I imagine if your company is small and doesn't currently offer benefits or if you chose to re-do your benefits, Gusto probably will be a good fit. However, if you already have benefits in place and you are going to migrate over from another broker, I would STRONGLY caution you not to do so. Communication during the period has been scarce, action slow, and quite frankly, they dropped the ball. They do not appear to provide the same level of service that a traditional broker typically provides (USI, Higginbotham, Watkins, etc.) Pros payroll side of Gusto is quite good-- easy to use, relatively quick Cons Software seems really good-- issue is in their support, specifically in migrating existing benefits obtained from our outside insurance broker to Gusto's plan. It's been 60 days since I changed Broker of Record, and Gusto still hasn't completed the migration of existing plans, that had NO changes. Reason for choosing Gusto recommendation from a peer. And when we hire new team members, the onboarding process with Gusto couldn't make things simpler. Pros As a small business, payroll and employee management has always been one of those annoying aspects that comes with the territory. However, since switching over to Gusto, I know longer have to field requests for old paystubs, spend more than half an hour on payroll, and worry about deductions. And best of all, I can access it from anywhere, and it makes direct deposit setup for our employees so easy! Cons My only wish is for my integrations, and, unfortunately, some of the benefits packages that Gusto integrates seamlessly with aren't available in my state. Review Source MaryJane C. Also, our team frequently uses the calendar integration for pay days, birthdays, and anniversaries which really helps with employee recognition. Easy to access pay stubs and W-2s on desktop and mobile which is very convenient as well. Cons I can't think of any at this time. For 1099 employees it's extremely easy for them to input their hours (with notes) and for w2 it's easy for them to administer their accounts. Pros Being in a firm that is growing rapidly I love that I don't have to stress about making sure everyone is paid on time and that I am able to review their submitted requests for sick leave or vacation. I love that Gusto now gives the employees of the firm the option to track their time! This has been one of my most favorite features of Gusto! Gusto continuously amazes me with their awesome updates. " May 8, 2018 5.0 Pros I could write an essay on all the reasons Gusto has improved our business and my life. No longer do i deal with all the tiring headaches and inefficiencies of old payroll systems. I can easily process payrolls, bonuses, file taxes, onboard new employees, and more all in one complete system. We recently integrated our health benefits in Gusto as well and it's very easy to manage. Cons They upped the price fairly recently but it still feels very reasonable for how much value and time-saving we are getting out of the platform. Automates tax payments, and allows us to handle contractor and w2 payments. Love love love payroll on autopilot, though I wish it could be even better. Cons Wish that I could specify a different # of default hours for certain employees (who work 3/4 time, for example), so that payroll on autopilot could be even more useful. Wish that I could modify accepted PTO requests - sometimes folks include a paid holiday in error in their request, or put in a request for hours that they are actually making up elsewhere, so aren't PTO. Many of them are still doing their own payroll internally through Quickbooks or something. But the problem with that is that there are really no other extra features besides just payroll. Whereas Gusto has digital onboarding, online timecards, and automatic accrual tracking. And, I know I said it before, the system is SO super simple that even a kid could use it. Pros Oh my goodness this is literally the easiest payroll software EVER! I work mostly with small non-profit organizations who struggle with the business side of things but Gusto is so super easy, that it is honestly hard to mess anything up! I love their graphics, the easy steps, and how simple it is to find stuff. On top of all of this, their customer service is amazing! Cons The cost is a little on the high side, especially the per person cost for some of their higher levels of service. With that being said, it is the perfect software for organizations that are smaller and don't necessary need the 50 million bells and whistles but benefit from the additional features even in the base plan. They take away a lot of the headache that you can get stuck with when running a business. They run payroll as often as you want without any extra fees like other companies. They handle W2s and are super helpful. I couldn't be more pleased Cons They are a little hard to get a hold of at times. I can't easily find a phone number on their page and the chat bubble doesn't always show up on the site. I should really save their contact info somewhere but I never do. Review Source Aline A. It's been amazing. Pros Gusto is one of those services which could dramatically increase in price and I'd still keep paying. It has become indispensable and I recommend it to every business owner I talk to. I love how easy it makes it to grant all employees constant access to all their payroll information, HR documents, and general company resources. I've used ADP, Wave, and a local company to do payroll. Gusto is the least expensive, fastest, and all around best experience. Pros SO EASY! SO SMART! SO FRIENDLY! Handles all the Tax Man stuff making my life less hectic and easier to manage. Cons If I had to pick at it and make a con it'd be the lack of an app to make approving payroll even faster. Their mobile site works well enough that it isn't a huge deal, but I bet a mobile app would be able to streamline it even further, caching some assets, making it feel faster. Review Source ZT Zack T. Pros Gusto makes payroll quick and easy to be run. Once employees have been setup, it just takes 3 clicks to run payroll for a month. Input of reimbursements/time off/etc is very simple and straightforward. They also have a very friendly UI making it easy to navigate. The reports are very easy to generate, and the Xero integration is a fantastic time saver. Cons Customer service is generally quite quick to reply, but sometimes it takes a few days. Glitches do occur every once in a while, but once reported to the CS team they tend to take care of it pretty quickly. Review Source CB Chandra B. Pros I like that the platform is easy to use. As a new business owner it met my needs to be able to pay my employees and have important information obtained, maintained and stored. It is great to have my taxes managed and reported when necessary. I could not achieve all of these functions on my own. I wouldn't know where to start. I also love the information it always supplies on the platform. Cons So far the thing that I did not like which in fairness is probably specific to my situation is I have attempted twice to get information on how to set up offering benefits for my office. The customer service has been really helpful at answering questions I have on the fly. Pros I like that all employees have access to their gusto accounts and can change their personal information and look at paystubs on their time instead of mine. Cons I do not like that when pay stubs and check are printed out they are not in any particular order. I would prefer them to be alphabetically. I also do not like that the pay roll menu does not allow to make multiple payrolls at one time. There are no shady portals or late 90s websites to sign into that you only need Internet Explorer to use. Pros Gusto makes it easy to on-board, view your role information, look at past paychecks, and select your insurance or perks options. Cons Nothing that I didn't love really. Pros The interface is intuitive and the platform integrates with Homebase, our time tracking software. We find this platform to be very affordable and robust for helping us capture payroll, overtime, bonuses, and pay our payroll taxes. Their customer support is great as well.
