Overall, I have been very pleased with Almabase. We have yet to fully utilize its capabilities, and I look forward to continuing to learn and expand our presence with our new and improved database. I have been very impressed with their staff and their database of helpful articles and instructions. Highly recommend.

Pros

Almabase is just what our alumni have been asking for in a database. It enables alumni to update their information, stay in touch with one another, and remain connected to the school. It functions very much like social media, which is what they asked for.

Cons

There is a learning curve and a time commitment on the front end to set everything up. However, they provided me with step-by-step instructions and were available every time I encountered a snag.

I don't have anything to compare it to, so I would say overall, it is good. Up until now, I have not set the settings so that any new information is automatically being pushed to Raisers Edge. Once I do that for the next appeal, I may find the system is less clunky the way it interfaces with RE.

Pros

The responsiveness of the staff and my assigned customer service rep,\[sensitive content hidden\]. He is helpful and instructive. I have also had to use the chat to get help and those folks are responsive and check back in.

Cons

The final platform look doesn't allow me to create additional "info page" links for things like the individual challenges or incentives, so everything has to be on the main landing page. That makes it very long for mobile devices if I feel I really need to include everything.

Overall, Almabase has been a great asset to us. We are still learning, but the platforms that we have used, have been very intuitive and easy to use. When we are tripped up by something, chat support is always incredibly helpful. Our alumni have reported mostly good experiences when using the Events and Giving modules. We feel confident that any issues or feedback that we receive, will be welcomed by Almabase and either fixed or added to the list of potential new features down the road, to best suit our needs.

Pros

While we are still somewhat new to Almabase and haven't explored all of its features yet, I've enjoyed working with the Events module. It's very user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Cons

There are sometimes minor issues that require contacting chat support or our direct Almabase contact. Since they are minor in nature, they can be frustrating - spacing issues, picture sizing, etc.

Almabase has been a great fit for our organization, and they have excellent customer service. From implementation, continuous improvements to the product, and resolving issues, they prove themselves to be a great and responsive technology partner. The culture of this company is evident with interactions between their leaders and the support and success managers we communicate with regularly.

Pros

The Data inbox is a powerful solution for alumni offices, designed to streamline data verification and ensure accurate, up-to-date information is consistently synchronized with your CRM. With the flexibility to either manually review updates or implement automated syncing, it supports a pathway to full automation as confidence in the workflows grow. The privacy considerations and ability to alumni to communicate with each other really makes this a useful tool. The events module provides a flexible and easy experience for our alumni and participants to register for small and large multi session events.

Cons

We utilize all the modules of Almabase, but the software could use some tighter integration and development across the platform between the modules. Sometimes this causes you to pause and rethink your processes to get things to work. That said, it is usually manageable.

I appreciate that Almabase has really thought about the whole user experience and has made it so customizable, too. And I’m really impressed with the support team.

Cons

Nothing that wasn’t improved with a little coaching from the very supportive team. When I started, I found the software to be pretty loaded and I felt lost—but the team at Almabase was ready to make sure I had all the information and coaching that I needed to feel confident.

The overall experience with Almabase has been favorable. For the price point, it is a solid product that connect easily with Raisers Edge, eliminating the need for additional data entry.

Pros

If you have limited staff, Almabase can be a great option as an alumni engagement platform. It is relatively easy to navigate and connects seamlessly with Raisers Edge.

Cons

I was disappointed in the limited templates and that if you upgrade to the Word Press option, it only works on the main landing page and not the other pages.

Almabase has a 10/10 customer service team that guided us from A to Z in setting up our new alumni portal and continues to schedule follow-up meetings with us on a routine basis to assist in learning more capabilities and functionalities of Almabase to better meet our needs.

Almabase allowed our school to create an alumni portal to reconnect with our alumni which is allowing us to reconnect them with the school as mentors, donors, and more.

Small growing pains being a new organization, but Almabase is always diligent in assisting us with guidance, programming based on our needs, etc.

We use Almabase mainly for alumni news and events. It's helpful, especially during our Homecoming when there are hundreds of people registering for multiple events and activities throughout Homecoming weekend

Overall, I would recommend Almabase. Our organization took about 12-18 months to cutover from our legacy alumni website to NetCommunity in 2020-2021. We didn't anticipate cutover again this soon, but we were able to pull it off within five months of making the commitment. A lot of that is testimony to the support the implementation team and helpdesk at Almabase provide.

Pros

We were looking for a solution that could deliver a modern and responsive website for a team that would need a less technical, day-to-day interface for management, data-synchronization, and low-code/no code page design and development. Our organization liked that Almabase integrated with Raiser's Edge NXT and that it could deliver on a number of key initiatives. During our website development and cutover process, we tested the platform's capabilities with Crowd Fundraising and a very complex Event. While there were some synchronization challenges, the Almabase support team was very responsive and helpful in making the process very successful.

Cons

The donation/gift synchronization is well-developed, but the event module and community module will require some additional work to better develop an engagement score methodology. These weren't the highest priorities at the time of cutting over, but they will require significant time/resource investment on the part of our team to utilize to the greatest advantage.

### "Our Almabase Experience"

We have been able to drastically reduce our overall printing and marketing costs related to alumni activities and events and rely now most heavily on communications and registrations through Almabase. This has helped us offset the annualized cost of the contract. By streamlining processes our team has been more efficient and been able to focus more on driving and encouraging attendance at events, overall engagement of our active alumni and more frequent communications from our campus.

Pros

We needed to provide a platform that would enable us to leverage our alumni network globally, and one that we felt would be the best fit for our users. Almabase seemed to be the best fit for our needs and we have been very successful with all models but most specifically with the Events Platform. It has provided real time tracking, registration and communications for our alumni engagement events.

Cons

As with all new databases and platforms, synchronization between our existing database and Almabase has presented a few challenges. Uploading our initial data took a few tweaks. Nothing that cannot be solved, just learning the best method and techniques to be the most efficient in this process is important.

Reason for choosing Almabase

Several components were factors, but we liked the alumni mapping tools, the ease of navigating the directory, the event module and integration with our existing database opportunities. We felt the pricing was reasonable, and that the onboarding team were all approachable. They have consistently offered assistance and we can email anytime with questions for support. Others we looked at did not give us the same sense of comfort.

The alumni community platform provided by Almabase is helping us connect with alumni who have fallen off our radar. The system facilitates the communication of alumni with one another and encourages alumni to invite their classmates to join the system. Our alumni are able to update their information on the community profile page and then Almabase integrates with our CRM (Raiser's Edge NXT) to update our local alumni records. It has been a wonderful partnership so far and I look forward to seeing where the next several years leads us as we continue to develop this partnership.

Pros

Almabase is a very intuitive platform for alumni community management. The system is easy to use no matter whether you are an end-user or a platform administrator. Creating content pages, events, campaigns, and job postings is a snap as the system leads you through providing the details you need to complete each task. As a former webmaster, I appreciate the ability to go into the code view for content pages so that I can manipulate pages to display according to my personal preferences.

Cons

There is very little to dislike. Being pickey, I can say that the back-end of the platform does not always work the way I would want it to work. However, that is based on my own personal preferences for how I use the system and is not based on how the system was designed to function. For example, If I upload a spreadsheet of names and email addresses so that I can send out email communication to a group of constituents, the system will sometimes overwrite the name I associated with an uploaded email address because someone else (usually a spouse) has used that email address as their email address of record for their alumni community profile. So, Almabase will default to the name associated with the community profile instead of enforcing the name I uploaded with the spreadsheet. So...if I wanted to use the Almabase communication center feature to send a birthday greeting to Jane Doe...I would need to make sure that her spouse, John Doe, is not already using the email address I have on file for Jane as his community profile email address. If that does happen, Almabase will insert "John" into the dynamic first name field of my message instead of using "Jane" that I had associated with the email address in my spreadsheet. This platform-based setting to enforce the first name associated with an email address is my only issue but it is minor when compared with the robust features we enjoy.

Pros

Aside from ease of use and 'off the charts' functionality, the support team is what sets Almabase apart from its competitors.

Cons

Have not encountered anything I don't like about the platform. The fact that the platform is evolving sometimes requires a check-in to make sure a feature or functionality will still be available when you plan to use it. So far, the team has been very supportive of every adaptive use of the platform.

Reason for choosing Almabase

Robust features and functionality of the platform, and integration with our new school website. We wanted an app-based program from which we could manage donations, events, communication, and engagement. Almabase does all of this, and much more.

We have had a wonderful relationship with Almabase and have our own personal account support manager that I touch base with twice per month to ensure high engagement and using the latest features.

Pros

Almabase provides a robust platform for engagement and interaction with our graduates. We currently have over 14,000 alums using Classmates.com and are starting to migrate to our platform. The ability to create "Pali Helping Pali" by promoting mentorship, job board, internships opportunities, and a business directory helps connect our alums with each other and with their alma mater.

Cons

I would prefer a better dashboard when people land on our site. Everything is aligned vertically which makes scrolling down necessary to be able to see all the information. I would like to see each section bigger and aligned vertically so that optically it is more engaging.

I inherited our account three years ago and couldn't be happier. I've been able to add new records quickly, create specific pages, directories,and spaces for our alumni, and work with the Almabase team to refine the product.

Pros

We love that Almabase offers an easy to use contact directory and allows for event registrations. The customize pages also allow us to create content specific to our school.

Cons

I think networking is an essential function of the database, and there are a few bugs with Almabase. The industry/field section needs to be standardized/a drop-down so alumni can search quickly, like LinkedIn. Same is true for colleges and universities--the most annoying thing is when a user has misspelled "University" so there are several lists in the search feature.

Not only are we housing all our alumni website here, but we've increased our alumni engagement and awareness because they make it easy for alumni to connect. We found a platform that worked for our constituents, not one that made them work.

Pros

I love the flexibility that they have offered us. We have been using the software for two years and have seen the software grow at a rapid pace to match our needs. They created a skeleton for us and helped us to flesh it out into a working, attractive, and useful site. Our alumni have given such positive feedback--it's better than anything we've had before (and we're 125 years old). The Almabase team is truly interested in what the customer has to say. They are passionate about their work and you, as the customer, can sense it in every interaction with them.

Cons

If there was one thing I could change, I would want more page editing space. The box where you create the page is small and you have to scroll to the top to use the editing tools. I've accidentally moved by cursor more than once while scrolling and had to fix a mistake, then do what I was trying to do. That being said, I have VERY LITTLE experience building website pages or using html and they make it so easy to make great looking pages.
