The website is also easy to navigate through. I only had one bad experience with Gusto, but they fixed the bugs and issues really quick, and their customer support helped out as well. The platform is easy to use and does a great job simplifying payroll and HR tasks that can otherwise be time-consuming and complicated. I especially appreciated the automation features, which made processes like tax filings and employee payments much more efficient. While there are some limitations with customization and pricing for more advanced features, the convenience and reliability of the system make it a strong option for small to mid-sized businesses. Pros What I liked most about Gusto was how user-friendly and intuitive the platform is. Everything from running payroll to managing employee information is clearly organized, which makes it easy to navigate even without much prior experience. I also appreciated how automated many processes are, like tax calculations and filings, which saves a lot of time and reduces the risk of errors. It gets the job done in a straightforward package and employees have minimal, if no issues using it. Pros Very easy to use, rarely ever any downtime and has all the necessary features to get the job done. We have also noticed it has updated with many useful features since we've started using it. Cons It does take a bit of practice or at least consistent usage to be able to navigate through all the features quickly. However, it's not something that I will say is too difficult either. Everything that i have used personally has been easy to use. May 4, 2026 4.0 I enjoyed using gusto. I mostly used the app on my phone. It was easy to see my hours for the day and week when logging out for lunch and could accurately verify my hours each day so I was confident my paycheck would be correct. Pros I like that gusto has a website and app for your phone that sync together. You are able to see just as many features on the app as it does on the desktop site. Taxes are handled through Gusto so I don’t have to worry too much about that either. Pros Onboarding worked as well as could be hoped for. When we added a bunch of new hires at once the onboarding process did not fall apart. Cons The Pay Group Setting is buried behind some obscure Yes/No toggle. This took me TWO HOURS TO FIND ON TUESDAY before I clicked the wrong Menu and inadvertently found it. Creating customized reports are nearly impossible. Review Source SB Sophie B. HR Admin Sports Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Gusto for payroll and onboarding" March 4, 2026 3.0 Pros Being in HR, using a platform like Gusto was very helpful as everything is one place. I found it quite easy to process payroll and onboard new employees. I only have 3 locations that I had to cover but it made it easy to switch between different locations. As well as offering the different ways to label the employees and make sure the correct tax documents were associated with the correct person. Cons I felt as though anytime I needed something through customer support, it would be someone who does not truly understand the situation or they did not speak english. It is a modern, user-friendly HR solution that I'd recommend to anybody. Pros Gusto, as a user, is incredibly simple to use and navigate. All the tools it has for employee management are easily understood and it makes managing HR responsibilities for our small team a breeze. The ability to access everything on mobile allows for quick uses. Cons The time-off features work really well, but could be a little more robust. It would especially nice if there was a more detailed view of the calendar for the whole team with all the time-off visible. Everting is stored for you digitally so you don’t have to keep track of documents. I love the app. It’s easy to use and user friendly. Pros How easy it is to track your hours,time off and pay. I can go back to the first paycheck I got. I can also request time off and see my balances in an instant. Cons Gusto requires me to put a note every time I clock in and it doesn’t any of my coworkers. I just type “on site” each morning because I don’t know what else to say. July 29, 2025 1.0 Up until the transition to Elevate and processing FSA by Gusto, everything was fine. For some reason, the team at Gusto doesn't get FSA. Pros Gusto as a payroll management software/app is very close to a four star. Cute, gets the job done well, nice emails letting you know you paycheck is coming and more. Very easy to use when considering JUST payroll. Cons When Gusto incorporated Elevate to run FSA, it has literally been a nightmare! It's so bad, we don't want to do FSA anymore! Literally, just this week, we had an issue with a credit card transaction denied from a pharmacy. When we checked with Gusto support (which can only be done by AI or via email if AI starts messing up), it was because a pharmacy was marked as a non-FSA entity. A pharmacy? It was such a mess that what was 100% automated by the doctor and pharmacy, the pharmacy couldn't undo the transaction and was going to send back the prescription. The family had to go in person to the pharmacy, use a different credit card and not be able to use their own FSA money. Then, in Gusto attempting to fix the bug had the audacity to ask for a receipt for the transaction. Really!! A receipt for a denied transaction. Before I would ever recommend that great payroll that Gusto has been, they need to either stop doing FSA all together or find a partner that does FSA well. Customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I spent 4 days and countless hours on the phone with no resolution. I told the supervisor who called me back I wanted a refund and that I wanted to cancel. I was never given the procedure to cancel and was charged again. I was refused a refund. Pros Nothing, It was not good from start to finish. I have nothing good to report. I ran one payroll run and it was a disaster Cons Everything, from time I signed up until I was able to cancel. July 3, 2025 5.0 Gusto covers all the relevant functions for our daily HR work. The interface and operation are simple and clear. The individual customization options for time tracking and digital personnel file management make it much easier to use. Pros Time tracking is made easy with a start/stop function or the option to manually add time. You can also set a time limit so that subsequent changes are only possible for a certain number of days. The administrator role allows you to view and edit all time accounts. However, if someone changes something, it is displayed by name in the overtime overview, so all changes can be tracked. Cons It would be nice if the tool also allowed regular feedback discussions to be recorded directly in the tool and not just uploaded as a single document to the employee. I love the vibe in the UI - they've made lots of things - pay, benefits - super super easy to access and update. Cons Maybe just that there's a lot more visible to me than I need to access - lots of other features that aren't really helpful and clutter up the view a bit.
