Pros: Having worked with an older version of Jira and implemented the new one, I am very happy with the product. Especially for technical teams it allows great level of detail and overall visibility of what's being done. Very happy with the support we received during setup process.

Pros: Jira has a lot of features that help with keeping the project running in Scrum/Kanban. Setting task owners, epics, story points and many other things is great. UI has changed a couple of weeks ago. For me it's better, cleaner. It's also highly customizable, great advantage.

Cons: Jira is slow and that's the biggest pain e.g. when I'm trying to update a task or something like that. It's also not easy to learn as there are many things which require Scrum/Kanban knowledge and it has plenty of features.

Comments: Jira is the way to go when it comes to project management. The features do not get limited ti what Atlassian offers out of the box, but you can install various plugins, free or not depending on your needs.

Pros: Easy transition to any other system Straight forward usage Can adapt to any team/project workflow Easy to organize long term features using epics Linking stories can help on team collaboration

Cons: No easy access on mobile phone Time tracking is not a priority out of the box Same goes for reporting on team utilization Is focused a lot on project management but not necessarily on team management/allocation

Cons: This can take a really long time to understand and navigate through. The fees are also a bit more than the majority of other time management tools out there.

Pros: JIRA is flexible and customizable, we use it for many aspects from bug tracking to time-allocation on a multi-site organization.

Cons: There are some limits on the customization process, if you aren't an expert on the matter, you may end up with a sub-optimal solution. I know this is a general-purpose assertion, but i remarked it there because it strongly applies to JIRA. Finally, it may be difficult to extract reports of what is inside the database.

Comments: This product is typically designed for product development or more techy contexts: we are using it to manage the production of courses in a higher education context. Take that contextual background into mind when looking for a project management tool.

Pros: This product is extremely flexible and can really put your data through the ringer. Customization, data aggregation, and collaboration are all keys to using this product. We've written an API to automate our data import and that has made our workflow management so much more efficient, even going so far as to highlight areas for us to improve our efforts. The cost, as well, for a small team is quite reasonable. I've enjoyed running the product as an admin and I am grateful to see my team use it to manage their data.

Cons: The Comments section of the tool is not as effective for thorough communications. Messaging back and forth is possible and mentioning teammates is helpful, but it becomes a long scroll of messages back and forth that are not easy to navigate.

Pros: It does a good job of adhering to Agile principals. Our organization uses it for "time entry" for exempt employees and we use the TimeTracker plugin from Everit which makes time entry easy.

Comments: Overall it is a functional product but there could be alot of improvements to the UX and optimization of functions to make it work better

Pros: Ticket field and tracking can be made easy if project is setup well. There are some useful gadgets to help visualize issues.

Cons: The UX can be very clunky (especially with the new update). There could be a lot more useful gadgets for ticket visualization like an automatic gantt chart generator. Many times the tickets are slow to load and attachment adding and downloading can break.

Pros: View as boards, lists, etc. Custom fields and flow. Link tasks, assign owners, etc Great for larger teams to share task tracking (>10 say)

Pros: This software offers great dashboards, clear status, and metrics. It makes logging a bug or defect very easy, and it is highly customizable to allow you to capture the data that you need.

Cons: There is not much negative about this software. It would be nice to have some additional dashboarding and metrics functions that would be nice for aggregating data across multiple projects. Today, it is mostly project focused.

Comments: I've been using Jira for bug tracking and project management for over a year. Based on other solutions out in the market this is definitely the best offered at the moment, however there is still room for improvement.

Pros: The two main pros are: - Customizable: can create / remove any fields - Integration: can integrate with most popular systems such as Salesforce, Trello, Github, etc.

Cons: Sometimes can get quite cumbersome, if you're not used to the tool, or are tech savvy it may be hard to use filters and reporting.

Recommendations to other buyers: Overall, the pros outweigh the cons, just take into consideration a learning curve when first implementing.

Comments: JIRA have come a long way in the last handful of years by increasing their product offering with Agile Project & Kanban management features. It's an easy to use incident and bug management tool that my business use extensively. I'm a strong advocate of JIRA. We use Mantis currently for project bug tracking & management but I find mantis less friendly and views are not as good as JIRA. JIRA's reports is a winner also.

Pros: More than just a bug and incident management tool which provides more benefits in one place.

Cons: The only con is the older version currently in use by my business is outdated.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have recommended to my businesses management to upgrade to the new Agile capable version of JIRA and suggested that once it's fully adopted to consider moving project defect management away from Mantis.

Comments: I can't imagine myself using something other than Jira for issue tracking at this point. However, if you are new to it, don't expect to be proficient with it in a day or even a week. However, it is well worth learning how to use Jira efficiently.

Pros: Jira offers a full package required for team collaboration. All the features are easily installed, so you can have a task manager, chat, wiki, code repository, etc. set up all at once. I have also not encountered any major bugs during my 4 year usage of the software.

Cons: Setting Jira up will most probably require a dedicated administrator services. Configuring this juggernaut is no laughing matter and some of my colleagues have had a very long adaptation period to its workflow.

Pros: Jira is made for managing develeper teams, IT companies. In our startup, we use it differently in the IT department and in our marketing department to manage, monitor and control each team mate work load.

Cons: As far as I know, you need an IT person to set it up. So it is really useful if that person administering and setting up Jira 1) knows what you want from it (ideally the decision maker in the company understands how Jira works) and 2) knows how to make it happen in Jira. That's the most difficult part, setting Jira up.

Pros: Almost limitless customization options, I've seen different project managers organise a team's workflow in numerous totally different ways. Really good integrations with other Atlassian software products. Supplements a physical board very well, including the option to print cards at an ideal size for real-world usage.

Cons: Limitless customization is a double-edged sword. As a user, not administrator of JIRA I am often stuck when attempting to do anything but the simplest task. Depending on the competence of the Project Manager with JIRA, this can be a big or very small issue. It would be good if JIRA could integrate more smoothly with non Atlassian software. While I understand the business reasons for making things difficult with say, GitHub and Slack integrations, it doesn't improve my feelings towards the product as a user.

Comments: I am recommending peoples who are looking for project management tool.

Pros: Jira is very good tool for a small and big organization. It help us to manage your task and time very well. Project management is very much useful to make a project success. Task tracking and progress is one of the best feature of JIRA. You can track task effort and velocity of project and resource.

Cons: The look is a little outdated, but this is something you quickly get over when you notice the great capabilities.

Pros: Searching capabilities on this system are robust. We use this to upload just about everything, so there is a ton of files in the system, but you can easily find what you are looking for by category and keywords.

Cons: The look is a little outdated, but this is something you quickly get over when you notice the great capabilities. It takes a second to get used to it, but a great system once you learn the in's and out's.

Pros: I like that JIRA is very easy to use, even for a non technical person like me. I have also had older colleagues who struggle to use MS office some time that have no issue or problem using JIRA.

Cons: I cannot think of anything bad to say, maybe because I haven't used JIRA so intensively. But one thing I have heard of from my colleagues is that the pricing can be quite high for small and medium companies as it's based on individual accounts and they may not be able to afford.

Comments: Very flexible with good support and lots of documents and training materials, I strongly reccommend.

Pros: Very good Architecture and interface with a very strong framework to customize for your needs. Tons of free and third parties apps that can improve the software. If you use together with Confluence and BitBucked than you will achieve most of the power of the tool for develop teams.

Cons: The prices are not customized, so after 10 users you need to buy 25 even if you only need 15 users, and if you need more than 25 the next step is 50 so you can get trouble if your team does not grow so fast.

Pros: you can still benefit from the agile features that JIRA offers. Card view in particular is a great interface whether you're organizing tasks, or trying to grasp the big picture.

Pros: Well built software for all your bug/issue tracking. Can be used for PM purposes in case of lots of reaccuring tasks. Customizable with plugins and extensions. Also you can build your own plugins.

Cons: The best plugins are pricey. The system is priced on the number of active users, so it can be expensive. The system realy shines with Crowd and Confluence, but they are also priced on the number of active users.

Comments: If you have a simple project with limited workflow needs, Jira is probably too much of a tool for you. It does have out of the box settings that are simple, but we do not use those default settings so I cannot speak to how easy those are to use.

Pros: The tool provides powerful Query capabilities so that I am always able to find what I need. Everything in the system is customizable (some thing simpler than others) and this is perfect for making sure you are not backed into a corner, but can also make it complex to administer if you only do admin tasks every few months.

Cons: Once you have it setup, you rarely need to return to the administrative tasks, but when you do, you often have to relearn how things are configured. It's not a huge deal, but complexity naturally increases with flexibility.

Pros: Wonderful way for Biz & Dev sides of a business to collaborate. Our Company had some transparency issues (like most relatively successful startups), JIRA eliminates these by allowing me, a PM, to go in and see every single Dev sprint that we have. Would definitely recommend, and I see how companies, especially with 200+ employees, can use JIRA to make business (internal business) more efficient.

Pros: My company uses JIRA to submit internal tickets for product or component improvements. For that purpose, JIRA serves relatively well. It is fairly user friendly in terms of submitting requests, I like the "watcher" functionality so that you can "copy" people on the ticket, and I think the tagging functionality works well.

Cons: It can be a bit of a strain to submit a ticket in the correct way given the different menu options, but that may have more to do with how my organization users JIRA than with the tool itself. I will say that, while I enjoy the "watcher" functionality, it can be difficult to find, as can other functions with JIRA.

Pros: Jira is, more or less, a straightforward product. You can create tickets, move tickets across a Kanban board, and do a variety of things with tickets such as add comments, photos, link tickets to other tickets, change the "status" or "priority" of tickets, and so on.

Cons: It can be a bit clunky at times. I would like more detailed Lean and Kanban analytics such as, "What's my Average Time in Queue?", "What's my Average Cycle Time?" etc. Have a few other ideas but very related to Product Development Flow-type thinking, so perhaps not suitable for main product. Jira does a good job at presenting some of these things (e.g. burndown rate) but a more powerful analytics suite would improve the product greatly.

Comments: We initially started using JIRA for the development team to track their progress but this changed as our methodolgy changed to scrum and we were able to find plugins to reglect how we worked. We were even able to manipulate the workflow to adapt to our operations process so that we can track tasks sent to our Finance team. It took some time to really understand the complexities around the screen scheme and field schemes but after spending some time researching you can eventually get it to do almost anything you want. But my recommendation is to use it for what it was designed for ie tracking and managing development projects.

Pros: it is very agile and loads of plugins available

Cons: can get complicated with all the different schemes that need to be setup

Cons: We do not have any 'roadmap' of whats hapening in the near future for the product. Also many feature were made as addon and wont be developped.

Comments: Jira helps our software organization to manage the making of our own Software (Workforce Management Solutions). We track the development job and team members work effort in our Scrum organization. We are using Jira since more than 7 or 8 years. I really do not know how we would be able to handle our daily objective without it, before we were using an homemade software. What we like most is that you can customize it. We use it both for software development projects and for customer service help desk tracking and ticketing. The entire company relies on it. We had it connected to Confluence. It is also a good tool to help us to provide the management with reporting, dashboard, road map. Less email, more tracking, less error, better quality! It is also good to empower people in a team. No training needed. Not too expensive. Big user community. Jira team constantly add new and useful features.

Pros: Easy to use, customizable and dashboard. Full documentations.

Cons: new version is a bit more complicate to use but it might be because we were so used and happy with the previous versions. User admin can be tricky sometimes.

Pros: I like the open door policy with Atlassian as well as the Jira product itself

Cons: Sometimes the product features don't work as expected and some products I wish were part of the base Jira product have to be purchased as an addon.

Recommendations to other buyers: The product is very dynamic, there needs to be a dedicated resource to this product so you can take advantage of the ever changing (updated) items

Pros: I've only recently used the product since I've been with EFS a little time. It's very easy to use, and is a great way to track our projects.

Cons: No comments at this time, but as time moves on I'll probably have something.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would say just make sure to try out all the wonderful features for mainstreaming organization of projects.

Pros: Easy to understand and learn. Helps to keep projects organized and can check to see where IT is at on the project

Cons: Nothing... It works great. We are learning more each quarter about what the product can do.

Recommendations to other buyers: It has really helped our company out in organizing projects and keeping track of where IT is at in the set up.

Pros: Easy to use and provides great visibility for all users into the projects we have in progress. Flexible enough to use in different ways as well.

Cons: No comment on anything that stands out that I dislike about JIRA.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep in mind there are many different ways you can use the product across projects and teams.

Pros: Kanban & Scrum Boards FTW. Multiple per Project, Single per multiple Projets and so on ...

Cons: Too many paid addons with functionality that should be already included. Sometimes it feels like free to play software. Multiple active Sprints on single board still experimental!

Recommendations to other buyers: Give the boards a try and see, if you can do most of your work with the basic functions. try to avoid addons, as license cost sums up quickly.

Pros: JIRA by itself is OK. You feel the power comes in when you integrate all the products together I am happy with what i have seen in Portfolio 2.0. It has a much better integration to JIRA. It gets us closer to providing a team to better manage the backlog for the enterprise.

Cons: I feel I am limited by the 2 hierarchies in JIRA. We implement SAfe and feel we need that third hierarchy to properly implement the portfolio.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look at all your processes that you use when setting up JIRA.

Pros: We like JIRA because it allows the owner of the task to create and manage the status of their own work with no more effort than sending an email, so the bar to adoptions is very low. As a product/process owner we can then passively create management reports/tracking via JIRA dashboards with minimal effort and manage projects from 1-100+ people and not have to chase them for status reports, its all auto-magical (is that a word?). We like the vendor/product for the following key reasons 1) The rich choice of plugins and flexible configuration, 2) The option to run on the clouds or locally, 3) stability, 4) the low maintenance costs and ease of upgrades.

Cons: Many key features are not available on the cloud due to limitation of plugins, Atlasssian should work with the vendors to get more plugins compatible with the cloud. We would also like to see the responsiveness of the cloud version improved.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep it simple, try to use an out of the box configuration and keep the steps, # required fields as simple as possible to drive adoption. You will find if there are too many requirements users will not use the system and you will have poor data quality.

Comments: JIRA (or JIRA Agile) has a been a go to software, be it for a small sized(2-10 people) or a large company(2000+ users). What I really like is the a) the customizations and b) the addons. You can customize the screens, fields and the workflows to suite your project/account/company process. Also the number of addons, even if you consider the free ones are great. Have used 3 more competitive softwares for project management(Agile), but JIRA is the runaway winner be it features or the price or the ease use.

Pros: 1. Pricing. 2. Ease of Use. 3. Ease of Customization be it screens, fields or workflows. 4. Ease of Administration. 5. Addons.

Cons: Hmm, 1. Maybe add a tier for firms looking for 300 licenses.

Comments: JIRA keeps our business moving forward. It is great for individuals to track problems and makes it easy for management to measure development efforts.

Pros: Very flexible, and has a lot that you can customize. It also has robust search with strong filtering capabilities.

Cons: There is a slight learning curve, and it does take a little time to set up and customize.
