We started using Flowlens in 2020 as a team of 9 and I am extremely happy with it. At the time, the business had grown considerably from our early years and we needed a system to match that. We had several separate online systems what were not linked and consumed far too time inputting data and manually dealing with bottlenecks between them. I had looked at a few MRP systems and I found they were lacking the full coverage of every aspect of the business, in particular stock management. This frustration was over as I received a proactive call from \[sensitive content hidden\], Flowlens \[sensitive content hidden\] who described Flowlens clearly and immediately I could see this ticked all the boxes I was looking for. \[sensitive content hidden\] and team at Flowlens aided us in implementing the system into our business. They were extremely supportive and responsive to questions and patient while I worked through phased introduction of each aspect of Flowlens into our business and transferring over from old processes. Pros Flowlens is the ‘golden thread’, covering an entire customer’s order. The main attraction was how Flowlens has a continuous flow of data from an initial customer enquiry, (linked to the enquiry form on our website), CRM, managing Sales leads, generating Sales quotes, progressing to a Sales order, Invoicing, (linked to Xero accounts) creating Production projects and Job Cards, Stock allocation and dispatch (crucially deducting exact stock of parts used on that particular Mountain Trike model). It also covers Servicing, Reporting, BOM management, supplier details, product cost data and much more! It is very User friendly and our Team have taken to it well. Cons Looking back, the only main challenge we had was the time required for setup, collating our BOM's into the format of Components lists and listing all the parts. Any system would require time to transfer from old methods and input all the data for our products. Now it is setup though, it is simple to make updates to the Components lists. Ideally I would like a more visual representation of our 'Production Plan' rather than a list of projects/job cards so technicians can quickly see details of orders without needing to open them individually. From the very start it was clear the team were passionate about their product and eager to keep developing it and to help improve British manufacturing. Onboarding was smooth and, considering we already had tens of thousands of BOMs, the data import was faultless. When it comes to ongoing development, the team really do listen to feedback. You get a clear picture of what's in the current development cycle and can see the platform improving week by week. Pros As a small manufacturing business at the cutting edge of automation technology, we needed a software suite that could handle increasingly complex multi-level BOMs, revisions and production management, all with down to the penny cost tracking. Flowlens not only manages to squeeze in a complete MRP package, but its modern, API driven approach means it can sit at the centre of complex multi-spoke systems, giving sales, manufacturing and stock a single point of truth. We can now integrate our own custom systems for a full Engineer to Order solution, with detailed oversight of every part of the business. Being able to see exactly what manufacturing stage a customer's order is at, within a few clicks, has been a real revelation for us, as has the timed tracking of job cards. Another big positive is the intuitive user interface. Staff at all skill levels found it easy to use and the whole team took to it quickly. Compared with other systems I've implemented in the past, we saw at least a 20% reduction in onboarding time. Cons The only downside at the moment, though it's already on the development roadmap, is SolidWorks integration. As we build custom machinery, being able to create BOMs and retrieve parts directly from SolidWorks would be a great addition. Document revisions, stages of pipeline process and Reports. Cons The inability to include a Title ie Professor/Doctor etc. Specific address not listed for customer displaying on quote. The length of the quote title affects the length of document, the quote name disappears and document has blank spaces and is is too long. Well supported. Listened to. Easy to work with. Pros Combined CRM/MRP system with good integration to third-party accounts package was our main driver. But the additional features have absolutely changed the way we work. The tasks feature drives collaboration and gives visibility to activity. The ease of creating BOMs and pricing means we are quoting more accurately and making more consistent margins. (That is a big one). Customised forms help us manage the rest of the business more effectively. Remote access with full functionality on all platforms, gives us massive flexibility. We use it to manage nearly every aspect of our business and for a rapidly growing organisation, the ability to have one source of data is really beneficial. Our mantra is 'If it ain't on Flowlens, it never happened!' Cons It fitted about 90% straight out of the box. There would be some nice to have features, which we have discussed with Flowlens and they are open to adding new features where thy can see universal appeal, which is great! This is game changing for us as we used to manage over 10 spreadsheets every week, often with duplicated data, for management information. Since adopting Flowlens, we have reduced the qty of spreadsheets to 2 or 3, saving almost 1 staff day a week.. Freeing up time to focus on customer facing activities Pros The software is cloud based (no client software downloads), always up to date, intuitive to use, user friendly, secure and real-time..
