CEO Used the software for: ### "My employees work hard and I like to give them a great HR experience. Zenefits was not it." April 30, 2015 1.0 Cons: No accountability, buggy platform, poor support. Pros: Cheap Our experience was horrible migrating from a PEO to Zenefits for HR management. Specific issues: Time and Attendance never synced to payroll correctly causing very unhappy employees. They pushed lots of manual time and attendance calculations (overtime) for each payroll period to us. Medical and dental employee deductions didn't sync when we employees selected insurance from Zenefits. This caused high then low payrolls (and they got shorted on cash the way healthcare is tax deductible when 'make up' deductions we're made). Also, the worst part was the buying insurance through them. We signed up with them on January for an April migration. They neglected gathering key information which kept our employees without health insurance for 15 days after we canceled the previous service. They did make it retroactive'but employees had no insurance for 15 days'and complicated manual insurance submittals. They took no responsibility for their negligence and pushed all costs of their mistakes to us. Responsiveness: Their team typically responded the next day on the most urgent issues (rarely same day)'and normal issues required multiple follow-ups on our side to get updates. Not good for urgent payroll related issues caused by their sub-par reporting. We purchased ZenPayroll through them as their preferred payroll provider, but they provided no guidance on how to configure it with Zenefits. If you need cheap, Zenefits may fit the bill. If you want happy employees'run, don't want from Zenefits. Review Source DP Diana P. April 11, 2018 5.0 Pros There is so much to love - ease of configuration, plug and play functionality, instantaneous user access, complete control of documents, transparency to users, intuitive and consistent interfaces - the back-end touches that make this system so simple to use. New hires consistently comment on the simplicity of their onboarding and the professional appearance of the documents and emails they receive through Zenefits. I also appreciate that COBRA and other compliance requirements are seamlessly handled for me. I can be an HR department of one with Zenefits as my HR Coordinator. As a small nonprofit, we look for value and long-term investment in everything we buy - this has been one of the best and most effective purchases we have made. Cons I haven't found anything that I don't like or that I like less than something else. The business analytics tool makes running reports so easy, and the performance management app helps us schedule and record reviews and evaluations. Pros Transitioning to Zenefits has made on-boarding, payroll, and benefits administration a dream. It houses customizable offer letters and integrates with our company apps (Slack and G-suite) so that each employee has all their paperwork filled out before they even come it. Zenefits has truly taken the paperwork and busywork out of HR for us! Cons There's nothing I don't like about Zenefits, but I'd like to see them integrate an applicant tracking system so that we can house the entire employee experience in one platform. Pros This program ties together most of our HR needs into one platform, making it easier for HR staff and employees to access the information they need. We process our payroll through Zenefits and they offered some 401k third party company options, which allows those benefits to be seamlessly integrated. Cons Support can be difficult to get online at times. They have a chat feature, which is most convenient for me as an administrator, but the wait times can be long or the chat request may be converted over to an email. This is a problem I have noticed over the past 3-4 months. It allows me to easily hire someone and or terminate someone. It also produces some easily accessible and easy to read reports that are important to my HR practice. Pros The employees can go in and make their own administrative changes such as, direct deposit and/or tax changes. I also like the hiring process. Again, from an administrative point of view, it really streamlines the process for me. Cons it is sometimes hard to find how to make changes. We have enjoyed getting good rates and our employees like the user friendly benefits open enrollment process. Pros I like Zenefits because it is an HRIS system and benefits portal all in one. Zenefits makes it very easy to manage our employees and manage their benefits enrollment. We also love that Zenefits help with the third party Combra Complete to help with Cobra coverage. As our company has grown, so have our needs, and Zenefit's offerings have been just what we needed each step of the way. Payroll is so simple and quick. Cons It closes me out after too short an amount of time. I don't have a way to put associates on leave of absence, so I have to manually adjust time off accruals. I wish the time off information was only presented in hours, never in days. Our team works 10 or 13.3 hour days, so an 8 hour day is irrelevant in our world and causes confusion. We offer a SIMPLE IRA. I wish there was an easier way to capture an associate's contribution information than having to create custom fields. I love that all the deductions, contributions, taxes, etc are all calculated automatically and and are monitored for adjustments after every pay run. Also, having the "full service" option for them to take care of our unemployment insurance - including those out of state is wonderful. Cons General and not made specifically for anyone company so you have to adapt it to your environment. It's not hard, most of the work is done for you. But, some things you might want to customize. Updating your personal information is also extremely easy, and working for a mid-sized company, I have referred to the Organization Chart many times. Great software. The number of problems and the time we have spent on overhead attempting to resolve issues makes this system frustrating to use at best. Overall there are other systems out there that can do much more for the same or better cost, with a tremendously better customer support system. Pros I like that benefits platform connects directly to the carrier as well as our payroll provider, QuickBooks. Cons Connections to benefits and payroll resulted in numerous errors due to incorrect data being transmitted. Customer service team is incompetent and unhelpful. Multiple issues over the last 2 year have ended in their team saying “we don’t know” with little regard for making things right for us. May 19, 2018 1.0 Pros Initially, like only 2 mos however, we had a personal rep and issues, nice guy - albeit many :( - were able to be discussed and taken care of almost immediately. Cons THEN, they farmed out their benefits to a broker. Totally useless, unresponsive, ineffective. I wanted to change to another broker to get results as Zenefits communicates MANY erroneous benefits information to our plan. And, they actually told me we HAD to use ONEDIGITAL as the broker they had decided to handle benefits stuff. NOT acceptable. Their onboarding platform CONTINUOUSLY posts the wrong information to our staff as far as pricing and expected employee contribution to their benefits plan. They have never gotten it correct. SOOOO disappointed as this poses a tremendous legal issue. Now, we can't even get a response from them. DO NOT USE ZENEFITS!!!!!! There are MUCH better companies out there. It is being used to communicate company wide details and updates. It was implemented to save time and money for our entire organization. Pros I love Zenefits as an HR platform. I am currently using it at my current company and it is a fantastic software. First it is very easy to use and understand. Zenefits makes it very easy to also submit requests and communicate with your superiors and other people in the company. It is very easy for us to save time and keep up to date with company wide time off. January 28, 2019 5.0 After the initial issues with payroll, using Zenefits was very easy and streamlined our hiring process. We’ve only had to use the termination process a handful of times, but when we did, it worked flawlessly. The dashboard is very neat and organized and setup is easy as well. Pros This product is extremely easy to use. Everything is online, so we were able to go completely paperless. The onboarding process is extremely easy and very comprehensive. The termination process is just as easy, with only a few buttons to click and you’re done! There are constantly updates being made to the system, so it’s always rich with new features. Cons We initially had a bit of an issue with moving our payroll from our bank (what we initially used) to Zenefits, but once the issues were ironed out, it worked well. The new features sometimes throw you off and make you have to relearn the system, but they’re always beneficial changes, so it’s worth it. Review Source Tim R. Cons Recently, we started utilizing the platform’s payroll feature. Payroll is satisfactory, but missing a few features that would greatly assist in our monthly operations.
