We are able to handle a professional level of HR services with very limited time on a day-to-day basis. It has really helped to automate the way we do benefits enrollment, employee time & attendance (which happens to flow right into payroll), managing PTO, and the employee onboarding process is so easy to do for both the employee and employer. Pros The level of integration and ease of use on the user end makes this a great solution for any employee. Cons If you’re using Zenefits as a payroll provider, the level of customization is somewhat limited. Will be switching out at my next chance. UNfortunately, they lock you up an year at a time by collecting the fees upfront for the whole year. I think this gives them the opportunity to underfund support - as the customer can not walk out fast enough. Payroll processing is complex and I advise that you do not repeat my mistake of letting inexperienced companies like Zenefits Pros Onboarding software is one of the best. They take care of employee onboarding process from offer to job start. This is the only part of Zenefits I like. Cons Their payroll system leaves a lot to be desired. I really wish now that I stuck to Paychex. Zenefits failed to file my IRS 941 for 1Q19. The customer support process I am going through is awful. It is hard to reach a rep, and once you do, they tell you they can't help with some issues (e.g. payroll tax payments) directly. They can not give you a tax contact to work with directly. The CSR sends the info to the tax team and I was told it takes over a month to process the missing 941. IN the meanwhile, I am getting nasty notices from IRS and am likely to have to pay penalties. While Zenefits claims they will compensate for the penalties, it is not comforting that our company payroll is in the hands of a company that can't file 941s and can not respond to customer queries for a month. They lock you in for an year at a time - so you can't even escape whenever you want. Reason for choosing TriNet HR Plus Combined HR and payroll in one place. Although I regret the choice greatly now. You can tell the functionality and comprehensiveness that the HR department needs is there, but that's where my positive review ends. I recently signed my company onto their platform sold on specific features like PTO. I selected Zenefits BECAUSE these functions where part of their free platform and I could add on what I needed (for a fee) as I went. I partnered with JAZZ their ATS recommendation and put all my eggs in Zenefits basket, which was a BIG mistake. Their synch of my payroll took 5 weeks (was supposed to take 2 at most) and was ported over as a complete mess with wages and employees all mixed up, this took weeks to fix. Finally, when all of that was sorted out they changed their free base plan that included PTO (one of the major reasons I signed on) to a paid plan! BAIT and SWITCH! You would think they would grandfather their old clients in or create a bare-bones option that still gives you a remnant of the function you were sold on. I would recommend a company that has better support and can DELIVER on what they have their sales people sell. Their client support kept insinuating I was lucky to have anything left for free! Terrible way to handle the situation! Pros The platform itself seems user-friendly, I did not have a chance to use all the features since the plan changed but overall seems fluid, and clear to use. Cons Horrible customer support takes literal DAYS to reply. They are also on Pacific time but do not start replying until 9 am their time, horrible for each coaster. Feels like they want to squeeze money out of you. If they cannot afford to run a free platform then they should not offer it, not punish the client later for their bad decisions. As a consultant, I have worked with other organizations since that are using other HRIS/payroll tools and greatly miss my Zenefits heyday. Pros NEARLY EVERYTHING. From benefits administration to onboarding to PTO tracking it literally organized and kept almost all areas of HR automated in a user-friendly, highly customizable manner. Cons We had to give up our long-time relationship with our broker. That was part of the deal. We worked through their 3rd party relationship for ATS and performance management platforms, but we liked both tools, so it didn't feel awkward. I like using it out of all the work software I have ever used this one has been the most straightforward and simple. I have previously used Paycom and Workday. Pros I love the grid design, you can click on the box you need (medical, dental, time) and it takes you to that option of the software. It is super straightforward and easy to use. the login process is simple and logs you on quickly. You can request time off, view your time allowances and update your time worked. When clocking in it takes a picture of you so it is impossible to falsely clock in as some people do that when working if they're late, this feature makes it impossible to do. Cons I had an issue when first signing up and did not get contacted about resolving it ever. I'm not sure why I was never contacted but I was able to still proceed forward with employment despite the hold up. Review Source KP Kim P. " April 16, 2018 4.0 I have used Capterra in my research to find different software products and have found it to be very helpful. Pros I like that all documents for employees can be found in one place. New hire documents, performance reviews and disciplinary actions can be accessed quickly. We also are able to keep copies of our policy manuals and employee handbooks on Zenefits for easy access by our employees. Cons The Zenefits platform was free to use as long as we named them as our agent of record for our healthcare benefits. Then, Zenefits changed their pricing structure about a year after we started using them. They started charging for some features that were previously free, such as ACA reporting, which was a big part of our decision to go with them to begin with. I also like that they have many oppourtuntity to learn more about the software and other HR topics through training sessions and seminars. Pros I liked how user-friendly the software is to use. When onboarding new staff, the Zenefits software walks the new hire through all of the steps in an easy and intuative way. It also cuts down on the amount of emails and calls it takes to hire remote staff. I also like that it is a more secure way for remote hires to share sensative information like banking and soical securtiy numbers. Cons The software isn't compatable with our payroll or insurance benefits. It would be nice to have all of that in one place but that is not possible for us right now. Easy to use and easy to maneuver. Has the ability to enhance the time clock approving an employee's time-off request. Pros Zenefits was very easy software to use. It made it easy for me to be able to request time off, be able to view my upcoming schedule and also view who was going to be out for the day. This is a great tool for any company to help keep track of each employees hours and days off. Cons At this time, Zenefits has been a great software to use. I am unable to state any disadvantages. This is important when you can be on-boarding 50-100 new employees in a day. It also allows management access to important HR information and the ability to view all relevant employee information in one place. Cons The interface between Zenefits and third party payroll systems needs significant work. Most of our overhead employee support is around the payroll interface. We have been using Zenefits or last three months. 1st month it took to get used to and configure all of the integrations. Only support we got was via email which was 48-72 hour per email. which has led to non compliance tax submissions, delay in employee pay dates . In correct pay checks and lot of frustrations. May 24, 2019 5.0 Payroll has gone from pushing a button and crossing our fingers to actually having confidence in what is being processed every payperiod. The accuracy, and confidence in the accuracy is amazing. We were with a giant HRIS/payroll vendor, but really couldn't tell how they were doing things, so it was very hard to tell when something was going wrong (e.g. PTO balances being incorrect). Pros Zenefits has really streamlined our HRIS (including payroll) processes. Man, it's sooo much easier than the other vendor we were using. I was really hesitant to switch payroll providers since the company has been using the same provider for over a decade, but the price point (and savings) were just too compelling to ignore. Implementation team was strong, available and knew their stuff. My favorite features are scheduled reminder emails for employees. Second favorite (and most used) are the MUCH easier to read and manipulate payroll reports. Cons I think some of the more sophisticated features still need some building out and training for admins.
