The customer service is great, always answering my questions right away. Pros I use it as a high school math teacher and it is easy to use. I post homework assignments that students can take a look at, and they can also see their grades. I can also assign the same assignments to multiple classes. Cons Overall it works pretty well. I wish there was a option for absent on the grade book. Currently there is only NA, a grade, late and not turned in. the late button and the comment sections are helpful. They've added so many features, making it better and better. Pros The Interface is highly intuitive and easy to figure out. Cons The problems I've had were that they let us purchase features that weren't actually ready. I think it wasn't fair, and it ended up creating problems, and Alma never apologizes or admits that they weren't ready. A few features don't make sense for us, and they're not customizable. As a small college-prep school with a very small administrative team, it was next to impossible for us to keep track of things like attendance and assignments on a day to day basis. We had tried other services and found them cumbersome and to have way too many features for our needs. When we implemented Alma this past summer, it was like a breath of fresh air. Using it is very simple, intuitive, and it's kept us much more connected with our families as well as allowed for parents to be able to more easily track their child's progress on a day to day basis. The one thing I really want to highlight here though is their customer service. It is, bar none, the best customer service team I've ever worked with. Responses to questions are extremely fast, patient, and kind. They are flexible with requests and are very open to feedback. I was happy with the product when we adopted it, but was blown away by the outstanding customer service. While there are definitely features that we wish Alma had (the biggest one by far being the ability to have it work well on mobile and/or have an app), in general it's been great, and they add features frequently as a growing service. I have a feeling that Alma will only improve on an already great project as time goes on. I recommend them highly. Something is never right about Alma. Very complicated. Student information we needed at the beginning did not show up right. Cons Everything. Not easy to use. I am not all that computer literate but Alma has been quite easy to learn and is capable of keeping and organizing all the information we need as a school. Pros Alma is easy to use with various features that make keeping track of grades easy and accessible. February 26, 2018 2.0 Good tutorials. It is relatively easy to learn. The gradebook makes it easy to keep track of assignments turned in. There is good data continuously available for class means and medians on assignments and tests. Students and parents have access to their current grades and missing assignments without having to ask teachers during class time. I wish that the attendance function did not default to "present" unless I actually mark present, and I wish that there were a way to create a seating chart that interfaced with the attendance. Most substitute teachers really appreciate an updated seating chart, easily printed. Pros It is easy to create and post assignments. It allows weighting of grades. Nice data summaries of grades. Being able to access school-wide student schedules and contact information is helpful. Cons Does not have the capability to create a seating chart for attendance. Roster printing is inefficient. " February 27, 2018 4.0 Pros Though it took some time to get adjusted to a new management system, the people of Alma were always willing to listen and try to meet our needs. The best part of the system is it is continuing to grow, new features are added monthly. Cons The system works relatively smoothly, but there are times where I need a specific report that I cannot pull. There is a form builder beta that I am looking forward to see developed. Cons It is still difficult to create your own reports, but the interface is progressing. We are also working towards a Data Warehouse solution that is still in the building stages. ICT Teacher Used the software for: ### "In terms of vision, mission and execution Alma is far ahead of the competition" April 10, 2016 4.0 Alma is powerful, feature-rich and there exists no significant initial learning curve for teachers and students alike. For school administrators it is still pretty hard to setup correctly though. Especially, if your school is not a typical US school. In that case your requirements might differ, but Alma can and did definitely help with almost any situation imaginable. Alma's recent April'2016 upgrade is wonderful. I can just click and enter a grade right into the 'live' gradebook. I have missed this feature so much since my experience with Engrade. I am super happy about these and other recent developments. In fact, we probably use only 50% of the system's capabilities, because Alma could make a better case of training its user base e.g. by means of tutorials and webcasts. At this price point, Alma is going to succeed and spread like a wild fire. It is that good. Their customer service is great and has made grading smooth for me as an educator. Pros I love the detail that can be used to record grades. The specificity that we can input for grading (standards based grading) is great! I love that you can also record multiple standards for one assignment.
