October 24, 2018 5.0 As a small business, having solutions like Gusto are so important. Payroll options we've used in the past have been clunky and difficult to use, and have been more expensive. Our staff is pleased, and management is pleased with how easy it is for everyone to get paid and have access to their information at any time. Pros Gusto is super easy to use. Very intuitive program, both on the admin side, and on the user side. We love how easy it is for our employees to choose and set up their charitable contributions, direct deposits (including split deposits), and to be able to view pay stubs and year end documents. We also have the opportunity to send out employee happiness surveys, that help us make sure we're moving in the right direction. Cons There is nothing about Gusto that I can complain about. Another useful feature is the auto-sending of tax documents to the IRS for easy reporting. Cons As a small business owner, I only have independent contractors and not W-2 employees. I signed up for a subscription and could not figure out how to change the status of my employees to contractors. After a few days of failing, I called Gusto only to find out that they require at least one W-2 employee in order for me to add my contractors. I really appreciate the intuitive nature of the platform, how everything is clearly labeled and easy to find. The platform easily directs me to the HSA benefits card platform and 401k benefits platforms when I want to check or make any adjustments to either of those benefits. Cons The PTO accruals is less intuitive. I wished that as PTO was approved that the system would remove it from my available PTO and not show both. It also seems like the accruals have been difficult for our HR administrator to update when there are inconsistencies and I have to keep track of my own PTO accruals for accuracy. Integrates perfectly into Xero and QBO (which is what our team uses) without any sync breaks/issues. Very user friendly and has everything to fit your HR needs. Cons The ONLY problem I have with Gusto is that you can only select so many accounts to map your employer liabilities to. I've had to work around this due to meeting client's needs/preferences. This is one of the best values out there! Pros Easy. Easy. Easy...their on boarding specialist made it painless and their price is hard to beat. PLUS they handle all of the taxes...a no brainer! The cost-effective tool has made us switch to Gusto. Pros Automation is the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear about Gusto. Their employee communication and self-onboarding features are the most likable feature for me, simply because of their speed and reliability. Cons Although the software has met my expectations, I would very much like it if the interface is made much friendlier and the customer service is upgraded to a more quick server. June 19, 2018 5.0 Reduced paperwork, greater efficiency, more transparency, and better reports Pros The software is extremely user friendly. I run a small non-profit, and the online onboarding process for new employees has reduced my paperwork significantly. Employees can access their own accounts and make changes when needed. The reporting features work well and give me all of the information I need. Cons While the fees for processing payroll through Gusto are very competitive with other vendors, my organization could use a reduced pricing structure specifically for non-profits or based on size. Their customer service is fantastic and always call back if they need time to look up answers. Pros Very easy to use both as a user and as an administrator Clean graphical user interface Cons Customer service is very kind but don't always have the answer, however theyes tend to respond with the information quickly. Onboarding new team members couldn't be easier, and the email communication is very well done with good desgin and even some humor. Gusto handles evrery part of our payroll including all tax paperwork (not just month to month but year-end as well). The amount of time we save with Gusto is difficult to calculate, but it's substantial. As a business owner without an accounting background it's good to have a platform I can count on to handle this important part of my business. My employees also enjoy working within the Gusto platform. Pros The absolute best thing is the fact that Gusto handles everything when it comes to payroll. I don't have to deal with the state, tax forms, workers comp percentages, or anything hard like that. I just add employees, setup their pay rate, and Gusto literally does everything else. It saves me a massive amount of time each month. Cons The only issue we have had is that there is not a way to convert a contractor to a full time employee without deleting / firing the employee in the system and rehiring them as a full time employee. That's a minor hassle and makes paperwork a little tricky, but other than that, we've had no issues. Review Source jS jessi S. Cons I would say the thing i liked the LEAST about this product was what times you could see your paystubs. If they were available earlier, it would have been better.
