Principal Insurance Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Payroll for a one-man S Corp" March 30, 2021 4.0 I'm a single member S Corp who uses Gusto to handle payroll, even though I'm the only employee. For that purposes, it works very well. I had the help of a CPA in setting it up but once it's running you really don't have to think about it too much. Gusto handles withholdings and other administrative issues like that and simply direct deposits my payroll for me so i don't have to do it manually. For that purpose it's great. Pros It takes care of administrative work related to withholdings and processing a payroll and any other regulatory requirements. Cons I don't need or use many of the features of Gusto beyond basic payroll, so I can't really speak to it beyond that, but I have no complaints. Review Source BN Beki N. It has a cute and fun user interface with fun graphics. Reports are quick to generate. Cons Gusto requires that they figure and complete the tax returns and send them on your behalf. Love it!" September 11, 2018 5.0 Pros Gusto is an awesome time saver. We are a small business that uses Gusto for automation of employee/client onboarding, payroll automation, and payroll tax filing. I love the automated features of payroll where you set the payroll on auto and know that on a certain day of the month monies will be deducted and paid to employees. Moreover, any issues I've had, customer support has been right on top of taking care of them. Especially during the early days where we were still getting use to some of the features of transferring from our old payroll system, customer support was extremely helpful in the setup. We've already recommended Gusto to others and will continue to do so. Cons The software can use some additional feature integrations with 401K and other HR related benefits. That would be nice to have or if you do training on how to utilize those benefits. It de-complicates accounting, payroll, HR services. In addition you can only use what you need. Cons If a service doesn't show for an employee like "Expenses" you have to turn it on. I think it would help to show to everyone, but if it's not available - have it say "contact your administrator". Otherwise, this is a no-brainer - I don't have any dislikes. Review Source JG Jake G. Pros We are a small engineering consulting firm and Gusto has worked great for payroll, payroll tax return filing, employee onboarding, and more. We are very happy with choosing Gusto and their customer service has been top-notch. Cons The only con is that they made a mistake on one of our California payroll tax filings a year ago, and it was a bit stressful when the state said we owed much more than we should have. In the end, Gusto worked hard and took care of the mistake, so the con turned into more of a pro. I like that at set up it displays a list of the stages that require completing. Everything is simple and straight forward. I can automate my payroll and receive notification prompts before each payroll is run in the event that adjustments are needed. February 6, 2018 3.0 Not once have I ever received one friendly call from gusto to remind me or update me or adjust my account or anything personal at all they are totally missing this important part of business. Pros The idea is good and convenient. It is software that you rent and has a call center with a 10-15 minute wait time. If that's sufficient for You, that's all it is. Software that you rent, not buy, and humans who never get in touch with you not once in two and half years. Pros Gusto is a great payroll tool that is more than just a payroll tool. It includes both general resource management and benefits administration capabilities. It has helped us as a small business automate our processes and give our employees options like updating their information directly, make charitable contributions directly from their paycheck to the charity of their choice, etc. Cons I would like to see it directly integrate with Quickbooks to make our process even more streamlined. Pros It is very straightforward for our small business clients to use and it takes the stress out of remembering filing deadlines and state requirements. Cons It does have some limitations that you might find capable in your more traditional payroll services, but it is a great value for the right business.
