As an employee of a distributed-team company I've been using Hubstaff for 18 months and I track my time with it. The time tracker works smoothly and the accompanying web dashboard allows me to know well about my performance and expected income for the month.

Pros

Lightweight! A minimalist, zero distraction UI. Tracking time syncing (with hubstaff servers) works perfectly.

Cons

The layout of preferences dialog is a bit too plain. Could be enhanced...

Being able to easily provide prove of my working hours with screenshots and reports taken by HubStaff.

Pros

It allows you to screenshot and record your time on the computer without having to do it personally. The free version is useful but if you can invest a bit of budget in it, you get all the more features that you could possible need.

Cons

The tracking screenshot is distracting when it's being taken if you like to zoom out. The free-trial period does not allow you to keep all the information or to export/save it if you decide to downgrade to the unpaid version.

Positive overall. Working for clients/ companies across the US remotely I’ve had a variety of hourly tracking systems in place- this one has the clearest and cleanest layout.

Pros

Easy to install and understand, clearly tracks time remotely, allows for editing of time/ screenshots unrelated to work.

Cons

Initially found notifications of screenshots distracting, took a few tries to understand where to find the editing functions.

This program does everything I need for simple time tracking against projects. There are heaps of features that the program offers that I don't require and am not likely to require in the future so it is great that their pricing scale reflects this!

Pros

Great program for just keeping track of time spent on fee for service projects Easy to use Integrates with Asana

Cons

Few issues with dropping the integration link to Asana, but resolved quickly

Im, an employee and it tracks exactly the amount of time I work and lets my manager know what websites im working on, if my productivity is low then he can just track my screenshots and see why, if I was on a meeting or whatever the reason may be. I love Hubstaff

Pros

I like that you can download it in every computer that you use and just sign in with your account and your project will start tracking, it is the most accurate tool i have known to track the employees time, productivity and use of equipment

Cons

Maybe the interface can be more friendly and modern

### "Of no benefit to me"

The software was introduced centrally and I am required to use it for HR reference (essentially for "clocking in"). I find it of no help to me during my working day and still use Klok2 to monitor my time for my own purposes to log against tasks done, which is recorded in TFS. As I never refer to it I frequently forget it is there, I cannot imagine the quality of data HR receive from me is very good.

Pros

I believe the company chose it because it integrates with systems already used by our Customer Service and Project Management staff.

Cons

If you forget to stop it, there is no obvious way to discard (not re-assign) the idle time. If you forget to stop it and leave it running overnight, there is no obvious way to reset the time so you can see the time spent from the time you started it again. I have found it unstable (crashing and freezing) The available "projects" to log time to are centrally managed with no way of creating my own or creating sub-tasks (may be due to setup in my company).

Overall, I've liked using Hubstaff -- it's easy to use and works great. I haven't had any issues. I would recommend using it to track your time/projects and for teams.

Pros

Hubstaff is very easy to use and quick to learn. After a two-minute explanation, anyone is able to use it to track their time/projects effectively.

Cons

If you forget to start your timer, but are working, Hubstaff does not prompt you to start your timer.

Its become a crucial part of our backend operations.

Pros

It is fairly easy to train employees on how to use and the integration for the employer are great like automated payment and paypal integration

Cons

We still have to use our Quickbooks for the heavy lifting regarding accounting, although I don't think hubstaff markets itself as a replacement

Pros

For a freelance developer like myself, this piece of software has been a god-send. It's easy to use, the app on my Mac makes it simple to pick a project and start the timer and, it's a no-brainer. The web interface is awesome, and not overly complicated with stuff I don't need.

Cons

I haven't found anything I don't like about the software.

Pros

I recently started a new position at my job that requires taking note of how much time we spend doing each task. I was looking for an easy way to do that and this software was recommended to me by a friend. After trying it out I am happy to say I really love this product. It makes keeping track of time spent on each task super easy and overall it’s really user friendly. I use this daily to track my time.

Cons

It took me a bit longer to figure out how to use it.

Quick hours reporting per project and budgeting reporting as well.

Pros

screenshots, active percentage during working hours, notes of what was accomplish during the time period. Reporting area for tabulation of time over a two week period, payment integrations as well.

Cons

It took some time to organize the administrative area and the reporting areas. The calendar selection was a bit tricky and which reports provided the right information was tricky as well. But once you on-boarded with the software, it was super easy to use and continue to use.

Hubstaff clearly invested in the UI/UX and their apps work—desktop, mobile, and web.

Cons

When I (initially) began using Hubstaff, there wasn't a ton of onboarding, so I had to teach myself. Not terribly difficult and I imagine they've added walkthroughs and tutorials since I became a user (a few years ago).
