My experience started rocky but I am very happy with Escapia and the team that work with it and my business.

Pros

I like that the team are always working to improve the product so that it works best for our needs. I love that we can link other providers to our same calendar

Cons

I don't feel that Escapia works well on the phone, it would be awesome to have it as an app, which I feel would be much more user friendly.

Pros

Tries very hard to be an all in one solution, direct integration with HomeAway/VRBO, good customer support, the team is clearly working hard on improvements but it's a bit like trying to push a dinosaur up a hill.

Cons

Very disjointed, I often refer to it as frankenstein because it feels like all the modules were poorly connected together. Does not have an open API so integration with other systems is limited. Overall the software is very old and outdated and while improvements are on the horizon, they are coming slowly and in the meanwhile my patience is running out.

Overall, the experience has been very positive. Support has always been incredibly helpful, and our client representative has been outstanding—always responsive and reliable for years!

Pros

The ease of use, particularly the global search function, is the most frequently used and favorite feature.

Cons

The reporting feature is slow and struggles to pull large amounts of historical data at once. A simple addition, like the ability to email vendors an AP report, would be a valuable improvement.

Pros

Escapia provides a platform that touches all aspects of our rental management business. I like the integration with business solution partners and knowledgable customer service.

Cons

The only challenge with Escapia is occasional software updates that may affect functionality and existing data. Otherwise, no isses.

Overall my experience with Escapia has been a very positive one and I am glad that we chose them as our Property Management System. I would recommend them to those in the Vacation Rental Industry. MG

Pros

Having worked with many Property Management Systems over the years, they all have their upsides and downsides. Being a small business owner and having to learn the majority of the 'nuts and bolts' in Escapia in order to run the business I will outline a few that I like about Escapia. Accounting/Trust Accounting - This software is excellent (generally) for accounting and keeping proper Trust accounting. May not be the prettiest interface, but it is very functional and solid once learned how to use. Integration/API/Etc. - Escapia connects with VRBO seamlessly which is our largest source of bookings and very well with our website which is our second largest source or bookings. They are beginning to bridge the gap with AirBnB which is very exciting and also link nicely to softwares we use such as Breezeway. Support - Sign of a good product is that you generally do not need to use support which is largely the case. When support is needed, it is generally very good especially the Australia and New Zealand based support which I often get being in Hawaii. Tier 2 support often takes a long time to hear back from. Star Employees - I would like to point out in addition to Australia and New Zealand based support previously mentioned a few employees that have stood out. \[sensitive content hidden\] in Accounting is fantastic and has helped me out of binds many times. Our account manager \[sensitive content hidden\] has been great and always gets us answers and keeps us abreast of advancements in the software. \[sensitive content hidden\] our software training person is always patient and kind with teaching us new things and best practices for those we already use. Cons

There are sometimes 'glitches' in the software that take time to fix. Generally they are fixed in a timely manner, but others they are not. Other disappointing thing is that often we the client have to go back and remedy these issues even though we are not the cause of them. I have also had credit card processing issues over the years. Although it has gotten better, it is still a weakness of the system and getting good answers is often difficult. MG

Escapia is an excellent product and provides exceptional value for the cost. The technical support team are efficient, knowledgable and very professional.

Pros

Feature rich and stable platform. Phone technical support is excellent. Escapia provides excellent value for the cost.

Cons

Various platforms and add ons are not as tightly integrated as we would like, including integration with Airbnb and other platforms outside of the Expedia group. Integrations should be seamless and not problematic for users.

Our overall experience has been great. Ease in working with them to learn the programs, ease in curing any problems which have been minor ones, very responsive to a call for assistance and fair pricing.

Pros

Escapia is extremely user friendly. If a question occurs it is easily researched in the tutorials and always a quick answer if we need to call in for assistance. We also appreciate the willingness of Escapia in listening to the customer and trying to blend in our needs to the programs. We are very satisfied.

Cons

We do not have much to add here as over all we are quite happy.

Holly is probably my favorite part and her help and availibilty is phenomal. Excited about the road map and where things are headed.

Pros

The ease of use and familiarity with it. They are iterating again which is great. It ties in with the all Expedia products well and new software typically picks Escapia as one of the first PM management systems that they will API with.

Cons

Like a lot of legacy software it has some bolt on feel to it, but they are starting to iterate and the road map looks great.

Excellent due to interface, automation abilities, and accounting.

Pros

Accounting is a breeze. I just did 1099s for the entire year in an hour. Integration with VRBO is a big plus.

Cons

Photos must be taken horizontally or they get turned. I would like to be able to take vertical pictures for hallways, etc.

I am overall very pleased with Escapia. Having used multiple platforms over my career in the vacation rental management industry, Escapia has been the easiest to navigate and the most user friendly. We always receive speedy follow up to any issues that might arise or for any questions we might have, and I have always felt supported. And, I greatly value and appreciate Escapia's desire to continually improve on and add to their offerings. 10 out of 10!

Pros

Setup/Distribution was easier than anticipated. Our reps took great care in getting us up to speed on integrating and using the software. The software is easy to navigate and the Self-Help articles have been incredibly useful in re-learning or resolving any issues without having to reach out to Support.

Cons

This isn't necessarily a "Con", but in Escapia's efforts to update/upgrade and offer new user functions, we were momentarily "down" often, which I attribute to upgrades being made to the system. Once these were completed however, we did not have any issues.

We used Escapia for more than 8 years but we had to always rely on third party solutions to connect with Airbnb, Inntopia and even our own website, so we decided to move away to a more modern and friendly solution. Bit don’t get me wrong, Escapia even though dated is extremely well designed and work very well.

Pros

The accounting, housekeeping and work order modules are incredibly well designed.

Cons

The pricing module is not friendly and cumbersome. Doesn’t have a direct connection with Airbnb and doesn’t have a built in website solution

I think it’s a fantastic program that allows us to make sure we have all the info about our guests in one place. I would love to see an update to the forms so it feels more up to date.

Pros

I love the ability to manage communications through text or email. The integrations with Airbnb and bro are very well done. Also, it’s very reliable and hardly ever down.

Cons

The overall feel of the software feels dated. It feels like using software from the 90s. I also do not like that ‘add note’ function doesn’t always work. My teammates and I rely on the notes when dealing with problem guests and we need all the information to be saved correctly the first time without having to go to the communications tab. I don’t like how long it takes to find a particular guest in the communications tab. It feels like you have to wait 10 seconds or so just to see no results.

Escapia has evolved over the years, so much so, that I believe we stuck with the right software and appreciate how modules have been updated and improved. Still more to go in my opinion but it is making my job easier as time goes by. Thank you.

Pros

Support Team is outstanding - friendly, efficient and patient saints!

Cons

Inflexible in certain areas. We have had to make accommodations to the software in order to satisfy our business model: (i.e. when it comes to managing 30 day rentals, the calendars and rates need to be closely monitored; we pay our internal reservations a commission based on rent revenue and had to devise a way to track this over and above 3rd party agent commissions; we have policies that differ by property and some functionality must be universal for all properties.

Great software for a small to medium sized vacation rental business!

Pros

Switching from our old PMS was handled very well by the implementation staff and we are so glad we made the move! The most important part to our decision to switch was the integration with VRBO/Homeaway and bring able to work with a website host/digital marketing agency that understands our PMS.

Cons

The service order module is not set up well for how we run our maintenance staff. Our staff is not able to enter a task assigned to a unit number with an amount of time associated with it, that we can then transfer to an owner statement to be charged. There are too many fields that need to be filled out and it just doesn't make sense for us.

It makes the ease of making reservation easy for our staff overall and the guests have less wait time on the phone while making a reservation. The ease of adjusting rents and creating rate rules allows for more revenue at the end of each year without any mistakes.

Pros

So many great things to say it is hard to know where to start. It is so easy to keep track of what is being completed where and by who. Always time stamps with names on holds, reservations, payments, refunds as well as email correspondence. The visual calendar is another added bonus because it gives a great overall picture of each home and dates that are and are not available so filing spots is very easy. The quick quote feature is fabulous as you can pick a home in the drop down menu and apply any filter and discounts that you already have up to any home easily. Web based is a very huge bonus because you are able to view any information on any device no matter where you are. The software also links up to many other sites so linking and sharing homes and rates is as easy as clicking a button and everything feeds right over. The quick search button at the top makes it very easy to find reservations that are valid or cancelled without having to use many steps.

Cons

When adding some new charges they can be hard to track if you are not 100% sure which report that you should be running to find them. Processing revenue can be difficult at some times when guests are in house and reservations crossover between months. This is mostly because if you need to adjust a reservation and revenue has already been processed it can cause some errors with commissions. Just have to be extra aware of what you are doing to not make any mistakes.

Pros

Very user friendly. Training new employee is so simple with all the tools available.

Cons

We'd like a better a communication hub that has better notification when inquiries come in. Also be able to respond via multiple platforms, like texting.
