We've been using Hubstaff for a few years now, and it's the best time tracking software I've come across. It tracks all our employee's hours, activity levels and takes 3 screenshots every 10 minutes so you can look more carefully into your employees' performance if necessary. They also recently introduced badges which are awarded if someone has consistently high activity levels, which is also motivating for employees. They also offer a billing section which we don't use but is useful for businesses who pay employees per hour.

Pros

The best part is that the software downloads onto your PC and runs in the background with minimum interference. If you stop working, it will record idle time and ask you f you want to keep the idle time as work time or not - which is really useful. Another stellar feature is that it tracks activity levels. If an employee's activity levels are low, you get an email with a screenshot of their screenshot showing what they were doing at that time.

Cons

I can't think of anything we don't like.

Pros

Cons

I think it is a bit on the expensive side.

Pros

Hubstaff made it easy to manage our decentralized and remote team across timezones and projects, by centralizing our time tracking and project tracking into one place.

Cons

Managing the security levels to ensure everyone had access to what they needed was a bit challenging at first, but was quickly resolved with some support and training.

Time tracking, monitoring, and Asana integration

Pros

\- Great value for the money - The integration with our task tool, Asana, works pretty well - Ability to set internal and external rates per hour - Daily task summary emails are helpful - Time/Screen tracking has worked flawlessly--which is the core of the product. - Timesheets can be reviewed

Cons

\- Reporting is finicky. Has the basic options but not too granual - The desktop (Windows) app is dated. It works, but doesn't look great. And the integration with Asana leaves much to be desired (tasks are not laid out properly) - Inability to initiate the desktop client from the Asana web app. So, to start time on a task, you need to find it in Asana, then find the same one in the desktop app (which is difficult when you have multiple tasks using the same name), then click "Start" - Asana integration does not update itself when projects are removed, renamed, or added.

Great experience. Love the company and the staff.

Pros

We have an overseas team of Filipino employees that are amazing and Hubstaff really helps us with Time and Activity tracking. They are so trustworthy, but it's nice to know that they are actually doing their jobs correctly. The screen capture software enabled us to solve an internal dispute about managing some finances and resulted in one employee being let go and another employee promoted -- all this was verifiable because of the time tracking as well as activity tracking software.

Cons

I would really like it if more integrations were allowed within the Hubstaff standard program. The functionality for the price should be included.

Pros

From Time tracking, Productivity monitoring, Reporting & Online timesheets all in one software service. Time tracking anywhere or everywhere in remote location, multiple devices or any platform where your employee works. Do you wanna see your projects unfold before your very eyes, Hubstaff has this project productivity monitoring wherein it files screenshots, sites visited or apps used to create the project also it has online timesheets wherein you would know of how long did it take for a project to be done and what "possible problems" caused a delay. Tired of the old biometrics tracking to know if your employee did come to work or not? Solution? Hubstaff. Turn any of your device into a kiosk for clocking in and out of employees. Reporting comes with it too, how convenient is that?

Cons

Only problem with this product is sometimes it malfunctions when not updated properly else it works perfectly.

### "A tool that is paying for itself"

We use Hubstaff daily with my team (8 freelancers) we keep track of time and tasks with it and it's integrated with Trello so we can directly assign those tasks on a single application and use it with Hubstaff without any issues. From the manager point of view it's a great tool to keep track of what's going on with your team and how time is spent. I would love having a the old dashboard where I could see the overall team's work. From the freelancer's point of view sometimes we spend lots of time reading or investigating and this affects the overall activity giving the impression that you are not working because there is low activity on the keyboard and mouse.

Pros

Easy to use, very user friendly and accurate with time tracking.

Cons

When you integrate a project with Trello, you can't add new manual tasks. Sometimes the reports for activity are really aggressive giving the impression you are not working

It’s a pretty reliable program to track productivity and allows you to work with employees remotely. Every supervisor who works with employees remotely should have this. It makes your work so much easier and it is very affordable.

Pros

I find Hubstaff to be very useful especially in project management. Tasks can be clearly outlined for each agent and it helps you get reports on my agents and productivity increases because I can now closely follow up with the individual agents who are having trouble delivering. It’s a very easy software to use with a clean User Interface. I especially love the “Hubstaff Tasks” function as it helps me track the amount of time agents take to complete certain tasks and this is very useful information in project planning, I can now get a better estimate of the time required to carry out tasks from previous records. I haven’t had the chance to use the mobile app but it’s good to know there is that option which would be very useful when on the go.

Cons

Hubstaff has been splendid and it offers a lot of features, I’m really satisfied with it, maybe in a future version, the software could include a real time option for the reports.

As CEO of a distributed team, Hubstaff is key in the management of time tracking and performance. I have used it for about three years and I don´t think in changing it anytime soon.

Pros

The development team is rolling out new features constantly. The product is not stale at all. There is always experimentation on new characteristics.

Cons

The desktop app for tracking time could be more friendly. I would like to have an easier way to add new tasks.

Reason for choosing Hubstaff

It had all the features I wanted and flexible pricing plans. They don´t only focus on time tracking but they have a complete set of tools for human resources management.

Pros

This is a very, very easy-to-use time management software that can work in businesses of many shapes and sizes. I love that rather than just digitally tracking time, you can even assign your time to different projects, locations, etc. It works on Mac and PC flawlessly, and although I haven't used the mobile app, I've heard good things about it. In terms of trusting your workers, it even can screen capture the main display of their PC/Mac to ensure they aren't slacking off. This also tracks how much "activity" (mouse movement only, I think) per 10-minute period.

Cons

Really not too many cons with this one - very straightforward as an enduser, and very straightforward to setup for others. I think that presentation wise, the program could be rebranded to be a bit cleaner-looking, or higher-end. It's simple, it works, but I think it could be visually enhanced a tad. In terms of function, there's not much to criticize other than editing time after the fact. I have found it sometimes cumbersome to overwrite/change old time entries after entering them, as when it overlaps with another time, it doesn't allow you to submit.

Overall experience is much better but, Kindly improve the timesheets format as a neat chart or give us the options to view it as a table or something way more intuitive than what we have right now.

Pros

HubStaff is lightweight and does not impact my PC performace compared to other time tracking applications in the market.

Cons

I still don't like the view of timesheets and the method of viewing them is very complex and sometimes confusing.

while as executive director am supposed to monitor employee productivity and performance but others work in remote areas which are hard to reach and tend to be expensive , however i use hub staff to reach to employees working in remote areas without visiting their offices hence saving me time and institutional resources

its has good customer services which are so supportive when contested and its is so easy to use and with this software am able to truck employees remotely using the online time sheet

free vision is not provided and this makes it hard for new user to learn before taking decision of purchasing it

i can track my work time in a day. i know how much hours I have left, etc.

Cons

THE SCREENSHOT FEATURE! even if I just turned on my hubstaff time and my computer is still loading, it takes a screenshot right away. the screenshot is set to take a screenshot every 10 mins however, sometimes it takes less minutes or even more than 10 mins!!! and also, it does not track activity when i am in a meeting. like 2-5% only!!! aside from that, even when i'm so busy with work, it only detects 40-60% of active time/activity. CRAZYYYY

Pros

Hubstaff is one of the daily tools we used in our Startup. As techies, we need to be always connected, with other team members, colleagues, and clients. It's good to have this tool since our core office is in SF and all our developers are around the world!

Cons

I think there's a lot of space to grow in the design perspective. For example, I think the timer can be more friendly for the user in this case de developer and also it could have other functionality like see screenshots directly from the app without the necessity to open the web page.

Pros

I like the fact most that Hubstaff is very easy to use and has enough functions to use for our company. Its a simple time tracking software which can be used by anybody very conveniently.

Cons

Hubstaff should put more efforts on analytical function. We really need more freedom on this sector for better progression of our projects.

Easy to use and a great tool for employers to keep track of hours, progress, and more.

Pros

Easy to track progress of employees. The screenshots of user's progress really helps with managing remote teams and build trust. The platform has a lot of customized options, filters for information, and user friendly interface. Great investment!

Cons

Doesn't remind users to focus on their job. It is a bit too basic with the timer on the panel. I find it not interactive enough especially for those who loose focus easily. I with it worked like pomodoro with a more sophisticated setting and options panel.

Hubstaff is the first third-party time tracking software I've used. It gave me peace of mind above all else. Really can't ask for more.

Pros

Hubstaff is simple. As a team member, I was able to set up the software, be added to the project at hand, and start working within minutes. No complicated options to figure out, and everything was 100% intuitive. The desktop app is small and unobtrusive. I really don't want more things to complicate my work, so Hubstaff was perfect for me. It also has a mobile app which it syncs with perfectly. I only had to use this once, but it was quite useful to have the option.

Cons

The Hubstaff mobile app was a little clunky. It seems like it's basically a direct translation from the desktop app. It's usable, and useful for sure, but could be streamlined for mobile. Something I would particularly like to see is the option to start and stop tracking from the notifications area, like you can with media players.

The time tracking app which just needs to be started when you login from home. Also the feature to capture screenshots is extremely useful especially for employees working with confidential data.

Cons

Gaining a high productivity score is pretty hard as it only takes into consideration the amount of mouse movement and keyboard use.

Overall, Hubstaff is a great product. I have looked at several other timers and time-tracking utilities, but keep using Hubstaff because of the ease in setting up small projects. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Pros

The desktop widget timer is great, and I can create a project and get to working on it with minimal fuss. This is great for small ad hoc projects that require only a few hours of work.

Cons

It is difficult to see how much total time an individual has worked on a specific project. Ideally, you could select a project and an employee and see the total time that person worked. Also, the "custom" timeframe capability using the calendars doesn't seem to work properly when selecting dates for a report.

### "Hubstaff over other timetrackers"

It was a good experience however we just moved to a different time tracker as we need to integrate our own system with the time tracker at a lower cost. We did a get a refund once but it never happened again, and this was due to some tech issues on their end.

Pros

Hub staff is very convenient to use and very detailed as screenshots from what the workers were doing are available but it isn't readily available real time. The interface is user-friendly. The percentage of work and movement is there, so you kind of have the idea if the worker is idle or not, hub staff capture 3 random screenshots​ every 10 minutes so it does really help a lot in catching workers who are doing unrelated things while they should be doing work. Apart from this, the admin can restrict the workers from deleting the screenshots but​ it could also be enabled in the setting, when screenshots are deleted, it also deducts the 10 mins. Both admins and users​ can add time manually depending on what you set up. With the support people, I think they are okay, but can only be reached through emails and chatbox on the website.

Cons

One of the issue 90% of us encountered​ with hubstaff is with setting up, the timezone is really hard to set up, but hubstaff provided a troubleshooting guide link also posted on their website, but still it is quiet techy for someone who is not tech savvy​. Another thing that I least like about the software is that, they can't track real time, which I think is very essential for most businesses. They don't have a live monitoring set up. The Customer service is good, however it is very unconvenient to reach them, I would really prefer them to have a phone line so I don't have to type a very long email explaining about my technical issues. Apparently, they can only be contacted through chatbox in their website (which is not 24/7) and through emails. Lastly, I really don't like how google gives ideas and accesses on tutorials on how to bypass the hubstaff system. There are a ​couple of ways a worker can bypass the hubstaff system and it may seem to you that the worker is working but actually not. Applications and tricks are available online.

It is allowing you to start the employee timer based on location. So, if you are working remote you can be sure that your employees on the field and working.

Cons

There are still points that should be improved. Mobile app is one of them. Mobile app should include all the features and should be more user friendly.

Indeed, our team recognised the need for a new and improved mobile offering to be implemented on the platform and that is something that will be happening in the near future. Our team has been developing a new application for both iOS and Android and those are currently in a closed beta at the moment, with the mobile developers working to address any issues or concerns that we may come across as part of the beta, in order to have these ironed out for release. I can't provide you with a concrete date as to when our team is expecting the mobile application to become available for usage but you can expect an email to be sent out from our product team, when that is happening.
