As for the front end design, its perfect! then Pros I so much love its themes because they're so elegant and responsive on all devices. Prestashop also has some nice plugins which are free then i love its product image zoom feature. Then cross-selling products on Prestashop is excellent. Ability to install different languages at the admin dashboard so that the website visitors can translate the store in their respective languages is great. Cons Prestashop themes are expensive and their customer support doesn't respond on time which isn't good enough. All countries aren't installed in the localization section of the admin dashboard which will hinder those buyers from the excluded countries from completing their transactions. Cons It was a few years ago that we used Prestashop, we found it to be a bit buggy at times and experienced a fair few breaking changes for updates. Pros We used to work with Prestashop for ecommerce up until 8 years ago roughly. We started to notice that WooCommerce was starting to evolve and the seamless integration with WordPress is behond "just another plugin". It literally works perfectly together to act as a great ecommerce platform. Also, having experience developing for both platforms (we develop and sell plugins/modules for both platforms) it's a lot faster to develop for WordPress/WooCommerce than it is for Prestashop. Cons Community is not that huge compared to WordPress. Prestashop seems to lie somewhere in the middle. Before I decided on Prestashop, I did some extensive research to inspect other solutions such as Shopify, Shopware and Oxid. However, the large user and developer base as well as the massive amount of addons available for Prestashop made me switch to Prestashop. Here is what I especially like about Prestashop: - The backend is simple enough to get used to quite quickly - There are a lot of amazing templates you can choose from - it's rather easy to find Prestashop developers near you, so you're not stuck with an exotic shop system nobody understands - Multi store/multi language functionality is integrated into Prestashop out of the box Cons There is a big transition from 1.6 to 1.7 which is really massive and makes it hard for new store owners. Should I use the old, but stable 1.6 or use the new and potentially incomplete 1.7? There is a huge debate about 1.7 and it seems to split the community in half. The reason is that the new 1.7 is based on Symfony, a PHP framework that is supposed to make Prestashop development in future simpler. The problem is that switching to the newest version is like switching to a complete new shop software. Apart from that there are some quirks that are hard to understand. E.g. why the company is based in France, yet it's not fully compliant to EU law out of the box without addons and modifications. Review Source Oscar R. It counts with a great historical versions and a big community that develops extra functionality like themes and modules so you can search for any solution you need. I see its data base very well structurated and normalized to have a good experience at Query's on them, Very intuitive on that aspect. Cons Since the basic process of e-commerce is well developed, the extra functionalitys that particular customer needs can transform into a big cost installing purchasing modules for it. It is very simple and fluent and you can ask any problem or question you have in its forums or search for the answer in it. Pros There are many modules and templates ready by different developers for this software. You can also easily design a new module yourself or implement your own template. The PrestaShop Management Dashboard is so stylish and simple that you can easily learn to work with it. Adding products and changing specifications to the product is very simple and easy. I hated every aspect of it. I plan to be an advocate for not using PrestaShop in the future whenever the topic arises. Pros PrestaShop feels to me like a good blend between Magento's robustness and WooCommerce's shortcomings. You have a lot of marketing tools and decent templates, some of them really attractive, actually. I also appreciate the ability to disable the store when needed (had a customer get overwhelmed with orders--no joke!). Cons The architecture is a bit wonky on the back end. If, for example, you're wanting to access the CMS, you find it under Preferences. What do you find there? Page categories and pages in those categories. That's it. I don't even know why it's called a CMS, when PrestaShop \*is\* the CMS. Lots of little quirks like that. If you want to switch themes, get ready to pay big money. Very few themes are under $100, and switching from one to another doesn't usually go very smoothly (definitely not something you'd want to do live). I had a client with a 2000+ product website on PrestaShop, and it was such a mess, I just moved the whole thing over to WP and have almost rebuilt the entire thing in a month. The dashboard is amazingly simple and you can find all the tools you just by browsing over the top categories. Lo and behold, I was completely blown away by the power packed features that comes with it. I really love the Back Office, it's kind of like a behind the scenes view of your ecommerce website. They really nailed the basics, from product page views to checkout. So if you have goods to sell online, just install PrestaShop and you're ready to go. Just sit back and wait to collect revenue from sales. Unless you want to mess around the website alot, there is really no need for additional plugins and such, and that's what I love. Cons PrestaShop needs to keep up with the times. While I love the Backend Office, the mobile version of the Shopify admin/app is actually much better - it presents you with Sales figures, although functionality to customise the website is lacking as well. So as well from a developer’s vision as from an e-tailor point of view. Pros As an e-tailor we like the flexibility of PrestaShop as an CMS, the large community who work with the software and the way you can make use of the software. As a developer and PrestaShop Partner we like the diversity of the product and the way we can build converting web shops for our customers. Cons The one thing we like the least is the assistance we get from PrestaShop themselves. Luckily the community is very active, and this solves most of our problems, but PrestaShop should have a more hands-on mentality.
