Pros Job Budget control screen and interactive reports on job costs in real time. Implementation team was phenomenal at helping to deal with the challenges of leaving an inferior software. We’re able to keep an eye on all the major buckets that we've got going on with one kind of interface. It’s the lifeline of our operations; Premier makes the complicated pretty easy at the end of the day. The progress billing side is very effective. It’s easy. It puts the information in front of you... you quickly look across the board at different AP invoices, pending, approved, or on hold, and know that when we send the bills at the end of the month, we’ve got an accurate representation of what really happened in the field. When you're relying on more primitive tech... things like cost or time in the field, change orders, that stuff can snowball. Premier gives us a good system to track it. Cons Like any implementation, there were some hiccups but it was a pretty seamless transition once the setup was complete. Support has been really good with all the different training modules, the help desk, quick responses, knowledge base videos, tutorials. We used to log lump sums in Excel without knowing which invoice they came from, then dig through QuickBooks to match them. Now, we just click the line item in Premier, and all the invoices come up. You can drill down instantly and find out where discrepancies could be. That’s been huge for us. The project managers now have more insight into where their project budgets are at, what's being spent on the job and if it's being allocated properly. Without Premier, PMs wouldn't really know what's being charged to their projects or the status of their subcontracts. It was very easy to misallocate an invoice. Cons Implementation was a bit slow. We had some major differences in our opening balance between Premier and QuickBooks that we had to get fixed, but it's all good now. A lot of the other platforms we looked at felt outdated or too rigid. Our design-build model doesn’t follow a traditional GC approach, so we needed a system that could adapt to how we work, not the other way around. Cons While no rollout is ever completely smooth, the training and onboarding support made a big difference. I took the lead internally, and the key was really getting buy-in from our team. Pros The best part about Jonas Premier is that it is a project management software that is fully integrated with the accounting software because it is the same software. Many other PM software systems say they integrate with accounting but the reconciliations are painful and time consuming making executives question the accuracy of data being produced.This is a great software that does the critical things related to project management and accounting better than most. Cons Payroll processing, banking integrations, KPI reporting, foreign currency translations are clunky, credit card module missing, drawings management, and personnel expense submissions. Having both functions under one platform is fantastic for our operations team. The full suite of project management functions means that we do not need additional software to fill gaps in functionality. The best feature is the customer support! The team at Premier actively seeks our feedback, always makes themselves available when we have major issues or simple questions, and the actually use the feedback to develop new features that make the software easier to use. The fact that we can make a suggestion and have it implemented in a relatively short time frame is extremely valuable to us. Cons At the start there is a bit of a learning curve, but the software is very intuitive so people learn quickly. There were some modules that were slightly cumbersome but Premier has been pushing significant updates that have solved those issues and expanded functionality significantly. The expense app was a big one for us. It allowed all our staff to upload their employee expenses in real time and do the allocation themselves, which saved my accounting team a lot of time. We have recently implemented the Smart UI, which is Premier's partnership with AI. In terms of entering AP, we've seen a ton of time savings, and I think we're just getting started in terms of AI and it's going to be really interesting to see where it goes. I've had a really great experience with the ongoing customer support. I have a recurring monthly meeting with my support team member, and I leave every meeting once a month feeling like inspired to look into something new to inspire time savings, which is really awesome. It’s the go-to place for a complete snapshot of project financials—showing the baseline, how it has varied, and what has impacted it. I especially value the flexibility Premier offers in analyzing different portfolios of information. Whether focusing on specific lines of business or a particular project manager, we can create tailored reports to meet our needs. There is significantly more communication between accounting and operations now and much greater ownership of financial data. Everyone can see how their actions affect project performance, and leadership can access information directly, without needing to go through others. In the past, I’ve used systems where finance was handled separately from project accounting. This required uploads between systems that often led to duplicate entries and reconciliation issues. With Premier, I rely heavily on workflows to ensure transactions are sent to the right people for approval. This helps to maintain accuracy without having to review every transaction manually. It also provides more timely financial reporting and stronger controls, allowing my team and I to focus on moving forward instead of constantly fixing past issues. What I appreciate most is that Premier continuously improves its software, especially on the project management side — unlike other platforms I’ve used in my 30 years in construction, which rarely evolve. Director, Performance and Business Intelligence Construction Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Exceptional product and a supportive team to back it up" January 24, 2025 5.0 Pros We manage between 500 to 750 employees depending on the season, and before Premier, we were using different systems such as Avantage Pro, Sage 50, and Maestro for accounting and Excel spreadsheets for project management. It wasn’t working well for handling our projects and budgets. Premier stood out to me because it’s so user-friendly. That was my number one priority when deciding on a platform. The tools, like the Job Dashboard, job forecasting, and budget controls, have been very helpful for our projet and finance teams. Before this, we didn’t have the right processes to track our job costing or controlling our budgets, but now we have the tools to do that. The on-site training was amazing—the team took their time and made sure we really understood how to use the system. Overall, the experience has been great, and we’re excited to move away from outdated methods and improve how we manage our projects and finances. Cons We’re big on customization, so we’ve made a few requests for small tweaks to reports and similar enhancements. Cons The least that I like about the Premier Construction software is the insertion of fields and a number of tabs that is sometimes misleading especially if you are not well trained to work on the software. President Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Integrated Project Management, Document Management, Accounting, and Job Forecasting Software" February 21, 2019 5.0 Pros To prioritize the pros of this software as compared to the traditional out of the box type softwares in its category, I have to say the overwhelming advantage of Jonas is the people who handle your transition into the implementation of this software tool to your company or companies. I mean, who cares how extensive and exhaustive the features are if you don't have a personalized team to help you get up and running. I personally don't quite understand how they are able to offer this type of personalized customer service for each client. They learn your business and how to best organize it and even tailor the software to meet your needs. I've never experienced this before. They listen to what you need and then come back with modifications or a different approach to continually streamline your day to day operation. You are assigned a team from the beginning, actual human beings that you interact with on a first name basis. They are on top of things, and that's really comforting for someone who is a habitual procrastinator. They make your daily tasks a breeze with minimal effort. I like that it is an online application. I can access it from any device. Really handy when looking up stuff on a phone while I'm on site - a suppllier invoice, contract, plan, sketch, etc... The user interface is very simple, everything is right there on one screen and not buried under a hidden tree of drop-down menus. You can create your on short list of favorites on the fly. The document manager is like having your own unlimited DropBox portal but with the advantage that the search capabilities are infinitely more powerful and logical, as the software stores all of your documents that you upload, attach or link for you to find through multiple queries as opposed to DropBox where if you forget the name of the file, good luck finding it. Very handy in my business as a builder is the tracking of subcontractor compliances that can be set up to block payment or at least warn on payment of a sub if he's late on a particular compliance. This was a real problem before. Who has time to constantly check and harass these guys for compliances. Just don't pay them and see how quick they email you that compliance . Cons Only complaint is that the software initially seems to be more set up for sub-contractors rather than general contractors and developers. I also buy land and build independantly so the accounting is quite a bit different as I have to capitalize expenses and revenue at completion of projects and jobs if I want to maintain a positive cash flow. The consequence of this is that the customer service team has to re-adjust to first understand the very different accounting that I need to have in place and from that point make adjustments and tailor the software so it suits my needs. It has all we need to run our business efficiently and effectively. Pros Easy account set up, Chart of Accounts, Vendors, Entering AP, AR, Estimated Budget, Change Orders, Cost to the Budget, payroll are all easy to enter. Bank Reconciliation for Bank, Several Companies, Credit Card reconciliation. Cost hits a job or GL Account and easily reviewed by Great reports and Job Dashboard. you can see a snapshot of the job and see reports from the dashboard. Compliance can be tracked for Insurance or missing documents. Subcontracts can bill thru Jonas for Easy tracking. All Reports Trial Balance, Balance sheet, Income Statement, Financial statement, many more reports etc, AP, AR, 1099 Tracking, Pay on line or ACH re-occurring payments, Jonas has been easy to use and if I can not resolve I email Jonas Help and they get right back to me and set up a teams teaming or Zoom and we resolve. Cons There are a few features we are waiting for Jonas to add which are Lien waiver Tracking. It has been helpful in realizing lots of efficiencies in reporting WIP and submitting monthly draw requests on time. Pros Onboard training was excellent. Support for questions or issues after implementation is excellent. Web-based software so employees and owners can view and add information from where ever they are working. Plus backup is current and ME rollover is smooth and doesn't require lots of processing to accomplish. Lots of reporting options and owners find the information easy to locate and readily available for review as needed. Very intuitive to use once for day to day activities. Cons Lien waivers need improvement - difficult to use. Premier is in the process of updating this feature and we are excited for that to be rolled out. Reason for choosing Premier Construction Software Quickbooks was not a robust enough program to track and report on the job progress information that our owners and project managers need. Previously, i felt that both teams had their own "language". This program helps bridge that gap. Also during the COVID crisis, software was immensely helpful in allowing us to work from home. Pros \- Ease of Use - Modern UI (i hated some software that looked like it was an updated DOS. This software has an almost gmail-life feel). - good integration between accounting and pm tasks and responsibilities - very good customer support. they are very responsive to our questions, and very open to suggestions. - Ideas portal: separate software support & feedback where software developers actually listen to users and may incorporate our ideas into the next software update Cons \- customer support time zone. software is located on North America eastern coast, so for me in california, there's only a 4 hour window or so when you can real-time discuss (via zoom, phone, etc). - some accounting features not as strong as QB. (this is a good/bad kinda issue). bad in that one doesn't have the flexibility to make changes like one would in QB, but good in that it actually forces you to be more GAAP minded - could use more out of the box accounting reports; and or report customatization (similar to QB) Reason for choosing Premier Construction Software \- user interface just looked so much better (less intimidating, more user friendly, organized as a modern software should be).
