I needed to buy more for my projects and dreams. Pros As soon as I got into brilliant directories, I immediately had 80%+ of my membership site done. The ease of use and add-ons is ridiculously insane and worth the investment. It beats having to pay for multiple subsc riptions for Wordpress plugins. Cons If I could see a bit more modern and minimal looks of the sites aesthetic it would make it a dream come true. Pros It's a full potential platform, not only for creating directories but also courses, community, blog and landing pages. I like the ability to customize, LEGO like which enables you to create anything in the context that this platform allows. I see also in a way that can be scalable starting with digital products then a blog then, community and directory. I like the documentation that allow you to find anything you want to create along a with a five star team that is always ready to help. This also give me trust that in the future this platforma will be even better because the team is actively trying to make this a better and better tool. Cons I guess is the learning curve, and I'm still managing to navigate on it to create a simple community and a blog, but this is nothing to do with BD but to the learning that must be done by me and that is innerent any platform of this kind. Some are easier I admit then others BD is so far a average learning curve. Although I'm seeing that once you start mastering the principles the rest is transversal to the all platform. Creator and Founder Health, Wellness and Fitness Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Still Using Brilliant Directories 10 Years Later" September 8, 2026 5.0 The fact that I'm still using Brilliant Directories approximately 10 years after choosing it and am now bringing to life the vision that originally led me to the platform is probably the strongest recommendation I can give. Pros I got Brilliant Directories about 10 years ago to build Pathways of Wellness. Everything you need to run and build a membership site is included. They have continually evolved, innovated and now have powerful AI tools that make their platform relevant to changing business environments and make the user experience even easier than when I first started. Their customer support team is exceptional, very responsive and helpful. Cons In the beginning, the platform was difficult to learn because it is so powerful and has so many moving parts. As a solopreneur, it was a challenge to keep up. But now they have so many resources and tools available to help guide you. Review Source BS Bruce S. Owner Used the software for: ### "Overall Good but Functionally Lacking" June 25, 2015 3.0 I rated overall low because after a year and a half we still don't have full functionality. Our issue is with the built in Payment gateway. Though my present state of our directory I should have realized would be an issue because when I bought the directory Dennis had to invoice me through "PayPal" as the payment gateway would not process any of my cards, not once but twice. When we first bought it was monthly, then I bought the life time and each time my payment would not process through the directory payment gateway. Only though PayPal was I able to make payment. I had a number of potential members complain about the same. We had to stop taking membership. I brought this issue up to BD and they said they were looking into it. Then in December 2014 they announced integration of WHMCS into the directory. Here it is June 25th, 2015 still no WHMCS integration. I joined or bought BD in December 2013. I have thousands of dollars invested and cannot count the number of man hours invested. Only to be held up by the inability to take PayPal payments for membership. Customer service keeps telling me they are working on it and will notify me when implemented. In all fairness I believe BD has great potential but functionally can be lacking because, I believe, they have made it to good, if there is such a thing. Given we cannot get into the back end it is hard to evaluate, my IT person said WHMCS integration shouldn't be that complicated given all the other functions within the directory itself. He said setting up a PayPal gateway shouldn't be that complicated but because we are limited to access to the back end of the directory our hands are tied. I have said this before. Looking good and being good is two different things! This customer has had about enough of being told it's coming. Six months now! Pros I love how elaborate or simple you can make your directory. They set a lot of things up for you as examples, which is really helpful in getting started. The payment process for memberships is very easy, the only thing you have to worry about is having a collections process in place for failed payments. Cons I think the platform could be a little more user friendly, sometimes it takes a while to find the exact location you need to go to, to change a specific term on a label. BD is constantly improving and developing, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. Pros BD has been around for so long that you automatically receive so much value from all the features they have already built into their system. They have created a sustainable business over many years, making me much more comfortable investing my time and money in developing my membership business on their platform. Cons It can be time-consuming to get your ideas and concerns elevated to a level where they can be addressed. For example, while many customer service agents are the best in the business (truly, the best), others are clearly not reading or comprehending your messages. After tons of back and forth, you will be asked to start over again and take your idea, suggestion, or problem to a separate forum. There must be a way for a support ticket to automatically be turned into a feature request without all of the redundancy that currently exists. I believe that some of their most valuable feedback is lost, buried in support tickets that are never resolved.
