I started at a company that uses Gusto. Was super easy to get set up, fill out required documents and was easy to view benefits, paystubs and tax information. Nice to have a modern, easy to use app for HR/Accounting for once! Cons The default shows your paycheck amount in an email. It's nice to get an email on payday, but can be a little weird when you open the email and BAM! your amount is right there on the screen for folks sitting near you to see. There is a setting to turn this off, just wish it would default to off. July 24, 2018 5.0 Pros I like the automation of the service. I receive an email that I have been paid and can see that it was automatically deposited in my account. In the email, I can click to view my pay stubs as well. I really appreciate that. Cons I am on the receiving end of using Gusto, so there isn't much that I can complain about. There may be some things on the admin side, but as a receiver of the service, it is good. Pros It has a short processing time and sends email reminders and confirmations Cons This software seems if as if it was written by a programmer trying to show off... very complicated and not user friendly. Ie. you cannot change any employee pay (compensation) if you find something incorrect while you are processing. it will only be changed the NEXT pay cycle. so if some ones pay is incorrect (got a raise etc, that wasn't entered earlier but was caught at time of process ) they will not see that change for 3 weeks on a two week cycle. Also Gust is the ONLY software i am aware of that REVERSES the payee and amount lines on checks so you cannot print payroll checks on the standard printer checks and have to order their specific checks.. Reporting is difficult and not intuitive. Quickbooks payroll was much better. Pros Great customer service- they really stood out among their competitors. I also like that they cater towards online businesses and are very online-friendly; everything can be done online. Their accountant referral program is good too. Cons I struggled a little bit with setting up payroll for employees outside of the USA, but was able to eventually get it figured out with support. The integration with Xero has a few flaws. The UI is clean and the site is so simple to navigate with no learning curve. It's easy to request time off, and my boss is able to identify paid holidays from his end which takes out guesswork. The calendar feature is also very helpful Pros Fantastic interface, I was able to maneuver and learn the features very quickly on my first day. Simplified without too many tabs and clunky features, clean UI Cons I don't really have any cons so far. The only think I can think of is the ability to request days off even if it's listed as a holiday, since my employer has erroneously marked a non-paid day as a holiday. December 7, 2020 5.0 It has been great. i have been using them for several years. Even changed to another payroll company to get additional HR support which turned out to be a disaster and came back to Gusto. Pros Gusto has been so helpful for my small business, from helping with payroll issues to now rolling out benefits for staff. Cons Nothing. I like everything about Gusto at this time. They are quick to respond and help with any problems or concerns that come up. I am able to see my hours, my upcoming paychecks, and how my income is divided by tax. Pros Gusto is user friendly and keeps all your paystub and tax info ready for you to use when you need it. They have recently made improvements to their program. Our team gets updates when they are paid and when their W2 documents are ready. Cons No cons with this software. Made it easier to quickly learn about the basics in american labor law. Pros The fact that it was pretty easy to use. I was dealing with HR for an american company (from France), and being not so familiar with american labor law, Gusto helped me for that. We have used it to send an offer letter to a new hire, our employees are already using it for time off requests, we have built an employee handbook using it, and we have asked HR related questions and received useful, timely answers. If you are a small business and you don't have an HR department, consider Gusto. We are only just starting to use the vault for documents but it seems like the more we use Gusto the more effecient we feel. Cons Nothing! So far, for the price, Gusto is great. Our clients who use it haven't requested to switch from it or had any complaints. It would be great if more platforms were this easy! Pros Gusto is user-friendly from both the payroll side and the client side. It provides seamless payroll for the company and provides timely and easy tasks for the employees/contractors to complete. The access to the account 24/7 is great! It also integrates well with Quickbooks for downloading payroll info to the desktop version. Cons I don't have anything that I don't like about Gusto. We started with less then seven (7) employees and have grown with it. It files all the necessary quarterly and annual reports but at a fraction of the cost of other services. Cons The time tracking portion could be more robust. I wish it was mandatory for an employee to punch in and if they did not do it the manager or administrator would be required to make changes. Employees are able to punch in after the fact and just add a note like "I forgot". By the time they do it is is possible that the real time they arrived or departed is off. Review Source SW Sean W. I love how as admin I can toggle between the different locations and separate the employee information without having to search companywide. Pros Gusto provides lots of templates and helps guide you through all your needs. It has limited functionality so it's not complicated and doesn't need a devoted IT or HR team working in the background all the time. It keeps this simple and you're able to run payroll integrated in the system. This is perfect as an HRIS system that gets the job done without taking weeks and months worrying about training. It's super easy to use and follow the tabs and employees can find most everything they need in one place without searching too hard. Cons Most things you need to do, have to be done manually. That said, there may be a certain point where your team is too big or the information you need, you cannot get from it. There's limited profile information, EEO data, data insights/analytics, inability to sign special documents, no engagement platform, no LMS platform, no onboarding or offboarding accountability list etc. My biggest frustration is inability to sign documents. I still have to use Docusign then upload the documentation into the individual profiles instead of kicking it off directly during onboarding. You call and just sit on hold and then it hangs up on you. Pros This is an obnoxious product. Anything you want to do requires clicking through 500 different pages. It NEVER stops emailing you. It emails personal company information to employees (you cannot turn this feature off), it's expensive. I will be dropping this product ASAP. Cons Everything . It constantly emails you unimportant information, emails private company information to employees, I absolutely cannot stand this software. Pros Gusto is incredibly easy to use. I cannot rave enough about how straightforward every stop of the process is, how they handle employee onboarding, and how everything seems intuitive. We had an issue with our most recent employee using the wrong bank account - they helped resolve the issue efficiently. Our employees also love the "fun facts" and how simple it is for them to use and see their pay stubs. Cons We really don't have any complaints about Gusto, I've done price checks and know we could probably save some money using a different company but we have been very happy and couldn't imagine "saving" money just to have a headache with someone else. Pros Aside how aesthetically pleasing Gusto is, this is by far the best payroll I've ever used. Mobile accessibility, reliability, and simple to use. Pros Gusto is a huge win simply because the software offers a low price alternative to HR solutions. Similar software with the same functions is offered at a much higher price than Gusto. Gusto can handle so much automated day to day taxes and payroll processes. Cons The biggest con that I've faced when using this software is the customer support.
