Pros: A tried and tested CRM that has been around for many years, a testament to its popularity and reliability as a well functioning CRM. Act! works very well with MS Outlook.

Cons: Integration with some well known online apps is pretty much non-existent. Trying to get any help without a support plan is not going to happen. Expensive in comparison to some other CRM's that are better online-based systems.

I use ACT as my main CRM system and I like the fact that it integrates fully with Microsoft Outlook

Pros: I like the fact that I can buy it outright and I am not locked into a monthly plan. I also like the fact that I can tailor reports easily to meet my needs.

Cons: When I get stuck, support is almost non-existent. Purchasing the product gives installation support but after a short time, your on your own unless you purchase a support plan.

Overall: A good CRM system that does not require a monthly fee. It helps me manage and track clients, prospective clients and employees.

We have used ACT! since the very first version.

Pros: Everything in 1 place. Easy to find what you need to know. I like the way you can revamp the fields to suit what you require.

Cons: Customer support is costly, until you really need it. I highly suggest buying the support for the first 5 years.

Overall: It really helps you keep all of your contacts and related documents/items/emails/notes in one place.

Pros: I'm able to integrate with MS Outlook, and sync within my Ipad and Google phone. Your costumer support is awesome with it's followup and addressing and any issues I may have. Deserves more than 5 stars!

Cons: Software pricing is becoming an issue as less expensive models are out there that competes with Act. Need to consider reduction pricing for those loyal customers like myself since 2006. Needs to come up with a better less tedious way of merging contact duplicates.

Pros: Easy to use, support was very good, took over PC and took care of it. Installed easily and very polite. Best bang for the buck.

Cons: Upgrades are time consuming, and always happens at the worst time. I've used this for some time, and continue to go back compared with other CRM SW.

Overall: Easily able to find contacts/customers, and set reminders.

Offers the flexibility to set trigger actions which streamlines my day

Pros: Managing my database through alerts and predetermined actions. Keeping my day organized seamlessly. I'm able to record Outlook correspondence/emails automatically into my clients history for future reference. I prefer using my desktop version however, I'm able to sync my database and access using the cloud version from my phone.

Cons: Can be a little pricey to make changes to the present template that ACT provides as this usually requires an ACT consultant to build what you want. This is assuming the current templates are not satisfactory.

Good, I like the custom fields.

Pros: Custom fields. Ease of backup. I like that you can save multiple layouts. I do not like that the layout doesn't fit my screen using a typical new HD monitor. I either have to keep the type really small or thevtext gets very blurry.
Syncing with iPhone - your app doesn't include all the fields. Every time there is a major windows update, ACT has issues. For many years I have asked for a couple of features to be added and was always told by tech support that it should be Easy to add, but nothing ever happens.

Pros: Ease and speed of lookups in all categories. Contacts in groups,. Customization.
Email blasts ease in sending letters, quotes etc

Cons: Slight problems with Windows 10. When there is an update, new version, the old version has to be deleted and new copy installed. The older versions used to automatically delete it

Pros: All the features and the ease of using them. The daily , monthly, weekly calendar help me keep completely organized. Helps me to stay in contact with my customers on time. This program also allows me to have controll of my schedule and keeps me organized.

Cons: Have had a little trouble with using the email feature but with a little practice seems to do the job.
Setting up groups was also a little challenging at first but practice makes perfect.

Overall: A great support team.

have used Act for a long time and find it very helpful to track and find my contacts.

Pros: I routinely take advantage of the edit contacts and create unique fields which help in the search function. plus I can sort contacts to post to my iPhone.

Cons: first I prefer that enhancements not change the basic format as the software is a little difficult to become confortable with but once a comfort level is mastered a change is made to improve the software and the improvement requires another learning curve. syncing Act to my iPhone and back to Act is not as smooth as I would like.

I have a solo law practice for which this software works very well. Love the software integration.

Pros: Foremost for me is being able to take a note, schedule a meeting or make a call immediately and automatically have a memorandum of it. The fact that it integrates with other calendar and email programs. I love its compatible mobile partner that gives you all of that instantly.

Cons: The only con would be a past SQL glitch that had to be repaired several time. I got to the place I could do it myself. It seems to have finally been remedied. And I am one who keeps all software up to date.

Overall: Mainly quick connection with my clients and more importantly, instant recording of all activities.

Pros: Highly flexible in archiving and then managing and archive of many contacts right down to all the detail I need to make the contact information actionable.

Cons: Much more complicated than I need. I wish I could buy a basic platform and then add only the functionality I need.

Overall: Archives and organizes my sales opportunities.

Pros: It is fairly easy to use and customize. We have over 15,000 contacts in our database and the reporting functions allow us the manage our contacts efficiently.

Cons: The relationship between MS Office and Act requires updating about every 3 years. We are currently on our third version of ACT. Upgrading is easy though and the customer support is excellent.

Overall: We were able to design a custom database to manage both clients and candidates in a very efficient manner.

It helps me manage my leads and quotes and customer and trips. It make my day easier!

Pros: I can link all the information to my contact regarding their emails, drawings and quotes and POs. Everything is at my finger tips when I need it.

Cons: It does not have global field change capabilities. I could use it when I want to update a group of contacts with some new label.

I am new to the software and allowing 1 year before I make our final judgment.

Pros: Ease of use. Fast learning curve. It seeems to work all the time. Reliability. The fact the there are not of Time wasting Questionaires. Reasonable Pricing

Cons: Market promotions that offer upgrades in customer support after we purchase it. It's not the cost and another thing in the promotion it was stated that if we paid an upgrade fee we would get domestic support rather than off-shore. So far the off-shore has been terriffic. What 20 something more that copy. I did not like it.

Overall: First The compay which I purchsed it from does not wast my time with a lot of dumb questionaires. Second the Tec. people I have worked with are really great.

There are MUCH better Email Marketing Platforms out there...

Pros: I didn't like much about ACT! to be honest, it was very clunky to use and the templates available were very old school.

Cons: I was forced into using ACT! at a previous employer and it was awful. The designs looked like the 90s made them and there was nothing modern about the platform at all.

Pros: The contacts database allows you to keep track of just about anything you might think of in regards to a client. Notes can be made about call activities and I can record those plus one conversation pieces like where their kids go to school, spouse birthdays, or link to their Facebook page.

Cons: The custom tables feature was really difficult to implement and we found support lacking when it came to answering our specific questions.

Pros: Ease of use, great tabs for everything I need. I have used Customer Support and they have been very responsive and kind.

Cons: Sometimes the print feature is confusing and I would like a tab where I can make a list. I would also like a tab for photos.

Overall: Organization of my clients instead of using paper files.

Pros: The fact that I was able to use the product immediately with no instruction was a great pro. Entering data and retrieving info about a client is easy, and building history of calls, Email messages, letters in a record is great.

Cons: I am not happy with support as all they do is provide a fix when there is a problem, but not direction in how to build reports or use other functionality. I have had to fix the same problem with direction from their service group several times. If I ask for help with reports they tell me I need to find a consultant for that.

Overall: I use it to track my clients and prospects and I can tell anyone the last time I made contact, what that was - letter, Email, Phone Call, etc. and it allows me to connect important info to any of my clients, prospects, friends and family.

Pros: Act! has some great features, including information database management, email marketing, and letter creation. This can all be accessed from a panel on the left of the software.

Cons: Act! used to be one of the best solutions for the information/database industry. Over the years technology has changed in many ways. The big blow when competitors began to move to the cloud. Act!'s software is both clunky and slow. At times it can take minutes to load a page. It's also not very responsive. If you have a high-resolution screen, there will be times when you can't even read certain words.

For a product used to track customers, this was horrible

Cons: Was very buggy for us and our shared database was always down. Seemed we spent more time trying to fix the software than use it.

Pros: This is very easy to use, simple yet powerful CRM. End users are very happy with the functionality and has been much easier for management to get staff engaged vs similar products we've tried in the past. The UI is clean and simple, data entry is fast and the inbuilt reports are intuitive.

Cons: From an IT administration standpoint, can be a little clunky deploying on multiple machines. Having said that, once installed it's pretty much maintenance free and requires very little hand holding.

Overall: Happy users, efficient and easy access to customer/lead data

Pros: I like the integration, If you have high tech ability setting up API is easy to connect to Mobile platform if not running off the cloud.

Great for those meticulous in organization.

Cons: Better solutions available that require less out of the box configuration.
It can take 3-5 Phone calls before reaching a Tech that know how to fix an issue or is will to fix an issue.
Solutions often include blow away profile and deleted entries and archived data.

Overall: This software make legacy users happy and productive in conducting business.

Pros: Our office has been using this product since before I started. It is a solid database program and if that is all you want to do is have a large database of contacts, then this performs well.

Cons: I dislike how this is still only available for windows computers which makes communicating information in an office with both Mac and PC impossible. Also, the outlook plug in that allows emails to be synced with a contact in ACT will only link emails to the PRIMARY contact. So that means you have to manually sync that. If you are emailing over 100 emails a day, you end up either spending most of your time manually syncing contacts or just foregoing this feature. Also, you can only add 4 contacts to a company. Often times, we need to have upwards of 6-10 contacts for a company so the inability to add more is a huge issue. And since ACT isn't online, any changes made on any employee computers while not connected to the server means no one else has access to that info until they make it back to the office to sync. Which means our data is never fully up to date. There are so many problems with this software that we often don't try to take advantage of any of the other functions.

This works great on PC and Mac, as well as keeping your data online on our hosted cloud servers. It sounds like your business could make good use of the features available via Act! Cloud - might be worth checking it out at act.com - we do offer a free trial too. We'll definitely be taking your feedback on board for future releases - especially what you've said around email syncing. We've got some major improvements planned in this area in the next release (20.1). Lastly, there should be no limit to how many contacts can be assigned to a company - if you're having issues adding more than 4, I'd definitely recommend contacting customer support, who'll be happy to help. Pros: It does a lot of the same stuff as ACT 2000 which is good. It also tries to add new features to bring its CRM into the modern world.

Cons: We had been using ACT 2000 for the last 17 years, and other versions of ACT before that. ACT 2000 was great CRM software even with regard to how it synced. It was also reliable. Act! now is very unreliable (in my testing in my company), difficult to migrate to, difficult to sync, slower, and overall a considerably worse product, to the point that, given the option, I'd rather use ACT 2000 than the current Act!

Pros: We used Act! for almost 10 years and I can say the interface is user friendly and can be customized to fit the needs of a company

Cons: Act! didn't improve enough since we started using it and the cost is now too high for the features offered. You can find better for cheaper now.
3rd party integration is really painful and when we were ready to move to another CRM, it was a very complicated procedure.

Pros: I like the simplicity of the platform, training users was simple and adoption relatively painless. Also the data was able to be stored locally which was nice.

Cons: What i don't like is what happened when we decided to move on from ACT to a different solution. Exporting notes was nearly impossible and we had to pay for a 3rd party tool to accomplish this.

Overall: the ability to store account information and contacts. we also kept notes so that we would know why a certain client canceled.

Love the ability to customize!

Pros: We Started working with ACT many years ago. We were able to customize all parts of ACT for our specific industry.

Cons: At times getting ahold of technical support can be challenging. But the program itself is so worth it. Once you get in touch with tech they ate very helpful.

I love ACT, it's simple and easy to use so sales people actually use it.

Pros: The simplicity most CRM's are overkill, this one is not. It allows reminders and makes great notes.

Cons: it does not have a great forecasting tool. That's the only downfall I see right now of this product.

Comments: Please get me any additional information on work arounds (solutions) to ACT integration with Office 365.

Pros: I have used ACT for over 15 years. The functionality within ACT is good along with the features. It is very intuitive and easy to use.

Cons: The 3rd party integration has been an on going issue for me. Most notably integration with Office 365 and specifically Outlook. I spent hours on the phone with both ACT and Microsoft support trying to get e-mail & e-mail merge to work properly. Each pointing the finger at the other to the point I was ready to look for a new CRM. Fortunately I got it working correctly but I am still concerned about the stability of the two products together.

The best CRM I have come across - been using it since 1997 - more than 20 years!

Cons: No native Mac version. I have been using the Mac platform now for 10 years and have to run ACT! through a virtual machine which works well enough but limits functionality.
Also, the newer versions are clunkier and cumbersome compared to earlier versions. Whilst they may lack some of the bells and whistles of more modern versions, I have stuck with ACT!2000 (a.k.a. version 5.04.495 which was designed for Windows 98, and will run on no later Windows version than xp! I tried upgrading a few years ago but didn't like it as much so went back to my old version.

Pros: It is very easy to use and very basic. I like that you can right click and search by whatever field you are in.

Comments: You need to come up with your own ACT! app for iPhones and Android, instead of relying on Handheld Contact (third party app).

Pros: The basic program and options are extensive...including reporting. There is ample customization options for adding custom fields and the interface layout.

Cons: Updates or upgrades require a lot of "work around" effort uninstalling, reinstalling, removing, re-configuring, etc. There are too many steps involved each time something changes from a software update mode.

I used this software as an outside sales person to track leads, sales and timelines and projections.

Pros: It has a good interface on a laptop for quick updates. Easy to share your info with other team members and update it frequently

Comments: THere are a lot better CRM's out there figure out what you are using it for and what you need and start shopping I could suggest a few but to me they are a bit industry specific.

Pros: seems very simple and we had a long standing relationship with ACT with the in house CRM. So we had a lot of our contacts already on board and it does keep track of contacts.

Cons: When I came on board about 3 months ago I suggested going to the cloud the idea was well recieved and I contacted act. We intially had some issues uploading the information some of which I will admit was my own fault. when I did the software lagged extremely bad. I contacted the company spent almost 4 hours o the phone (mostly on hold) the first time and then didnt get a call back untill about 9:30 that night. Then the trial was running out with out the issue being resolved I asked them to extend it while we tried to fix the issue they told me I had to buy it and then they would be able to fix it....

Pros: There seems to be a lot of functionality and ability to work in-depth with contacts and the information provided with the contacts.

Cons: It is not easy to have more than one person work off of the same database and keep everything integrated. We sync with Gmail and at this time it only allows for one account to sync email messages. We can sync the contacts to multiple accounts with the help of a third party software but only one for the Gmail messages.

This is the worst CRM ever! I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.

Pros: It is easy to use when it actually works. I receive emails advising my current version is expiring quite often so it keeps me informed regularly.

Cons: The syncing feature doesn't not always work between the different platforms that we have in our office. In an office of Sales Reps, we need a CRM that will sync in real time but sometimes this CRM won't sync for an hour which makes it difficult for us to schedule appointments for our Sales Reps.

Overall: It is easy to use when it is working correctly.

Pros: I like how it's easy to you, how it integrates with Microsoft and google very well. I like some feature like creating dynamic groups and the search function.

Cons: Everything is contact base rather than company base. Support is very expensive and if you need the program to do something more than what comes out of the box you might be looking into support services from a professional if you are not savvy enough.

Pros: It has a lot of features and using the ACT! Premium its installed onto my PC and allows me to use an App as well. It can be very customizable and doesn't have a huge monthly cost.

Cons: It can take forever to input information unless you have extra software that streamlines the process. It is very customizable and at times that can be bad thing, especially if you don't know what you are doing. You can screw it up.

Overall: It does keep accurate records of when I contacted someone and reminds me when to follow up.

Comments: I have tried to replace ACT! with another CRM, Contact Management program. Evaluating the value/cost/functionality/support (SalesForce Basic is more expensive and doesn't come with tech support). For the 20 years I've used ACT! I'm still there, plus I introduced it to a bank's division since it was/is easy to use. As a note, I do not rate an A in technical know-how. One might say I'm a semi-knowledgeable user.

Pros: I use ACT! because it is relatively easy to use with many very useful functions. Tracking and organizing emails, sent and received as well as phone calls becomes almost routine. Several years ago I was updating database and came across an old, maybe 10 years, client who's daughter's birth date I had entered after a call. I called him up, only a week late, to wish his daughter Happy Birthday. After being shocked that I would remember I got a new assignment from his company.

Cons: India call centers = MAJOR weakness. User since the 1990s, V 1.0. Swiftpage is 4th owner. Must have TECHNICAL SUPPORT contract.

Pros: Ease set up and use. Ease in creating many databases - I have one I use all the time, a personal database and one large database of ace, true value and doitbest stores that I can search for contact info. Support is great.

Cons: Sometimes the software breaks...for example I have two pc's and I sometime want act info availabe on both. Sometime the conections are not there. I call support and they fix.

Pros: I was probably one of the first purchasers of Act. It is a great program that needs a company to put some serious thought behind making it work better. After shopping several other CRM software's I still think it is above the rest in both user friendly and functionality. You price for the product is more than fair (in fact, I think low) but the software runs like it is somebody's part time job.

Cons: Customer service is the worst. The guys in India are great and I have nothing bad to say about them but is there some reason I need to sit on a phone 45 minutes waiting to speak to the representative? Again I think Act could be the CRM leader but I don't see much improvement over the past few years. The principles of this company have sat back and let opportunities walk by not focusing on the customers needs. With all the apps and technologies available Act should have more to offer.When I purchase a product I do not expect to have to spend hours chasing down my answers through videos.

Comments: I would not recommend the purchase of the product to anyone, whether an individual or company. If you are willing to spend additional funds for their service/support fee from the start just to get the product to work, then this is the product for you. The "customer service" group is basically another sales arm to sell you online service/support.

Pros: Long time user (20+ years) of previous versions and had few issues. The only thing I liked about this version was the reputation from previous use of the older versions.

Cons: Not sure how good the product actually is. It never worked. Absolutely no support from day 1 unless you are willing to contract with them on a monthly or annual basis. The product didn't work when loaded and can't use it the way it is. Won't do anything about it from a support standpoint. Never saw a company that had no intentions of supporting it 1 second after purchase. Would not return email or calls once the credit card went through.

Comments: I bought the license in October 2016 for one year. $. Every month they "update" their system which causes 2-3 hours of downtime every single month. Sometimes it takes 3 hours to get the company's tech division in Chennai India. In Chennai, they have a lot of storms and it knocks their power out frequently. Stay away.

Comments: We stayed on 6.0 because it was rock solid and offered everything we needed for 15 years. Now we are upgrading to the Cloud Version. So far they have been the most responsive on call backs and info regarding our questions about a new system.

Overall: Have been an ACT user for over a decade. Works well, but syncing with Outlook and Gmail has been rough. Version 19 is much better, but still needs some work. It would be nice if ACT provided tech support for the first 90 days without paying all the time. Also would like to see contact photos added as it is in Outlook.

Recommendations to other buyers: Add contact photos similar to Outlook and iPhone contacts. Improve choices for syncing with Gmail calendar and Outlook. Add symbol to advise owner that the syncing with Outlook or Gmail is working correctly. I always have to check after sending emails to see if really added it to the history.

Once this has been added, you can display any photo you like within the field. Regarding the Outlook email history attachments, there is an icon that looks like an envelope with a red X which will display in your taskbar if there are some emails which have been sent but not attached to an Act! contact. Pros: Very easy to use. Easy to back up and easy to customize.

Cons: It has a tendency to add my contact to repeat appointments. A glitch in the system I find VERY annoying.

Overall: I have used ACT! Since version 2.0. I love it still. It is very powerful and functional even though I hardly use the advanced features.

Overall: I have used ACT for over 20 years now in my business. I find it to be very user friendly once customer service explains to me anything I don't know. It integrates well with email and excel programs. A classic contact database system for all!

Recommendations to other buyers: Love the way I have just learned to export certain ID status contacts into excel programs for labels and sharing . Yee haw!

Comments: When we got the first PC over 20 years ago, we looked for contact software for my husband's business. The products we found were ACT! and GoldMine. At the time ACT! seemed more robust. I set up my husband's data base and created custom forms for his business. The software did everything he needed. We are both retired now and the business database contains only a few people. I finally got the personal address books (plural!) consolidated in ACT! some years ago and also use it to maintain Christmas card lists and to print envelopes. I keep notes on directions to peoples homes, children, grandchildren, etc. etc. It seems a bit expensive for my purposes, but I haven't found any "address book" software that can do what I'm accustomed to having in ACT! Since I don't need the latest and greatest features, I don't update the software every time there is a new version. I do appreciate being to pay a single charge for the software as opposed to a monthly fee. Since you took over ACT!, my only contact has been to upgrade my software. I did pay for installation support this time. I don't remember the man's name at the moment, but he was great - especially since there was a problem with the install which he was able to correct. Keep up the good work.

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Some of the features I will never use and some of the features take some time to learn how to use.

Overall: I have been using the program for 15 years. I like that when I last upgraded I did not have to learn everything over again! Microsoft does this and I don't care for it. I use mostly the contact database. However, I expect to purchase another copy of the program because of a new contract that will have extensive telemarketing and reporting.

Pros: I can track my customers and their email addresses.

Cons: The confusion with accessing customers.

Overall: Sometimes the amount of data is confusing because there are so many programs to monitor. I would find it easier if there was a program attached the file explaining usage without having to call tech support.

Pros: That it is pretty easy to use without training.

Overall: I really like my Act for helping me be paperless. Putting reminders when to get back with a customer. Putting mailing list together. It basically takes the place of my private secretary.

Pros: It does what I need it to do and it's easy to use

Overall: I work from home and Act is like having a secretary in my office to keep track of all my customers for me. Its easy to use has a lot of features although I probably don't use it for everything it can do.
I have been using it for over 15 years and wouldn't think of using anything else.

Pros: Relatively easy to learn to use. Great for scheduling follow up calls, initial contacts and meetings.

Cons: Occasionally it has some "glitches" that cause it to close but I have not lost any info yet.

Overall: This is a great product for managing a large number of customer contacts including those with multiple activities and those needing specific follow up. Makes customer emails and history VERY easy and literally at your fingertips!

Pros: Ability to stay in contact, especially the reminders it is capable of generating

Cons: Sometimes slow to load. It still doesn't load the necessary SQL files.

Overall: I depend on ACT to keep in touch with my clients for Annual Reviews and Birthday Cards. I send cards to all family members so it helps to keep my name in front of them. Couldn't be a successful agent without it.

Comments: I find use of ease is good for how we use the program. I would like to be able to duplicate a contact with the Groups section to also copy and that the Groups section could be edited from the Company screen for all the contacts. All of the other benefits I find great. I also greatly appreciate the wonderful customer service when I call in!!!!

Pros: Allows me to record my complete history of contact with my prospects and customers

Overall: Been using ACT for over 30 years tracking my sales contacts and customers. Helps me track when I've talked to people and what we talked about. Also records my emails. Use it monthly to send out newsletters and promotions with the Mailmerge feature. Great tool!

Cons: Want you to pay extra for Tech Support. Plus Tech Support is out of India. Language barrier.

Overall: Needed help, they told me I had to buy tech support. I had bought this and then a couple months later I needed help. Wanted me to spend more money. Plus, tech support is all outsourced to India. Do NOT BUY!!! I called a manager in AZ asking for my money back, she was not helpful at all and would not give my money back. Not friendly at all! They can take their software and put it where the sun doesn't shine. I will never buy a thing from the company!

Cons: Losing call notes when I have to reinstall.....and Windows 10 does not support SQL, so have to make sure its running

Overall: Very easy and useful. I can set up my own fields and layouts, export easily for reports or maps. Highly recommend.

Pros: Easy to use. Stable unless it gets bogged-down with attachments, but cleaning the database fixed that issue.

Cons: We wish that the database could be a little bit robust. Our contacts have reached over 40,000 now, and it seems that ACT is a program designed for smaller databases.

Overall: We use ACT every single day! I like the easy installation, support has been great as well! We haven't tried the remote function yet, but would like to sometime this year.

Cons: The ACT e marketing could be changed but we maybe a unique circumstance.

Overall: We had a few issues with this product but the ACT! support team has resolved them quickly with minimal down time. Their knowlagebase is also a huge help to all the users of ACT!. We are currently running V17 but looking at migrating to their cloud version.

Cons: Update the templates in mail merge function. They are really old.

Overall: ACT is an outstanding CRM tool, but we use it in multiple ways to not only connect and keep connecting with our customers and prospects, but also use the mail merge function to create packing slips, invoices, and sales orders for our products. Smaller firms leverage all tools they have, and ACT is used across our platform for many multiple uses making it most cost effective and productive for our operation.

I've always had great customer service from the reps. Very friendly and resourceful individuals
