Pros The part where the company electronically handles the necessary paperwork to help client companies comply with tax, labor and immigration laws. Pros I like how the design of the webpage and emails are simple and enjoyable, i can navigate it and understand it really easily, its very transparent which i value alot since it comes down to my payroll. Cons Sometimes it can get a little complicated to do some processes and it isnt that clear on what i have to do to to finish, like checking my email for a certain link but other than nothing else. April 16, 2018 5.0 Gusto saves me so much time and worry. I know that our benefits are managed correctly and that we are always in compliance. I also know that everything on the payroll side is taken care of and if there is an issue or mistake the super amazing customer support team is ready to help! Pros We love using Gusto for not only our payroll but they also manage all of our benefits. Gusto managing our benefits has been such a life saver! I don't have to think about being in compliance anymore I know that they are keeping everything up to date. I get reminders when it's time to run payroll, when new employees need to sign up for benefits and when we need to renew our benefits. Cons Gusto has wonderful customer support the only downside for me is that when you call in you are always talking to a new person, sometimes that can make it a little challenging to efficiently get the answer or help I'm looking for, but they will help until the job is done! December 15, 2019 5.0 Currently, I'm only managing the team overseeing Gusto's integration into our system, but as far as I can tell, they've really taken a liking to this over other similar software we've experimented with. I will keep using this software as long as I can. Pros After working with similar platforms - zenefits, patriot - my HR team seems to have really taken a liking to gusto. The other platforms mentioned were too bogged down with useless tools that the interface seemed too clunky and awkward. Gusto does away with all these frills and makes everything seem a little bit clearer. So far my team has no complaints. Cons While I do appreciate the lack of bells and whistles, there are just a few things i would add to this software. For one, I'd like to see them add a photo feature to make identifying employees a little easier on my hr team, we have a huge team of employees (a little under 400) and it can be hard to keep track of them all without something like this. Gusto wins in my book for several reason from a User end. First off, it is super user friendly. It's easy to navigate, they email you as soon as your paycheck hits (my current software has a delay in this), and two huge bonuses are that you can export your W4s straight into your tax software by linking with Gusto \*and\* you can access multiple jobs from it. This was great when several jobs I worked all used Gusto, because come tax season, I didn't have to log into four different sites. Cons There was nothing I disliked about Gusto. If I had to reach, I'd simply say that their cute, fun aesthetic also reaches their print PDF paystubs, which made me a little nervous when I was turning them in to be approved for an apartment or such. June 19, 2018 4.0 Pros Gusto is a perfect and easy to use payroll portal both for employer & employees. It has a self on boarding system, for employers to send new hires their offer letter and paper work through its portal. Employees can easily update their address, direct deposit info, withholding all in one place. Previous month’s pay stubs can also be accessed easily. Employees can easily load W2 directly into turbo tax through its website. One can also keep track on the taxes paid. Gusto also offers detailed description and helpful tips of required information to be inputted. Its editing process is also very simple & straightforward when any changes need to be made to employee info or business features. Cons Gusto seems overwhelmed and unprepared for the renewal period. Also there is no invoice function, so contractors cannot submit an invoice and have their managers approve it. A separate system for contractors for invoicing needs to be maintained. Also Direct Deposit should be little faster. Customer service is also not that good. Review Source Autumn W. However, it doeseet the needs and is fairly priced for the value. Pros Gusto is well known, reasonably priced and exclusively integrated with some other accounting systems. Insurance Producer/Notary Insurance Used the software for: I used a free trial ### "Not what i would expect in a payroll company" December 5, 2019 3.0 My overall experience started off great then plummeted rapidly the more I got into the meaty stuff. So I would go with not very good. Pros I liked the interface they used it was simple enough to navigate through. I did like how they offer retirement plans, as well as health insurance and pay as you go workman's compensation. Cons I did not like how no one was willing to train us properly on the software or website. Every time we added a new company and vetted them it would say ok good to run payroll then.... Once you logged back in to run payroll it would always stop and ask for more verification for the employer. I called several times to complain about some of the things that they were requesting as the customer no longer had possession of the document or did not feel comfortable providing the document. It seemed like I could never fully ever get anyone set up. Employees like to use the tool and it provides good insights for payroll, benefits, and time off. Cons Could have better built out processes. performance management process needs to be worked out so that it can be catered to org and their structre. Gusto is the quickest to setup and maintain. Pros Ease of use to run payroll for both Employees and Contractors. They also have an awesome employee feedback service, which allows me to get a pulse on how the company is running directly from the employees themselves. Cons It's a bit pricy but totally worth it if you want a simplified easy to use solution. Alternatives considered [Square Payments](https://www.capterra.com/p/170278/Square-Payments-Processing/) Reason for choosing Gusto Square's Payroll interface is simple, but almost too simple, pulling reports was kind of a pain and difficult to integrate our accountant into. Project Manager Graphic Design Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Ideal for a small business" May 3, 2021 5.0 We needed a system to take payroll and compensation / benefits management out of the hands of our already overworked team members. We've been really pleased with Gusto, and the team members who have handled our account have been responsive and friendly. Pros We are a really small business, and don't have the staff to warrant an in-house bookkeeper or in-house HR team. When we were looking into options to outsource payroll and compensation management, Gusto came highly recommended, and it was an easy transition. We love being able to include quarterly profit sharing and a QSEHRA health benefits plan that gives our employees a reimbursement on a part of their health insurance premium. Cons The QSEHRA plan doesn't have all the functionality that the government-level program indicates - while a full QSEHRA plan would cover health insurance premiums and any medical expenses, Gusto's plan only covers premiums - and only for employees who aren't covered on a spouse's plan. We had to come up with a workaround for one of our employees after we'd included the QSEHRA as a benefit before we realized that Gusto's plan doesn't include all the options for reimbursement. Gusto makes it easy to quickly download and see my paystubs so I can keep track of my earnings for taxes. I even received an email reminder that 1099-MISC forms would be sent out soon and that I should double check my name and address, giving me a link to send an email to the company with a pre-formed message about updating my information. While I'm no longer using Gusto because I'm not working with the company anymore, it is a great tool to use. Cons I can't find something to dislike about Gusto. The platform is simple to navigate and if I needed to find something, customer service is easily accessible. Review Source Mindy F. Being able to use the same app or website to make changes to those is a gamechanger in my experience. Pros I like that you have a connection to several HR related pieces of information without needing to contact HR. My favorite feature is requesting time off and seeing my available days in one place. Cons I don't have any questions about any features. The ones available to me have all worked great. I'm not on the HR side so I can't comment on those. Pros 1) Gusto manages the important tasks of HR, minimizes incorrect tax errors, helps with employee benefits. 2) It manages the payroll with its automated features. 3) It tracks the time if anybody is working on an hourly basis. 4) It helps to create an onboarding checklist and documents while hiring people. Cons 1) There is no geo-tracking system. 2) It is not for international clients, works only in the US. 3) It does not have a mobile app version. I log in once monthly to approve processing and, with a click, my work is done. My previous payroll service was as easy, but less secure, without online reports, and twice the price. Pros It is easy to use and just obtrusive enough so as to keep this procrastinator engaged and on time. That's no small feat! Cons I wish one service managed everything rather than three companies mastering aspects of my bookkeeping, payroll, and quarterly tax filings. It's a little confusing sometimes when it comes to who to contact with which questions. Reason for choosing Gusto Cost, ease of use, security, reports, scheduled reminders.
