They were incredibly helpful during 2020/2021 when employee retention credits became available to us as a pandemic resource. I will continue to use Gusto because of its ease of use and integration into our work operation! Pros I love how easy it is to process payroll online using Gusto. The interface is so user friendly and it makes what can otherwise be a confusing and stressful aspect of your operation seamless and stress-free. I also find their customer service to be very helpful. Cons I wish it was more integrated for me to be able to use it for all of my contractor payments however it is not set up in a way that would be conducive to that aspect of our business at this time. The instructions that assist you in finding what you require are excellent (step-by-step guide). The personalized assistance provided through the chat function has been fantastic....friendly and prompt customer support. It also works with my donation management and accounting software. It's incredibly simple to use. The reminders are useful based on when it's time to run payroll when it's time to file taxes, and so on. With gusto, our employees can easily have access to their paystubs on time. Prompt email received whenever payment Is sent out is also a good feature of this software. Cons In terms of functionality, gusto is very good. But costing and fees are a bit high considering small businesses or startups looking at the $6 cost per person. Review Source Daniel L. Pros My business has tried several payroll systems to date; however, this is one of the better software's we found. It is extremely easy to correct errors, change important numbers, and very flexible for beginners. I have unfortunately had some turnover on the payroll side, but Gusto makes it easy for new users to adapt to the software. Payroll is so important, we don't mind paying a company to get it right, and make our lives easier. Pros As an employee, I love that they started offering low-interest microloans to combat payday and predatory lending. These are small cash bumps for situations where you have a bill due a few days before payday. Fantastic customer centric approach. As an employer, I love that they integrate with many of the common time tracking software companies. Cons Not a lot of negatives here. I suppose a perceived negative for some may be the price, but you get what you pay for, and Gusto has always delivered for our team. To be fair, we haven't tried other payroll companies because Gusto has always just work for us. That should actually be a pro, not a con to this though. Review Source Catherine M. We recently moved our benefit tracking from KinHR into Gusto because we like it so much. I love that I can make changes to the accounts I deposit money into whenever I want, with little bother of the accountant. I can also change my withholding amounts, HSA amounts, and more from the user interface. As an employee, this saves me a lot of hassle for managing my personal documents, when before I would have to contact HR and fill out forms. I am able to stay on top of my savings deposits, federal withholding, and time off. Pros \- Direct deposit and accounts can be modified online - Tax documents can be modified online - Paystubs are easy to access and deductions clear - Easy to login with SSO - Easy to request time off and see vacation dates Cons \- Updating addresses on W4's doesn't always work as expected. - The default email option shows an employee's salary in the email, in big giant text (weird in an open office). Pros I really enjoy the simplicity and ease of use of Gusto, especially with unemployment and tax filing. I've used it for a couple entertainment production projects I've worked on and the software made it really easy to keep track of every payment I needed to make for people who worked on the project. Super easy and quick to set up, and the online help section is a great resource. Cons Certainly price is somewhat of a con, as the software is pretty expensive. But in my experience, it is worth the price, so it's tough to complain about it too much. Pros I love the interface and ease of use of Gusto. It made onboarding to new jobs fast and easy. Being able to log in and view information like timesheets and tax information made staying on top of your work a breeze. Cons Some of the tabs are difficult to navigate and it took me a while to realize that multiple jobs can have you registered on Gusto at the same time. I was completely new to the whole thing, and was a bit intimidated by all the requirements of doing payroll. After looking into a few payroll software options, I went with Gusto and am glad I did. It walked me through everything, in a very user-friendly way. It has helpful articles about the various requirements of payroll taxes, steps for hiring employees, forms to fill out, etc. The setup took a bit of time, but was a pretty reasonable process. Now that it's all set up, I don't have to spend hardly any time at all on payroll. I spend maybe 10-15 minutes every two weeks on payroll, and then don't have to think about it. Gusto handles all the payroll taxes (filing, paying, etc), and employee direct deposits. It honestly couldn't be easier. Cons I had a little bit of a problem getting my state taxes account set up. For some reason, it was giving me error messages about account numbers and things. Customer service was able to help me through it, and figure out what the issue was on their end. That was the only part of the process that wasn't totally painless. The only thing I wish this software had is a timecard functionality. Review Source SJ Smita J. Pros Gusto is easy to use and navigate. I like how they take care of paying all aspects of payroll and also sending and filing tax forms along with W-2 and 1099. Cons Sometimes finding the reports I need takes some time but I can usually find it or contact customer service and they can direct me. I am now Gusto certified - have set up about a half dozen clients and help them administrate it. I love that it’s super easy to have employees report hours, to let payroll for salaried employees run on auto-pilot AND no more journal entries for me to write because of the app integration between Gusto and QuickBooks Online / Xero. I have not only set up all of my new clients with Gusto, but I’ve also converted a few and helped other accountants learn the platform! Cons I wish that there was a direct feed from state agencies into Gusto to report things like changes in UI rates. I felt that if my customer service experience was this bad during the onboarding process, then it’s not a software I want to bet on. Pros Easy to use the software and has the key functions needed to do payroll management for a software Cons Customer support is a disaster. It’s incredibly slow, which had me wasting hours of my time in the onboarding process. Literally it would take 24 hrs + to get any response to my questions. Navigating the FAQs was also cumbersome and incredibly frustrating. You can pay services. But the unbeliavable thing is, that you can seen all the hours and the basic salary. I can always find what I need and get a nice email every pay period showing the breakdown of my paycheck. Pros This software is cloud-based and simple to use for users. It has a nice dashboard layout and quickly able to navigate from the left-side display. You can easily find your paystubs all the way back to your start date and see year to date statistics about your pay, benefits, and deductions. There is also a tab for your benefits so if you have a 401K or HSA/FSA you can see what, is contributed to those. Easily update your state and federal allowances yourself and add any additional withholdings with the click of a button. Also, have a documents section that has all of your prior year W-2s. One nice feature is the giving section. If you give regularly to a charity you can have it deducted directly from your paycheck. Cons Like many cloud-based applications we use in our office the calendar is all right but not useful. April 22, 2023 3.0 On \[sensitive content hidden\] we discovered that unauthorized criminal access to our companies Gusto Account had misdirected employee pay to go to hacker bank accounts. After 2 weeks of literally BEGGING for assistance, clarification, resolution, anything really….seriously begging, we received this generic word salad….“I am currently working with our security, payments and legal team to determine the next steps and gather more details. I will update you shortly.”This statement took 2 weeks!-No funds recovered as promised. No resolution after 2 weeks.On \[sensitive content hidden\] FINALLY received a call from Gusto 2 full weeks after the account was compromise telling me they were taking NO RESPONSIBILITY for the digital breach because the account was accessed by an authorized Admin in New Jersey. I am the admin, and I have NEVER been to New Jersey in my life!!! Gusto did not care and refused to accept any responsibility for the digital breach of our account!A PAYROLL COMPANY THAT CAN’T KEEP YOUR ACCOUNTS PROTECTED????A PAYROLL COMPANY THAT IS NOT SECURE ENOUGH TO STOP HACKERS AND THIEVES??AND WORSE OF ALL - A PAYROLL COMPANY that Takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for the the account being hacked??
