May 22, 2021 5.0 The best payroll software we have used and tried so far, very easy to use and it is reasonable for the price you are paying. HIGHLY recommended. Pros It is a very clean, functional, and organized software that helps both customers and workers facilitate and improve their experience, it has a bunch of essential features for a reasonable price and you can pay more for even better tools that will help improve your business exponentially. Cons I think it would be even better if the price of the new features that are only available on the most expensive plans go down since those are very useful and it is kind of expensive to unlock them. I appreciate how easy and clean it makes everything for employees and employers. Pros I use Gusto as an employee and it makes it very simple to request time off, review paychecks, and view ytd earnings. I appreciate the streamlined features and ease of use. Gusto turns something as confusing as HR and payroll and makes it super simple! Our hourly employees were able to stop using spreadsheets and start tracking hours in Gusto, much easier! Cons Sometimes the streamlined appearance means you can't always do everything you'd like to be able to do. Review Source Natasha C. They have a system to call you back rather than waiting on hold and they always called me back within 5 minutes. Very smooth online system too which was helpful for choosing benefits. I didn't feel like I was talking to a robot when the reps called me too. Couldn't recommend it enough! Cons Honestly there isn't really anything I didn't like. Pros My previous employer used gusto as a payroll service and what I liked the most was that I could login and see how much money I had made to date. Additionally, I could see how much taxes were being taken out of each paycheck which made it very easy to keep track of my earnings. Cons There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the software. It's also incredibly easy to onboard a new contractor and the contractor can provide all of their tax info directly. Pros Gusto has been amazing for my business! It has streamlined everything related to 1099s and direct deposit for my contractors and it works really well for me when I sub-contract for another agency. Cons I have a sub-contractor account and I have to have a separate Admin account for paying my sub-contractors. It would be great if they could be combined under one email. Review Source RE Ross E. I'm able to have full visibility into my paychecks and adjust things directly myself rather than going through HR or Accounting. The tool is easy to use, intuitive in design, and looks great too! Cons I haven't yet found a con to this tool, though I would suspect it wouldn't be ideal for larger corporations. I think its an out of the box, turn key solution for small and medium size businesses. Customizing may hit a limit for large organization with unique needs. Review Source Kushal S. Pros My employer uses Gusto to distribute and track payroll in our company. As a user, I find the interface very user friendly. It's easy to find the information I am looking for and it's fun to use the site. I am able to see all of my pay stubs and easily change information for taxes if needed. Cons I don't have any complaints for Gusto as a user currently. It's actually a joy to use not only because I get to see myself getting paid, but the ease of use on the website! We're a small company so it's perfect for us when we don't have gargantuan needs. Not sure how it will scale but that's for HR to figure out!! Pros It's super simple to use and the UI gets right to the point. We're all very busy people and the last thing I want to do is navigate a massive HR system. I also like the little trivia that they provide :) Cons Some features of the UX can probably be better. I get confused about where stuff lives sometimes. I think fixed prices would be better, even if it's more. Pros I can create separate payroll for our contractors that is amazing! Gusto does pretty much everything I need for payroll and even summits taxes information and calculation all I need to do is enter the correct information. Cons Not really any cons here, I would like more options for scheduling payments. It makes onboarding employees easy and retrieving your HR documents simple. Payroll in Gusto is also straightforward. Cons You can't really administer benfits through the gusto unless you use them as a broker. We ended up finding a better option on health care with a different broker so now we use another platform to administer health benefits. It sends reminders about tax forms and personal info verification every year. It thinks of all the important things so I don't have to. Really top notch product. Pros This feels like a premium product - great design, modern feel to it. Very easy to use as a payee. Getting my payment emails is fun! So much better than dealing with paper checks. Cons My only complaint is that it's easy for my boss to forget to add a note about the time period the payment covers. I wish that was a required field when sending money. Pros As a user, it felt 'personal', quirky, almost fun to log my hours. I've never felt that way about tracking my work time. Also, you get helpful, relevant alerts--such as emails when you get paid. Which is great! And 'fun' facts such as how many hamburgers (or other items) you could buy with your paycheck. Cons It's possible there is an option already, so this could be irrelevant--it would be nice to have a text reminder to log/bill for hours. Otherwise, I think the tool is great! The email function is especially helpful in summarizing the payroll for the employees. Pros The feature I enjoyed most about this software was the email-capability. For every payment, the recipients received an email with a summary of the payment. Easy and direct way for them to view their payment. Cons I wish there was more communication available in the app between employer and employees. There was some confusion about whether or not the employees had to manually enter their working hours, because Gusto encourages them to do so, when in reality the employer did that for them.
