Pros Gusto makes it easy to run payroll, add benefits, and generally provide many services to employees, even as a small startup. Their customer service is also first-rate Cons I wish it was easier to handle taxes for users in different states - right now they provide directions for registering, but you have to do it yourself. Transitioning from using an excel spreadsheet to log my hours, to Gusto has been a game-changer in our small business. It displays my rate, PTO, shift differentials, and more. It's super easy to use and I can't say enough good things about it. Cons Sometimes the Gusto software does not work on my laptop for whatever reason. I would see the walking pig, and get a notice about maintenance. However, being the resourceful person I am, I am able to log in on my phone to access my Gusto account and log my hours with ease. Gusto helped us solve this problem. Pros I like the ease of use and the ability to manage employee's payroll, W-2's, and benefits/deductions. I also like the onboarding feature which file the I-9 for new employees. Another nice feature is the birthday cards that the whole team can sign online. Cons I don't like that it doesn't specifically track vacation time. It calls it paid time off or PTO. Paid vacation and paid time off are not the same. There is even an app that goes along with this software which make using it easy. Great features and easy to maneuver to get to the information you need. Pros I love using my Gusto account! It is my first time using this software but I enjoy all the options available. I’m able to track my money, download check stubs, check my hour, and much more. December 23, 2020 5.0 Great customer service, so easy to use, and my favorite thing is digital onboarding. No more printing out I9s and tons of paperwork. I wanted to set the tone for employees that we are a high-performance culture, and a seamless onboarding process makes us feel larger than our company size. Pros As a small business with payroll that varies every week (commission-based), ease of use was my #1 factor. I couldn't ask for better hand-holding than with Gusto. They give me tons of reminders and I don't stress that I'm missing something by DIY-ing it. Cons I have not run into any missing features with Gusto yet, though it would be great if it integrated with my booking software (Blvd.). Currently I believe they only integrate with Vagaro for salons and spas. Pros Gusto is very user friendly. The web UI is clean and minimal so it doesn't get in it's own way. I love how you can ask for time off and your manager gets a notification sent to him and then you receive a notification when he approves it. You also have access to your pay-stubs and W2 forms so there is no need to deal with anyone in HR. Cons I don't like that there isn't a mobile app. I had to go to the mobile website (which is actually a very well done site) and save it as a bookmark on my phone. Review Source JG Jenny G. And their nav menu has too many clicks back and forth. They don't handle the delivery of year-end documents (W2s). Developer Computer Software Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Easiest HR Software" January 15, 2019 5.0 I've worked places where getting paystub information was so terribly difficult that I often never even tried. Also, submitting time off and understanding how much time off you still have involved doing complicated math and the forms were usually tucked away and such a bad user experience. I take for granted how easy it is to use this software! Pros The user experience is great! I like the personality that comes through in the emails when you're paid and when you log in to the dashboard. I really enjoy how easy it is to see remaining time off and request time off. The forms are great, and mobile friendly which is very important. I can easily access my pay stubs without having to log in to some HR portal or Firewall-protected service. Cons The only complaint (and so minor!) is that on a mobile device, the paystub PDF is often cut off and cannot be zoomed in on. I'm using an iPhone 8. I tried in landscape mode and in portrait mode and it's the same result. Otherwise, everything else is great. Otherwise, very satisfied - especially for the price. Pros This software is great to keep track of my employees, do payroll, easily send out W-2's, 1099's, etc. It's an excellent, low-cost service and support has been there the (few) times it has been needed. I haven't had any errors so far, which is amazing because i've used a few other programs before and i've definitely had some errors. Cons I might run into some issues with employees in multiple states coming up, as i've heard from other users. It's not exactly the most flexible program out there either, but i try to just find my own workarounds on certain issues, and i really havent had much trouble at all so far. It has allowed me to manage and organize all my employees and their preferences in one spot while allowing me to run payroll and file tax forms with ease. I am new at running a business and Gusto has really helped with the learning curve! Pros This software has not only made my life easier when it comes to payroll because it's so simple and easy to use, but it has allowed me to learn more because of all the tutorials and explanations that it gives. If I have a question, I don't have to hop on the phone or a chat line to get my questions answered because they have everything spelled out and explained for the "regular" non-tax/accountant professional. Cons I have no current complaints about this software at this time because it meets all my needs COMPLETELY! The portal is super easy to use. The emails for payday are adorable and exciting. I didn't know I would love knowing how many cans of silly string I could buy with my paycheck would ever be so exciting. Requesting and approving time off are simple and very clear. Pay stubs are broken down and easily check-able for mistakes Cons We ran into a few issues with insurance, the money wasn't removed one month and the whole company got worried they were no longer covered. I have used it to get on boarded to the company by filling my I-94 and choosing health plans and all of that was very easy. I have never had any problem with any of my paychecks. Once I contacted the customer care on chat for my enrollment in medical health plan and he was able to answer all my questions.
