I liked the screen record feature you can use with simplicity. I created two interactive games for children in preschooler age about basic English and colours, it was very easy to find how to manage the interactivity and also the support was very fast in giving me a solution when I had to create an interactive bookshelf to sell a market products using custom pictures and Paypal method and buttons. Pros I liked the extensive features you can use and the simplicity of the UI. I created two interactive games and imported my assets without any inconveniences. I exported in HTML5 the final product and it worked fine with any browsers. Cons I don't know any cons because during the use if I had a problem in a matter of time the support helped me. Cons Not really many things to mention. Maybe the only drawback is that you have free updates for the major version you buy. But honestly... I wouldn't say that this is strange! I don't need a complex or expensive program to create videos, Active Presenter does everything they do. If I have a question, the user forum usually has the answer or I post the question and usually get an answer the next day - that's unbelievable. Plus they stay up to date with their user guide and software updates. Pros I love how easy and intuitive Active Presenter is. I have used Captivate and other products and they aren't as easy. Plus Active Presenter is a fraction of their costs and has all the tools I need to create video simulations, interactive videos and just plain tutorials. I also like the ability to effortlessly import slides from PowerPoint. Great product and fabulous customer service! Cons I would like more Animations to choose from to add even more pizzazz, but it has the standard animations that PowerPoint has. Cons Hard to use javascript (at least for version 6) as no scripting references are available. This would be helpful as certain action in the interactive part are missing. e.g. a play/resume button - but support is available. I tried a few other softwares, but the results I obtained using ActivePresenter was amazing. First of all, the software is really intuitive, and can record in high quality, without any problem. January 11, 2018 5.0 Ability to record on screen actions and combine that with recorded video, still and audio clips to create a single merged video output. Pros I played with a lot of tools in this category - many are free/feature limited with Pro versions ranging from single high cost to subscriptions. Active Presenter was the best combination of features (basic timeline editing, ability to pan and zoom the screen video, various options for exporting, no recurring costs for needed features) I found. In fairness, there is no such think as "simple" video editing. If you don't know what you're doing or don't do it frequently enough to recall all the feature locations, you'll struggle. Active Presenter is not designed for first time/one time use. It's a fairly serious program with a lot of features and options. I appreciate that it gives me the tools and controls to do the things I need without limitations, even at the cost of a learning curve. Cons It feels like it's designed for more slideshow based output than full video. It's capable of both, but many of the obvious options and toolbar buttons are geared towards something other than integrated video and on-screen action. August 27, 2018 5.0 Video user guides have become effortless and a huge time saver. Being able to utilise PowerPoint slides in this software has helped immensely as I don't have to do the work over, the foundation is there, I just need to add in effects. Pros The ease of use and the interface with PowerPoint. Compared to other video software out there that is complicated and difficult to use, I managed to figure this one out quite quickly, thanks to the PowerPoint interface. Being able to add in text boxes in the same way as PowerPoint is a huge time saver, and the ease of timing how long a slide, text, etc is displayed is effortless. A huge plus that has to be mentioned is that the free version does 95% of what the paid version does, and there are no watermarks on your final product. To really make polished videos of an extremely high calibre - for example if you want your music to fade in and out - you would need the paid version. The user manual also helped immensely. Cons I can't say that there is anything that stands out here. I found the software to be overall brilliant. You can also turn on the video. I am using it for creating user guides and video. You can easily trim the video and export in high quality. It also provides an option to show screen stimulation. Cons It does take a bit of time when we export the video and at time, it has crashed maybe because the video was too large. Anyway, I love the software, I found this after going through paid software as well. If we can provide a cursor highlight, it would be great. Pros The application has an intuitive slide-based workflow, a robust set of eLearning development tools, multi-modal publishing (demo, tutorial, practice, and test modes) and one-click publishing to HTML5 and/or SCORM formats for ready deployment via LMS (we use it with MOODLE). The few times I have needed support, the team was very responsive and extremely helpful and even on a few occasions created scripts to make the software do what we needed it to do (which were somewhat non-standard use-cases). I have used many eLearning development and deployment platforms (including the 2 heaviest hitters in the industry), but ActivePresenter is hands-down the best value for the money and is most accessible for new team members to ramp up in learning development. With ActivePresenter, we can switch out anything that needs to be edited for a new release, switch in new material quickly, and put out a revised video in less than an hour. With some other video editors, it took a couple of days. We’ve occasionally lost source files for older videos (not necessarily in ActivePresenter). With AP, we simply record the published older video and turn it into an AP source file. Pros I use ActivePresenter in two contexts. As a video producer for a major educational company, I produce small how-to videos that need frequent updating. As a mystery writer, I produce "teaser" videos for my books: fewer maintenance cycles but I need more dazzling effects. I've used other video editing suites and course creation tools, including Captivate, Camtasia, and (currently) Premiere Pro. For ease of use and breadth of features, my favorite is ActivePresenter. It is enormously flexible. It can import PowerPoint slides, images, GIFs, and other videos. As you edit, you can separate your video into chunks ("slides") to focus on one piece of animation or editing at a time. It captures video off the screen or from an application \*and separates the video track from the audio track\*--a huge win in maintenance. You can record multiple audio and video tracks at once. You can record a video without the mouse and layer the mouse in later, another big maintenance win. Once you’ve captured a video, you can export it as a MP4, then add it to another video, then edit it again, then export that video and import it to another video…all without loss of audio or video quality. Editing is nondestructive. AP has a nice library of special effects, including transitions from scene to scene, fades in and out of individual items in the timeline, animation (even without Saola Animate), and opacity. With the course creation module, of course, you’d get many more. Cons It’s a high-end video edit and there’s a learning curve if you haven’t used a similar product before. If you have, some things work differently but there are no real surprises. Source files for a complex video can be LARGE, up to several hundred MB. Plan your storage accordingly.
