We've used Zenefits at my company for years and it's never let me down. Pros I love how easy it is to find exactly what you need. I've never once had an issue checking my PTO, making a request, clocking in, adding a note to my timesheet, or even browsing my company directory to locate someone I needed to contact. Cons There was only one time I ever got lost, and it was because they changed how a certain directory section appeared. I would have liked more communication on the site itself to indicate something moved, but thats it. Pros The basic package is free as long as Zenefits administers your benefits. It offers a lot of features, like a company org chart and all sorts of benefit management Cons It can't administer a Simple IRA plan, which seems ridiculous to me, since it can manage a 401k. Also, I don't like how they are moving it more and more to a paid service. Performance evaluations seems like an obvious and easy step for Zenefits to step into, but they don't offer the service. The on boarding tools offer a wide variety of options an customization that really make the initial process a lot easier. Pros The part that we liked most about zenefits is that it gave us one place to keep all employee documents. We also like that we could set up an employee by using the on boarding (hiring) service through zenfits which allows the employee to start their profile an also fill out needed employment documents electronically. Cons Initially we thought that the time card piece of zenefits was something that we were going to be able to use and would be rather handy for us. We quickly learned that Zenefits has not yet set up this module in a way that truly works for subcontracts who have to track employee's time by job number and phase code both. It can be done but takes a large amount of manual entry on the administrators part which then defeats the purpose of using such a tool. Our HR team of 2 uses Zenefits for everything HR-related, from onboarding, to benefits, to exit. From a cost-benefit perspective, the benefits far outweigh the costs and I'm glad we started using this software. Pros Love how Zenefits is cloud-based, eliminating the need to download software directly to the computer. Also a big fan of the simplification of onboarding--new hires can complete and sign documents online, and it is processed automatically. Reduces the headcount of HR and simplifies everything for a lean team to take over with ease. Cons As with many elements of the benefits process, changes are plentiful due to changing regulations and laws. I am \*so\* disappointed with how far the product, customer support, and overall experience have fallen. Pros Zenefits makes sending offer letters and onboarding employees very easy. Cons Constant errors in our payroll, taxes, and withholding amounts. This led to us having to scramble to get employees paid and it regularly took their customer support team over a week to respond to our urgent requests. Our biggest pain was the onboarding process, and Zenefits not only solved this for us, but allowed us to have a great brand experience with our new hires. Everyone raves about the simplicity and ease of use. Cons The only downside is that the pricing is a little high (in my opinion). We have been able to get away from paper using Zenefits. Cons I wish we could set up our Health Reimbursement Arrangement and Flexible Spending Arrangement through Zenefits, but so far, that hasn't been possible. Before then, we kept track of employee time off with paper sheets submitted to accounting, then a master spreadsheet of all employee time off. I like Zenefits better because it's easier to keep track of comp time, and easier for employees to request time off and keep track of their balances. I also have it syncing to a Google calendar so everyone can see who is out of the office. Their new one-on-one meetings part of the software is something we will explore next. Cons There's not much I don't like, in fact, we need to take more advantage of what we are paying for. I had some stressful moments with payroll, but once it is set up it is very easy to administer. Pros i like the self-service aspect access for my employees and using Zenefits for onboarding. Cons Payroll admin is a hard, specialized topic. I could have used a little more hand-holding in getting payroll up and running. Cons Org chart doesn't integrate with other subsidiaries or entities so we were not able to utilize this function. Eliminates a lot of double entry into multiple HRIS or Payroll systems. Pros It is a very innovative and inclusive product. It consolidates many HR databases into one. Everything in one place, one login, one whole HRIS system. Cons Some features of the product still require some admin work. CFO Construction Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Misled by sales team, feel taken advantage of" May 17, 2019 2.0 Pros The ease of extending an offer to a candidate. Cons The problems started as soon as we signed the contract and were handed off to an Implementation specialist. According to our implementation specialist, many of the things that we were told were possible from the sales team were not actually possible, including managing multiple EINS and and managing unpaid time off. We signed a two year contract with Zenefits, which turned out to be a mistake. After realizing that their Performance Management aspect of their software was clunky and not useful within the first couple of months of actually trying to use the software, we asked for it to be turned off and credited back for the portion not used. They told us that not only would they not credit us back, but they would not turn it off and would continue to charge us the Performance Management fee for the next 21 months. When I asked why any company would want to charge someone for services that they are not using, their response was "You signed the contract". I feel like that tells me all I need to know about the company. I will not be signing another contract with Zenefits ever again. Review Source NF Nitela F. Starting with customer service being non existent and they don't even have a phone number anymore, to IRS not receiving forms and deposits from Zenefits, to suddenly being dropped from the payroll service (technical glitch???) and almost missing payroll deadline, to automatic renewal with employee numbers being incorrect and fighting to get a refund for a mistake they made, payment is made per year and they only go up in seats not down when you have less employees ... Have you heard enough yet to run for the hills? Save yourself a headache (or many headaches) and spend a bit more somewhere else. Plenty of other users seem to have similar issues as well... I just wished I had read more of them. Pros Price... but you definitely get what you pay for... junk Cons Customer service is a joke. Zenefits does not even have a customer service number anymore. Everything is done through email and responses are non existent. So many issues with missing filed tax forms and deposits. Reason for choosing TriNet HR Plus Price... but I regret it.
