ZenPayroll handles it all with stride. I, in turn; have more time to do productive work - that I'm actually efficient at and don't mind doing. Pros What stands out to me is the way they handle notifications, and getting things done. For example - I'll get an email that says, "hey there, it's time to file these forms, but don't worry - we've already taken care of it for you ..." Cons Lately, they've been a bit pushy with promoting their service - although, I suppose I can't knock them for trying ... and they are a pretty exceptional service (hence this review and a few others I've filled out today). Cons Some of the documentation and FAQs leave a lot to be desired. Their chat feature is also hit and miss. I always appreciated that Gusto gave an easy breakdown of my paycheck and funds were available on time. Cons I was only a user of the software and not an admin, so I did not have any quarrels with the program. Pros \- The interface is clean, making it easy to find what you are looking for - Everything I needed when I onboarded with my company was readily available within the platform - The payday emails that were automatically sent out were really helpful in showing the breakdown of what percentage of my income was going into taxes, charity, etc. Cons \- The counting system for time-off is super weird! Our head of HR could never easily figure out how to add in time off that we banked during certain holidays. After a certain point, I just started keeping track of vacation/sick days in a separate excel sheet. It saves a lot of time not having to track people down. Cons They will not let you pay yourself unless you operate payroll. This is very frustrating. There are more features than we utilize, but works great for what we need. Cons We haven't figured out how to import our timecards from our scheduling software, that would save some time. It stores all of your work information in one spot, so if you need to revisit your W2, check on a payment, view your detailed pay stub... it's all in one place. It even keeps track of documents that you've signed and verified at work. Cons It would be cool if it would tell me when I would be getting paid. Pros It's easy to use, regardless of your accounting background (or lack thereof). Cons Nothing. We moved away from Gusto at one point and after a year switched back because it was so robust and simple. I think the only hiccup is that payroll tends to be run many days before it's due, whereas other software options have you run payroll one or two days in advance. This just means you need to prepare more and have the funds where you need them at the appropriate time. Review Source MS Michelle S. Price verses what they provide you cannot beat. Pros Best price out there for a payroll service, plus they actually file everything for you. Verses others that will just remind you that you need to file. They hold and pay your payroll taxes for you. Cons The fact it takes a bit of time for direct deposits to hit someone’s account. Pros Software is easy to use, competitively priced, and customer support is top-notch. There are fantastic guides to resolving issues that can affect payroll. Cons I don't have any complaints about Gusto. Anytime I ran into an issue, I was able to easily contact customer support and quickly resolve it. Alternatives considered [QuickBooks Payroll](https://www.capterra.com/p/174981/QuickBooks/) Reason for choosing Gusto Gusto was a better standalone product that does one thing and does it well. We wanted a payroll system that would fit into our budget, be easy to use, and work without issue, since you can't make mistakes with payroll. Other than the Con I mentioned, this has been a great experience for us, and why we've been clients since 2014 (five years). While Gusto offers an increasing number of ancillary services (e.g., benefits management, consulting with an HR professional), we're a customer for their excellent payroll service. Pros There are two aspects that have kept us as clients. First, the pricing for our small staff is very reasonable. Second, our ability to interact with the system is very good: we can understand what to do without training nor repeated referencing to their Help system. Cons Churches have special rules (per the IRS) regarding how ministers may be compensated, and Gusto is not sufficiently up-to-speed on these rules, although they've gotten a bit better. I love it! Pros Gusto have been our preferred choice in payroll management for year. we use across the entire organization in paying our employees. What i like most about it is that it has a friendly user interface and also allows us to see every pay check report. It also allows us to easily access documents required for taxation purpose. Gusto makes it so easy to setup new companies and new employees. They also have useful treats for employees such as the Welcome Card (for brand new employees) that are signed by their new co-workers before they arrive to the company. Cons Sometimes there are glitches in the software when loading reports, inputting new information, or moving to the next screen. Usually these are resolved within a few hours though, Gusto is very quick to respond to service requests. Review Source LJ Lloyd J. Too time consuming, too difficult to setup. I am a founder with a team focused on a product, doing HR work is annoying and time consuming. The other companies I mentioned eariler are too old and not innovating. Gusto was easy to setup, they handle almost 90% of the tasks, they prepare everything for me, and their customer service is great. Cons No much I dont like. Perhaps if they offered a lower pricing for large groups of employees. Pros I loved the onboarding from the user's perspective. It is very easy to add your information and get paid by your client. The best feature is the "Hooray you got Paid today" email that goes out to all our employees. They love it and it is always a pump up for them. The payroll features are easy and awesome. Definitely the best payroll tool I have used. Cons Sometimes it is really hard to work with a couple states and it would be nice to have more service support for those. Their health insurance and benefits options are weak and not as competitive as other services. What it may lack in features, it more than makes up for in simplicity. Pros Gusto makes inputting hours a breeze! Their timecard functionality is unparalleled in simplicity and effectiveness. Since they use two-factor authentication my information is always safe and secure. Cons While Gusto has a mobile app, I find their website to have everything I need. Thus making the mobile app irrelevant. It doesn't have any options to track an employee's location to ensure accurate clock-in and clock-out times.
