I am not a payroll expert, nor do I care to be one. Gusto has kept this part of owning a business just ridiculously simple and easy to use. Plus, their support is fantastic. Pros The product is very easy to use. It is streamlined and great for a payroll novice such as myself. Great for beginners with no previous payroll experience. Cons I cannot think of anything that I don't like. I have never used another payroll service with my own company. I have used this for more than 4 years and have no reason to switch. No hour long waits on the phone to a call center. Real people in the USA. Pros is a no nonsense payroll program! Easy to use. User-friendly. Customer service is second to none. The reporting is easy to understand, even for newbies to payroll. And they make it fun! Little characters and nuances on the website add a little brightness to a dull task. Cons Nothing. This has proven to be the best product for us. June 5, 2018 5.0 I can easily track my payments, my contributions, and my benefits. The website is very easy to navigate and well laid out. Pros The interface is very simple, and all the functionality is right there to use within one or two clicks. I also use the automatic donation feature, and I am very happy that takes care of the tax implications automatically. Cons It is incredibly difficult to find something I strongly dislike about this software. The site is well designed, the functionality seems complete, and I have not experienced any bugs. But once I tried to add remote workers, an HRA, different leave schemes and new states with their workers' compensation partner, they just don't help. You will need to do challenging workarounds for anything that is not completely standard with them. Pros It is pretty. Some aspects of it are easy to use. It integrates (kind of) to Xero Cons Very limited choices for benefits offerings. Does not support remote employees well. Only one person can talk to them. Do not assist with issues with their integrated partners. Provide glib, mostly useless support. Pros is perfect for startups and small businesses. It's reasonably priced. It can scale up with your business. As Gusto grows, the suite of related functions continues to grow (time tracking, benefits, etc). Cons They are starting to do obnoxious things - for example, they will automatically handle health insurance withholdings only if you use (or Gusto's partner company) as your health insurance broker. They are trying to eliminate any friction in their service - but it sucks for companies who have been with Gusto for a long time, and Gusto refuses to automate withholdings for any other health insurance coverage. I don't know how it compares to competitors, so I can't say it's better or worse. Pros is a service that takes care of payment and related HR issues for small businesses. It's a good service and does what it should. Cons I used on the payee end, and I felt it left a lot to be desired. As an independent contractor, payments aren't as regular as they would be for an employee. And it would be great if I could see that there was a payment in process for me. That's not something Gusto does. They will only notify you of payment when it's being sent to your account. They are able to print them off and save a PDF if they need the paystub. Prior to this our staff would lose them and would have to wait on the finance manager. Sometimes they would have to wait a couple days because our finance manager is a part time employee. This makes it much easier on the staff! Cons I am not sure about the wallet. I have my own bank account with a savings account and when I signed up I received offers to set this up. I also received emails about setting this up. September 30, 2022 5.0 they have been fine for our payroll, and we like their onboarding process. Pros makes managing payroll and onboarding new contractors and employees incredibly simple. Cons The service is generally subpar when complications emerge, particularly those involving state tax filings. For instance, informed me that they would not be able to check into a letter I received from the state that required a response regarding a tax issue within seven days. Pros I personally love being a user of . I have had zero problems in my time being a user of Gusto and that is one of my biggest pro's of this software. Dealing with payment softwares can create stress around the validity or reliability of your payment. Gusto is on time and always reliable. It has great automated messages to communicate business transactions. It also has great readability and usability. The software is easy to administer and understand off the bat avoiding wasted time and confusion. Cons In my time being a user of I personally have had zero negative experiences using it. I researched and considered many different companies, from enterprise to boutique and Gusto seemed the right-sized option. I believe it was still called Zen Payroll when we started. We also were using Zenefits at the time, but now Gusto had rendered Zenefits moot for us, as a small agency. It handles PTO easily. Migrating over from our legacy payroll system was fairly painless as well because it allowed us to enter in historical payments. It's just very easy to use and if you're a small company without a formal HR department, it's really valuable. It autogenerates the W2s and 1099s at the end of the year. Pros Highly intuitive, fully featured, easy to use Cons Reporting could be a bit more granular, especially reporting on contractors. Sometimes support is not as responsive as one may like. It only takes me a few minutes to run payroll each time. Pros I love . It makes running payroll super easy. They submit the necessary reports to the state and automatically calculates the taxes to take out. It's super affordable compared to a payroll service or accountant. Cons I honestly can't think of much that could be improved.
