I’ve hired an accountant to walk me through my business numbers, my taxes, and handle things face to face. Offering zoom meetings for face to face interactions to answer questions could be something new business owners would love if it’s not offered already. Pros I was looking for something that was sleek, modern, and accessible to employees. It was great for the employees to look at their payroll history Cons I don’t understand taxes. I would suggest a knowledge base in which explains things differently vs just referring people outward. Keeping customers also means an easy to use education based system. Maybe launching a free basic accounting platform would be great for new business owners Reason for choosing Gusto At the time it was the automation. However- I have gone with quick books as my accountant uses their program. June 5, 2018 5.0 Biggest benefit: Being able to correctly and easily run our payroll so we are compliant with all laws! Pros I really like how Gusto is extremely easy to use, on both employee and employer sides. From the employer perspective, it is only a couple steps to get a new employee or contractor up and running. And Gusto handles all the paperwork which is fantastic! Cons There really isn't anything that I don't like about Gusto. It is extremely easy intuitive and painless to use! February 18, 2019 4.0 Pros Gusto's payroll portal is a wonderful solution for the payroll issues that have been occurring in my small business. Gusto's makes payroll extremely easy to do and manage. Employees can keep their information up to date and the information is readily available. Gusto's customer support is also extremely helpful and solved a lot of our issues that were due to our negligence. Cons I have not found any issues regarding Gusto and it's software. Cons I wish they would have been more upfront concerning the percentage of my payroll donation to a nonprofit that was being removed for "fees and services." My small donation is even smaller than I had first thought because something like 10% is being removed. That seems too much, in my opinion, and i wish that would have been made more clear. I've enjoyed being a user of their software at two different companies. I also hear great things about the company culture and values, and I see that across LinkedIn and reviews of working there. Pros Very easy to use, sends quick and clear updates, spectacular UI, and a company I even wanted to work for. Cons Enterprise scalability: it has a very small team feel. They see every issue through as if you're the most important or the only client. They're thorough and they tolerate you if you're on a learning curve (we're an Australian business setting up our US operations and health etc benefits is a new and unnatural thing for a business to grapple with). The software is flawless and usability is perfect. We run our payroll in a few clicks, and that's because we don't choose autopilot. Used to run benefits thru Zenefits who made a lot of errors, and zenpayroll stepped in without hesitation or complaint and ran every correction. It's complete, not half cooked. It's how software and support should be done. Cons We are a global business, and things are done differently in other countries for payroll. For instance, we don't need to go thru the pain and inefficiently of supporting benefits in other countries. Plus there is different legislation and tax setups etc. I wish zenpayroll was configured to support payroll in other countries so companies like ours growing elsewhere could benefit from One-payroll without considering the bigger and clunkier vendors. If you're growing, most likely you're growing globally or planning to. Otherwise it's perfect. Pros Gusto is very efficient in terms of payroll management system. Direct deposition, it's not expensive(good money value) and it's easy to use. Cons So far, the features are nice and easy to use. November 13, 2018 3.0 Pros I like the automatic alerts via email, the graphics are easy to digest and the ePaystubs are a great feature. There is also a breakdown of the deductions which makes it much easier to sort through. I can also print all my paystubs easily and the user-friendly website helps to quickly locate my favorite areas. The emails are quite attractive and well designed. Cons Their custom support doesn't operate on the weekend, which is a bummer. Pros easy to implement, the new hire onboarding is pretty amazing and simple. Online payments of payroll, taxes, and workmans compensation all in one place. Cons Qualifying for certain monetary amounts for payroll and being limited to that amount until we request a higher amount. Customer service is great, however many times the online chat isn't available. I've never had a negative experience with Gusto. Obtaining paystubs, tax information, payroll history, etc...all easy to do. Automated emails when you're paid are also nice. Gusto has helped us catch a few HR mistakes our team made before a paycheck was written. Cons For what we use it for, it is a great tool. I do not have any complaints about Gusto at this point in time that we're using it. I will say, though, it is odd that there are social media "sharing" links hooked to the paycheck emails. Why would I want to share on Facebook how many Taylor Swift CDs I can buy with my paycheck? Seems a little odd. Review Source TT Teria T. Pros Gusto was recently introduced to our company for payroll and I love it. The setup was easy, the time clock is efficient, you can see your upcoming payday, time off requests, and even check your tax withholdings. Cons It is difficult to find certain things such as time-off requests. There is a section to request time off but once it is approved, it is difficult to locate the dates. Gusto was evaluated and we decided to use it. Pros Gusto is really simple. They've taken a lot of guess work out of setting up employees/contractors. I'm pretty impressed with just how simple it is. And it's reasonably priced. Cons The only part that I had confusion on is how they deal with contractors and issuing 1099s. Some contractors (incorporated) may not need to receive a 1099. So, I'm not sure how this works as I didn't see where you could toggle the 1099 off. Maybe it's changed since I last used it? Review Source SC Stephen C. The automated payroll feature is very handy for teams that do not have time to run payroll. Overall, if your company is around 50-80 people and does not operate internationally this is a great product to get started. Once you hit around 100-200 employees, your company has likely outgrown Gusto's functions and features. Pros Ease of use and a neat user interface. Automated Payroll is also very useful for small People teams. Cons Unable to manage and administer benefits at all. The time line to implement this system was very tight and the service that I received in doing so was unparalleled. Customer service folks were able to walk me through every step of the way and I greatly appreciated the assist going through such a big change! Cons It would be nice if when I had a question the email response turnaround time was much quicker. Reason for choosing Gusto Price, ease of use, and most of all, easy integration with Aplos. We've got a couple of "categories" of staff, from hourly with tips, without tips, full-timers and contractors, and Gusto makes them all easy to manage without any issues. Cons Not really sure there is a drawback. It's great payroll software for a small company like ours.
