Pros Very inexpensive with all the needed key features to take care of basic small business needs for running payroll for employees and contractors. Cons Support can be a little difficult to reach / get assistance from. Took a few days for my response to come after attempting chat and having to wait a while. Would be great to have phone assistance or a more responsive chat channel. The document generation tool could also be improved from a functionality standpoint to be more useful. Pros Gusto is very, very basic in the best way possible. The user experience is natural and intuitive which never leaves me guessing. Reporting is thorough and easy to lay out. The onboarding process for new hires is an underrated feature. Cons I can't think of anything off the top of my head honestly. The application does what it's supposed to do seamlessly, it allows massive time savings. It's intuitive and super friendly. By far the best and simplest payroll software I've used. Cons I understand the need for it, but it's a little annoying that my boss is notified every time I change my banking information. I like to split my paycheck different ways for different things (a little extra savings this month, a little extra somewhere else next month), and my boss gets an email saying that I updated my information. Every time. April 12, 2018 5.0 Pros I get emails straight to my phone every week when my paycheck is deposited, along with fun facts and the option to save or give a portion of my paychecks! I can request time off easily, track my PTO, and even receive approvals and messages from my boss if my time off has been accepted. All of my important work documents are stored in one place online to access within minutes if I need them, and I can edit/change any important tax information in a few clicks. I always know where to get my tax forms during tax season and get email reminders from Gusto when they're ready! Cons Honestly, I can't think of any cons. Working for a small startup company without an HR department, Gusto has been an incredible and essential work resource for me! Unfortunately based on cost our organisation chose another product. The Gusto system has a modern and sleek design. It is easy to use and time off requests etc were easy to make and manage. Time tracking works well for staff working flexitime however our staff are now on fixed hours so there was no requirement for this feature. I strongly recommend this service. Pros Most of my employers prefer using this service for paying their employees. I personally prefer getting paid through Gusto as it is very easy to keep track of your benefits and your pay stubs. Cons I couldn't think of anything that bothered me the most about this service. " October 19, 2020 5.0 Pros What I love most about this software is that they make it so easy and simple for any business owner to be able to get their payroll done in a quick, efficient, and user-friendly way. they really are good as well at making sure a company does all of the proper paperwork and is set up accordingly to meet the rules and regulations for their state. i love how their customer service is also so helpful as well! Cons i wish their customer service was always available at any time, especially for those late night questions because it is can be a long day and then you go to call but no one is there to answer and they are closed. I loved how easy it was to access all of your paystubs, tax forms or change your bank account just by logging into a website. For the most part this software is super easy to use and learn. Cons Sometimes trying to find certain reports was frustrating- only to find out they do not exist or might be named something different! But customer service was amazing trying to help us find information when we needed certain facts or figures, sometimes it just took a couple tries to get what you need. Pros Once everything is set up correctly, the software pretty much handles everything automatically which has saved me a lot of time! Cons When things aren't straight forward, it can get a little tricky. For instance, switching an individual from employee to contractor status or altering payments. Its UI is neat and friendly. Keeps complete employee records and lets you maintain ordinary payroll and contractors separate. Gives excellent and detailed reports. As a small startup we don't have a lot of resources to handle payroll and hr, and using gusto made things much easier. Getting started with the software was self-explanatory, and they had good tips for how to set up the proper registrations in each state where we have employees. They send helpful but not obnoxious emails to keep you on track with payroll, and file all of your payroll taxes for you so you don't have to. Definitely recommend over trying to do anything yourself without the expertise. Cons There's a lot of paperwork to set up at the beginning. Not sure that that's the software's fault or just the fault of doing payroll. I had to call a number of the state's tax departments manually to make sure that everything was filed and set up properly. Not only it's cost effective than ADP, it's built intuitively for HR professionals. It doesn't seem like they have acquired many different companies for different parts of the software like ADP has done.
