Please note that Hubstaff does offer the functionality to have idle (inactive) time automatically removed from the platform, once the user is back from such a period of time. I like that you can set up multiple different projects to track where you spend your time. Cons As a tracker, you need to download the desktop app. I don't think they have a comparable browser app. In the admin console, the amount of reports you can generate is overwhelming. Hubstaff should try to recommend the most common reports and hide the ones involving a lot of customizations. I'm happy with Hubstaff and will continue to use it! Pros Hubstaff is worth every penny even just for the automatic payroll. My team members log their hours in Hubstaff and then every Monday, their pay is sent through Paypal. I used to have to do this manually, and now I don't have to do anything. It also makes it easier to see how much time each person is devoting to certain tasks, since you can create "projects" for people to log hours on. I love, love, love that Hubstaff takes screenshots of people's screens and measures the time they spend active while logging hours. It helps me ensure they're actually working when they say they are. Cons Hubstaff can be a little tricky to navigate. I usually have to go on a scavenger hunt when I'm looking for something specific. So, it's not always the most user-friendly solution. We are being monitored efficiently as it has the feature of taking screenshots randomly to check what you are working on from time to time. It will also go idle at certain point when you are doing nothing. It makes every part of the team working and using their time more effectively at work. Pros What I love most about this software is its accuracy. You can really track your teammates work progress and see if they are really doing their jobs during their shift. Cons Nothing much really. Keeps everything fair and transparent Pros I have experience with Hubstaff as a member, keeping track of my work, and as a manager, keeping track of other people's job. In both ends this tool have been very helpful. Takes a couple of tries to the hang of it, but not a big deal. Is a very helpful tool as it's beneficial for everyone, employers and employees. Cons When I was using it as an employee to keep track of my work, it bothered me that sometimes I forgot to start the time again. I wish there would be an easier and more visual way to make sure the time is running, something like notifications every onces in a while to let you know how much time you've been working. Pros Most time tracking software doesn't give you the depth of data that Hubstaff does. They justify this by saying that "if you can trust your staff, no monitoring is necessary". The reality is that remote teams have a hard time staying on top of who is working on what and who needs help. PM tools only go so far, but seeing where staff are struggling in real time allows us to be pro-active about priorities and getting everyone the information they need to get the job done without having to wait for them to ask. Cons There are some minor issues, like no currency conversion on staff pay rates. This negates the value of a lot of the reports when running an international team. I often wish the integrations with PM and accounting tools went a bit further so that time data could be pushed to those to get reports outside of Hubstaff. It makes it so easy for me to keep track of my work and plan invoicing. Pros Allows me to keep tabs on my work in the office or on the road, and to quickly swap between projects when the phone rings. I really like the reports on cumulative hours and the ability to download the data and analyse it in excel. Most importantly the fact that it detects when I have walked away and asks me if I want to delete that time is brilliant. It also allows me to edit times later if I want to add some out of the office time. Cons I find the date selection fairly clunky and alsofind it difficult to remember where the particular reports are that I would like. Problem = solved. :) In fact, we get additional data, like activity level, which helps a lot. In the end, we were very happy with our employees, and continue to be! For reference, we're a distributed team of 8 who build customized virtual solutions for our partners looking to grow their business online! One note: You may get some push back from employees to use this, but in my experience, those who dislike it have been dishonest. Most are completely fine with it! Pros The pros of the software are simple: you know what people are working on, and when! It makes your operation incredibly efficient. There are lots of integrations and the support is fantastic. One nice touch is the daily notification emails that are sent with time worked, and level of activity. We share these publicly with the team. Cons Overall it's a great app. The only cons are: - I wish the public API was more robust, so we could integrate Hubstaff further into other software. - The UI is a bit dated, so sometimes we have to do a few more steps than I think necessary. Pros \- easy to use - setup is not difficult specially while onboarding new person in the team - client setup and reporting is great - different kind of reports are very helpful - there are payment integration software but bring more like i can transfer directly from my bank account. Cons \- need multiple hours so billing and paying hours could be in different currency. specially when paying country is different then developer's team country - time off (leave) period should be dynamic . like here we consider financial year so we didn't consider from Jan - Dec instead we consider April - March - lower activity: report should exclude time below any percentage. at the moment doing it manually and it is very tedious task. February 6, 2019 4.0 Pros It's one of the best activity tracker for hourly based work. Specially, when you're paying freelancers hourly and based on their activity you can see how much they have worked. It's not just great for writers, accountants, developers, its a great tool for every software based work that you would use on your computer. Simply, create different tasks and assign to your employee or freelancer, and monitor their activity on different softwares. Whether they were actually working or just browsing the web. Cons I think when it comes to creativity or analytical ability of a person, It can't tell how productive a person was for you. e.g. If I do an activity in 3 clicks using mouse and I could also do the same thing with simple keyboard shortcut. So how does it analyse which way was more efficient? this is where I feel the software lacks. If was a profile based analysis, it would have been great. Pros I like that Hubstaff has integration with Chrome so I can easily switch my time on and off. The dashboard stats are displayed nicely and give me an idea of how my week or month is going. Cons Though I'm sure it's pro for employers, I dislike the mouse tracking aka your efficiency will drop if you're not constantly moving your mouse. It ends up being distracting and fosters an unhealthy urgency mindset. If you forget to switch time between projects, it can be confusing to redistribute it.
