Pros It's user friendly and easy to install. Quality UI that is cost-effective. It has a lot of self serviced functionalities. HR benefits can be tracked with ease. It has a simple process for employees on-boarding. It saves time and also have an effective customers support chat system. Cons Very tough to use by experienced payroll managers. It reminds me each month to run payroll so I get paid myself on time. =) Pros For me, setting up payroll to pay myself from the business was ONE thing I did not want to do. I didn't want to do all the calculations for what needed to be deducted for taxes, and filing the quarterly stuff. I just didn't want to do it. Gusto made it so simple. And when I switched bank accounts, it was COMPLETELy seamless. Cons There were a few things that took me a while to figure out in regards to figuring out the right deductions. and having the right paperwork submitted in order to get this done. Alternatives considered [QuickBooks Online](https://www.capterra.com/p/190778/QuickBooks-Online/) Reason for choosing Gusto I felt like I already had a system with my own CRM in order to track my income & expenses. That I didn't want to have something that doubled it. So Gusto made more sense for me. They also provide email alerts when tax changes communicated by state and local governments affect the payroll and automatically make adjustments for me. Pros Extremely easy to use for small business payroll and takes practically no time at all to file and process payroll. Cons Until they provided more alerts and warnings on the last day to process payroll to have it included in a calendar, I had a challenge of having payroll spill over into the next year. It seems that my suggestions were heard and with helpful email reminders and alerts, my concerns/surprises about payroll not being applied in the expected quarter/year is no longer an issue. Lets me set up vacation,time off and sick policies that Gusto will then track. Files all the reports and has good reports. Support is responsive you get to actually talk to people. Cons I really can't think of any issue I have with Gusto! Switched from [Square Payroll](https://www.capterra.com/p/170266/Square-Payroll/) Square was early in their rollout to California. There support was terrible if not existent. Never actually talked to a person they wanted to do everything by email. I had a time sensitive issue and they did not respond forcing me to look for an alternative and I've so glad I found Gusto. Review Source II Isaac I. Pros I love the emails I receive when I get paid. They are full of energy and whit. It makes payday even more enjoyable! Cons I wish this platform was a one stop shop that encompassed all my benefits. Getting to all my information as an employee is easy. Paystubs, Benefits, Time Tracking, PTO requests and info, Personal info update. As a manager, it makes it easy to see my team's time, PTO requests and approve their time cards. Pros I like it's modern design, that it's mobile-friendly. It's easy to get to the things I need and finding things is simple. Cons I have not ran into any cons so far while using this software both as an employee and a manager across a year and a half of use. Review Source Tim S. Pros Gusto makes it very easy to track employee records and payments. My favorite thing about Gusto is that our employees can log in at any time to get their pay stubs, tax forms, and other items we've added. Gusto also sends great factoids based on an employee's pay that are fun. Cons Gusto lacks some integrations, but for the most part it is pretty solid. This is a software that doesn't have many cons. This is a payroll system that is so clear and easy to use. It's also interactive making it fun for the users and admin(s). I would recommend this platform for start ups and small businesses. The system literally WALKS you through adding new employees. And, as a user, you get walked through setting up accounts for direct deposits and alike. Cons I have nothing bad to say. I found this software to be so easy and while I questioned the ease as an admin at first, I grew to appreciate and obsess over the simplicity and cleanliness of setting up an employee and getting paid myself! We have achieved efficiency as the company was earlier using mostly manual processes. Pros It has all most all basic features which up small firm may need to fulfill its HR requirements. There is a free trial available even though there is no full-blown free version. Overall pricing is very reasonable especially if we consider that this tool is more suited for a small company. Cons Few features like multi-country support and payroll outsourcing is not available.these men are we are deal breakers for a small firm but for a large organization this tool may not be very apt. I would recommend this to other businesses. The web portal is well designed and solid. The features are useful. Pros We moved over to this payroll system recently from a managed service. The best part about Gusto is that I don't have to interact with a person at all. I can adjust my witholding between paychecks, which is truly impressive and useful. The vacation day functionality is great. Before I was submitting paperwork for the same thing. Cons I now get paid exactly on the 1st and 15th whereas before I would receive my deposit earlier depending on what day the weekend was. Review Source KD Katie D. Pros The software is extremely user friendly, however for non-accountants, it is easy to overlook certain things that are necessary when processing payroll. Cons The Gusto team sets up the payroll tax accounts so you do not receive access. I also like that I receive an email when I have been paid or my time off has been approved. Pros I like that I can log in and see how many hours I have available for time off or sick leave and the easy access to view my paystubs. Cons I don't really have any complaints about the software. Pros From a user's perspective I loved Gusto, although my organization no longer uses it. Easy to navigate and pay stubs were a breeze to get ahold of. The emails notifying me that I had been paid were great and provided great visibility. Cons I was not personally involved in the decision to move away from Gusto, but apparently their weak spot was when it came to scaling for a larger organization. They were not the right fit as we moved above 50 employees. From the user's perspective though I had no complaints. Review Source DS David S. With Gusto, the onboarding process for new staff is easy and never causes questions or problems with the onboarding process. Additionally, processing payroll is easy enough that any level of management can do it quickly and accurately. Cons I wish they interfaced with more point of sale or time-clock software. We have to manually enter hours, which is really easy, but it would be nice if it was all imported. Review Source Janet O.
