### "Solid HR and payroll platform with a few rough spots"

May 29, 2026

4.0

On the whole, Paycor has worked very well in terms of payroll management in our company. It does all the things you expect it to do, and it has made the process much easier. Of course, there is the odd issue now and then, such as when customer service isn’t up to scratch, or the reporting is less than intuitive, but there have been no real issues to cause us to consider switching platforms.

Pros

chrome icon google docs icon Paycor has simplified a lot of the payroll and HR admin work that used to eat up a ton of time. Running payroll is straightforward and employee records are easy to keep up with in one place. The self-service portal for staff has been a nice addition too, people can check their pay stubs, request time off, and update their info without having to go through HR for everything. For an organization with a lot of employees it really does take a decent chunk of the manual work off the table

Cons

Customer support can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get someone helpful right away, other times you're sitting on hold or waiting on a callback for something that feels pretty urgent. The reporting tools are functional but building custom reports isn't the most intuitive process and it often takes more trial and error than it should. There have also been a handful of instances where system updates quietly changed something that then needed troubleshooting on our end to figure out.

### "A User-Friendly HR and Payroll Solution"

May 12, 2026

5.0

My overall experience had been wonderful. I like how the platform is always updating and sharing the information via webinars.

Pros

Paycor is a reliable HR and payroll platform that simplifies workforce management for businesses of all sizes. The software is user-friendly and offers a wide range of features, including payroll processing, time tracking, benefits administration, and recruiting tools. One of Paycor’s biggest strengths is its intuitive dashboard, which makes it easy for managers and employees to access important information quickly.

Cons

I do not like to the process for submitting cases, when the team respond via SalesForce I never receive the communication.

### "Streamlined, Reliable, and Easy to Use – Paycor Delivers!"

July 1, 2025

5.0

Overall, our experience with Paycor has been very positive. The platform is easy to navigate, and it has significantly streamlined our HR and payroll processes. Implementation was well-supported, and the ongoing customer service is responsive and helpful. While there are areas for improvement—particularly in reporting flexibility—the system continues to evolve and meet the needs of our growing team.

Pros

Paycor’s platform is intuitive and user-friendly, which makes managing payroll, benefits, and performance reviews much more efficient. I especially appreciate how seamlessly the different modules integrate, reducing manual work and improving accuracy across the board.

Cons

Some areas of the platform, like reporting and analytics, could be more customizable and easier to navigate. Occasionally, system updates or changes aren’t well-communicated in advance, which can lead to confusion or extra troubleshooting.

Alternatives considered

[Paycom](https://www.capterra.com/p/130949/Paycom/)[ADP Workforce Now](https://www.capterra.com/p/155895/WorkforceNow/)

Reason for choosing Paycor

We chose Paycor because it offered the best balance of functionality, user experience, and customer support. Compared to other providers, Paycor’s platform felt more intuitive, especially for managing payroll, benefits, and performance in one place. The ability to scale with us as we grow and the personalized implementation support were also key deciding factors.

Switched from

[Paychex Flex](https://www.capterra.com/p/119841/Paychex-Flex/)

We switched from Paychex to Paycor to gain a more modern, user-friendly HR platform that could better support our growing team’s needs. Paycor offered a more intuitive interface, stronger self-service tools for employees and managers, and better integration across payroll, benefits, and performance. The ability to customize workflows and access more actionable insights also played a big role in our decision.

### "Affordable, but Falling Behind"

July 11, 2025

3.0

Overall, our experience with Paycor has been mixed. While it meets basic HR needs at a lower price point, it lacks the strategic tools, reporting depth, and innovation necessary to support a growing or forward-thinking organization.

Pros

Paycor offers a fairly affordable HRIS option for small to mid-sized companies. You get a decent amount of features for the cost, including payroll, onboarding, and basic analytics, making it a budget-friendly system.

Cons

The platform lacks innovation and feels outdated compared to competitors. Support response times can be inconsistent, and product updates often lag behind industry standards. You often get the sense they are playing catch-up.

After working with Paycor for the past four years, I truly love the system and know it like the back of my hand. I often praise the platform and credit it as a key contributor to my success in my role.

Pros

I always say you’re only as good as your tools, and I see Paycor as one of the key tools that allows me to perform my role effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Cons

If I had to note a drawback, it would be that we are currently on a legacy version of the system. I would love the opportunity to upgrade, though I understand this is a company-level decision and not a limitation of the platform itself.

### "Not Happy with Paycor"

October 29, 2025

3.0

Our benefit implementation was set up wrong and the user interface was having issues constantly. Our taxes weren't paid on time and this caused late fees and other issues with the different states we are located in. The managers always had trouble logging in as themselves and then as leaders.

Pros

The only thing I liked about Paycor was the employee management side of things. It was easy to use for the employees.

Cons

For the money we were paying the customer service was not high quality, there were constant issues within the system causing me more stress than I care to admit.

### "No recomendable"

November 27, 2025

Overall it was great and continues to be a great move for my agency. My employees love having everything in one place including electronic tax forms.

Pros

The ease of setting up the program for my agency and the customer service. I like all of the trainings that they offer users and the payroll tax management piece as well.

Cons

Working through how our systems GL and the Paycor system talk to each other. We ultimately decided to just do our uploads manually because of how hard it was to get things corrected in the end.

### "Great first HRIS"

July 8, 2025

4.0

It has generally been a positive experience with Paycor. Our Sales Rep was the driving factor for Paycor over other HRIS options as he was upfront about the negative feedback they had received and was able to tell us organization-level changes that were being made to solve the issues.

Pros

Paycor is our first HRIS, so the process has been a lot to work through. We use it every day for things like onboarding, but there are a lot of attachments with Paycor that make it nearly a one-stop shop, which is great. I have found some of their resource tools excellent for solving quick, simple problems. For basic HCM, it is fairly easy to use as well. They are always adjusting their features and seem to be interested in always creating a better user experience. Their recruiting module has been great and customizable for our needs. Our sales representative was very hands on and available during implementation, which did not go smoothly, but he provided as much support as possible. Onboarding and workforce management was a massive issue for our company as we did not have an HRIS beforehand. Both pieces have made it much easier to have a set onboarding process with the hiring managers involved at the right stages and with all the right documentation. It has been wonderful.

Cons

Paycor's customer support team is not great. I find myself in situations where I know as much as, or more than, their support advocates. This makes it challenging when I am working through a very complex problem and cannot find someone who can assist. A smaller issue is that the different pieces of Paycor can be choppy when switching from Recruiting to HCM to Paths, as they are all clearly items that have been bolted on post-creation. They all function well, but they are visibly different systems, which means there is no continuity across them.

### "Disappointing Experience with Paycor "

April 30, 2025

1.0

My overall experience with Paycor has been very negative. The system is clunky, unintuitive, and not user-friendly, requiring significant workarounds for even basic HR functions. Customer support has been one of the worst aspects—delayed responses, limited expertise, and little accountability when issues arise. Reporting is especially poor, with limited customization, outdated formats, and a lack of real-time insights, making it difficult to extract meaningful data without heavy manual effort. Overall, the platform fell far short of what’s needed to support a growing and dynamic organization.

Pros

I can't really think of anything. I guess the payroll is pretty easy to process.

Cons

Terrible customer service, terrible implementation process, system is not as robust as they make it seem. Onboarding is the worst.

I made the switch from Heartland to Paycor because, on paper, it looked like a more robust and scalable solution. We were looking to consolidate systems, streamline performance management, and improve the overall employee experience. Paycor promised more customization, stronger reporting, and an all-in-one platform that could grow with us. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t match the sales pitch. The system is clunky and unintuitive, and the reporting capabilities are awful—limited, outdated, and difficult to work with. Customer support has been consistently unhelpful and slow to respond. Overall, the platform created more work than it solved, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

### "Paycor for churches"

June 27, 2025

4.0

We have enjoyed Paycor over other products we've used. It has been a good partner for us. They have a solid understanding of our unique needs. Paycor has partnered with other software providers to expand the services they offer and at times the connection between how those products work together has been a challenge.

Pros

Strong customer support, better understanding than others we've used of the unique regulations that impact pastoral taxes, ease of doing additional payrolls or adding special tasks to a particular payroll, strong on demand training.

Cons

When an employee needs to log in to do a review or sign off on a document it can feel more clunky for those who don't regularly need to log in. Our state requires that employees give us start and end times when logging hours. Paycor allows them to simply enter the number of hrs worked (without start and end times) on their app which means corrections before payroll. When employees request PTO they often request the wrong type not noticing the drop down Paycor provides for types of PTO.

November 12, 2025

Poor. There was some things that were an improvement from our prior provider, so it wasn't all bad. But overall, I would never go back and definitely do not recommend them to anyone.

Pros

It helped us consolidate a bit. Less systems like removing or ACA tracking system, Nimble. Their service team was also responsive, usually within the 1 hour for email replies.

Cons

Almost everything. The support team responded quickly, but was frequently incompetent or needed the support of other departments, which were much slower, to get answers. The implementation was the worst I have every experienced and we still believe the set up they went with caused many issues for us. They also made SO many tax errors so their tax team is incompetent.

### "Paycor for the win!"

April 16, 2026

4.0

I’ve had a great experience with Paycor. The platform is highly intuitive, and I particularly value the seamless onboarding process and the added financial flexibility provided by early direct deposits.

Pros

Seamless Transitions: When an HR admin marks a candidate as "hired" in the Recruiting module, their data flows instantly into Payroll and Onboarding. Users like that they don't have to enter the same data three different times. Centralized Tax Forms: Employees find it very helpful to have all their electronic tax forms (W-2s, 1095-Cs) in the same place they check their weekly pay

Cons

Recent shifts toward AI-driven support have frustrated some users who feel they can no longer reach a knowledgeable human representative for complex problems.

Horrible. Worst HRIS or ATS I've ever used. Buggy, nothing works like it's supposed to. Also, fairly outdated, I used it 5 years ago and it was a much better tool then.

Pros

Cons

The worst customer service of any software I've ever used. I really can't stress how bad it is. From call centers where people can't hear you and you can't hear them, to a sales rep named \[sensitive content hidden\] who refused to return calls and emails, basic issues takes weeks to resolve.

My experience with Paycor since becoming a consumer at the beginning of 2025 has not been very pleasant. Client support has not been very helpful, most my open cases have to be escalated to the next support level. It usually takes at least a week to resolve an issue. Sometime the issue is no resolvable.

Pros

Cons

Paycor is an effective, all in one HR and payroll solution. The system is easy to maneuver, and I am able to clock in and out without issue. I take vacation yearly and I am able to input my leave and know that a glitch won't change my plans.

### "Lies and fees, stay away."

May 1, 2026

1.0

Customer support wastes an hour each time, takes at least 45 minutes to get to someone who doesn't speak English. Then promises are made and quickly forgotten. The fees keep adding up. I had one fee that no one at Paycor could even tell me what it was for. Other fees that didn't apply to my business. I'd complain, get a promise of a credit, then get no credit. I finally left and filed a BBB complaint, which got someone's attention, and after another month of fighting got a promise of a $1200 refund, which represents the last 6 months of abuse. I was promised to get it by the end of the week. It's been over a month now, as the feet get dragged. Stay away from this company, there are legitimate payroll companies out there that will work for you.

Pros

I needed direct deposit, that happened. Seriously, that's all I can say that's good. Oh, the guy who first set me up in Paycor seemed nice, although he ignored everything I told him, I found out later.

Cons

Fees, more fees, fees they can't explain, broken promises, and customer service is horrible (and liars)

### "Paycor, change isn't always great. "

June 4, 2025

2.0

Paycor did streamline our Payroll and HR which made it easy to provide employees and administrators with what they needed to access. There was a learning curve with the platform, but it was easier to learn than some of the more complex systems out there. Payroll was reliable and assuming it's not too complex, I'm confident that Paycor can handle most situations. Once they went public/were acquired by a large competitor, the support and system went downhill and we ultimately left.

Pros

Pre Paychex acquistion, Paycor was reliable and cheaper than most alternative solutions for Payroll for small businesses. One thing that was superior was their chat customer service, where others had previously required email or phone support. Chat was quick and responsive.

Cons

Their software and platform feels old and outdated compared to others that we became aware of. It didn't reliably load and we'd occasionally have to refresh to access the platform. They never made a mistake from our payroll processing, but from a functionality standpoint, we'd have to go back and verify payrolls early on to double check.

Pros

I’m still learning the system- but over all I’m neutral on Paycor as a whole. From time keeping to labor reporting - from recruitment to onboarding - it would be nice to have very clear procedures from Paycor to follow

### "Not the worst I've used, but certainly not the best."

January 13, 2026

3.0

As the kids say these days... my experience using Paycor at my company was quite "mid". Not the worst I've used, but certainly not the best. I know others in my organization had an even worse time with it. Internally, is was typically referred to as "Paincor".

Pros

As far as HR softwares go, it technically accomplishes most of what it sets out to do. It has an app where you can view your pay stubs and pay history and sign documents.

Cons

"Finicky" would be the word that comes to mind when I think about the couple of years my company used Paycor. Again, it mostly got the job done on the main things, but I remember the login experience being especially awful. If you backgrounded the app for more than a few seconds, your session would expire and you'd have to re-authenticate. Very frustrating when you're trying to quickly swap between another app like the calculator to figure up something. The login relentlessly needed the full 2-factor authentication as well, even if you selected "Remember this device".
