April 11, 2019 5.0 Gusto hasn't presented any problems yet, so we would heartily recommend it to anyone looking to start paying by direct deposit. Pros We started using Gusto to accommodate those in our company who prefer direct deposit over paper checks, and the transition has been quick and smooth. Gusto's support team has been quick to answer any questions we might have, and all of our employees have received their checks without issue. We also appreciate how it keeps track of all the vital information that comes with payment. Gusto lets you pay with gusto! Cons We would prefer a flat fee over a "pay-per-employee" model, but we understand that this is the norm in the industry. There were some small technical issues with the product that caused us some headaches, but in the end -- we love Gusto. There were lots of mistakes made with the old companies that are still being taken care of months and months later. With Gusto the switch was painless even though it was mid-year, and whenever we find we did a mistake or something is not looking right, we reach out to Gusto customer service and it's being resolved immediately. The process to fix an employees W-2 took about 5 minutes with the help of a representative in a chat. The software does EVERYTHING for you, you don't need to calculate, check laws, etc. Previously we had to also use Docusign for on boarding of new team members, not the on-boarding takes a few clicks and then Gusto does everything for you automatically. We saved so much time, energy and nerves with Gusto. Cons Once the website was glitchy and I couldn't enter employees PTO. No other cons I can think of. Maybe the customer support was a little slow at some point via email, but if you have something that can't wait they are always reachable by chat or phone. Their app and site are so great and makes all benefit management super easy. Pros The UX is young and fresh, unlike most HR systems out there. It's super user friendly, their customer support is great and Gusto finds ways to make things fun and informative Cons As companies grow, they may need a more robust system but for small companies up to 50 employees, I think Gusto does a fantastic job of covering all the bases! Pros We no longer use this software, but when we were using Gusto, it was really a breeze to stay compliant and allow employees to access their information as well! One of my favorite payroll processing businesses because of their simple interface and onboarding procedure! Pros I've never seen a Payroll system with a better user interface. Given the benefits, the pricing is reasonable, but the ease of implementation is what really leaps out to me. I've never put up a payroll system in such a short period of time. Cons I'm not sure what happens when your company grows to a certain size; I've never managed this aspect of the process at a huge company, although I'm not sure how effective it will be. It was nice that it went right into my checking account, too, saving me the step of having to make that transfer myself because the money went into another company's account balance instead. Pros It was reliable, never had any issues receiving payments, and payments went directly into my checking account with no fees or extra charges. As a small business, it makes it simple and fun to run payroll. Employee set-up and on-boarding only takes minutes. You can set up benefits and vacation policy. Employees get notifications and emails of payroll deposits. W-2 report is seamless as well quarterly tax payments. We can even pay our contractors within the system in just a few seconds. The help feature is great and customer service is already ready to answers questions in just minutes. Cons Nothing. I honestly can't think of any negatives. The only initial drawback was not being able to pay the owners through the system, but Gusto took care of this without us even asking. Pros I have used this software as an external user who was asked to complete an application. It was easy enough to use the first time. Cons I don't believe the software is pushing us, as an external user, to update our initial application which might mean outdated information in someone's database. Has never been late on a paycheck. Pros It is nice to keep all of your paystubs electronically in one place. The paystub breaks down your various dollar amounts (what is reimbursement, how much money your earned per hour for X hours, different taxes for current and total paychecks, etc). It is very easy to read and navigate. I like that it sends you emails when you get paid instead of just direct depositing it, and you have to remember to go look to make sure it is there. I can split where I want the deposit to go by percentage or dollar amount all from Gusto. It is very easy to control my paycheck without having to go through HR. \*My opinions are my own and in no way reflect my employer or company. Cons It is somewhat basic. You can view/print your paystubs and that's about it.
