I was recently onboarded. Pros For me, the integration of Gusto with my retirement savings (Guideline) is amazing. The ability for me to click on the link to my Guideline account and see that Gusto is tracking this information as well is a key functionality of Gusto that I love. Cons If there was some way to fully integrate my health, dental, and vision insurance into the software that would be great as well. I can see what my employer is contributing every paycheck, however, I also would like to be able to see a link to my provider on Gusto if that was possible. It would be nice to use Gusto as a one-stop-shop location (virtually) that I could see all of this information. Review Source VE Vincent E. Pros I continue to enjoy the ease of use of Gusto in retrieving tax and payroll documents and adjusting my direct deposits. Cons I believe that Gusto could have a better interface where it is easier to check my accrued leave balances and print out copies of those without having to screen shot them. April 6, 2021 5.0 I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Gusto. Everything from employee management, W2s, and weekly payroll is always easy to use and we have never run into any issues. I highly recommend it to my other friends who run small businesses. Pros The thing I like most about Gusto is how intuitive it is. Any time I need to fill out a form or update something Gusto probably already has a notification on the home screen alerting me of what I need to take care of that week. This has happened multiple times where I had forgotten about something but because I logged into Gusto the software reminded me! Cons Honesty I understand the need for two-factor identification but being reminded of it constantly until I gave in and now I have an extra step of checking my phone every time I log in is a little annoying. Pros Gusto is super easy to navigate and also offers many options to 401k and health insurance. It is also more personal than other payroll processing companies such as just works. ALSO, Gusto integrates with QBO!!! Gusto can automatically post payroll journal entries to the accounting software. Cons Nothing much really. I very much enjoy Gusto. I just wish the 401k option could've been better. Pros gusto is very user friendly, able to see hours worked, print documents etc. Cons My only negative experience is when they stopped allowing to borrow money against your upcoming check. December 31, 2018 5.0 Pros I love that Gusto does all of the HR work for me and that my team can log in anytime to download a past pay. It's easy to make payroll and team member updates and add bonuses or commission on the fly. Any time I've had a problem I've been able to get in touch with a friendly helpful person on the phone immediately and that is SO important with a payroll company! Cons I sometimes have trouble trying to get tax notices handled properly. I would like a way to enter employee pay by salary and not indicate hourly rate on the paycheck. And I think it would be helpful to enter an end date of a terminated employee but not have to send a physical check for the final pay. Review Source Christopher J. F. It's incredibly easy-to-use. Not much I can say after that. Oh and their support is great. Pros Gusto is the easiest, and most user-friendly app to manage people, payroll and benefits. At work, I train people on how to use this product and it takes me under 30 minutes to do so. It's incredibly user-friendly, and if you ever have issues that would typically require an HR person (i.e tricky HR cases), you could reach out to Gusto and they could help you navigate through it as the business owner. Pros I love that this payroll software is easy to use, and decently priced for the average startup. It has HR management, payroll and benefits all dolled into one. The interface is well designed and it’s enjoyabke for an administrator and for employees to use. One of my favorite, small things about gusto is that each payday you get an email that says “woohoo you got paid” and a paystub is in your inbox waiting for you. As a business owner, you can automate payroll which is a necessity because you have a lot on your plate already running an entire business. Gusto has your typical year end forms and connects/integrates with other HR platforms that focus on non-payroll activities so it’s a win win. Cons Gustos benefits are only available in certain states, so if you’re lucky you can use this feature, and they are rolling out more but it takes time. Review Source Edmond L. September 27, 2018 5.0 Although it's just a way to pay people, it matters a lot to the recipients. It's a neat and clean way to show your employees that you care by making payday (the reason we all show up) a bit easier to understand. Pros This service makes it VERY easy for all our employees to see not only when they were paid but a breakdown of their check. The stats offered are really helpful for employees that want to know where every cent goes that's not being directly put in their bank account. Their payday emails are fun. They are colorful, full of charts, and even include a bit of trivia. These fun emails help employees take an extra minute to review their current info so there is complete transparancy between employer and emplyee. Cons The only issue I had was already addressed. They would show your paycheck amount in the email. If someone was standing nearby or saw an open email, they might see something you'd rather keep private. They've recently introduced a link at the bottom of the email that will allow one to hide the paycheck amount in future emails. Review Source CC Cynthia C. It reduces the amount of time spent working on payroll related items. Plus if I ever have any questions or need help with something, their customer service is the best. Pros Yes, Gusto may be a bit more pricey in comparison to other payroll processing companies, but nothing compares to the quality. They take care of all the tax deposits and quarterly payroll tax return filings. If there is ever a notice, they take care of those. You can even automatize payroll. It makes my life so much easier! Plus customer service is great. Cons Nothing so far! All pros for Gusto. The best payroll processing company ever. Pros Gusto integrates all of the time and attendance, HR, Benefits, and Payroll tasks to create a central HR platform. It does a decent job streamlining across each of these HR-related tasks and is a good solution for smaller organizations. Gusto also integrates well with certain third party platforms to help with accounting and other functions. Cons Gusto is a great tool for smaller organizations, but doesn't have fulfill the same level of needs as a more robust HR tool. Like many of these tools the initial setup is cumbersome, but once that is in order things work well. Review Source SL Sierra L. However, the features that matter most, always have a glitch, and the glitch bounces around employees. This glitch, clocks employees in and out of shifts randomly typically around 12:59 Am, and clocks them back out around 1:37 Am. Every day, Every Week. Recording times are never reliable, the system will say it is clocking the employee in. When checked the employee will have no record but shows on their end nothing is wrong until the following day. At which point it then shows times that the employee most likely wasn't even at work. Pros The ease of payroll deployment is great. submit 2 days prior to disbursement and the employees have no issues. Cons Every aspect of the timeclock/tracking features. Review Source AP Amy P. January 27, 2019 5.0 Gusto is a great alternative for small businesses where cost is an issue. This is a low priced tool which allows you to avoid spending high costs on other premium payroll and benefits systems. Pros We use Gusto for our payroll needs as we are a small business unit. It has been super easy to onboard new employees and get them set up. Our feedback from staff is that they love this tool. They can easily access their paystubs, make changes and view their benefits, time off etc. This is a great low-cost option for self-service payroll. The interface is very fun, friendly and intuitive. Gusto has a great UI and they always include fun facts and images on their home dashboard page. I would definitely recommend this product! Cons Unfortunately, we did have an issue with customer service and our new benefits set up. We were told it would be set up and ready to go only to find out that we were misinformed and it would take an additional month to get the benefits set up. It could have been a one time erroneous issue but it did set us back a month and cause some employees to be upset. I think they could improve on their customer service wait time (Monday morning wait times are the worst). Review Source RG Rosie G. No filling out IRS forms just set it and forget kinda. Pros One of the best features is that we don't have to worry about calculating and paying our payroll taxes. Its something small businesses struggle with not you plugin in the time cards and hit submit and it's done. Cons It's fairly easy if you're tech-savvy. If this is your first time using software or a cloud platform like this it's a learning curve. February 24, 2021 5.0 I have used many payroll processing systems in the past and by far Gusto is the easiest and most adaptable. I would highly recommend it. Pros It is user-friendly and easy to access and manage. Gusto does not make it rocket science to use their payroll portable. From onboarding a new hire, processing payroll to the dismissal of an employee they basically give you packets and maps to everything you need at your fingertips. Cons There are a lot of messages on the Dashboard every day to read. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. They are not all for you to complete but you have to pay attention because in between some of the messages there are the critical tasks that you must finish by a specific time frame.
