Pros: With a solution like Zenefits, I have managed to reduce the HR budget year-over-year while going 100% paperless. The integration with our applicant tracking system allows me to push data seamlessly from my mobile device directly to Zenefits to extend an offer, wherever, whenever. I am no longer chained to the constraints of my desk, which is critical for an HR team of one.

Easily the most comprehensive solution in the market (at this price point) that addresses onboarding/offboarding, automated and customized email triggers to employees, time and attendance, insurance, aca compliance, reporting (standard and custom) and a multitude of integrations. Since becoming a client over 2 years ago, I have gone to market year-over-year, and haven't found a solution that is comparable. Zenefits kills the busy work and allows me to dedicate time to our employees and driving meaningful initiatives, restructuring the experience with HR to being a partnership versus an administrative burden.

Cons: I wish the performance management module was baked into the subscription versus an add-on cost.

The transition to a new brokerage, OneDigital, has come with its challenges, but I appreciate that the leadership teams both with Zenefits and OneDigital have been willing to personally speak with me to determine how gaps can be bridged to improve my experience as the employer.

Overall: -Paperless onboarding/offboarding to support a remote workforce

-Integrations with existing ATS, removing the needs for duplicate data entry

-Digital document storage, allowing us to digitize all employee files. No more paper!

-Time off tracking: Automatic rating to managers for review and approval of all time off requests while keeping the HR team aware of team schedules. Transparent reporting to have conversations with employees regarding the time off trends (% of unplanned versus planned time off). Time off solution also supports Prop 206 mandated sick leave.

-Health insurance platform that allows for the execution of open enrollment, qualifying life events and new hire enrollments for all lines of coverage (med, dent, vision, life and disability). HSA app built in to allow employees to review available balances and submit out of pocket expenses.

-ACA compliance: Built into existing subscription model that allows for ACA reporting, submission to IRS and 1094/1095 creation without the need for an accountant or an expensive solution.

-Business intelligence: Real-time standard and customized reporting. I use this solution heavily as a federal contractor to execute our annual affirmative action reporting.

Pros: At our small company, we use Zenefits for basic HR administration like onboarding and enrolling employees in health benefits. It has saved us a lot of time over the past couple of years, particularly with the elimination of paper forms and the fact that it communicates with our healthcare provider. There are a lot of features on the platform and more seem to pop up every few weeks. The recent redesign has also made things a little easier for both administrators and employees. Our staff members also like the Time Off functionality in the system, whereby they can submit vacation or work-from-home requests and managers can then easily approve them directly from an email notification. Recently, the activation of the ClubZen area has given us a chance to interact with other Zenefits customers and provide direct feedback to the Zenefits team, which is an interesting idea and one that gives us a sense of belonging to the community at large. Monetarily speaking, we also think that the system is a great value for the price, even if we don't necessarily use every single feature available to us with our subscription.

Cons: The platform itself works well for the most part, though occasionally I'll run into areas where setting up a policy or enabling a feature seems a little esoteric and not too straightforward. Zenefits has also been working hard to improve their customer service, which has been a sore point for quite a few customers in the past. For this year's open enrollment, for example, I had to specifically reach out to the customer service team to get the process started, and was bounced around a little bit before landing with a benefits advisor. However, things were smooth after that. I think if these factors can be improved, the system will be really great.

Comments: Gusto is by far the best payroll, and even if you go with Zenefits I suggest you use them for payroll. Do not let Zenefits convince you to switch over. Pretty much only their sales people are responsive/friendly and as soon as you pay, they disappear. If you are big enough to go with Workday, go with them (IIRC they require 12 employees). BambooHR has a decent option, but watch for the hidden fees. They're not really upfront on all the costs, and their stuff is complicated enough they require you to go through training to use it. I am REALLY hopeful that new management at Zenefits will finally clean things up, or Gusto will enter the full market of Zenefits and put them out of business. Gusto support is awesome, just don't leave Gusto in the middle of the year. They have a policy that you can't come back in the same year.

Pros: For a small business there is not anyone cheaper than Zenefits and they have much greater integration and overall HR flow management than pretty much anyone I could find. When everything works, Zenefits is a beautiful thing.

Cons: Zenefits support is absolutely horrible. If there was ANY competitor that was anywhere close to having what they have at anywhere near their cost, I would have left by now. Support makes me downright angry on a regular basis. They don't read your questions and try to answer a different question, they take two or more days to respond (and there is no phone support), they tell you they'll call you back and do not, they give you wrong information over and over again. Almost no one who works there has any clue what they are doing, and their software messes up sometimes. The combination of the two has been a nightmare. I am constantly wondering if I'm actually saving time by using them, or if all the time I save is eating up with my many hours of arguing with support.

Comments: It would be great if there were a way to require that employees enter bank account information and disable the paper check option all together. I believe this is legal in North Carolina, where we are located, as long as the employee receives a pay stub. It would also be amazing if there were a built in team communication portal. We currently use GSuite to build Groups which can encompass non-Gmail email addresses, as well as HotSchedules. It is a bit difficult to always be adding folks' emails to so many different systems. If Zenefits could track employee reviews based on their position/wage changes, that would also be amazing! That's all for now.

Pros: The aesthetic of the site is nice. The overall idea of employee/administrator shared duties is nice. The onboarding process is almost as efficient as I think it could be and the insurance function works pretty well with some exceptions. The multiple integrations with other software are also vast and offer many options for integration.

Cons: Does not integrate with QB Manufacturing Edition. Does not offer multiple job roles/pay rates (this keeps us from further exploring any timekeeping or alternative payroll integration). Org chart does not allow for multiple owners/CEOs. Does not allow for tracking of certifications or training for employees. Insurance deductions aren't correct after 2 fixes...still waiting on support for this. There is no general alert system upon logging in, as there was on the old platform. I-9 verification does not require employees to upload enough documentation. i.e. they can upload a driver license and not the 2nd form of ID, so when I receive the request to verify, there is only one form of ID there and I have to chase them down for the 2nd. If they do go into Zenefits to upload another form of ID, it is difficult to navigate.

Comments: My company, about ~75 large, enrolled with Zenefits in early 2015. We already had our own payroll, onboarding, and benefits brokers in place; some (onboarding and most benefits) we transitioned to Zenefits. To date, we have been somewhat happy with the system, though it is not as seamless or as flexible as might be liked, especially as a company retrofits their offerings to the Zenefits system (eg, rollover of brokers and benefits plans was quite poorly handled by account managers and 'experts'). We have also had ~8 account managers over less than 2 years, which is frustrating to us as well as indicative of a company in some turmoil; neither they nor Support have necessarily been particularly knowledgeable about some standard HR policy, as well as their internal functioning. That said, for an inexpensive product it does perform much of the HR paperwork, admin, and processing; it also provides helpful reminders and processing regarding ACA regulations, EEOC reports, etc.

Pros: Fairly comprehensive in what it offers, and is increasingly customizable in its various offerings. Support is kind and prompt, though not always the most immediately knowledgeable. Reports for business are easy to pull and very useful. Very clear, straightforward, and user-friendly interface, for both employees and admins.

Cons: Rollover of plans and brokers can be a real hassle, and the Zenefits account managers aren't always the most knowledgeable or the most immediate links to benefits vendors. The software on the back-end is still buggy and may hit tech snags. Employee interactions are for the most part positive, but there was a COBRA issue that went on for months. Similarly, when requesting a training on 'what health insurance is, and what my options are' the manager mostly took us through 'how to upload your profile pic' (granted, this was early 2015, I think those offerings have either been improved or abolished).

Recommendations to other buyers: Good match companies that are just setting up internal HR, payroll, benefits plans, etc, and don't require any rollovers or retrofitting. Overall the platform and company are still definitely experiencing growing pains, but if it can double down on its core offerings and also begin to hire increasingly knowledgeable experts in specific HR and benefits areas, is a great resource for a price.

Zenefits us primarily in benefits administration, onboarding e-paperwork, and ACA reporting.

Pros: The apps are are very organized and "user friendly". Customer support has improved significantly in the past year. It is a pro that there are multiple HR functions electronically administered. It has made many HR functions in my company more efficient which allows us to focus on strategic goals and other areas. Zenefits assist us mostly in ACA reporting, e-paperwork for onboarding, limited compliance assistance, basic data reporting, and PTO administration. It has transition our new hire paperwork to e-files. Speaking from a small company of 65, it is a helpful product to keep data stored, electronic onboarding, PTO, and ACA Reporting.

Cons: Zenefits charges by certain App usage. For example, administering FSA or HSA via Zenefits will charge a fee per enrollees in addition to the number of employee per month. We are hoping for their Benchmark app from HR Compliance to provide more data that we can use to create customized reports. I believe that the benchmark data can definitely be improved. I would like to learn more about how this product can be used as a company's "Employer Intranet Portal" website or assist the company in "employee performance or management" function.

Overall: ACA Reporting, benefits administration, and electronic onboarding.

Pros: Zenefits has been a great way for a small business, like us, to ease into technology. It has really great and helpful tools, the cost is far less than alternative options, and their customer support is usually excellent. It has helped cut down benefits paperwork tremendously, kept us ACA compliant, streamlined our hiring process, and we were able to customize other areas (such as documents) to help us track policies & trainings. We're still finding ways to be able to customize it to work for our company. So with all of the options we use and new ways we are able to customize it, the cost continues to go down once it's all factored into the equation.

Cons: Zenefits is a fast moving company, so sometimes changes come fast and furious. They usually are good changes, so that helps ease the burden. However, sometimes it can feel like I just learned how to use something and then it changes. But I guess that's also just the new normal. Other than lots of changes, I really don't have a lot of cons. When I come across issues, I contact a customer service rep and things are usually taken care of. I'm sure there are little things I would tweak here and there, but nothing significant that would make me not recommend using this product.

With the introduction of Zenefits!! Get most of your HR Problems Released!!!!

Pros: In today's life, a very big problem that big companies are facing is that HR is not manageable. I have seen a lot of companies that are facing this problem extremely. So, to overcome these barriers and make the flow smooth a brilliant software had been launched named: ZENEFITS!! It provides a platform that can be easily understood and can be used by an ordinary person. Great Na!! It also stores time and attendance of its users and supports Integration. One great thing is also that it provides a completely automated and electronic employees on-boarding services. It integrates all the functions of HR management under one roof only. This one is Awesome Guys!! It also supports reporting and filing data of ACA as well as it also supports customer service.

Cons: This application excludes international payrolls and having some problems in permanent storage of details of employees (Like mailing address of employees). Sometimes very awkward problems arise like managers are not able to access all the details of employees etc. Its Insurance Integration is also very bad as well as it provides only a few reports that are almost of no use. In comparison to its competitors, its prices are a little bit higher which also increases its cons. It has no performance management tools as well as it is not full HRIS, it is a basic system so use according to your needs.

I have used many HRIS products in my career - I love the simplicity and sophistication of Zenefits!

Pros: There is so much to love - ease of configuration, plug and play functionality, instantaneous user access, complete control of documents, transparency to users, intuitive and consistent interfaces - the back-end touches that make this system so simple to use. New hires consistently comment on the simplicity of their onboarding and the professional appearance of the documents and emails they receive through Zenefits.

I also appreciate that COBRA and other compliance requirements are seamlessly handled for me. I can be an HR department of one with Zenefits as my HR Coordinator.

As a small nonprofit, we look for value and long-term investment in everything we buy - this has been one of the best and most effective purchases we have made.

Cons: I haven't found anything that I don't like or that I like less than something else. I have always been pleased with the changes and improvements made and have always received great customer service in a timely manner.

Comments: Zenefits is a great system overall. You can tell the functionality and comprehensiveness that the HR department needs is there, but that's where my positive review ends. I recently signed my company onto their platform sold on specific features like PTO. I selected Zenefits BECAUSE these functions where part of their free platform and I could add on what I needed (for a fee) as I went. I partnered with JAZZ their ATS recommendation and put all my eggs in Zenefits basket, which was a BIG mistake. Their synch of my payroll took 5 weeks (was supposed to take 2 at most) and was ported over as a complete mess with wages and employees all mixed up, this took weeks to fix. Finally, when all of that was sorted out they changed their free base plan that included PTO (one of the major reasons I signed on) to a paid plan! BAIT and SWITCH! You would think they would grandfather their old clients in or create a bare-bones option that still gives you a remnant of the function you were sold on. I would recommend a company that has better support and can DELIVER on what they have their sales people sell. Their client support kept insinuating I was lucky to have anything left for free! Terrible way to handle the situation!

Pros: The platform itself seems user-friendly, I did not have a chance to use all the features since the plan changed but overall seems fluid, and clear to use.

Cons: Horrible customer support takes literal DAYS to reply. They are also on Pacific time but do not start replying until 9 am their time, horrible for each coaster. Feels like they want to squeeze money out of you. If they cannot afford to run a free platform then they should not offer it, not punish the client later for their bad decisions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look at other software, they are pricey but seem to have their act together. They are not in a "change" period like Zenefits. I wish I would have selected one of these two, at this point, I am hung out to dry with no option than to pay for something that was free 10 days ago. NOT TRUSTWORTHY.

Comments: Worth taking a look at.

Pros: User friendly for both HR and employees (self-serve) --easy and intuitive to use. Incredibly easy to create customized reports off using almost any data point(s). Smooth automated benefits enrollment process. Responsive customer service and great online help tools. System doesn't go down and is fast enough to keep up with our needs.

Cons: Zenefits is still 'young' and getting its act together. Used to be free until last year and they are still evolving their pricing structure, so they may end up being too expensive for our small company. Considerable personnel turnover in past 2 years and change in how they manage some functions (for instance, they now outsource benefits management to a 3rd party company instead of managing benefits inhouse and I am not overly impressed with the current benefits mgmt. group). Limited paid time off functionality (system only allows tracking of one paid time off process and my company has 2 discrete time off policies).

Zenefits is a great piece of software making tremendous improvements all the time.

Pros: The ease of use for both employee and administrator is fantastic. New hires report an extremely pleasant onboarding experience through the platform.

The automation is great and most things work extremely well. When they don't, my account manager is incredibly responsive and helpful.

I absolutely love that the product team has taken several of my suggestions for improved functionality and implemented them.

Cons: Document storage doesn't work well for our use case. As a law firm, we have significant needs in this area and the current system is inadequate and cumbersome. Our need is greater than the typical use case.

I preferred being able to call customer support when I had issues (outside of what my account manager handles). Submitting an issue through the portal and awaiting an email reply or call back (depending on which option is selected) is not ideal. Highly recommend a return to the prior method because it felt more available and 'real time'.

Comments: I would not recommend Zenefits to anyone! They have a lot of work to really compete with other platforms that provide real time customer service and you don't have to sit and wait for them to call you.

Pros: The platform itself is pretty easy to use and the dashboard is nice. The payroll portion is easy to use, but for hourly employees, payroll can not be run until the absolute end of the payroll. Even if you wanted to process payroll a little early, you can't.

Cons: The customer service is awful. If you send a "help" email, you will NEVER get a response. If you request a call-back, you will get that, but if the agent tells you they will send a confirmation email, don't expect it because it will never come. Their benefits team is super slow at responding to benefits questions. I end up calling the carriers to get my answers. And payroll....if you submit your payroll at the 2:00 PST and they receive it at 2:01 PST, you payday gets pushed one day. I don't understand why they require four days before payroll processing for direct deposits. The customer service team are mostly really awful to speak with; they dismiss you like you are wasting their time.

Zenefits is my go-to for all things related to HR. User friendly for both adm and end-user.

Pros: Zenefits was a lifesaver for our growing firm. Our firm was initially looking for a way to better manager PTO requests, but as we learned more about the product offerings, we took full advantage of making Zenefits the cornerstone of our HR infrastructure. Besides PTO tracking, the most useful/time saving features are onboarding new employees and open enrollment. With the functionality Zenefits provides, these previously time consuming and scattered tasks have become easy, accurate, and seamless. Having Zenefits available as a tool has enabled our Firm to offer employees a fully transparent HR tool that can assist them in managing their HR needs.

Cons: The inability to integrate information with our payroll provider - ADP Run. When Zenefits was launched at our firm, the integration was available and very useful. While not a deal-breaker, not having that integration is a bit of a pain.

Overall: As mentioned in the review...

A Must-have for small businesses with employees. Gone are the days of Spreadsheets and file cabinets

Pros: So first off, we use zenefits on a daily basis for just about all of our HR functions. The support is great for when we've run into the very rare bug, and sales is always quick to get back to me.

They regularly release new features and improve existing ones.

They are also VERY receptive to user feedback and idea suggestions.

Cons: Ya know, I'm not one to nitpick, but i have run into a few small issues lately.

Primarily, the issue we have now is that we've been on Zenefits for a few years now and have older "Legacy Pricing". We however do all HR tasks on Zenefits EXCEPT payroll.

Well fast forward a few years, their payroll product actually looks fairly promising.... until i learned that in order to start using their Payroll service, i have to first be updated to their newer more expensive billing plan.

Bah.

Overall: As a small business with only a few employees, it REALLY helps with getting our HR stuff together.

Excellent user interface for the admin and employees alike.

Pros: What I like most about Zenefits is that it allows our employee on-boarding process to be completely automated and electronic. I love it!

Cons: The software I like, but being an earlier adopter, there were many growing pains within the company which caused a lot of issues with our open enrollment for two consecutive years. We recently resigned our contract and based on what we need, went with the basic (silver?) plan, which doesn't include Vacation Tracking. We don't need all of the HR support since we're a consulting services company. With that said, I'm disappointed that we weren't grandfathered in to having that tool.

Overall: An easy to use interface and a tool that allows our employees to electronically and seamlessly on-board. I enjoy that the tool automatically reminds the end-users to complete tasks and keeps track of everything in one useful tool. I would like to see it become an intranet for employees to access company specific templates, content and tools.

Comments: Loved the idea of the concept, was basically sold on idea to have a PTO software that we could use for employees to use without a fee.. then once all were onboard, we had to pay per month and now you can't even call for assistance when you have a problem.

Pros: Has a mobile app that employees can access from virtually anywhere, can see a shared calendar that will display in outlook with employees scheduled off.

Cons: No customer service phone number, no email addresses for specific reps, customer service must be contacted online thru a job ticket (if an account is locked out, can't even submit ticket for contact and no phone number to call), managers don't have access to the employee review sections (must grant managers admin rights, which then opens the door for past requests to be deleted by an employee.. big problem), system was not set up properly and allows for managers to approve time off when employees did not have the time available.. no pop up that would ask "are you sure?" type thing, can not print an employees PTO time, multiple tabs to even get total time taken/available.

Simple to use for admins & employees love it!

Pros: As Zenefits users for the past three years, we've loved how easy the solution is for onboarding new employees. Employees have made comments like "I knew the company really 'got it' when the onboarding was so simple. It also nice to manage everything in one platform - payroll, benefits, onboarding, business intelligence, etc. Without Zenefits we would likely need an additional employee just to do paperwork. Zenefits has always been responsive to our needs as an organization and our customer success manager has been extremely helpful.

Cons: We had a rough open enrollment process with the tool, but we started earlier this year and should be in better shape. Because the tool is constantly evolving, sometimes features come and go (Zenefits got rid of an in-house stock options tool they had built and so we had to switch vendors as a result).

Comments: If you want a straight out of the box, what you see is what you get HR tool, use Zenefits. They just blew our payroll so bad, we will be finding another payroll service; still waiting on a call back for the money they owe us. We added another company with ONE employee and the payroll was wait listed. When employees run out of PTO there is no vehicle to dock the hours from their paycheck for time off without pay -- you have to do a manual calculation. Our open enrollment is October 1, we haven't even seen a plan yet -- it's August 16.

Pros: Site is relatively easy to use. Termination process is a breeze. Their staff is very nice and as well versed as they can be on a system that is extremely limited.

Cons: Payroll is terrible and very limited Time & Attendance does whatever it wants, including logging employees out randomly or never logging them out at all We do not have our insurance options to look over six weeks before open enrollment after requesting them. No vehicle to track time off that isn't paid No way to connect the E-Verify system with the on boarding process. Any changes whatsoever requested a never accommodated (We're working on that)

Recommendations to other buyers: We had no problems with Tri-net but the are a PEO, more expensive. The ASO we were using was extremely backwards in their technology. This is a difficult problem for us to solve.

Comments: It works great for new employee enrollment, however, it is sometimes hard to figure out where stuff is in each of the sections from and administrator point.

Pros: The platform works well for small companies as an HR platform. Employees can sign up for the insurance through the Zenefit's platform. This alleviates the paperwork for an admistrator. Zenefits also runs a report showing the benefits deductions for each payroll period.

Cons: The Zenefit's platform is "one size fits all", without flexibility to accommodate a smaller company's needs. The software can be very difficult to navigate. The sales people promised Zenefit's would never charge to use the platform as long as they were our insurance brokers. However, about six months after signing up they charged us for using the PTO (paid-time-off) portion of the platform (Bait & Switch). Zenefits support requires continual followup to receive an answer. Also, you have to email or chat them, there is not a customer service phone number. The Zenefit insurance brokers are not knowledgeable about insurance. They offered us a health plan that was not valid for our company, then when they figured that out, the broker commeted that "it was great that we didn't offer that plan to the employees". I expect insurance brokers to know what they are selling, not for me to tell them if a plan is valid or not in NYC.

Zenefits has greatly streamlined our onboarding process for new hires.

Pros: I like that all documents for employees can be found in one place. New hire documents, performance reviews and disciplinary actions can be accessed quickly. We also are able to keep copies of our policy manuals and employee handbooks on Zenefits for easy access by our employees.

Cons: The Zenefits platform was free to use as long as we named them as our agent of record for our healthcare benefits. Then, Zenefits changed their pricing structure about a year after we started using them. They started charging for some features that were previously free, such as ACA reporting, which was a big part of our decision to go with them to begin with. They also limited the reports we could create.

Overall: I have used Capterra in my research to find different software products and have found it to be very helpful.

Pros: I like the fully integrated HR solution Zenefits provides from onboarding to time off, time and attendance, and payroll. As our company has grown, so have our needs, and Zenefit's offerings have been just what we needed each step of the way. Payroll is so simple and quick.

Cons: It closes me out after too short an amount of time. I don't have a way to put associates on leave of absence, so I have to manually adjust time off accruals. I wish the time off information was only presented in hours, never in days. Our team works 10 or 13.3 hour days, so an 8 hour day is irrelevant in our world and causes confusion. We offer a SIMPLE IRA. I wish there was an easier way to capture an associate's contribution information than having to create custom fields.

I am a huge fan of Zenefits. Their software is easy to use and makes HR management easy.

Pros: Before I joined MAX, I did not know software like Zenefits existed. This software is intuitive, easy to use and makes employee onboarding, separation and benefits management easy to do. It completely eliminates the mounds of paper that I used to accumulate for new hires and employees. In fact, I liked it so much that I recommended it to my former employer and they are now using it as well. I also had an incredible Benefits Advisor who always seems to have an ability to answer my crazy questions with efficiency and extreme patience.

Cons: While many things about Zenefits are absolutely amazing, the benefits we currently have (we are a small company) are probably not the best option for our employee base, size and age. I believe that the change Zenefits has made to focus on software and outsource benefits to OneDigital may resolve this challenge. And we have also grown, so that should help with pricing as well.

Overall: Increased efficiency and makes HR management easy--no paperwork and everything is managed electronically. I'm a huge fan.

Overall I think the HRIS is a wonderful product. I do wish that benefit forms were easier to find

Pros: Enrollment is simple, I like having one place for Associates to have most all their information, like their personal profile with contact information. We are remote company and have associates all over the nation. I think having paid time off in Zenefits is such a pro.

It's very easy for me to see who has time off coming up for scheduling.

It's nice housing our life insurance information as part of our offerings as well.

Cons: More options to upload documents like spreadsheet for tracking expenses for employees. We also have a company sponsored dental program and I wish I could enter that information in Zenefits as well.

Would love to have all my information for my company avail in ZF for employees.

Pros: Speed of onboarding, new features, seamless integration to QuickBooks for payroll, price, automation of most things HR.

Cons: Doesn't handle international payroll yet (filing taxes, etc.)

Overall: We started using it from the beginning of forming our company (over two years ago) and have been really pleased with the amount of features and support that Zenefits has provided. With any new company, there are usually some hiccups, but, they are always quick to fix problems and always available. We initially started out by using it as a platform before using them as our broker and haven't looked back since. We have two offices in California and Arizona and it has been really easy to onboard new employees remotely.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking to automate your HR, this is a great first step. You don't even have to use them for health insurance if you don't want to switch but I highly recommend it. Goodbye paper.

Pros: Initially, like only 2 mos however, we had a personal rep and issues, nice guy - albeit many :( - were able to be discussed and taken care of almost immediately.

Cons: THEN, they farmed out their benefits to a broker. Totally useless, unresponsive, ineffective. I wanted to change to another broker to get results as Zenefits communicates MANY erroneous benefits information to our plan. And, they actually told me we HAD to use ONEDIGITAL as the broker they had decided to handle benefits stuff. NOT acceptable. Their onboarding platform CONTINUOUSLY posts the wrong information to our staff as far as pricing and expected employee contribution to their benefits plan. They have never gotten it correct. SOOOO disappointed as this poses a tremendous legal issue. Now, we can't even get a response from them. DO NOT USE ZENEFITS!!!!!! There are MUCH better companies out there.

Pros: I love the ease of use for both administrators and staff as well as having all HR information in one place. The Help and online FAQs are extensive and extremely helpful as is the help desk and response time. Payroll is a breeze, open enrollment for benefits is smooth and the Time Off module is wonderful.

Cons: The only issues we've had are when people add/remove dependents or update their Life Qualifying Events and it's only happened once a year on average. Sometimes there's a miscue in the communication between Zenefits and the healthcare provider where coverage is dropped or partly dropped. But Zenefits is very quick to resolve issues.

Overall: The ability to easily and accurately manage onboarding, offboarding, payroll, benefits.

Pros: The UI of the product is the best I have seen. It's user friendly in that regard and easy to navigate for employees. As a vendor, my Account Manager and her supervisor seem intelligent, efficient and doing the best they can with an inferior product.

Cons: They have not gotten a correct health benefits payroll deduction since November - it's April. They send you to multiple payroll specialists who you have to re-educate on the problem. I have encountered the same issue with double-deductions being pushed from Zenefits every single month. I am typically left double-checking that the second payroll of the month has been corrected; 50% of the time it has not. No one knows why our benefits deductions keep screwing up. Every time they think they fix the issue it goes wrong again. Ultimately we had to switch mid-year to a new vendor because they couldn't get anything right. This is only one of the multiple issues I have had on the benefits end of things. There isn't enough time in my day to explain to you how challenging they made open enrollment and health deductions.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would imagine it is fine for small companies with straight forward contributions and deductions. If you are a company with an HR team and any special requests as far as contributions for benefits, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. They have no idea what they are are doing, how to scale the product or handle customer support in a timely manner. What a joke/tragedy this has been for all of my employees and our company to use Zenefits.

Pros: I love the time off tracker. It's super easy for me to submit time off requests, leave a reason why and the type of time I'm requesting. I can see how many hours I've requested this year and how many I've used. As a manager, it's also very easy for me to look at the requests made from my employees.

Cons: There is absolutely no help when submitting a healthcare claim. I have an FSA and have to submit receipts sometimes. Once I submitted one that apparently the Zenefits team couldn't open. It was rejected without a reason and all I got was an email saying I needed to submit a receipt (when I already had.) I submitted again not knowing the real issue and was rejected again. I finally had to contact support to figure out the reason why it was rejected. This happened again when I didn't realize I had gotten a credit card receipt instead of an itemized receipt from my doctor. A one sentence message from Zenefits on what was missing would have saved a ton of time and headaches.

Overall: Zenefits makes it easy to manage my time off and commuter benefits but is lacking when it comes to healthcare benefits. I've had a lot of trouble uploading receipts and processing claims for my FSA. I would recommend it for everything except their healthcare management.

Pros: Helps reduce the time consumption by eliminating paper forms. In the case of requests, like for leave or for work-related, the officials get email notifications which they can instantly check and respond. There is this ClubZen area where you can interact with the other users of the application and provide feedback to the firm. You will find quite a lot of Third party integrations. The graphical user interface is clean and easy to use for both customers and the employees. It is highly customizable. You can even hire candidates, have a background check and send them to offer letters. You can check the employee¿s check in and check out times.

Pros: Zenefits helps small businesses run their HR functions similar to what a big business would do with lots of resources. Pros: Zenefits allows me to easily hire, terminate, and track all employees safely and securely. It is user friendly and allows the employee to manage all of their personal information and benefits as well as benefit selections with ease.

Cons: Zenefits does have some quirks in their system, they haven't perfected everything but every month they progress and whenever I do find a problem or glitch in the system, the customer support team and service is always very helpful.

Overall: The software takes a lot of work off of HR staff. If you use it to its full advantage, it can do the majority of payroll, insurance and benefit selections, open enrollment, hiring and termination, and employee contact information all for you.

Pros: Zenefits has provided a seamless onboarding regime! From integration with our Applicant tracking system, to signatures on employee documents, all the way through to benefit selection and benefit administration. Since Zenefits has partnered with Onedigital, Benefit admin has been wonderful with a personal benefit advocate for the company who constantly stays in touch and is extremely responsive.

Cons: The major con for us, was Payroll. We ended up having to find another payroll provider as Zenefits was not operating in Alabama for payroll, now we have a third party that is supposed to sync with Zenefits and it syncs about 75% of the time.

The platform has definitely matured!

Cons: The rising costs. I can find other systems that offer more features for less. With each additional aspect of your system now each costing their own amount, by the time you add up each module your costs are too much for a small to medium sized organization to assume.

Overall: Ease of onboarding. Simple for new hires to get into the system and turned on as an employee. The compliance tracking is nice, but unless you use the time and attendance aspect of this system, you are going to put in a lot more work to get the years 1094c's completed.

Comments: Honestly, my company is researching other companies so that we can remove Zenefits from out life.

Pros: In regards to the "free" areas of Zenefits (the ones that come with having them as your benefits broker) they are limited and pertain mainly to the basics of benefits. I do like that Zenefits can connect to our JazzHR ATS when onboarding.

Cons: I don't like that you have to pay for benefits related services such as reporting and 1099 compilation at the end of the year. This should not be an upcharge and for my company, the ability to run the 1099 reports and work with the document storage section cost for the year under the Bronze plan. Contacting support is difficult now and there is a constant revolving door with regards to their employee turnover and so it has been hard to even know who to work with when we need help.

Pros: Zenefits does a great job of providing a platform that works to fill the holes in a small business. Their compliance tools are some of my favorite.

Cons: When Zenefits transitioned to a third party benefits administrator, there was no communication to our company. The only way we knew there was a change was because the benefits admin reached out to us! The same thing happened when they switched us to a third party for COBRA administration. We found out because we were trying to solve a COBRA problem with Zenefits & halfway to the resolution the Zenefits team member let me know that they were no longer our admin. It was very frustrating.

Comments: Zenefits was a great solution for my company when we were 1 - 60 people. Once things got complex, I feel like it made more sense to move to an HRIS where employment information was easier to track and update. However, for the cost and functionality, it definitely helped our company at an early stage.

Pros: - easy to use UI - straight forward - gets everything you need done - completes background checks and a place for all employee information

Cons: - not super robost - the customer service is helpful for quick things but anything in depth they take a few days to get back to you - not supportive once you get over 100 employees (better off hiring a full-time HR person to manage all the stuff zenefits does)

Pros: I like the ease in which I can hire and even terminate employees. After initial set-up I can easily sending onboarding information to new employees who in turn seem to easily set up their account and complete all of the necessary paperwork to get started.

Cons: We don't yet utilize the Payroll platform in Zenefits, and sometimes there are issues getting employees rolled over to the platform we use. When I have these issues I try to use the chat feature but am not very successful in getting adequate assistance. It is almost like the help reps are busy and don't have time for lil old me.

Pros: The hub-spoke concept, with Zenefits as the hub and passing data to payroll, benefits, savings partners to eliminate duplicate data. Time savings and ease of use are best features.

Cons: Changing partners or not offering enough partners. I am a contract CFO and have 3 of my clients on Zenefits. Having been with Zenefits for awhile, we have had payroll integration partners change, but now 2 out of 3 use Zenefits payroll, and 401k partners change. Every time you break the hub/spoke link it creates manual entry or changing partners to stay in sync.

Overall: Time savings and offering a single source of employee HR data to employees.

Pros: Zenefits is really easy to use and implement - it did not require a large change management process or countless hours of training. Our employees enjoyed it and had easy access to information. For an affordable price, we had access to a lot of features that changed the way we ran our HR.

Cons: The software had limited capability for tracking international employees and was best suited for the US market. This was problematic as our business increased in complexity, but I believe they may be adding this functionality over time. More granular permissions would also help.

Comments: Our needs are fairly simple for a small company with under 10 employees, but we have discovered that Zenefits can't even handle some of the smaller requests we have inquired about, to totally messing up our insurance enrollment and leaving our employees having to pay out-of-pocket to doctors for the first 2 months of our plan.

Pros: PTO tracking - but now Zenefits is going to charge for this.

Cons: Poor customer service - you need to have a designated rep instead of inquiries and problems going to a general support team. Your software is too rigid for a smaller company and allows no flexibility to accommodate a smaller company's needs. The software can be very difficult to navigate. Setting up PTO has been extremely challenging. Health Insurance enrollment was a disaster in 2016.

Comments: Perfect for a small business wanting to start off their HR compliant and paperless. This software has saved me so much time, and has helped us get to a paperless environment. Zenefits isn't as 'personal' as an in-person agent, so I would say requires whoever is doing HR to be more knowledgeable about the insurance offerings (which they should be anyway IMO). It also requires employees to become a little more knowledgeable as well, rather than being spoon fed information every 6 months about "how insurance works." I would only recommend Zenefits in the instances where it integrates with Payroll.

Comments: I had the opportunity to move to the Zenefits platform from a larger HR software platform. The main reason for the move was due to budgeting constraints with our business. I was rewarded through this change by gaining a system that was easy to use on both the administration side as well as the end user side. In fact, I was given a compliment on the Zenefits platform by the head of our IT department. He commented that both the look and feel of the Zenefits platform was a huge improvement to the system that we used previously.

Pros: Employees were able to complete onboarding online which sped up the HR paperwork process as well as allows documents to be stored on the cloud. The Zenefits platform also allowed employees to update their personal, banking, tax information on their own without having to complete the work via a paper process as we had in the past.

Cons: Because Zenefits is acting as your insurance broker, you must work through them for all edits, changes, or updates. This process took longer than we had been used to because we had managed everything on our end working straight through the insurance carrier.

Recommendations to other buyers: Think about all the numerous tasks that you do regarding your employee online files, benefits, and payroll management. Then talk each process through with the Zenefits team so you understand how things work with their company so you know what to expect.

Comments: Something that would be super helpful is to add the ability to filter reports before you run them. Right now it spits out an Excel spreadsheet and then you have to manually delete the rows you don't need.

Pros: I like that it's a one-stop-shop for HR professionals. Employees onboard themselves and make sure that all the information is correct. As an employee I like the site a lot. As an admin there are some fixes that need to be made but otherwise I enjoy using it.

Cons: It's difficult to navigate to figure out which pages you need. For example, I've tried to find where our paperwork and docs like the handbook are uploaded and I can't find it. I'd like to be able to use it as a repository but I can't find out where I can upload new things.

Zenefits has been a great help to us at an affordable option. Continuous improvement since joining.

Pros: Easy to maneuver between modules. Fully integrated hiring, onboarding and payroll. Good online help allows me to get most answers I need. Quick response to questions or issues. Seamless transition of our benefit plans into Zenefits and better offerings than we had before. Payroll and PTO are the biggest bargains.

Cons: No real weakness noted. We have a small number of hourly employees that I would like to use the time reporting, but not cost justified at this time so we have to input hours worked for each employee first into a spreadsheet and then into Zenefits payroll.

Overall: Time savings in hiring, onboarding, payroll and recordkeeping. Also, payroll cost considerably better than we were paying to another third-party.

Zenefits has been invaluable to me as an HR tool.

Pros: It's the main HR hub for me. I was able to scrap 90% of my spreadsheets AND paper files once we made the switch. It's easy to use for both admin and employees, and their features are ever-expanding.

Cons: I'd be hard-pressed to find much that I do not like, but if I had to choose, I would say I'd like to add medical info and time and attendance to employee profiles much like PTO and documents are available from the profiles, rather than having to go to the medical section/time and attendance and select the employee in question.

HRIS system that allows the online storage of compliance documentation and provides best practices.

Pros: The longer we use the product, the more valuable it becomes (which I'm sure is their strategy). It becomes an invaluable tool to look at an employee's salary history, vacation usage and a valuable tool to the employees as well.

Cons: When Zenefits decided to exit the insurance broker market and become more focused on HRIS products and add-ons, the customer care dipped for us with their broker partner, leading to a rough few weeks after open-enrollment.

Overall: Organization, Information, Compliance. Provides a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.

I love the simplicity of the Zenefits platform, and their customer service is incredible.

Pros: I like the ease of use and the simplicity of the software - it handles things like time off and open enrollment that I used to manage manually in Excel spreadsheets.

Cons: Because it is a "simple" HR platform, sometimes the complexities of daily HR administration aren't supported. For example, I wanted to increase the PTO bank maximum/cap for 2 employees for a temporary basis. That's not possible in Zenefits without creating an additional PTO policy and switching employees to that policy, which I'm sure will cause some unforeseen consequences. Plus it's time consuming. In short - t's not fully customizable.

Overall: Time saved. Mistakes avoided (I used to manage some of these areas manually in spreadsheets).

Zenefits is an unethical company with no interest in anything but their profit margin.

Comments: The BBB has advised me to contact my state attorney general about Zenefits. If you've had similar issues with them, I suggest you do the same.

Pros: The interface was very easy to use, when it worked. The problem is less with the tech interface, and more a problem that's becoming more common in both healthcare and the tech industry.

Cons: Zenefits is a BBB-unaccredited company with a history of corporate scandal, whose CEO has been fined by the SEC and accused of creating a toxic culture. My experience with Zenefits was inexcusable. I paid for medical insurance directly to them for 4 months before seeing a doctor. When I did seek a doctor, I discovered Zenefits had never contacted the insurance company. My medical card was useless - they had simply pocketed my payments. I complained to the Better Business Bureau, and Zenefits ignored them. A month later, I was notified that I now had health insurance, backdated for 5 months. Imagine how useful it is when a doctor refuses to see you because they can't verify your insurance. It took several days to determine that no, I have no insurance, but 1 month from now I'll have had insurance for the past 4 months, and I've already paid for all of it! These companies aren't simply supposed to provide a tech interface. They are also supposed to conduct business in an ethical manner, providing the services that are paid for. Zenefits has never shown any interest in doing so.

Pros: The onboarding process for my employees has been very easy. I get great feedback from new employees. I like that they can manage their benefits online themselves and I stay out of the way. The reports and information I can see are generally good, though sometimes lacking detail (like tracking changes).

Cons: I have had problems in several different areas with setup of new products (adding life insurance and 401K for example). There is frequently something broken about their interface and the response time to fix things or answer questions is a joke. I've had open tickets with them for weeks and weeks that still haven't been resolved. I get lots of "we're working on it" or "we'll check into it" answers. And I've had miscalculations and missed deadlines that have affected my employee's payroll, which is really not okay. And for tracking, hiring, or paying contractors, their software needs serious work. I was told by one of their customer support people that the contractor portal is very poor and that they wouldn't recommend using it at this point.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's a great concept, and I feel like I do get value out of the system as I currently use it. However, it has required a lot more handholding than I anticipated, and I have to meticulously check over any changes and enrollments. The integrations with other companies are where most of my problems have arisen, such as calculating and communicating payroll deductions. For general staff management, and keeping track of employee census details, it's great.

Comments: I am a huge fan of Zenefits. As the HR and office manager for a non-profit school, we are growing very quickly and I needed a resource where I could streamline our on-boarding, get rid of hard copies, and manage our staff's employee files and paid time off in one place. I started using Zenefits this past August and have had a wonderful experience with the product and the customer service. Someone is willing to help and getting back to me. I find emailing is the quickest way to get a response, which is my preferred communication as well. Since I have started using Zenefits under the direction of their new CEO, they are continuing to grow and improve their already great platform. The set up time is as to be expected since not every company is the same and each company's needs are different. I am a huge fan and supporter of Zenefits and their customer service. I am excited to grow with this company and their product.

Pros: Onboarding new employees and getting all of their paperwork done takes me a few clicks of a mouse to get all of the information to the employee. I am able to manage and track PTO by just downloading a report, and most importantly, everything is done in one place.

Cons: You have to pay to use their payroll service =)

Recommendations to other buyers: If there is a glitch or something is wrong and you ask a customer service rep about it, it usually gets handled with in 24 hours. Remember you are not their only customer.

Comments: Would prefer some more true benefits advice from the benefits advisor. while she helped me a lot with this open enrollment, I felt that I was driving the discussions rather than she. I would've like more advice from her regarding which plans to target and what other companies my size are doing.

Pros: Zenefits makes onboarding and benefits enrollment paperless and easy. The third party app integrations help round out the onboarding process.

Cons: Sometimes the app integrations don't work. Third party app store is minimal. Would like integration with my current 401k provider.

Pros: Its ridiculously easy to manage and view my requested time off and remind myself of vacations and other important company policies. The company phone book is also really nice to have for ICE type events. They also recently released an iPhone app which has come in handy on multiple occasions. I could quickly request a day off from home without needing to login to my desktop or wait til I came in to work the next day and do it. Generating pay statements is also a snap. since I have direct deposit set up, anytime I need to access and remind myself what I got paid and when, I can use Zenefits.

Cons: I hate to leave off a downside, but I have not run into any issues using Zenefits. Yes, there are other services out there for this kind of thing, but Zenefits has just proven easy to use. I don't have to re-learn the UI or how to request time off (etc) everytime I log-in. Most everything else, for me, is not of much consequence.

Recommendations to other buyers: -Ease of UI. Zenefits UI is simplistic and easy to navigate. Its not bogged down with flashy or ostentatious links and everything is clearly labelled. -Features. This one can be a mixed bag. What features do you REALLY need to have a successful HR sfotware? Managing time off? Accessing bank and tax info? Check and check.

Zenefits has simple, intuitive tools to make things a bit easier on you!

Comments: Whenever I've had questions, Zenefits has always been quick to respond. Everyone I've spoken to has been rather pleasant.!

Pros: We use the free stuff and have been very impressed. I used to maintain paper employee files, but almost everything I wanted in those paper files is much easier to document in Zenefits. I also really like the health benefits administration and COBRA administration. Once the system is set up, most of the communication demands are done automatically within the system. Our employees also like that they're able to use Zenefits to make elections at open enrollment and review those elections whenever they want to.

Cons: I'd like to be able to eventually be able to use Zenefits for time and attendance and for payroll because the platform is simple and intuitive and because our employees would really like the integration with their existing Zenefits accounts. The price for us, however, is not competitive enough with our standard Quickbooks system to justify the switch.

Pros: So far, Zenefits has been great to support the needs of a growing company. The help center is great and customer service is fantastic. Clean, crisp layout and no errors in loading/commands. Very very easy to use for administrators and employees.

Cons: They limit key features, such as payroll and commuter benefits, and force you to go with their service instead of integrating with other providers. It isn't a huge con but it makes it difficult since they market themselves as lightweight, highly integratable and improves onboarding/ hr management. Just a little cumbersome as these steps in onboarding must be completed separate.

Pros: Zenefits helps small businesses run their HR functions similar to what a big business would do with more resources. It is easy to do "paper"work online like I9s, ACA filings, W-2s, COBRA administration, new hire paperwork, etc. The tool also helps companies track time and attendance, time off, and offer a full suite of benefits to employees. If we did not use zenefits we would have to hire at least 1 other person to do all the work that this software automates.

Pros: With the exception of applicant tracking, you can manage everything from this system (and they do offer integrations with ATS systems). I love how easy it is to navigate, the additional resources to help make HR life easier and the great and responsive customer service.

Cons: Formerly, some documents were out of date, but they have done a great job in updating everything. There's really nothing that I don't like.

Overall: Zenefits is great for start-ups that are looking to grow. Easy to use and employees have the ability to view personal information along with benefits, compensation, it interfaces with Expensify, Lever, and many more apps. Easy to make changes to employees profile, makes everything paperless when it comes to managing employee information.

Reports are great, you can create your own or use the ones they provide. They offer the ability to manage not only benefits but corporate liability insurance, FSA and commuter benefits. Payroll syncs easily if you use one of their partners or use Zenefits own payroll service. If your company is on a budget this is the way to go as you have insight into everything! Do away with PEO's as they are costly!

Pros: The software is very easy to navigate. Its easy to go from one module to another. Information loaded into system is automatically entered across to other modules.

Cons: Some of the product modules still have a way to go to catch up to other providers, especially in the Payroll arena. Zenefits Payroll is not able to perform some of the basics that other products have. They are also not set up well to handle multiple companies under a single umbrella.

Comments: We used Zenefits for just under 1 year. We had three major problems with them: 1. The open enrollment process was horrible. They never did anything without me prompting them. I asked them to review my renewal package. I asked them to go out for quotes. 6 weeks later, I asked them for the results. Then I had to ask 4 times for them to send me the information for approval so that we could push open enrollment out to my employees. I started the whole process in mid-October for a 1/1 start, and in mid-December I gave up and handed out paper enrollments to my employees. 2. New hire enrollments - Before Zenefits, when I had a new hire who enrolled in our medical and dental, the enrollment would be completed within a few days of them turning in their paper form to me. With Zenefits, it took up to 3 months. This happened with multiple employees, it wasn't an isolated event. 3. The contributions they pushed through to my payroll processor were frequently wrong. They even pushed through changes AFTER I called them and changed my broker on record. I could never trust that they would get the deductions right.

Pros: Paperless on-boarding.

Cons: Trust. I couldn't trust any of the deductions that Zenefits pushed through to my payroll. I couldn't trust them to get my new hires enrolled in benefits in a timely fashion. I spent more time babysitting Zenefits and double checking my employee deductions than I did managing it myself.

Comments: Honestly I like the product. I wish my company had a larger budget so we can add all the functionalities we could use to the system ( which could potentially enhance my experience).

Pros: I like that it is a one stop shop for HR needs. Very convenient for admin and employees. It is a very comprehensive system that ensures all steps/procedures are checked off and keeps us in compliance.

Cons: Can be a little clunky and can require additional unnecessary clicks that could be easily resolved with better UI functions. Not as intuitive as it could be. Servers slow to load at times (not internet related). Support is more difficult to reach now, while I understand it can help their operations, sometimes just getting on the phone real quick for assistance is what is needed, instead we have to wait for a call back. Also so many additional costs now.

The transition to use Zenefits was seemless. It has been easy to use. I recommend Zenefits.

Pros: The software is easy to use and understand. There are constant improvements and upgrades, but it is always easy to use and understand. The program answers your questions as if you are working with someone on the other side of the program to assure you things are going well and that you completed the task.

Pros: Extremely easy to use. When using the payroll system the software emails the employee reminders for submitting time sheets before payroll is approved. The software stores all of our personal information securely. It also allows access to some information about the company or employees in regards to department breakdowns and heads of departments. There is an app so it makes it easier for people to use the software.

Cons: I have not really had any issues with this software and I think if there was a problem it would be really easy to get help with all the ways they offer support

Pros: New hire onboarding works- but not great. Online Customer service responds quickly when needed. Not sure else to add here.

Pros: The platform it's easy to use. It was also easy to implement. It communincates smoothly with the payroll provider(ADP) through API. As long as the product is free to use - I would use it.

Cons: Modifying templates could be a little bit trciky. The health insurance part is done through another company One Digital. They do their thing to get you enrolled but the input from them after that is minimal.

Overall: It's a free( most of the time ) platform.

Pros: We utilized this solution at a Series B funded startup at the time and the major influence for selecting Zenefits was due to price point and customization. You are able to keep clean employee files, documents, and have new hires e-sign their paperwork.

Cons: Sometimes the system was very clunky, we were not able to do certain things and some users would have different views, although the same permissions. Support was very poor here. Although we used this system during 2015 when there was a lot of internal turmoil at Zenefits. Overall we made it work!

Pros: Zenefits has helped our business tremendously by consolidating 4-5 systems into 1. Now we have a centralize dashboard that my team can log into to check the status of the new hire from offer letter all the way to signing up for benefits..etc. The ability to streamline your internal processes and paperwork are there, but you do have to set it up yourself. Once you do I guarantee it's worth every penny.

Cons: Lot of new features do roll out, but those updates are noted within newsletter but some of them are not even revealed.

Zenefits has a lot of potential.

Pros: The user interface is great! We have received great feedback from our employees on the ease of use, especially on requesting time off.

Payroll is pretty simple to run as well.

Cons: The ability to re-hire someone and combine employee history.

The lack of customizable reports - it would be nice to just edit or copy and edit some of the existing reports as the custom report section does not have as much functionality as those reports offer.

Being able to print pay stubs during payroll processing (i.e. for use with final paychecks)

Unless someone is hourly, there is no where to enter hours worked in the profile for those that work under 40 hours but more than 30.

Cons: it is sometimes hard to find how to make changes. I don't like not being able to call ONE particular person if I have issues.

Overall: Zenefits frees up administrative time for me. It allows me to easily hire someone and or terminate someone. It also produces some easily accessible and easy to read reports that are important to my HR practice.

Pros: The products goals is really to allow employees to handle all HR related decisions online so that HR reps don't need to handle. Employees can enroll and terminate benefits, address changes, vacation requests all from their computer or mobile device. Also all offer letters and signing of electronic documents goes directly through zenefits. This is especially helpful for automatically getting all employees to sign your policy book, non solicitation etc. without needing any paper copies or scanning into a company database.

Cons: You will be assigned an Account Manager who is very responsive and good. However a lot of more technical questions, like why is there an issue with an employees benefits, need to be handled by specialists that can take a good few days or more to get an answer with. Items that need to be looked into deeper do take a bit of time

Recommendations to other buyers: For a small HR department this software is great, really makes benefits administration and vacation requests a breeze and takes off HR. We also use their payroll which is surprisingly easy and effective. I think it is as good as many versions of ADP I've used and is lower cost.

Zenefits is an intuitive, easy to use product that has also increased productivity.

Pros: One place for all HR paperwork. East to sign up for insurances. Employees can easily reach out for support on their own instead of going through HR.

Cons: There are time where a feature in their wheelhouse is not added, but would save me a ton of time. Sometimes issues take a long time to be resolved. Still unsure how i feel about OneDigital integration/change.

Comments: Zenefits has helped our start up company manage like a big company. I love the HR management, onboarding, benefits management, compliance, and time off aspects in particular and so do our employees. Pros: Easy to use, pretty intuitive product with a great support team that deals with all the issues that arise with insurance brokers. As a hiring manager, hiring and onboarding is extremely easy and makes it so I don't have to worry about anything except obtaining i-9 documents on day 1. Every tool they have offer is very user friendly. Also, its FREE.

Cons: Limited relationships as far as insurance brokers go but we were able to find something that worked for our company. Adding new documents/offer letters during the hiring process takes a few days which can slow down the process. Mobile app has very limited functionality. Account Managers can be hard to get a hold of some times and its easy to just go to the Support Team with questions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take into consideration that this is a free product when comparing it to other, usually expensive, HRIS platforms. If you want all the bells and whistles, you'll pay for it but our company has been overall very happy with Zenefits.

My employees work hard and I like to give them a great HR experience. Zenefits was not it.

Our experience was horrible migrating from a PEO to Zenefits for HR management.

Specific issues:

Time and Attendance never synced to payroll correctly causing very unhappy employees. They pushed lots of manual time and attendance calculations (overtime) for each payroll period to us.

Medical and dental employee deductions didn¿t sync when we employees selected insurance from Zenefits. This caused high then low payrolls (and they got shorted on cash the way healthcare is tax deductible when ¿make up¿ deductions we¿re made).

Also, the worst part was the buying insurance through them. We signed up with them on January for an April migration. They neglected gathering key information which kept our employees without health insurance for 15 days after we canceled the previous service. They did make it retroactive¿but employees had no insurance for 15 days¿and complicated manual insurance submittals. They took no responsibility for their negligence and pushed all costs of their mistakes to us.

Responsiveness: Their team typically responded the next day on the most urgent issues (rarely same day)¿and normal issues required multiple follow-ups on our side to get updates. Not good for urgent payroll related issues caused by their sub-par reporting.

We purchased ZenPayroll through them as their preferred payroll provider, but they provided no guidance on how to configure it with Zenefits.

If you need cheap, Zenefits may fit the bill. If you want happy employees¿run, don¿t want from Zenefits.

Pros: Zenefits tracks all of the details and organizes everything in a clear way. It makes our company look modern and together when we present ourselves to new hires. Pros: I like how quickly they implement your suggestions. We would request for certain features that were not yet available to be considered in future development, and within a couple of weeks our ideas were added to the software. I like how they simplified the onboarding process. For the most part their HR records platform works pretty well.

Cons: The problems I came across were from using the benefit platform. The customer service process needs work. You have no direct contact (broker) to call/email when you have issues. There is a generic email address and phone number and a random rep will respond. You may have multiple conversations going at once with different people. There are also quite a few errors that have been made throughout our time with Zenefits, i.e. benefit plans from the previous year were not re-uploaded during open enrollment, therefore, were unavailable to our employees, enrollment apps were not sent to the carrier on time so employees who thought they had coverage did not, eligibility dates were not correct so benefit enrollments were not completed on time and the ACA reporting was a complete mess. In the end I do not trust Zenefits to get what I need and do as much work possible directly with the carriers.

Recommendations to other buyers: This company has a great concept, however, they have many growing pains to endure and unless you can afford to be a part of the trial by error learning curve, I would suggest going a different direction until they are more established.

Pros: I like the concept of the service and the pricing is good. Their initial sales and on-boarding team was also very helpful.

Cons: I'm not quite sure where to start with this. There are parts of the company I like, but others I do not. I despise the fact that they don't have a development team that can focus on the product. It's beyond clear that management sees sales as the end-all. It helped them bootstrap their growth and raise a large investment round, but their lack of focus on development and support will be their death.

Recommendations to other buyers: Until they get their act together on the development side and develop a piece of software that actually does something, I'd look elsewhere. Many of the payroll companies are integrating an onboarding and offboarding workflow into their systems, and their products and attention to detail on the software side is leaps and bounds beyond Zenefits. Zenefits is a great concept, with good marketing and sales. But behind that, it's a messy patchwork of integrations with few people that know what is actually happening.

Pros: Simplifies all of the paperwork that comes with onboarding new employees. Before, we used to collect everything on paper from tax forms, to work rules, uniform policies, sexual harassment policies and more. Now, we no longer have to save any of this info on paper and can recall it at any time. Collecting documentation from new employees is much easier - most seem to have no problem completing the information.

Cons: The website is VERY slow. Also, there could be a better manager app. Lastly , sometimes employees are unable to complete their information because documents won't upload or signatures wont accept. It works great 90% of the time, but there are bugs sometimes.

Very happy, but seems to not meet growing needs.

Pros: This solution is cost effective and allows HR to have employee files, track PTO, push policy acknowledgements, etc. This is a very basic HR solution with minimal cost.

Cons: There is little to no customer support, you will work with several individuals to resolve a single issue. High turnover in account managers or points of contact at Zenefits. The system has issues on both the HR user side and the employee side in terms of functionality. Reports and custom reports are hard to pull. Policies often lose their format when uploaded with a 72 hour upload time. Zenefits does not communicate with ADP. You cannot re-activate old hires or profiles in the system (interns, seasonal workers, etc). This has been a cost effective solution for us, but there have been may issues above.

Recommendations to other buyers: The cost (or lackthereof) is a huge benefit as a startup. If you have the budget to explore other options I would say definitely evaluate those.

Zenfits is easy to use and looking forward to hopefully integrating payroll and performance models

Pros: Before Zenefits, I was using array spreadsheets and Word documents to manage our many HR processes, and it would take hours to onboard someone. Now it literally takes less than two minutes, and we have all our employee data synced across payroll, health benefits, disability benefits, and PTO. We got great advice from Zenefits as we moved to a group health insurance plan and also to a new short term and long term disability plan. The software is great. It's free and has greatly simplified our processes, which results in simplifying my life. Super happy.

Cons: Their customer service can sometimes be slower than I'd like.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do a basic check to make sure they can integrate with your existing infrastructure (payroll for instance), and if they don't, I'd consider changing platforms so everything can be centralized. We changed our infrastructure to work with Zenefits, and as a result, we have a really nice and easy setup for HR management.

Zenefits has been a great help with our ACA reporting. They have made things easy peasy!

Pros: It is so easy to use. I have never heard of a online software that does the onboarding for new hires, takes care of clocking in, schedules days off. It is so easy no wonder my employer uses it. it even reminds you if you forget to clock out.

Cons: I do not know if Zenefits keeps track of our paystubs, but it would be nice, my current employer does not have this benefit turned on so whenever I want a copy of my paystub, I have to ask him for it.

Cons: We've had several repeat errors relating to tax on payroll which has been frustrating. Service has been mixed - sometimes it's really awesome, other times it's been terrible. They need to get payroll 100% sorted out to avoid issues with payments.

Overall: Saves me time!

Pros: As a start-up, it was the assumption that we would outsource HR and Payroll because of the administrative overhead, complexity with compliance, and trying to offer a variety of plans to meet individual employees needs combined with the costs of benefits and their administration. The benefits of the zenefits solution are clear in the ability from the onset in onboarding to offer employee self-service, which allows employees to make informed decisions, actively manage their accounts. There is a significant depth of add-on modules to grow with organizations' complexity and expand into comprehensive HR solutions in managing performance. There is an extensive tutorial library of salient human capital related content to better engage with employees throughout the lifecycle.

Cons: We're new into the evaluation so it will take some time to come up to speed on the breadth, depth of full capabilities - including integration with other systems in the future. Right now, it suits a start-up to get up and running on a full onboarding experience with comprehensive benefits and has the capacity to scale as we grow.

Comments: Overall, we would definitely recommend Zenefits, particularly for smaller organizations like ours, since it is efficient to have all HR handled in one place.

Pros: Lots of features, and now that payroll processing is possible, it has become so comprehensive that everything is in one place. Pricing is still affordable, even though they now charge for features that used to be free. The new interface is relatively easy to use, and we definitely appreciate the continued efforts to improve the program.

Cons: Customer service remains an area for improvement. The quality is definitely inconsistent, and unfortunately, we've had more bad experiences than positive ones. There's lots of being bounced from one person/department to another, and occasionally unresponsiveness--it was a nightmare renewing our insurance plans.

The portal is super helpful for several reasons. The knowledge of the support team is lacking.
