Pros: Kareo provides a great service at a reasonable price, It integrates well with WebPT which allows for single entry.

Cons: The set up and customer service are hard to reach and deal with. I think some of that is because we are on the east coast and Kareo is on the West

Pros: I liked how easy it was to learn the software. It was easy to catch on quick and get used to using all the features.

Cons: Sometimes the online help system online was not very useful because I would type in a question and it would give me a broad answer.

Potential to be a Great EHR, not updating probelms fast enough.

Pros: Great Value especially when a practice is starting off. Simple Practice Management and Great Tutorials for training. My sales Rep. Don Yates is the reason I selected the product.

Cons: Customer Service is too slow to respond. Other EHR I'm looking at are constantly improving, suggestions I've made in the past seem to never be fixed.

Pros: The software is easy to learn and use. It is easy to verify the patients insurance and you can save it each time you verify it.

Cons: not an easy way to apply credits to another service line or another date of service, clearing house rejections do not always have a clear explanation to why they reject. When charting, it will not auto save and if you do not do chart quick enough, it will kick you out of the system and you loose everything you've charted on.

Comments: All in all is a great software

Pros: Love this system. Very easy to learn. We use this for billing in combine with webpt. Reasonable price

Cons: The toll free is not accesible in our area. I just request a weekly sales report if possible to add it

Comments: Calender should be printed in the grid format rather than each appointment, so that appropriate time grids can be maintained well.

Pros: Ease of use, text shortcut features are awesome, ease of loading the template to initiate the note.

Cons: Needs more categorization for templates regarding therapy and rehabilitation. Printing the notes is a challenge as you have to print them one by one. If there is a feature to print multiple notes at same time, it will be really helpful to save time and make the chart at the end of treatment course, rather than printing one note at a time.

Comments: There is too much advertisement in Kareo

Pros: When I started my new position I had to train myself on Kareo. It was pretty easy to navigate as a new user.

Cons: When scheduling in Kareo, the calendar made it difficult to make an appointment due to the size of current patients on that screen. When I cancel an appointment advertisement pops up as soon as I cancel and won't let me navigate away.

Pros: It connects with Webpt so providers can create the visits and send to Kareo. The no response feature is great to see what hasn't paid in a time frame you pick. When creating statements, it allows you to post payments and recalculate statements before sending. Customer support is always helpful

Cons: The auto post feature on secondaries, post a duplicate write off amount, creating a false credit. Encounters and claims are separate. If you want to change something on a claim you have to find the encounter first. Set up is lengthy but Kareo helps

Overall: Less headaches and frustration

Comments: If product is not working why should I have to pay full price for 2 months when program was less than functional

Pros: able to fox rejections right from rejection screen. Ease if use. Moves quickly. I cant really find that many pros at the moment. I always have cases open that take months to be resolved.

Cons: Customer service. the fact that there is always an issue and case open for months at a time. Its hard to use a product that is always less than operational

Comments: Kareo has been a good fit for my practice.

Pros: I like that the EHR and billing portions are integrated and I like the ease of use. It was very easy to learn how to use Kareo's EHR and billing software. I like the web app so I can work from home.

Cons: The only con I've found so far is that when I sign a chart note, the note is closed so then I have to reopen it to e-fax it.

Extremely frustrating, very poor functionality. After 1 year I left the company.

Pros: Initially, the electronic software (EHR) was free, which allowed considerable forgiveness of the product. I initially appreciated the technical support from people who cared about their product and service. Unfortunately, the most common replies to questions from I.T. were apologies for not being able to provide what customers wanted and needed the most, see below.

Cons: 1. Creating progress notes frustrating. Must save notes before changing screens, otherwise all information LOST. No auto-save. Saving data prior to change in screen, must save and CLOSE the document. Multiple steps to re-open again. Always inefficient.
2. Doctorbase is an "answering device for providers" to provide caller's phone number. The glitch for NEW callers: NO NAME provided, no message recorded. 10-15 "unknown" callers by end of day: 1/2 -3/4 were salesmen or bankers wanting to give loans.
3. When I changed companies, unable to transfer data in bulk. Had to transfer every patient individually. Other companies ALL had ability for bulk transfer. Would have to transfer emails individually, all 15,000.
4. Limited & unsophisticated ability to create progress notes to limit key strokes.
5. Requesting program upgrades: infrequent, rarely helpful, never quick or responsive even for minor change requests.
6. Initial support staff NEVER heard from again. I had to sort out problems by trial and error . I had 10 years prior experience in sophisticated programs before this disaster.
7. This is only a few of the problems I had before leaving. 6 months later, I received a call from Kareo asking how I would like to improve my experience & upgrade the system. They apparently did not know I was long gone.
8. Working with pharmacies never smooth or easy.
9. Many more issues, unfortunately, that I have suppressed.

Overall: From Kareo: no significant benefit, mainly frustration.
From your program to review Kareo: this was easy, helpful and productive. You know how to keep a person on-point.

Comments: I would not recommend doing business with Kareo at all. Their products are sub-par. I have found out just how sub-par in the last 3 months of transitioning. Any organization that continues to charge a customer's credit card after twice confirming a plan cannot be trusted, and that was after numerous other broken promises. The people we worked with were all very nice, but the systems they had to work in failed to actually assist customers. Please invest your time and resources elsewhere.

Pros: Our small 2 provider office started out relatively successfully with Kareo about 4 years ago with both EHR and Practice Management (PM). I thought my trainer did a good job. After that...it was downhill.

Cons: We added three more providers in time. Kareo's promised functionality on their PM platform didn't receive attention, support or vision that really paid off on the user end. The EHR experienced minor improvements that were hailed as miracles, however still lacked significant benefits. Kareo transitioned to charging for EHR and the communication with us at least failed completely. It took 2 months to come up with an agreement our office felt was fair, however it was all initiated by us. Their solution was to give us 30 days to transition to a new platform, which since it takes 3 months to implement their program, I pointed out that wasn't really reasonable. We have fought to get our data in any type of usable format, both clinical and business and spent 100+ hours trying to get it through the back door. Really, a very very disappointing experience.

Pros: Very user friendly, nice appearance, easily able to access topics, reports, and other clinical data such at progress reports with Quality and patient education. I do really like the help tips provided within the patient charts as well.

Comments: I am puzzled by previous positive reviews that I read when researching products for a new practice compared to my experiences with other products in the past and my experiences in trying to implement Kareo. When Kareo was free, people must felt it sufficed and not worth complaining. The total lack of response to questions or complaints is surreal. I do not see how this company can survive. I'm trying to figure out whether to bail out now or try to adapt to get at least something from my investment of time so far.

Pros: It allows flexibility to structure notes to include narrative information.

Cons: Can't get answers to questions or any sensible follow up from startup coach who always states that he will check with a colleague and get back to us but never does. This is the worse customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Requests to talk with a supervisor lead nowhere. No one responds. Chat line staff sign off on problem tickets before reported problem resolved. Problems abound in almost every area--saved notes disappear without explanation, e-prescribing is cumbersome and not suited to work flow typical office practice. There is no training module and no instrcutions available for the e fax services through updox, no glossary of error messages, not reliable transmission to send or receive.

Comments: One major draw for EMR systems is customizability, I feel with Kareo I wasn't able to customize the EMR to the providers' needs.

Pros: The system was easy to use, basically click on an area and type in your medical chart. Easy to use on most platforms (both Apple and PC).

Cons: Patient eligibility was faulty. The patients eligibility was "unable to be determined" more often than not, we had to use third party sites or call for verification of eligibility.

Pros: It's inexpensive so that's attractive for a small clinic. It's also helpful that it's cloud based .

Cons: The PM and EHR don't always work together. Scheduling is cumbersome. Former employees are still listed and can't be deleted. Customer support is poor.

I began to use this system with templates that I created. I have used different systems and found this feature to be difficult. I have designed my own website so I am not a stranger to template making tasks.

Comments: I appreciate the discount for e prescribing only. I am a single person office, pay for a schedule system that is excellent and allows the pt. to prepay, and tech support is five + stars.

Pros: I can e prescribe and this is a great time saver. However, I would like to more easily print scripts for controlled substances without using 1 sheet per script. I treat ADHD and my patients often require 6 scripts.I do not use the scheduler, notes, etc. Because I do not take insurance, it appears that the insurance features would be beneficial. I also like the ability to find diagnoses for ICDM-10 by referencing ICDM-9.

Cons: One must find the pharmacy in demographics so as not to waste time. Using the prescription generator oftentimes will display those applicable pharmacies as does the demographics page.

Comments: Disappointing.

Pros: The system is fairly easy to use. Our original account representative was extremely helpful. When I would request certain reports, she would make sure that I received them monthly.

Cons: Watch you AR. If you commit to them the billing portion, they do not work your agin AR (even when I would call hem to find out the status.) Posting to patient's accounts would go to a line item, and not separated, which would make it look like the patient had a balance. Kareo (which is not located in the US) only does data entry for the insurance reimbursements, if there is a coding issue, they let it expire and do not have an issue with not collecting any funds. Also, if you don't stay on top of it, there are entries of write off's that the office is never informed of.

Pros: Pros would consist of the ease of learning the fundamentals of working the EHR. It is pretty self explanatory once you fire up the application.

Cons: Our practice is located in Arizona, and the time on our EHR is incorrect since the base of kareo is located in California our system is on California time as opposed to Arizona. We have brought this issue to kareo, nothing was done there was no resolution to this matter and the time is still incorrect. One major issue that we are having is, we use a desk top for the use of kareo and as well as an Apple IPad. We are having an issue accessing "labs and studies" on the iPad and every time we open up this tab our app not only kicks us out but does not allow us to access the labs from the iPad thus causing Dr. Patel to then have to leave patients room come to the front to look at the labs, majorly taking away from Doctor Patient time. This matter has been brought to kareo's attention numerous amounts of times, and still it is not resolved we have been having this issue now for a total of 3-4 months. We call and receive a very typical answer from them stating that "we have our engineers working on it and someone will give you a call" no one ever gives our office a call back. we are very dissatisfied at this point with kareo and cons definitely out weigh the pros with this system.

Pros: What I like most is the ease from moving from one area to another without having to close everything down and reopen it.

Pros: lots of options in reports, but not easy to figure out. colors of screens are easy on the eyes. no other good comments.

Cons: Poor training. poor customer service. errors that I do not get answers on. Does not pull in appointment code & ending date of service, using Care360 for EMR. Pulling up info - not enough info shows. No place to make recommendations (like when pulling up the list of "encounters", which insurance is it). Too many steps to find the patient balance, why is it not on the first patient screen. Also, copay, have to add an extra step in to find copay for insurance unless the patient has a card. Difficult to figure out what needs to be fixed on denials. No place to put the reason the patient is coming in that will cross over. So an "office visit" for any reason, we make a note and then have our staff print that day's appointments - or flip between systems. I have over 30 years experience, the sixth system I have been on, and I am NOT happy.

Overall: I cannot honestly say that has given up much benefit = perhaps more options for reports.

Pros: Not much. The orange guy logo? That about sums up my likes. I have nothing nice or positive to contribute.

Cons: Kareo is outdated and difficult to navigate compared to other available software. It lacks functionality and intuition, completely incapable of anticipating the needs of its user. The ability to sort through super bills is RIDICULOUSLY inefficient. (I have many examples of poor software design, that is making my life hell.) The soft ware has so many "An unexpected error has occurred" alerts that prevents me from entering the patient chart and no one on the support team ever knows how to fix it. I was unable to view my patient charts for 7 days with NO SOLUTION from program designers. There is a significant lack of accountability for their shortcomings which needs to be addressed urgently. I am getting further and further behind in my documentation because this error message prevents me from viewing notes at all. I have been told 2x now that a supervisor will call me back. NO ONE ever does. It was fixed very briefly last week, but here I am again... MASSIVE improvements to expand the functionality are needed. Kareo is not a big player in our market, and likely never will be if big changes are not made. Immediate attempts to find SOME tools that will drive efficiency are critical. This EHR software is NOT designed to save medical organizations time and effort in processing patient information, as much as they may think it does.

Pros: Our Providers find entering notes for patient visits to be very user friendly and billing finds posting payments for patients to be easier than our previous system.

Cons: Reporting options are limited. Cannot scheduling recurring bi-weekly appointments (which is a regular thing for our office) Electronic eligibility check does not work.

Pros: Easy interface that is simple and fairly fluid. Staff with limited EHR systems are able to learn Kareo quickly.

Cons: Too many glitches and inadequate access to customer support. Unacceptable to wait over 24 hours for assistance with an urgent/critical system issue.

Kareo has been instrumental in billing "clean claims" to the insurance.

Pros: Easy to navigate and customer service is professional and helpful. Claim rejections are informative as far as what is needed by the payer and enrollment assistance is easy to access. Claim scrubbing can be done for each new patient which creates smooth billing for ongoing claims.

Cons: Not enough variety for report options and the custom report option is too complicated. Billing secondary claims can be perplexing trying to attach the primary remit information to the claim. The sort method for some of the screens could have more options.

Overall: Clean claims

Comments: There is a lot of click here and click there to get anywhere, which I believe this software should be easier to use than the older software that we had, but it is not. takes more time to do anything. There is no discharge feature. I wish customer service would be more helpful.

Pros: Very inexpensive, easy set up. Getting clearance from the insurances to switch over to the new clearing house was a piece of cake.

Cons: customer service is hard to get once they think your all set. So now I am trying to train myself. UGH!!!!

The EHR does not have many bells and whistles. As a free service it sacrificed, however the options do not compare with most other services on the market in the new price range.

Comments: Kareo is similar to PracticeFusion except they now charge a few for the EHR. If the company had made changes in the operating platform to keep it modern like other programs on the market it would be great, not all programs have iPad apps; otherwise it's a waste of money and would recommend picking something different.

Pros: Familiar with software and functions. Easy to use and maneuver. Web-based and compatible with MAC. iPad application available for tablet users.

Cons: Rates are fairly comparable with other EHR systems, however Kareo does not often the functions that are available on most EHRs. Not compatible with all specialties. Support is hit and miss.

KAREO is difficult to use for Beahvioral Health.

Pros: Very easy to learn how to use on your own. Other than that, it is not the easiest program to use for behavioral health.

Cons: Very slow and cumbersome and not user-friendly for counselors 1 Cannot enter groups all at once (having a preloaded listing of clients and enter a visit in and have it populate automatically in all their charts) 2 No treatment planning option at all; other programs have treatment plans that ties notes and counselors to specific treatment plans (cannot update them electronically); 3 Even when you choose more than 10 clients per page, you still have to scroll down; window does not fit screen; if you get out of it, it defaults back to 10 clients; slows down progress 4 You should be able to print all notes out for client at one time I have worked at both the state and federal level and while their systems were much more in-depth, they were more user-friendly and ease of navigation.

Comments: For a small practice, this is one of the. Ost cost effective programs I have seen.

Pros: Progress note generates the billing. Professional reports, professional looking statements Can add timed codes for medicare patients so you can avoid a billing error. Can fax evaluation dirctly to MD upom creation .

Cons: Cannot have two "user windows" open at once without paying additional money for 2 PTs. For example, I would like to be able to document on my ipad while in a room with a patient, and then comp, ete the note on my PC in my main gym area. I have to exit out, then sign back in on a different device, taking 4 steps instead of 2. Doesnt sound like much, but adds up to a lot of time over the course of a day. Many of the features have additional rcurring fees. (Schedule, outcomes,) Not all fields are customizable. You can add "smart text" for frequently used phrases, but this option is not available on every field. For example, cannot add smart text to the Plan, or to Assessment. Have asked many times if could be added, but it has never been put in update.

Comments: I am currently looking for another program. Apparently I have been right all these years. You get what you pay for.

Pros: I don't particularly like the program. As soon as I can find something else I am done with it.

Cons: Difficult to navigate. Lacks simple features like being able to enter a written Rx and enter the date it was written rather than the date it was entered. Poor tech support. I asked how to print out a list of patient names, addresses and phone numbers. I was given instructions in an email, that I had already tried and they still didn't work. No one ever answered my question definitively. This is the right way to do it. No, we can't do it. No, we can't do something as simple as print out a phone list of your patients is unacceptable. I have asked about EPCS on several occasions and was told it was not available in WA. I decided to subscribe to Dr. First and was told that they do the EPCS for Kareo. It is, in fact, available and apparently has been for awhile.

Comments: After spending about 10-15 hours learning Kareo and starting to develop templates, I threw in the towel and canceled it. Thank goodness I was on a free 30-day trial period. The straw that broke the camel's back was not being able to schedule non-patient appointments and being told my request would not be dealt with by the engineers in the near future. They have their "roadmap" set for the next few months already and take customer input on a quarterly basis.

Pros: When I asked to speak to a manager, I got someone who was professional, nice, and apologetic for some problems I ran into. The "success training coach" was very friendly and genuinely seemed like he wanted to help and accommodate any request.

Cons: The sales rep did not communicate to the "success training coach" what I needed to have my EHR configured. We wasted hours on the phone trying to figure it out. Had she just communicated my needs to him ahead of time, he could have solved the issues behind the scenes, instead of having me lose a few hours of valuable time. After all of that, when I started using the system, I discovered you cannot book a non-patient appointment!!! The system does not allow you to schedule meetings or non-patient related phone calls!

Pros: Change is always hard at first, and at first I was not happy. When things are made easier for you and you can not tell; you rebel. I was wrong...the more I used Kareo the more I found it to be so helpful in running a small medical office.

Keeping track of charges, billing, claim transmission, and statements all made easy

Cons: The Cons are not as negative as other issues. The program shuts down when an error occurs; yet nothing is ever loss.

Overall: It covers all the aspects we need to keep record and track of claims

Pros: This software provides beatiful EHR templates for charting. You can also create your own specified templates but the pre-made ones suffice. Along with that the scheduling in the EHR is easy to use and you can create a patient if they aren't in the database and you need to schedule a new patient.

Cons: Customer service is one of the worst providing customer service I have experienced. Dedicated members of managed billing, enrollments, and marketing don't even communicate efficiently. They also have you do their job at times when they have the resources at hand to figure things out yourself. You'll spend more time trying to get the certified medical biller and coder to do their job than taking care of patients.

Overall: An electronic health record system that works but even in itself has too many shortcomings for taste.

Cons: Poor customer service, they would not refund money after they placed me into wrong subscription category.

They continued to charge my bank account for 2 months after I cancelled and did not offer a refund.

Pros: It has a marketing solution

Cons: It does not create an automatic narrative attached to ICD10 codes as you click on options.

Overall: As a start-up and not being able to open for several months, having your arm twisted to purchase an PM/EMR/Billing solution is not being considerate on the part of Kareo. A start up has many things to do and many things to invest in without wasting money on a system that will not be used due to time constraints. We paid from our limited resources for nothing for a couple of months. Even after canceling they are still trying to bill us. I consider them to be insensitive to the needs of a start-up and would not recommend them. They have a good sales pitch but my trust level was completely destroyed and I switched to another company.

Recommendations to other buyers: Start-ups with limited resources should not be pressured into buying any software until they know that other priorities are out of the way. Otherwise they will pay for something they will not be using for a couple of months.

Overall: KAREO IS HORRIBLE!!! They're customer service is rude. They're account representatives are illiterate.

They do not know how to bill for services. We tried Kareo for a time. They sent out invoices to people who never should have been billed and for the people who were supposed to be billed they never sent an invoice. They're expensive for extremely poor work. We could not wait to get away from this company and now they're denying us access to our old notes. We often receive requests from lawyers, insurance companies, other physicians for our patients notes, but Kareo will no longer allow us access to the old notes unless we pay...

It's clear to me that this company is in trouble if they have to insist on payment to access old notes that the doctor documented on his patients. We are now looking into litigation and we will sue for our records. This company WITHOUT QUESTION and most assuredly is destined for failure. IT's inevitable. AGAIN IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT USING THIS SERVICE, KAREO, FOR ANY OF YOUR MEDICAL OFFICE NEEDS I IMPLORE YOU TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. THIS COMPANY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT MEDICAL BILLING, SCHEDULING AND THEY REALLY, REALLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT DECENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT. ALL THIS COMPANY CARES ABOUT IS $$$$$$$$$.......TAKE IT FROM ONE WHO KNOWS...MOST INCOMPETENT.

Comments: I am currently using this EHR because my billing company recommended it since they use the Kareo practice management. It has been a nightmare for me having used a much better EHR - Athena. The onboarding process was a disaster and after 3 months, the lab integration has not been completed with labcorp and there is no follow-ups. I have to initiate every contact with my coach who should be reaching out to me to make sure that my transition to kareo is seamless. There is no integration with Imaging centers so you have to order the tests and then manually fax to the imaging center unlike Athena. When it comes to labs, you cannot find some of them like a common FIT test to screen for colon cancer. How about e-prescribing? Forget about prescribing common diabetes supplies like test strips, lancet or OTC medications, they are not there. With Athena, once you start typing the name of the supply you need, it pulls everything up and you can transmit those to the pharmacy electronically. For those you now want to fax to the pharmacy manually, the pharmacy name, phone or fax # does not even show on the prescription so you have to go back to the patient's chart and go to somewhere in the demographics to find the fax # and then write it down or memorize before faxing. When you place a referral, you cannot attach documents such as labs, radiology reports to the referral before efaxing. What is the point efaxing just a referral and then printing out other relevant records that should accompany the referral to manually fax....so dumb. How about releasing a patient result to their portal, you are not able to comment on the results that you are releasing to the patient. You have to send a different message to the patient after you have already released the results. Now, I keeping getting an error sending a message to patients through the portal using Google chrome browser and Firefox with different computers and they don't have any clue what is going on. I can't get any help with the technical support or my coach. They created a case and that's it. I guess I need to be calling them and taking time from caring for the patients to be doing that before I can resolve any issues.

Pros: Frankly, I do not see any

Cons: Everything

Comments: I signed up for a one month free trial and gave my credit card info for same. They told me they required a card on file and would not charge it until after the first month and someone would confirm with me before I was charged. I had trouble logging onto the website and it took three work days for anyone to get back to me to reset my password. So, I was not able to practice any of the over-the-phone training because I could not log into the account. A "success coach" arranged a training session for me, but it was not practicable because I could not log into Kareo in my own account. Finally, three weeks into the free one-month trial and unimpressed with customer service, I requested to cancel by sending an email to the training department, accounting department, a "success coach", and the individual who signed me up originally, and it has been two days and not one person has acknowledged my request to cancel the account. I am afraid that my credit card will be charged at any time because I have been unable to log into the account to remove my credit card information.

Comments: the program seemed to have great reports about income, revenue, A/R, etc.. however not the best for scheduling and managing the practice It was difficult to see clearly what had been done, what needed to be done and what payments were missing; it was difficult to tailor to my practice, since the way private practice runs, you never get the full payment; but I would still need to know what wasn't paid by insurances in a clearer manner

Pros: the report generation was good

Cons: not flexible enough to fulfill the needs of a mental health practice

Recommendations to other buyers: may be ok for strictly medical practice - but also not the greatest with scheduling/had several issues

Comments: I have been with Kareo since 2011. There have been some growing pains with the EHR. The support used to be outstanding but now it is very poor. Unanswered help tickets. Losing clients in cue for a help tickets or transfers.

Pros: The Practice Management portion is very user friendly.

Cons: They steal your clients by telling them to use Kareo's billing service so that your client can get all the training and support they need for EHR and Meaningful Use. Support lacks training in helping your clients resolve issues. They are most likely to tell you that there is an issue on your side. I think the most horrifying part of this is they will not provider your client's support but are more than welcome to take your client from your business and supposedly provides them with outstanding support. I have had first hand experience with Kareo's in house billing. They are another company that only providers data entry and fails to tell the providers that they need an in house biller anyway.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be cautious right now about Kareo.

Pros: The support is excellent and you can always get a live voice to discuss issues and develop solutions.

Cons: Would like to see the cost come down a bit.

Overall: We are a small practice, and handling the office management, administration and billing was taking too much time and manpower to address. The Kareo Practice Management app allows me to stay on top of issues and keep my practice running well. Their billing team is excellent and we have a dedicated team leader from Kareo (Tanya) who is outstanding. They have kept my A/R aging under control and have really helped me deal with the many hurdles you can face with insurance companies. I have been able to use my time on running and growing our business and have been able to focus our small office staff on customer service and revenue generating activities.Strongly recommend you check Kareo out.

Comments: Started small with just the billing platform and have expanded to billing support, EHR, and marketing. The EHR and billing work seamlessly and accounts can be viewed in EHR. Pt reminders are via phone, text and email. Most insurance verification can be done on the platform. Labs and other ancillary services can download results into the EHR.

Pros: It's the total package. You can purchase as much support or as little as you feel you need. Marketing made a big difference for us. The pt reminders have made a huge difference also.

Cons: Sometimes your team gets changed and there is a getting to know you stage.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do the EHR and billing platform together. Some EHRs claim they can work 100% with a billing platform but once you've experienced it, and experienced lost data that didn't translate over, you won't go back.

Comments: We have a small practice and weren't happy with the current software we were using. We were looking for a software that wouldn't break the bank but would offer some good options and a great product. Well, we found that with Kareo.

Pros: The software is user-friendly, a lot of reports are available - Kareo also has an 'add-in' for Excel where users can build their own reports with the data ( a time consuming great option for us!). Setting up the company and some of the time-consuming - but most set-ups can be. Online chat support, quick response to emails, etc.

Cons: A 'coach' was assigned during the onboarding process to assist with the general set-up and questions; the support wasn't the best (initially). However, - we are now completely satisfied with the support received and someone is always available to answer our questions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Suggest others find out exactly what they need from the software.... the list of needs / wants, etc. and go from there. Not all software is created the same so do your homework before jumping in.

Comments: The move to use Kareo was the best thing we have done for this company in years. This product is very user-friendly. If you have a question you can go to their online help videos or you can call/email support(the response time is within 24 hours) The functionality is awesome. I am able to keep track of claims so much better than our old PMS. Researching paid claims is also very easy and not time-consuming at all. We are only 6 months into this program and it has improved our billing issues. I know there is more to learn and I am excited to do so.

Pros: Posting ERA payments....Hands down!

Cons: nothing yet

Recommendations to other buyers: There is a cost involved. Make sure you are aware of all charges before signing on.

Comments: Kareo's EHR system is relatively easy to use and quite comprehensive. While there are components that are not needed within the mental health profession, it's fairly easy to figure out what is needed.

Pros: Entering client demographics is easy and useful. Finding what you need does not take long at all, as the navigation is very user-friendly.

Cons: I do not understand why the practice clients cannot be deleted in the EHR. They are not real clients. Also, it is not set-up to be Mac-friendly, at least from my perspective. Everything works fine on a Mac, but scrolling and getting to what you need can be cumbersome at times.

Recommendations to other buyers: Call Kareo and ask for a tour of the program. You'll see that it's easy to use, secure and user-friendly.

Comments: I've been using Kareo for about 4 months now with my mental health practice. It is a great value given the price compared to others and is easy to use and user-friendly. I use the billing, scheduling, and marketing modules. I do not currently use the EMR module.

Pros: Price, ease of use, and ability to access the fundamental features from both PC and Apple products including tables.

Cons: Periodically appointments on my schedules will disappear after the patient has been "checked out". Also, there are problems when you switch back and forth between the PC application and the web-based functions. Lastly, customer service has not yet fixed these errors, despite me emailing and calling for months.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are looking for something cheap, easy to use, and that can be used across PC and Apple products this is a good product. But it's not perfect and they have several glitches that need to be worked out.

Comments: I was looking for a billing software for my relatively new part-time private practice (licensed clinical psychologist/psychotherapy). At the time I got the referrals from Software Advice, I was looking primarily at the moment to get started billing Medicare for an increasing client caseload with Medicare coverage. I contacted my three of the four companies provided to me and Kareo was the first to be able to set me up with billing Medicare, While now I can expand to use it for billing other insurances, I still have not set up another insurance to bill. So I will have to see how that goes. However, by consistently billing Medicare now with this software, I am familiar with many of the features of the software and billing is relatively quick and simple. I did sign up for Kareo's clinical software and while I am currently paying for it, I still have not used it.

Pros: Once client and insurance info is set up, It is very quick and easy to bill online for each claim. Thus I am more likely to bill for each session soon after the session rather than waiting to bill a few sessions in a batch. Also, the software allows for printing out 1500 paper Forms. I have not tried this feature yet but it could save me time and hassles refiling if I can fill out the form through the software. I also think some of the online tutorials are very helpful and thus make getting information more convenient than have to sign up for a phone or video training session. I have had contact with a number of the training coaches and in general, they have all been very helpful and easy to access. The billing software is also set up to record payments, running balances, etc. I have not utilized that feature yet but it is nice to know that it is there.

Cons: I really do not have a specific complaint about the software or the staff support.

Recommendations to other buyers: I was very busy when I initially got started with this software. I think I could have become more quickly proficient with it by setting aside time for the various tutorials and maybe using the various training coaches more effectively.

Comments: First time user, installed for a single-practitioner clinic, NP who requires a collaborating physician. I believe that the software is a very good value for the cost, and the other modules I used, Marketing and Billing were also easy. Key to success with Kareo (or any EHR) is getting the practitioner to complete the training and properly use the program. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the very high-priced, server-based EHR's, but then again it also doesn't have the high price. I stay away from the so-called "free" EHR's, because of advertising and information harvesting concerns. I would recommend this software to others.

Pros: Customer service is excellent! We had an issue with the collaborating not being able to log on as a provider, and Kareo resolved the situation to our satisfaction. Our rep extended every bit of assistance he could as well.

Cons: Some limitations to the patient portal, which are being addressed, as I was informed by Kareo. Knowing when to use the desktop app and when to use the online app was a bit confusing for new staff.

Recommendations to other buyers: Talk to your rep, take advantage of the 30-day free trial, and REALLY USE the program during that time before you decide.

Comments: I had to cancel due to inability of Kareo to integrate with Practice Fusion. Despite advertising they could, they were unable to do so after multiple hours with technical support and two months trying. It was - Practice Fusion saying it was Kareo, Kareo saying it was Practice Fusion. I was very surprised having seen Kareo's reviews. When I asked for a refund, I received a firm, "no" and the reply below. I didn't read their extensive contract, which in fact states, if they can't get it to work, it is not their responsibility. I switched companies and was up an running in two weeks.

Pros: great options, would have done what i needed for manual therapy

Cons: Too costly and too many features for what i do.

Overall: Red flag went up when they wanted my credit card information before I was able to use the free 3 month demo version. Well I was busy setting up a new practice that I moved into December 1st and never used the software. I emailed them 8 days after the 3 month demo expired which was December 4th and that I wouldn't be able to afford the EHR just yet and to check back in February. No response from Steve Cohen the sales guy. But on January 10th I don't just get a bill but they automatically withdrew over $800 from my account for a service I never used. I call and left a voicemail, then I emailed Steve Cohen, no response back from either yesterday. I call again and the guy puts me on hold at least 4 times and his response is, "Well we tried to call you several times." I understand I went past the deadline so I was willing to pay for the 6 business days of use after the demo was over but that was over $500. And then I got hung up on. I guess I know why they get your credit card info. If you don't want the software they can find some way to charge you anyway!!!

Recommendations to other buyers: don't demo it.

Comments: I have been using Kareo for a little less than one year. It was very easy to learn how to use this software. My company is a self-pay company so we do not bill any insurance companies. The software seems more geared toward insurance companies paying than the patient. The reports are pretty basic.

Pros: It is user friendly. Easy to learn and jump right in.

Cons: This company has terrible customer service. They were really helpful in the beginning but after that not very helpful. They rarely answer the telephone and email questions can take up to two days. When you make an error on an account the fix is not very simple. It usually involves many different steps to correct it. I have been using it less than a year and they have already increased their fees.

Recommendations to other buyers: The software is good but the customer service is terrible so keep that in mind.

Comments: To date, I have used Kareo EHR for the best part of a year. Altho like any record keeping system there is a learning curve, but after that, it becomes very intuitive. The templates are very helpful. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone.

Pros: The program is customizable and the templates make life easy. The info available inside the system about the drugs the patient is taking is helpful when you find a drug you are not familiar with.

Cons: The flip side of the templates---you have to customize the program. The program is designed to work for most any application so if you don't use it all, you can delete that part. During the time I've used the program, there have been updates that are a bit frustrating because you have to figure out how to do what you need to do after the change. It would be nice if there was some communication from Kareo to let us know what the changes are and how to work with the changes.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look at the different modules and what they do. Some of the modules and services available I can't use because Kareo doesn't have my specialty available to promote. Look at all the services prior to finding them elsewhere.
