Naturally when I came to Brilliant Directories I was full of questions about features, product, services, implementation and much more. my rep was super helpful and patient with my questioning. He made sure I had a good understanding and pointed out some resources where I would be able to find additional information. The price point again was a no brainier due to the additional benefits I will receive. I look forward to growing my business and sharing in that success with you guys. As I grow so will my business needs, I have no doubt that you guys will be able to help me! Now back to planning!! Business Plan and Marketing plan! Pros Ready made turn key system that I can bring to the public on my terms. From what I can see in the videos it seems simple enough and no coding is required. Love that it is an all in one package. Cons There will be a learning curve. Not sure how extensive the automation will be. A bookings system would have been handy and an easy up sell to many businesses. Something to look into so that I dont have to have a affiliate website to sell additionally. The team at Brilliant Directories are terrific and there are many avenues to find support if you need it. Excellent value for money considering this is a complete website that you can start using to generate income after just a few steps. Navigation from both the back end and front end is easy, user friendly and fast. Easy to integrate with my existing wordpress site through links - I love that it is a stand alone product. Really happy! Pros How user friendly it is and the clean layout and design. I also like that it is a stand alone product. The features are comprehensive and I know will be excellent value for my customers. Cons The upload of the categories didn't work for me via the csv file however I am yet to discuss with the support team what I may have been doing wrong. Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "What made me choose Brilliant Directories " June 25, 2016 5.0 Having spent a lot of time researching a wide range of directory systems, based on both wordpress and others, we initially started our project using a wordpress solution. We quickly discovered though that we needed a multitude of different plugins to achieve what we wanted - and with that came our big learning curve. Trying to get them to work together whilst building the site became difficult to say the least. This led us back to Brilliant Directories and a much deeper look at their solution and features. After signing up for and 'attending' one of their webinars our decision was easy and we switched our project to Brilliant Directories, something we are very confident will be proved to be the right decision. Pros Everything under one roof, including hosting. Outstanding range of features, but still with option to heavily customise. Very good customer service and a good user support network. Used the software for: ### "So far so good" January 25, 2016 5.0 My experience so far with the set-up of my first directory is going well. There is a learning curve but compared to other directory solutions, I cannot imagine there is a more straightforward solution on the market, particularly for what you get with the upfront cost. My first project is not a standard directory so time will tell as far as Brilliant Directory's capacity to meet my needs. Pros: lots of encouragement and tips; lots of training videos; offers great opportunity to self-produce a standard directory with virtually no help at all. Cons: intitial encouragement emails are clearly templates but are designed to feel personal. However, when you receive an email from someone who you have just spoken to on the phone that has no relation to the phone call, it comes across as a little fake. Suggestion: I believe the next big thing in directories is in the promotion of non-geographical internet only businesses, professionals, vloggers, bloggers, resources etc. There is no standard package for this mode of directory. I think Brilliant Directories would do well to focus on this and provide specific packages aimed at this field. Pros There were two reasons I bought Brilliant Directories within hours of discovering it! Firstly, the software itself was far better than any other directory I had found by far (including the horrible experience of trying to build one on Wordpress with ListingPro). CEO Used the software for: ### "Have not started using it yet, but have had an in depth look at the demos, videos and support qs" May 30, 2016 4.0 On surface level it seems very comprehensive and should speed up development of a directory site much better than independent modules and messing around setting them up. One Con may be that it is not built on top of wordpress, which makes a lot of our other modules and software we use redundant (we are developers and have many favourite modules we use for various parts of site building unrelated to the directories themselves), even though ultimately we may need to use something. so will have to find stand-alone html modules for special features. This means editing and tweaking and web work will probably be slower on this platform than if it was on top of wordpress.....however i bought the package as on balance the time savings from core directory features will most likely outweigh lost time on customisation and html work we need to do. Of course as brilliant directories is upgraded then we will need less and less hand coding to get it looking how we want.... Send me this survey again in 8-12 weeks once we start using it and see what i think. p.s. Excellent follow-ups about the payment issue I had, I know time zone differences make this hard for an Australian Client, but appreciate the effort made and the compensation offered to turn this into a pleasant experience after an initial issue, well done, plus getting a personal phone call as well as an email also makes a huge difference, Excellent customer service thank you. Initially, I was frustrated as we started to build the site. Trying to keep costs down, it felt like we were being nickeled and dimed when we needed extra plug-ins to make the site do what we wanted. This and the steep learning curve delayed our launch and our ability to get paying customers. Once we did launch and got our first few paying customers this all seemed like no big deal. I feel like the onboarding could be improved, but once we were up and rolling the experience has been consistently good. Pros Using a software this focused on directories means they know what the market needs, even before we do. Cons I feel the system is harder than necessary to customize. It looked horrible, it was difficult to use, I even tried hiring someone to help and they had a tough time navigating it. So I tried Brilliant Directories 14 day free trial to see if there was much of a difference. It was like night and day. I didn't need a programmer, or a fiverr gig or anyone to help. We hear you loud and clear - WordPress is great for blogs and simple websites, but when it comes to building a directory/membership website, WordPress just doesn't work. It's often too difficult to get the dozens of plugins and themes to play nice with each other. Customization with Brilliant Directories is incredibly easy thanks to the hundreds of built-in design settings, but if you want to totally transform your website, some CSS adjustments may need to be necessary, though most people don't find it to be. They have so many amazing built in features that you have to see to believe. They also have marketing and web design services you can resell to your members in addition to making money on the listings and selling of leads. Pros Matt and Jason are rockstars. I signed up with them and by the very next day my business directory for notary agents was online. I then uploaded my list of contacts and used their schedule email feature to invite them. Within 2 months I have had over 100 paying members sign up and now my directory is profitable. My members use the system to invite their friends to recommend their businesses. When I google any name in my directory, my website appears on the first page of google results. Loving it! Cons No cons just yet. I am very happy thus far and I am working to launch a few more directories. Fingers crossed. Since I did not have enough room in my previous post I returned to continue where i left off. more now about the people at Brilliant Directories. In a few words again; the software is awesome. After having muddled through other similar software's, this one is like a breath of fresh air. Amazingly easy to use , robust, rich of features and incredible support. One my main reason to have purchased this software was the people and their transparency. The instrumental person was Dennis Tinerino (Customer Success Director). The title is so apt for this chap; he oozes success and was extremely patient with 101 questions that I had for him. Never once did he loose his cool or show any sort of annoyance as I kept bombarding him with all sorts of inquires. With Dennis, he tells you like it is; upfront and clear. He was kind enough to share links to various ideas, techniques and suggestions to get me started. Although he had an opportunity to up sell me, he did not. Which I truly appreciated. We all know at the end of the day, it is people who you connect with that help you succeed and that is what I felt with Dennis. The setup was very easy, what i like most is that it's centered around generating revenue from paying members. After the setup i was ready to start billing members for their memberships and buying leads, also special banner ad placements around the site. Cons i took my time researching because it was the more expensive solutions, but i'm happy i went with Brilliant. You do get what you pay for and it's clear that there is value built in. Thus far it has been a good choice and the new version is really looking like they've taken a lot of feedback and comments and did some major updates.
