Comments: STAY AWAY

Pros: It 's cheap and there's a reason. The secret to the low list price for the software is that you will pay for every single second of support implementation and training trust me this is the razor handle razor blade model of business if I've ever seen

Cons: Where do I begin, I have had nothing but trouble with this company since they cashed my check.if you think you need even the slightest amount of support do not buy the software

Comments: Overall, E2 is a great software for a machine shop of our size. As we continue to grow, E2 will continue to help service our internal and external needs.

Pros: E2 has been our software of choice for 10+ years. The system itself is very user friendly and offers many detailed reports, which can be downloaded and analyzed for proper business decisions. I enjoy the flexibility the Crystal Reports hotspot viewer gives for creating custom reports

Cons: WIP inventory tracking could be enhanced a bit to have more drill down functionality and offer a mechanism to value at standard cost

Moved from Epicor, like night and day. Easy to use, ease of access and availability of data plusses

Pros: Reporting is great, data analysis, organization, ease of use, shop flow, quickview can be used from anywhere in the shop, quality package is great

Cons: Reports are limited, no cloud based usage, email is inconsistent, custom reports are expensive and should be offered with the package.

Pros: The ease of use is what I like the most. We were able to install and "run" with this program. We did NOT need a lot of extra reports or functions - the system already had what we needed and wanted built into it.

Cons: Just a couple of the quirks (tab vs enter on some screens). I do not like that the inventory issued to jobs does not deduct the GL balance. That is a manual entry that I do at the end of the month.

Overall: Peace of mind that what is being reported is accurate.

Pros: Our company has utilized E2 for 18 years and I have been a user for 13+ years. It is a robust system. We have had virtually no downtime due to system related issues. We started with the MDB version and migrated to SQL about 7 years ago. No issues with either. The support team has always been superb - - easy to get a hold of and not in a hurry to hang up. I appreciate that.

Overall just a really good software package and a great company to deal with. If you invest in this software, do yourself a favor and get Crystal Reports and write your own reports for data retrieval. System is open to allow for this functionality and will make the use of the data even better.

Cons: The ability to customize is limited in regards to functionality. The company prefers to keep the backbone "vanilla" and I do understand it. However there are times that we could get a big gain from a tweak and we are just not able to get it done.

Overall: We use this system every day to manage our manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution activities.

Pros: Allows you to track jobs from quoting to invoicing. You can add pictures and descriptions of the items to be built and track the quality of the item including the employee doing the work.

Cons: Doesn't integrate with all programs as promised; not able to edit wording on some documents that the program produces; not able to add a logo and address with ease; support gives you the run around IF you can reach someone when you call.

Overall: It's filling the need for quoting and job tracking, but only because it cost so much to purchase that we are unable to change at this time.

Comments: This is just a comment and not a negative response...............I am working on the quality side of the business and would like to see some forms/templates available within the system pertaining to quality, i.e. Control of Documents, Calibration, Internal Audit, Vendor evaluations, Customer satisfaction, Management review, etc....

Pros: I personally have only been using shop tech for a short time but I found it very user friendly right from the start. The other users here are very happy with it and also all of our customers and partners that are using the system also speak highly of it as well.

Our experience all in all was very good. You exceeded most of our expectations.

Comments: We thought we would be in difficult situtation in the first year but was really quite the opposite. The learning curve was very short and has not only helped us its caused us to look at business differently, especially in relation to pricing and cost.

Pros: Customer support. We always had prompt and professional support. We haven't used it lately but the training webinars were very helpful.

Cons: Probably the price, although it's probably competitive for the market place. We don't really have any big negative with the product.

Comments: We have been using E2 foe over a year and it has helped us better organize our office and manufacturing. We are still implementing different features, but the ones we are using are very easy to use and functional.

Pros: Amount of features - Lots of different modules to customize to your exact needs Useability Functionality ISO 9001 compatible

Cons: You must organize your approach before implementation. You can go back, but it is best to formulate a plan before spending to much effort on implementation.

We've had this for 7 years and the more we utilize it the more problems it has

Pros: This program is very basic so if you learn how to use one part of the system you can learn how to use the other parts of the system because they all look the same

Cons: This software does not allow for any changes to be made, and if you want to make a change you have to pay hundreds of dollars to do so. It is very set in the way it was build and you cannot change anything to make it easier for your company. First the shop floor doesnt account for scraps, they assume you will remake them so if you have any scraps and want to throw them out and move on to the next step of production then it wont count that step as being done. Then the accounting is put into many steps and the system gets easily overcrowded. the general ledger is done in too many steps to be accurate. The system will not work for orders of more than one line because if you want to unprocess an order in a second line after the first one was shipped, you cannot. Youre stuck with this floating error in your system that you cannot get rid of.
I personally do not recommend this to anyone. The system isnt very helpful, i feel like you could organize your data much better even on excel sheets than this program does. Finally their customer support do not know anything, as an experienced user of this i call them and ask for help with some easier things and they cannot provide me with an adequate answer, then through trial and error on my own part I find what i was looking to accomplish. Overll I am very dissatisfied with this system;the way its run, the way its reports are made, and how easy it is to create errors but its nearly impossible and in some cases impossible to correct them.

Pros: I really how all steps within the system are connected. You don't have reenter things. Everything is carried over.

Cons: Once things are closed they can't be reopened. If I wanted to make changes to an invoice, I have to and an A or something to the end.

We have been with E2 for over 10 years. Service has always been prompt and excellent.

Pros: Ease of use. Very user friendly. We have modified several of the menus. I am sure if we used it as it was originally written, it would be VERY good.

Cons: The accounting package. Too much of a journal entry system to keep the general ledger balanced. This leaves a lot of room for error.

Comments: We are first using client of E2 Shoptech Since they came into the market

Pros: Quotations Purchasing receivable Quailty Non- Confirmation Work orders Job Travellers vendors Suppliers Customers Work orders Writing checks

Cons: Service, updates, yearly Maintenance, The price is very effective. The service they are providing from quotations to Invoices and purchasing to checking with no other software I have seen doing this. This is why we are still using E2.

We've used E2 for 18 years and consider it to be the best manufacturing software on the market for our small job shop.

Pros: Customer service, both software and particularly technical support, has always been good. Shoptech listens to their customers "wishes" and continually strives to improve their products as well as to provide adequate training opportunities.

Cons: Many of the reports are unwieldy and include too much info that is not useful. We purchased crystal report writer to customize some of the reports and that has helped.

We had E2 since 1998 it was an excellent software system. Sadly it is not so great anymore.

Pros: It is windows based software so it makes using it intuitively. The original modules work really well.

Cons: Tech support not being able to solve bugs in the system. Scheduling and Quality modules don't perform well and aren't intuitive at all. Our customer service representative is only interested in selling products and services not in helping us resolve performance issues with the system.

Overall: It works well keeping us up to date with financials, is okay but flawed at time keeping. Our front office has to spend 2 hours every morning adjusting it. You can tell which job an employee is clocked into. Routing and estimation works well if you are very experienced with a lot of machining and programming background. There are other software packages that don't require as much skill to use.

Pros: Covers all aspects from Supply Chain, Inventory to Production& attendance records to Accounts Payable and Cheques. One stop

Cons: Scheduling is time consuming and not user friendly. Definitely needs to improve the scheduling engine in software.

Comments: I paid $25,000 for this software. E2 knew my business and still sold it to us. It is not designed for job shop metal finishing. It would be great for a manufacturing company that was making parts. We have stopped using it and purchased another program specifically designed for our type of work.

Pros: When you purchase the software Shop Tech sends your tee shirts, mouse pads, pens and other advertising gadgets.

Cons: Complicated order entry, duplicate steps required to process an order, a ridiculous amount of paper required for job travelers.

From Receiving raw material to Shipping finished product ou, E2 helps keep track of it all for us.

Pros: I mainly use E2 to help set up new jobs/parts. The ability to easily create new parts, assign material, add labor times, and assign each part to a bill of materials is what I like most about the software. It doesn't take me too long to set up an entire multi tier BOM and have costing out by the end of the day.

Cons: The interface seems a bit dated but it gets the job done. Inventory counts can be a bit of a nightmare but we also aren't taking full advantage of the software's capabilities. Hopefully over the next few years we will grow to take full advantage of what E2 has to offer to help keep track of jobs/inventory.

Pros: Runs lightning fast. Shoptech support is second to none. E2 has been vital to our business and can't imagine how we would have gotten along without it.

Cons: Would be nice to be able to have open multiple sections of the software. Something like tabs or the ability to minimize a window to check something else without opening another instance of the software.

Comments: and the customer service is a plus...... my implementation specialist makes me feel like I have nothing to be worried about. even when I have little to no idea how to utilize the software to gather certain info. great job guys

Pros: I can track productivity, schedule production, and even track my quality control.. I know where every thing is without leaving my office. which on days like today is a big deal, it being 97 degrees and all.

Comments: The customer service is great!

Pros: We like E2's ability to give us costing on a job in real time and compare it to our estimate. further the reporting function is very flexible.

Cons: We find the formatting awkward and inflexible. Also, we experience loss of data from time to time within the inventory process. Bins will combine and material will disappear, without explanation.

Software is user friendly to everyone and easy to learn.

Pros: Keeping track of orders and due dates. routing is a big plus to see where the next operation is for the part to be machined.

Cons: The time clock feature needs to be more secure for date entry. Anyone can clock in for any person. Finger print scanning is what we do to be more secure.

Overall: Bar Code scanning and routing and keeping track of orders.

Pros: The reports for the accounting side is easy to locate. Love the way everything is setup in shoptech

Cons: We are testing the beta and it just going to take a while to get used to the system. i do not like the fact that i can not use two E2's at the same time.

Implementation was surprisingly smooth and non-disruptive. We were operational in weeks rather than months as we had anticipated.

Pros: Quick and easy for a newcomer to get up and operational. The basic training at Shop Tech training facilities do a nice job for preparation.

Cons: Miss the recorded on-line tutorials that used to be offered for advanced modules. These were useful as we could watch or review them at a moments notice, anytime of day.

E2 works well with our shop. It's easy to use.

Pros: I like that it integrates with my UPS. That it will sync tracking numbers to my E2 when a customer calls for status it's only a click away.

Pros: Easy to use once you understand how the product works.I've been using E2 for over 20 years now and it has helped us grow our buisness by leaps and bounds. I would definitely recommend training like anything else. The training made a world of difference. Excellent product. I would recommend it to anyone in the manufacturing industry.

Cons: I wish I would have started with the whiteboard when we were a smaller company. It would have made implementing the whiteboard a lot easier to earlier in growth than later. Otherwise I don't really have to much to complain about.

Pros: E2 is easy to use while providing detailed features. The technical support team is very helpful with any questions whether it be how to do something or help with hardware issues.

Cons: Would like more detailed/options for searching. Would also like to see a better module for internal returns/rework/nonconforming.

Pros: I like the customer support the most along with the systems ease of use. All screens are of similar background which makes learning the new modules much less intimidating.

Cons: The accounting module uses batch accounting which I find a hassle .. I like information flowing to the G/L instantly so I can view my bottom line and see how entries affect my companies financial position.

Overall: The system is very versatile, and can be used for a multitude of industries doing different things. The customer support is unlike anything I have ever used. Every question has an answer before your phone call is over.

Recommendations to other buyers: Excellent software. Versatile. Great customer support.

As a fairly new user to E2, I find the customer service team and our representative very helpful.

Comments: We have been using E2 for the last 8 years and had a great experience. Their customer services is excellent, always helpful and friendly. Keep up the good work!

Pros: We like that is easy to learn and use. We like the ability of tracking orders and the POs related to the jobs and many other helpful features such as traveler routers, creating certs and NCRs.

Cons: There are some reports that are not available and the Visual Scheduling can get a little bit confusing.

The technical support is exceptional.

Comments: Your search features are not the greatest; I do think things should be easier to find, for instance - when you search for a part, if you don't have the first letters of a part exactly right, it can't seem to find it. It would be nice for the search function to look in all of the fields to find its results.

Pros: Your technical support team is able to answer almost every question I've asked. And there are some very useful reports that can be generated which compile data we've been for for a long time.

Cons: It is slightly inflexible; it will just take some getting used to. I also work with Quickbooks, which is very, very easy to fix once you know the system. E2 may very well be the same way - I just need to learn the tricks. I feel that there should be more in the Tables category that can be set up as a template, for instance, the Routings. It would be nice to be able to apply template routings for types of products made, that can be edited, then flushed back whenever a change is made to that template. I've found a "workaround," thanks to help from your support team, but I'd like to see Routing Templates as an option in Tables.

Disappointed in this product.

Comments: We abandoned the software after 90 days.

Pros: Good marketing. Earnest customer support. The estimating module - even though we liked this module, it requires too many steps.

Cons: Not intuitive. Clunky. Requires many keystrokes when one would suffice. Seems to have been written throughout the 1990s. One module does not necessarily mimic another. Accounting is scary. We understand why they do not offer free trials.

Comments: Our E2 experience has been great since day 1. Shoptech was the only software company that we were looking at that sent a sales rep to our facility. We had looked at several others at the time and they all displayed their system via "Go to Meeting" scenarios. Rep brought the E2 package to our shop. He gave all of us an opportunity to "test drive" it. By far the most user friendly package we had looked at.
Once we purchased the software and had it installed, customer rep came to our shop for 2 days of hands on training. He was also very cooperative days and weeks after the fact to answer any questions we had as we navigated through the system. We have been using E2 for almost 4 years and it has enhanced our operation on many levels.
I would recommend E2 to anyone considering it.
Very functional, versatile and user friendly.

Pros: E2 Shoptech works well for our business and customer service is great. We have had some programming (for some special needs) done by E2 technicians that makes it even better.

Cons: I would have to get very nit-picky to find a complaint. When searching for part numbers under routing/estimating and inventory items, I wish you could pick a combination of fields at the same time to help narrow down the search.

Pros: Ease of use, forgiving nature - mistakes can be corrected easily. Set up was also simple and made implementation a little easier.

Cons: I would like the ability to give read access to some of the modules but it seems you have to give all or none in regards to permissions. This has caused us a little heartburn.

Overall: I have been thoroughly impressed with the system, it's ease of use and set up has been impressive.

All of the support staff from implementation to help desk have been so helpful and made this experience a little less intimidating.

Comments: We have been with Shoptech for 7 years. Easy to use...easy to train people on. Easy to change the part masters and have them effective immediately.

Pros: Estimating module is easy to see on spreadsheet, and easy to evaluate as an estimating manager. Love how fast the part master can be updated and effective.

Cons: The barcoding is not desirable. Takes too long.

Pros: Consistency between modules makes ease of use sense

Overall: Excellent Customer support and the ability to problem solve Job Shop issues with product knowledge. We utilize 90 percent of E2 in our business and are happy with its performance in all areas.
It is a very powerful tool that creates valuable reports in which we can make knowledgeable decisions based on facts to drive the business forward on a daily basis.

Recommendations to other buyers: Well worth the effort to implement. I don't think there is an easy way to implement any software of this depth. It forces a business to look deep into itself as to how it wants to operate ect.. and forces you to make decisions that will affect the direction of the company in the future pro actively.

Comments: We were stuck using our antiquated shop system and dreaded having to switch to a new platform. We really liked all of the features E2 Shop had to offer and the transition to their service was smooth and trouble-free. We highly recommend their solutions!

Comments: Suggest paying to have someone to load in your info for estimating. We misinterpreted one field and was losing jobs because we were too high but finally figured it out the hard way.

Pros: Fairly easy to use but I recommend taking the class to get a good understanding of the basics before beginning.

Cons: Initial package reasonable but costly to add on as well as to customize with your business logo/info.

Comments: It is somewhat difficult for me to give an accurate review of this system as I have only been working with it for about 6 months and provided limited training prior to taking on the task of using the program. But overall I am not a big fan.

Pros: At first glance, it appears to a very simple program and easy to work with.

Cons: It is cumbersome and clunky. Online training is provided but we have found that often the training is incomplete and really doesn't answer specific questions we may have. Making changes within the program are challenging and often it is unclear whether the change will actually do what we need it to.

Comments: I have used E2 Shop Control software at multiple companies. It is versatile for different types of companies. It is intuitive and easy to use. The icons on the home screen layout the processes and make the software easy to understand with minimal training. I love having one program which encompasses all processes and data, eliminating the need to re-enter information into multiple systems. This prevents mistakes too!

Pros: Shoptech's customer support is second to none. Every time I have a question or concern, any technical support rep that answers the phone is immediately able to help me and walk me through exactly what I need to do to fix my issue.

Comments: The system does not automatically update due to not being a cloud system, which causes frequent error messages and delays. The system however, is very use friendly and allows simple and easy creation of travelers. The system is also very easy for shop floor associates to navigate with little computer literacy. All in all, E2 gets the job done, but efficiency improvement and compatibility issues could be made.

Comments: So far I'm pleased with your product. As with any product, there are things that are great about it and things that are not. Since every business is different, some things may work well for your needs and others not so much. We only use it to route parts thru our shop. We don't use it for any P&L financial reporting.

Pros: Once you've figured out how to use the software, you can build estimates relatively quickly.

Cons: It's not the most intuitive software to use. It has taken some time to learn how to make the software work for our needs.

Comments: I like this software because it is easy to use and has a lot of room for growth. Very easy to track jobs and inventory materials for projects. I like that you can log parts and projects so if you do them again they are already in the system.

Pros: Time and Job tracking, inventory materials

Cons: Tax settings on quotes do not have a line item for calculating tax into projects. Sometimes the software will crash right in the middle of entering a job. Can be very slow at times. Takes to long to regenerate/ update or switch pages.

The software has been great for us with the inventory and job tracking modules that we use

Comments: We would never use any other system but E2 simply because of how user-friendly it is. It facilitates any task while maintaining traceability within the jobs. It has everything we need to run a successful machine shop. Technical support has been very helpful in answering any questions we may have. They either provide instructions or simply walk us through any procedure. Our Sales Representative has been awesome and it has been a pleasure to interact with him. Comments: We started using E2 a couple years ago and are more than happy with the benefits of adding this system. Our processes match well with E2 and we continue to look at what ways we can better utilize this system to make our lives easier. Rarely do we find that there is anything inherently wrong with the software, as long as you take the time to understand how tables are related. A powerful tool if used correctly.

Pros: Record keeping, order entry/tracking, and customer accounts are more than accessible. The added Quickview pane is a staple in our day to day operations.

Cons: Would like to be able to Edit reports with more ease. Without a solid background, its easy to find yourself calling their support line.

Recommendations to other buyers: We would recommend this product to other shops. Best advice would be to take the full maintenance plan the first year and abuse the resources that come with it (classroom training, webinars, online tutorials). Full implementation is where you will see the most benefit.

Comments: E2 drives our day to day operations. Real-time data collection captures shopfloor Time & Attendance and Job Time. Quoting, Order Processing, Purchasing, AP/AR and General Ledger, Shipping/Receiving and Quality. Ease of use makes it a breeze to bring new employees up to speed. Reports are easy to access and are customizable with Crystal Reports. Overall, it has the capabilities to manage a variety of manufacturing requirements with solid reporting and tools. Support is responsive and knowledgeable.

Pros: Easy to deploy, learn and use. Secure modules/access. Great Quality/ISO tools. Comprehensive. Stable & Reliable. Good value.

Cons: Lacks a live grid display when searching. Would love to right click copy and list. Report customization requires Crystal knowledge for more than simple changes. Don't let them tell you it can't be done.

Recommendations to other buyers: Find a resource similar to what you're doing and see it in an actual production environment. Don't get hung up on the exceptions, there are ways around everything. Have your process owners defined and the processes clearly mapped. Deploy with the SQL back-end, gives you additional flexibility.

Comments: After using it for about 18 months now, it still continues to be frustrating. We are supposedly the first shop to use it on a "cloud," and it for whatever reason is not well-suited for such (Perhaps the could itself is a part of the problem - I don't know enough to say one way or the other) But the modules do not function identically. The searches behave differently between different subsections (The way I search in 'Part no.' does not produce the same results in searching in the "Description" tab.) We hired a new estimator. Even after watching the instructional videos and participating in an online class, I still spent a week over his shoulder walking him through the usage of it. The only way to learn the process of it is repetition. Rote memorization of the step by step process is the only way it works.

Pros: Versatility. It has a wide-range of application. Lots of potential if they can streamline and improve it.

Cons: Lack of depth to it's versatility - It seems more for a production shop than a custom fabrication shop. We do jobs from a dollar to millions of dollars... it doesn't fit to any of those templates. It's more for manufacturing/production than custom fabrication. No intuitive operation to the app. It's only the people who've memorized the process who can use it effectively. Completely repetitive memorization until they've learned the process to operate the modules - then there's little differences between modules. What works in one, is a bit different in another. And the layout has no natural flow, for its flow of operation it's confusing for new users...

Recommendations to other buyers: I'm hesitant to say don't purchase something... I would say this: Speak to shops like your own that are using it and see how it goes for them. Find shops that have your same profile/complexion but work a different market, and see how it's working for them.

With the implementation of E2, we have been able to have a start to finish manufacturing system. Prior to E2 each department had an individual system of getting the job done. Thus creating lots of paperwork and a costing nightmare. We appreciate the ease working with the software from quoting/order entry, labor reporting, costing, shipping to the syncing of receivables and payables to QuickBooks for our accounting.

E2 was definitely worth the investment of time and dollars.

Comments: Generally this is a great product. We have a few issues from time to time and a few things don't make sense to us but all in all we are happy with the information we collect and analyze with E2.

Pros: That it is easy to use on a day to day basis. We can look at information in real time.

Cons: Because we are job shop using the scheduling is a little difficult. We have had a few training sessions on using it however it doesn't seem to work as easily as other modules. Also something that really annoys me is that I cannot set the Tax default to Yes on the Vendor Invoice module. And I think I should have an option of typing in the PO# to bring up a receiver also in Vendor Invoicing. Also we feel we should have the option to look up a job# in Order entry by using the Quote #.

Comments: I am the AS9100 Lead Auditor and Document Control personnel for a composites company in Oregon. While there are some beneficial uses as an ERP system, I don't find that the Quality Section is nearly extensive enough for document control functions. It is great for electronic disbursement, however its functionality for controlling documents is very limited.

Pros: Elimination of forms being edited by non document control associates

Cons: No way to control drawings electronically-it is just a screen shot of what the documents look like. Fields are unable to be edited for anything-receiving logs, etc. The fact that these can't be filled in digitally and emailed makes the use of this probably unlikely.

Pros: Experience: We are a small family owned business , and we did our research and E2 was the best company to offer shop control in conjunction with our ISO certification. We have been using E2 since 2010.

Cons: Reports do not allow for customization for our specific needs, it can be done but there is an additional cost. We found the scheduling system a challenge to make work.

Overall: The basic software works great for our needs even though most of our production is jobbing "once offs". When we have special requirements , Shoptech offers custom programming.
They will work with us to find a solution, and their service is done in a courteous and timely matter.

Recommendations to other buyers: E2 is a good Software to use but needs one dedicated IT person to understand and implement.

Comments: I have worked with E2 Shop Systems for 16+ years, I can't say enough about the program or the support! Top notch! When I moved to Tennessee about 14 years ago, my current employer was using Quick Books and it just wasn't doing the job we needed for our shop so when software talk started I explained the ease of E2 and all the shop floor control that it had. We still use Quick Books for our accounting but E2 for everything else.

Pros: Easy to use! The support they offer is great. What ever your is they are quick to react to your needs.

Cons: I really can't think of any

Comments: We have been using the E2 for almost 10 months now. It was very simple to implement and is easy to navigate. Customer service is great!

Pros: Very simply to use. Syncing E2 with QuickBooks seems to be working well. We are a job shop so things move very quickly. From quoting a job to work orders to shipping, it all can be done fairly quickly and easily. Customer service is spot on. Anytime I need to talk or communicate, they are there to help with a phone call or a web-x.

Cons: Reports lack customization for our specific needs, it can be done but there is a cost for that. E2 does not have the ability to spell check, so I'm updating in Word and pasting data into comments. E2 only has the ability to have one screen open at a given time which can be very cumbersome when you need to review your data. You can open a second E2 system on your computer, but as we are a small company we do not have that many seats in to do this all the time. Global scheduling has the ability to auto run behind the scenes, but again needs another seat.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do your homework and speak with others that are using it to see if this is right for your shop production needs.

Pros: The Quality Mod is worth its weight in gold for our ISO system.

Cons: Can't customize the e-mail sending note section.

Overall: Ease of use is one of the most important things about this system. If there are any questions, you call and get an answer from knowledgeable and courteous reps. I highly recommend to give them a shot!!

Comments: We bought this system thinking it was going to be very user friendly. The problem is it take so much information to get to the end game to make it worth while. We are a true Job shop and we have 1000's of different parts we do in a year. 50% of which won't repeat often. This was just too cumbersome for us to use. We have developed a few excel programs and inventory management solutions that just fit our needs more closely.

Pros: It is an all inclusive system that might work well for shops doing repetitive work.

Cons: Too much data needs to be entered to quote a single part. Also, you cannot quote multiple Qty's at different labor rates. You can quote different labor rates per operation, but from a QTY breakdown you cannot. Not a great program for those specialty shops doing many different parts each day.

Comments: As a CNC routing company we've had all the newest technology when it comes to our CNC routers, and especially our wood powder coating line, but we were still doing quotes the old fashion way, pen and paper. I have been one of the primary users of E2, and after data entry, it cuts my time dramatically. There are quotes that would have taken me all day to do, but with E2 I was able to get them complete in less than an hour. Quoting and billing are the primary functions we use at this time with E2, and I can tell you that it works seamlessly with QuickBooks, which was super beneficial to us as we didn't want to reinvent the wheel when it came to accounting. E2 allowed for a smooth transition where we can use both products and not miss a beat.

Pros: Ease of use and compatibility with other software

Cons: Maintenance fees (but everyone has them)

Recommendations to other buyers: When we got the software a few years back we did our research and we were not able to find another shop system that offered as much as E2 for the price.

Pros: User friendly, and making correction or adding information a very easy task.

Cons: On the accounting side, the bank reconciliation report should also give checks that have not cleared. This may aid in the process.

Overall: This system is actually a fun experience! Makes me look good at my job position! Looing up information is simple and clear. We like the reports we can print out for reviewing. Making corrections in the system very easy to do. I can't say enough about this program, very user friendly!

Pros: The interface is simple and easy to use. The support is good too. I call whenever I am not able to figure something out and they will provide assistance.

Cons: The reports are lacking and sometime we need to use Crystal Software to get the information we need. Also, you can only have one screen open at a time. The new E2 Mfg takes care of this.

Pros: The software is pretty easy to use. We can usually get new employees up and running fully on the software with only a couple of days of training.

If you implement the time keeping module it allows for excellent review of jobs and verification of timing for your work.

By far the best part of E-2 is the support. They have a wide range of support tools including Webex training's, customer support, and even analysts who can help implement, and improve your software usage.

Cons: Like most software it is built around a model that may not exactly match your business model. In this case the issue is Parts vs. Jobs. Our shop tracks jobs through the shop that are composed of multiple parts. E-2 works best if one part is one job. While it is possible to run multi-part jobs you lose some of the functionality of the software when you do.

The other limitation is eliminating duplicate data. If you have customers, materials or parts that were duplicated, or just plain created incorrectly, it is cumbersome to remove them from the E-2 system.

Overall: This software has all of the features necessary to quote a project, purchase for a project, and move the project successfully through the shop from one work station to another, accurately accumulating time as it goes.

It will give you insight into your jobs as to estimated performance versus actual performance, it will give you control over your purchasing and a 30,000ft level view of your work center loading.

Overall, it has the capabilities to meet a wide variety of manufacturing requirements with good reporting, and useful tools

Recommendations to other buyers: When implementing the software have a plan. Create consistent naming systems for your customers, materials, and vendors. Train to these naming conventions so that you do not create a bunch of duplicate parts, materials or customers. If you start this way everything will be easier in the future.

Pros: The historical data is only a few clicks away if looking to see what jobs have been run in the past, along with its simplicity to navigate the program.

Cons: I do not like that fact that a lot of information is not live and the GL needs to be posted for the current month. The inventory system could use a lot of tweaks to be a little more simpler to get more accurate information.

Overall: I have found E-2 to be the driving force to our success in this industry. the information needed to do a job is at our finger tips once you become familiar with the program and understand how it works. This is not a big learning curve.

Cons: We were not able to integrate E2 with UPS WorldShip, nor with QuickBooks in accounting/payroll.

Once in place, it was really easy to teach employees throughout the shop on how to use it. Every business is different and may have some special needs. Shoptech has always been able to help us integrate E2 with these needs. They are really good at what they do.

Pros: Easy to navigate

Overall: It has helped tracking of real job cost exponentially. For our type of service there needs to be other options available for reports (I realize we can pay you for custom reports but for our type of business it seems like it should already be there). Also I think that in estimate/quote/orders there should be two lines for misc. tooling/charge because a lot of times there is a setup charge that is recurring and tooling charges that are not always recurring but are incurred none the less. You should also be able to bring data into estimate from quote instead of only the other way around. Small business service companies don't have the time to create an estimate in order to give a price on a job. We can look at a part after being around for almost 60 years and say, eh that looks like about a $200 job. We purchase no material, it is all customer supplied so there are no costs associated with the job other than our labor and occasionally tooling so it is a waste of time to make an estimate when you may not even win the job. We type up a quote and then maybe 3 days or maybe 3 weeks later we win the job I want to be able to go into estimate at this point and pull in the info from my quote...part number, pricing, description....then I can add the routing and the part notes.
