### "Cost me so much time!"

We used Zenefits for just under 1 year. We had three major problems with them: 1. The open enrollment process was horrible. They never did anything without me prompting them. I asked them to review my renewal package. I asked them to go out for quotes. 6 weeks later, I asked them for the results. Then I had to ask 4 times for them to send me the information for approval so that we could push open enrollment out to my employees. I started the whole process in mid-October for a 1/1 start, and in mid-December I gave up and handed out paper enrollments to my employees. 2. New hire enrollments - Before Zenefits, when I had a new hire who enrolled in our medical and dental, the enrollment would be completed within a few days of them turning in their paper form to me. With Zenefits, it took up to 3 months. This happened with multiple employees, it wasn't an isolated event. 3. The contributions they pushed through to my payroll processor were frequently wrong. They even pushed through changes AFTER I called them and changed my broker on record. I could never trust that they would get the deductions right.

Pros

Paperless on-boarding.

Cons

Trust. I couldn't trust any of the deductions that Zenefits pushed through to my payroll. I couldn't trust them to get my new hires enrolled in benefits in a timely fashion. I spent more time babysitting Zenefits and double checking my employee deductions than I did managing it myself.

### "I love not worrying about doing payroll "

It solves my payroll tax requirement, which is out of my expertise.

Pros

It is so easy to login and approve payroll. All taxes are automatically calcualted, both removed from employee pay and the company paid share is submitted to Fed, State and local levels.

Cons

I have to pay for 5 users/employees minimum, as a small startup under that size.

### "Easy and Convenient"

Very positive. I have never used an outside service for basic HR functions before, but was pleasantly surprised at how much work Zenefits saves me by letting employees enter their own info.

Pros

Easy to use - Managers can access/input/share the info they need, employees can fill out their own info which saves HR a lot of work. Customer Service can be contacted easily. Reports/Info can be accessed easily. Reminders are emailed to you if any necessary information is missing.

Cons

I believe Zenefits does not have the ability to pay third party garnishments directly.

I've been using it for about 18 months now and have had a great experience overall, both with the customer service and with the online community.

Pros

It's a very customizable service that allows my business to easily onboard new employees, track their required credentials, and keep track of all of the essential pieces of employment paperwork that we require from them. The customs fields feature is especially handy.

Cons

Pricing for some of the add-on features seems a little high. I would like to utilize the Performance Management feature for my small business that primarily employees part-time staff members, but the increase in monthly cost isn't yet justifiable.

Pros

So far, Zenefits has been great to support the needs of a growing company. The help center is great and customer service is fantastic. Clean, crisp layout and no errors in loading/commands. Very very easy to use for administrators and employees.

Cons

They limit key features, such as payroll and commuter benefits, and force you to go with their service instead of integrating with other providers. It isn't a huge con but it makes it difficult since they market themselves as lightweight, highly integratable and improves onboarding/ hr management. Just a little cumbersome as these steps in onboarding must be completed separate.

### "Great timesaver"

It's been pretty great. The benefits outweigh the annoyances.

Pros

Zenefits is a great way to save time. Onboarding new staff is smooth, intuitive, and paper-free. We use it to have all staff sign a handbook and collect information for taxes, benefits, and fun. It's been a game changer regarding time off as well.

Cons

There have been bugs and inconsistencies that have created confusion from time to time, and they're very much still working on the product.

### "All-in-one software for managing a large team"

Pros

I like the myriad ways that it can be used to manage our various teams. We have a mixture of employee types (hourly vs. salaried, part-time vs. full-time, etc), and Zenefits serves our HR needs for all of them

Cons

I wish that you could create a template for onboarding for certain types of hires. We hire a lot of PT workers, and answer the same questions in the same manner on a daily basis. Having a template would help speed up our onboarding process considerably

Pros

With the exception of applicant tracking, you can manage everything from this system (and they do offer integrations with ATS systems). I love how easy it is to navigate, the additional resources to help make HR life easier and the great and responsive customer service.

Cons

Formerly, some documents were out of date, but they have done a great job in updating everything. There's really nothing that I don't like.

Pros

The software is very easy to navigate. Its easy to go from one module to another. Information loaded into system is automatically entered across to other modules.

Cons

Some of the product modules still have a way to go to catch up to other providers, especially in the Payroll arena. Zenefits Payroll is not able to perform some of the basics that other products have. They are also not set up well to handle multiple companies under a single umbrella.

Pros

Zenefits is very to use and the onboarding process is a breeze.

Cons

Zenefits reporting has gotten better, but still has some room for improvement. Additionally, they could do a better job with year-end comp process/reporting.

I love that Zenefits is very user friendly since it's straightforward and easy to use.

Cons

I would like the Time & Attendance app to be updated. I very much preferred the old version of the app because it was easier to use, whereas the current version is more time consuming for employees to fill out (ie. for some reason it's separated by weeks, it's less intuitive to add notes to each time entry - which is something we ask employees to do).

Pros

The software is comprehensive and allows us to make one purchase for everything we need. The price is right and fair

Cons

We had no cons until recently when we submitted a support request to the tax department. Some state taxes went unpaid by Zenefits Payroll. State governments give a very short period of time before they begin levying 10% + interest. (In our case we had 10 days to rectify the issue or send a response). So far we are 21 days into our support request and have not received any response other than the initial confirmation of receipt. We followed up 8 business days in, and were met with silence. This will likely be a the reason we change software in 2021.

### "On-Boarding Process Is Outstanding"

Pros

Once you go through the initial set-up process, the automation is wonderful. The onboarding process from the Offer Letter right through to the I-9 verification on day 1 happens automatically. The system will take care of presenting the new employee with any required documents that need their signature and keep them safely stored. The system collects the employees' data including bank data for automatic payroll deposits. Background checks can also be set-up to occur automatically.

Cons

We were one of the early subscribers to this software and the system was free to use as long as Zenefits handled the employees' health benefits. There is now a charge to use the system. Even with that, it is well worth is. We use it for onboarding, employee clock in and out and payroll.

Overall, having Zenefits is great. It's easy to integrate the time off with your Outlook calendars so everyone knows when people are out and the access to your information is easy when you need it. The mobile app is also super beneficial because if you need something on the go, it's already there and is a similar experience to the website.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it's easy to use. Everything is super straightforward and you don't have to hunt a ton for what you need. The time off section is nice because it clearly shows you how you're using your time, including your work from home and sick time. Your benefits information, employee information, and any tax information is available right on the homepage if you need anything, which makes it a lot easier for when you're searching for the exact thing you need.

Cons

The only thing I'd really like to see improved is the link out and resources to the medical insurance and benefits. This could be due to how our company's individual insurance is set up, but I do often think there is an opportunity for more resources for the insurance!

### "Great for us!"

Perfect for a small business wanting to start off their HR compliant and paperless. This software has saved me so much time, and has helped us get to a paperless environment. Zenefits isn't as 'personal' as an in-person agent, so I would say requires whoever is doing HR to be more knowledgeable about the insurance offerings (which they should be anyway IMO). It also requires employees to become a little more knowledgeable as well, rather than being spoon fed information every 6 months about "how insurance works." I would only recommend Zenefits in the instances where it integrates with Payroll.

Pros

Cons

Only worth it if it integrates with your payroll provider (worth switching to one that does) Probably not great for very large companies Replaces your existing Broker (I guess this could go in the Pro column) Less hand holding during open enrollment period

Pros

Zenefits offers multiple HR processes in one system in a very user-friendly format. When we consolidated payroll, on-boarding, time tracking, FSA, and benefits admin, in one system, we saved time and paid less than what we were paying for all of the other systems combined. The ease of use of the system is really the special sauce though. It ensures the end-user keeps their individual information up-to-date.

Cons

Customer support could be better. When we first joined we were able to pay for a premium support package but that option is no longer available. Wait times have been long lately.

Easy payroll services All-in-one benefit admin

Pros

The user interface is great! We have received great feedback from our employees on the ease of use, especially on requesting time off. Payroll is pretty simple to run as well.

Cons

The ability to re-hire someone and combine employee history. The lack of customizable reports - it would be nice to just edit or copy and edit some of the existing reports as the custom report section does not have as much functionality as those reports offer. Being able to print pay stubs during payroll processing (i.e. for use with final paychecks) Unless someone is hourly, there is no where to enter hours worked in the profile for those that work under 40 hours but more than 30.

I would not recommend Zenefits to anyone! They have a lot of work to really compete with other platforms that provide real time customer service and you don't have to sit and wait for them to call you.

Pros

The platform itself is pretty easy to use and the dashboard is nice. The payroll portion is easy to use, but for hourly employees, payroll can not be run until the absolute end of the payroll. Even if you wanted to process payroll a little early, you can't.

Cons

The customer service is awful. If you send a "help" email, you will NEVER get a response. If you request a call-back, you will get that, but if the agent tells you they will send a confirmation email, don't expect it because it will never come. Their benefits team is super slow at responding to benefits questions. I end up calling the carriers to get my answers. And payroll....if you submit your payroll at the 2:00 PST and they receive it at 2:01 PST, you payday gets pushed one day. I don't understand why they require four days before payroll processing for direct deposits. The customer service team are mostly really awful to speak with; they dismiss you like you are wasting their time.

Pros

The ease of use for both employee and administrator is fantastic. New hires report an extremely pleasant onboarding experience through the platform. The automation is great and most things work extremely well. When they don't, my account manager is incredibly responsive and helpful. I absolutely love that the product team has taken several of my suggestions for improved functionality and implemented them.

Cons

Document storage doesn't work well for our use case. As a law firm, we have significant needs in this area and the current system is inadequate and cumbersome. Our need is greater than the typical use case. I preferred being able to call customer support when I had issues (outside of what my account manager handles). Submitting an issue through the portal and awaiting an email reply or call back (depending on which option is selected) is not ideal. Highly recommend a return to the prior method because it felt more available and 'real time'.
