It’s a useful tool for time tracking, productivity monitoring, and managing remote work. Once you get used to the platform, it becomes very straightforward and helps keep work organised and accountable. I would recommend it to teams or individuals looking for an efficient way to track work and manage projects. Pros What I liked most about Hubstaff was how easy it was to track time and stay organised. The interface is simple to use, and I liked being able to monitor productivity without things feeling too complicated. It also made managing tasks and work hours much more efficient, especially when working with remote teams. Cons One thing I liked least was that some of the features can feel a bit overwhelming at first, especially for new users. Pros I like the layout of the platform, and the reporting it offers. It is easy to navigate and support has helped me learn functions and show what we have not utilized, to make more of the platform. Very helpful! Cons Some of the functionality with the time syncing entries. I wish there was a way to allow members to edit after an entry is completed, or the next day after it locks, and be able to pick and choose who those people are. "Lookup project, see time billed" does not exist. How can a time tracking software not have a simple report showing me all the time billed to one project and by who? They constantly tell you all these convoluted steps to figure it out and they expect you to spend 10 minutes everytime you want the info. Now imagine it's the end of the month and you want to bill all your clients for time spent... Hubstaff makes it worse actually. Pros It accurately does additions of time and tells me who recorded what so I know what to pay. That's about it. Cons Customer support is terribly bad. Used them 8, 9x for different things, and it was always terrible. They provide phone support if they consider you a VIP customer who spends a certain amount with them. Otherwise support is through email and their virtual-online agent which is absolutely asinine. The email agents which are ostensibly humans seem to just send you FAQ links. Timesheet approvals stopped being a weekly chase and the QuickBooks sync removed the manual step that used to sit between approved hours and payroll. Once the team understood how the monitoring worked the friction disappeared and it just became part of the routine. Pros The automatic time tracking with activity monitoring is what separated Hubstaff from other tools we looked at. Screenshots and activity rates running in the background meant we had an accurate picture of productive hours without anyone manually logging anything. The GPS tracking for field based team members was a specific win, job site hours that used to be self reported and occasionally inconsistent became verifiable without any awkward conversations. Payroll integration meant approved hours fed directly into pay runs without a separate data entry step at the end of every period. Cons Screenshot frequency needs to be calibrated early on otherwise it feels intrusive. Default settings created some pushback from the team before we found the right balance. Maybe that it doesn't give you totals when you export it. You only can export hours. Was easy to use and understand, though recording my screen the whole time felt a little invasive, but I was able to mitigate this by pausing and restarting the timer when I needed a break. Pros I liked how easy it was to track time for different projects, as I just needed to start and end the timer as necessary. The time tracker did not interfere with my work, and I was able to go about my tasks as usual. Cons Nothing was bad about Hubstaff, but having it record my screen the entire time while I was working on tasks felt a little like an invasion of my privacy, as I felt forced to stay on certain webpages the whole time while working. I think with some additional refinements and new functionality to the desktop app, this will help significantly with the administration side of the house. Additional refinements to the integrations with Salesforce and QuickBooks would take the functionality of the system to the next level. Pros Overall, HubStaff is great for managing trackable, billable time for client projects. It's easy to manage project budgets and also have proof-of-delivery for client projects. Cons There is much to be desired with the desktop app. There really needs to be a way to make adding notes required when stopping timers, and help avoid the need for employees to log in to the website to manually edit entries. The integration stack also needs some serious improvements when it comes to pushing data into QuickBooks/Salesforce. " May 29, 2025 1.0 I have had a terrible experience with this company and 100% do NOT recommend them. They do not care about their clients at all. Pros In the beginning it was affordable and worked fairly well. It was easy to use and seemed straightforward. Cons Hubstaff autobills without notice, and they charged me TWICE what I signed up for. They signed me up for services I don't use and then charged me for it. I do NOT recommend this company.
