February 25, 2022 5.0 We ended up switching to Paylocity for global support, and I miss Gusto every day. The interface is intuitive enough for a toddler, and the extremely pleasing to use. Pages load fast and I did not encounter a single bug during the time I used it. Visualizations are pretty and useful. Overall, a no-brainer as a user of the software for a payroll solution. Pros \- The org chart visualization is aesthetic and helpful, especially as our team grew bigger and I needed more cross functional collaboration - Paystub reporting is accurate and detailed. I loved view the YTD stats. - You can get $500 in advance of your payday for unforeseen expenses. - PTO/sick leave tracking is a pleasure to use, very intuitive. Automatically handles weekends and holidays and so much better than Paylocity. Company holidays are easily accessible, and they provide a gcal for easy viewing. - Easy to get salary deposited to multiple bank accounts - Tax documents are easily accessible Cons \- Expense tracking does not hold its own with tools like Expensify and TripActions Liquid. Would be cool to not need additional tools. There is no OCR for receipts, no ability to add comments, save drafts etc. Review Source Ellis Chase H. May 9, 2018 5.0 Great access to HR and payroll resources and info. It's cool and edgy. Woohoo for that. I love it, and despite its price, I'd still recommend it. Pros The features are fantastic. Quotes of the day, funny personal featurettes, etc... This software has a ton of gimmicky (yes gimmicky) things that make it cool. And all of this is outside of it being a fantastic payroll resource. I have access to check stubs and past payment history and everything I need to figure things out. Plus, changing my tax info is super easy. I love it. Cons It is fairly expensive. I have a friend that runs a company that will outsource payroll and HR and insurance details for a cheaper price at better personalization, but It's a bit more complicated. I digress. Such a breath of fresh air in the modern digital age. Cons There is no rep we can go to on the mid-tier plans. They also submit all the tax forms for me which save me a ton of time! Cons nothing really, it was easy to get started. Support is always super helpful and incredibly fast! Pros It's easy to use, the user interface is friendly, no payroll errors Cons It's a bit pricey and my big drawback is that it doesn't have like an offline backup. Once internet connection is poor, the software cannot be optimally used Switched from [PaySoft Payroll](https://www.capterra.com/p/193397/PaySoft-Payroll/) Because Gusto is far superior. Gusto's interface is pretty clean and simple which can appeal to clients. ADP and Paychex might be better options for clients who need additional items such as 401k plans, workers comp, etc. Pros Gusto prices are on the lower end compared to competitors such as QBO, ADP, and Paychex. The interface looks clean and simple. Looking for reports is easier compared to to other interfaces. The incentives for accountants to refer clients are pretty aggressive but this seems to change as competitors adapt. Cons I have dealt with issues in the past which take months to resolve. It requires little input besides typing in the hours worked. Pros Gusto greatly simplified payroll. It automatically deducted my taxes and remitted them so I didn't have to worry about incorrect calculations or missing tax deadlines. Their customer service is also excellent. The few times that I did have to contact support they were quick to respond and corrected the issues. Cons Gusto is a bit pricey for smaller businesses; however, it is competitive with other products out there and automatic taxes and payroll made me choose it over the alternatives. Cons They Failed to pay my taxes. I had to pay them myself and had a penalty because they did not pay the taxes. To date I have sent them 10 (TEN), yes 10 emails and phone calls collectively. I have receive ZERO help. (Only promises). They STILL have my money for paying taxes and have REFUSED to call me back. Integration with Quick-books failed and Gusto blamed that on Quick-books. Reason for choosing Gusto Supposed good ratings. Not sure why they have good ratings, what I have found is they are terrible. Review Source Justin D. July 15, 2018 5.0 I love the user-friendly site and ability to easily view and understand my paystubs and time off. I also like that I can see previous information and I can access my profile from when I was a contract worker. Pros I like the user friendly layout of the site. It's easy to understand my paystub and easy to request off time off and see what time I have remaining. I also like that I can easily see past pay and request off information. Cons I need to play with it a bit more, but I'd like for it to automatically bring me to my employee profile, rather than my old contractor profile. When I started with my company, I was a contractor, but am now a full-time employee and thus I have a different profile for that. Pros We use it mostly for payroll and not much else. The site is in general intuitive and modern. However when you're a real user of the product, its product features can be rough around the edges. Cons As an example of why it's rough around the edges in real world use cases: downloading all of your paystubs for a whole year as individual PDFs isn't available. You either download one by one, or download all at once but the resulting file is all combined into one PDF and aren't even paged nicely (they are all bunched together). Despite the high cost of use, it does simplify our payroll and contractor payments–and helps us immensely at tax time. Pros The ease of use for running payroll is the best part of Gusto, no doubt. It also makes paying and managing my contractors very simple. We use it at tax time to handle 1099s and it is a godsend. Cons Easily the least enjoyable part of Gusto is the price point. Even as a two person business, we pay a decent amount just to use it to handle contractor payments and run payroll. And that price is exponentially higher the bigger your business is.
