Both have been amazing to work with especially when it comes to tuning MySQL, Percona is a great resource to utilize. Pros I very much like the additional monitoring of Percona Server vs traditional MySQL. I've setup countless servers now with LDAP integration and audit logging without needing to pay for enterprise MySQL. Additionally the integrations for additional monitoring with Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM) has been extremely useful when attempting to evaluate overall health of my MySQL cluster. Cons I don't actually have any cons per se. Percona Server is a drop in replacement for traditional MySQL which makes migrations easy. Pros Percona has its own development team on MySQL, Percona Server is more flexible, secure and have very usefull community than MySQL. Cons Differences between MySQL and Percona Server might be defined more clearly to choose it. It has additional softwares that you might want to use, it might bundle with it. Overall, it has been a very positive experience! :) Pros Seamless installation in relation to Oracle MySQL, good performance, better metrics when using it together with Percona Monitoring Tools. Cons Release versions tend to be slightly lower than the Oracle ones. But that is expected, since Percona needs to patch and test it before releasing. So, not a big issue. Switched from [MariaDB](https://www.capterra.com/p/132005/MariaDB/) MariaDB would deliver less performance compared to standard MySQL (for our specific needs). We had the choice to go back to Oracle MySQL, but then we started using Percona Management and Monitoring Tool, which seems to interact better with Percona MySQL Server. After testing the technology and approving it, we decided to switch. Excellent, easy to understand logs - so that we know what's wrong and can fix it quicker Cons It was somewhat challenging to be moving from Postgres to here, but I think it was as much our team's lack of expertise.
